SPEAKING TOPICS LEVEL C

(Cp nht 6/2014)

TOPIC 1: ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

Nowadays, as world develops rapidly more and more global ecological problems occur. It
is claimed that, this trend too immense to be reversed by certain countries or residents. In
my perspective, such opinion seems rather justifiable due to environmental problems
become worldwide and all countries in the world have to be responsible for it.

One of the critical ecological problems is the global warming that caused by large
emissions of carbon dioxide in atmosphere by cars, airplanes, fabrics all over the world.
The considerable number of cars is used by people in all, even in undeveloped countries,
industrialized ones characterized by that of fabrics which produce largest amount of
exhaust gases and cheap air traffic is available almost everywhere. All those promotes
global temperature to rise, that eventually leads to catastrophes and disasters over the world.
Therefore it as clearly that, every country including its residents are responsible.

However, it would be unconceiveable to force all societies and people on the earth, at the
same time, start solving such vital problem. In this case,we have to start from ourselves, for
instance, take a public transport instead of drive a car, then if any of us would try to do
that, this would reduce greenhouse effect to some extent. Similarly, even a few nations
which would be able to decrease carbon dioxide emissions by replacing natural energy
sources especially oil by renewable ones such as solar, wind and water power, would be
beneficial. Consequently, their attempts could spread these ideas and methods of improving
situation with global warming and lead to larger number of people and countries to be
involved in this.

In conclusion, I think that vital ecological problems should be considered as international

problems since it takes its toll on a broad scale. And, not only international and local
authorities should handle environmental problems but also every single person should take
care of environment and be conscious citizens of a clean and preserved planet.

TOPIC 2: TRAFFIC JAM

Traffic jam is the problem that people from many countries in the world are facing in my
country today, and Vietnam is not an exception. Everyday, all over the country, there are a
lot of traffic accidents, because in our country there are millions of motorbikes, bicycles,
cars and the roading system isnt good enough.

Everybody wants to get to where they want in the shortest time, but the traffic is too
crowded, thats the traffic reason causing traffic accidents or traffic jams.

The traffics jams make people who have to wait for a long time tired and sometimes
stressful. It is not good for our health. Besides, while people are being stuck in traffic jam,
the smokes of the vehicles can cause many lung diseases as well as cause the air pollution
that is the world-wide problem.

Personally I think it is very important that the government should give more information
to help improve the citizens awareness when they are in traffic. It can help to reduce traffic
jam in our country.

TOPIC 3: LIFE IN CITY

I have been a student of Danang university of Architecture since 2008 so I have lived I
Danang city for 4 years now. Truthfully, wherever I have lived I have had many advantages
and disadvantages.

The advantages that I have had when I live in Danang city is to live in the dynamic and
bustling environment. It is very suitable to a young person like me. In Danang city, there
are many public vehicles that meet the demands of Danang citizens. The entertainment
services and travel services are also better.

However there are many disadvantages such as: I always feel dangerous when crossing the
streets because the streets are crowded. The price of everything here is also higher than my
hometown. I find it hard to buy things with my little money. There are many more
difficulties but I cant list all here.

Although there are many disadvantages, I still like to live in Danang city.

TOPIC4: LIFE IN COUNTRY

Although I am living in a big city now, I like the life in the country very much. In the
countryside, I feel very relax and comfortable, the air is fresh and pure and especially the
people there, everybody is very friendly and kind.

I like to walk on the long village roads in the morning. It is very peaceful and the sound of
the new day is so interesting. The price there is also very cheap. I can buy many things
such as foods or clothes with unbelievable prices that much lower than those in the city.

I think living in the country will help us to have good health because of the fresh air with
little pollution.

TOPIC 5: LIFE AT HOME

I would like to tell you something about my life at home

My family has four members: My parents, my brother, and I. My father is 50 years old. He
is a doctor. Everyday he goes to hospital to work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. he is busy but he
always takes care of us. My mother is 45 years old. She is a housewife. She is a kind
woman. My brother is a university student in Ho chi minh City. He is 22 now and he is
very handsome and hard-working and I am a student at the Ho Chi Minh University of
Industry.

We usually get up at 5:30 in the morning. After breakfast, my father goes to work, my
mother does the housework and brother and I go to school. We have lunch at noon and
dinner at 7 p.m. In the evening we sit in the living-room talking and watching television. I
usually watch TV for about an hour, and then I do my homework and study my lessons
before going to bed.

My parents and sister love me very much and. I feel very happy at home.

TOPIC 6: FAVOURITE SPORT

There are many kinds of sports but I like football most. At weekends, I usually ride to Huy
Hoang sport town to play football with my friends. Normally one team pre-deposits. And
then we have a match in which each team tries very hard to win because the loss team has
to pay 200.000 vnd for rental fee, everybody doesnt want to loose the money. It is very
fun to play with a simple purpose like that. If we play in the day time, the fee will be
cheaper.

After each game, we both teams will go to the caf together to stretch and discuss the
match. Playing football helps me to improve my health and get out of the stress after a day-
long hard working and studying.

I really like travelling because travelling helps me know more places, meet a lot of people
and get to know other cultures and customs.

I wish I could not only travel to all the beautiful places in our country but also around the
world some day. If I travel abroad I would travel to France, Italy, The U.S. because I could
see the Eiffel tower, Vatican City, the Statue of Liberty.

things with the most reasonable price. But sometimes when they are busy I go shopping
with my friends. I usually buy food, clothes, and so on. I like to shop in the supermarket
because there are a lot of things to buy. I can choose goods easily and dont have to worry
about the quality and the price. In Hochiminh city there are many good supermarkets such
as Co-op mart, city mart, or Big C. However, when I want to buy clothes I like to go to
boutiques or chain stores. Clothes are more fashionable there.

I also go to open market to buy things. There I can bargain before buying something. Goods
in open markets are so various and nice.

Questions:

1. Who do you often go shopping with?

2. What do you usually buy?

3. What do you often do before deciding to buy an item of goods?

passion. And I will employ many people, give them work in order to contribute to the
development of my country, even though a little.

TOPIC 11: MODERN TECHONOGY

One modern technology which has transformed the social life is online social networking,
such as Facebook, Twitter, Friendster, and MySpace. These online social networking
connects people from around the world. People come from different continents, races,
cultures and religions. People are able to meet old friends and meet new friends. There are
no more boundaries for them to network with many people. Moreover, they do not have
any difficulties to share any kinds of information to each other. By using the mouse on
their right hand, people can always catch up and chat with their ex-colleagues, family, and
friends who are in different location and time zone. Furthermore, the high speed internet
home broadband is able to support a video conferencing and streaming. It is a tool used to
share any kinds of information through the air media. We do not need to step out from our
house to meet with our colleagues. Certainly, people would have more time managing their
personal life and work life. Nevertheless online technology for social networking, it is still
lack of human touch.

TOPIC 14: VIOLENCE SHOWN ON TV

1. If you turn on the TV at any time of the day, you can see a lot of gratuitous violence.
This can be found in comedian programs as well as gossip programs. In my opinion, this
increases our bad behaviour because it then show us bad things and it affects our thinking
in it all the day.

Most people spend too much time watching TV nowadays. I believe that this should change
and do activities without TV. In addition, it give us radiation altering our cells.

Many parents don't have time to play with their small children. For this reason, they should
let it go and consequently keep atention to children and do some outings with them.

A lot of films depict violence towards other people as if it were completely normal. As a
result the government should pass hard laws about it and people can become intesitive and
agressive. Apart from violence in films, the news is usually full of depressing stories from
around the world. Consequently, we have to organize more associations against. Most
importantly, TV causes us all horrible fight.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the TV is a source of violence and problems.

In the future, I think we should change it to more culture programs. Hopefully, this would
mean that the government will see people who need to be educated.

2. Violence on television can play a positive or negative role on society. When evaluating
violence on TV, the negative affects it has on society greatly outweigh the positive.
Violence on television has been entertaining viewers for decades and has played a big role
in their lives. Viewers tend to copy the things they see on television and violence is shown
often, influencing people act violently.

Violence can be found everywhere on television. The news often centers its reports around
homicide, rape, assault, and gang related cases. With these types of activities being
promoted over charity and good will activities, it is hard to see the difference between right
and wrong. This could cause people to use violence as a source of attention, knowing that
it is recognized by the public. Many TV shows actually base themselves around violence
in the form of fighting and murder. When viewers closely follow these shows, they extract
the violent messages that are shown and sometimes act them out. These are two of the
many ways television shows violence. Violence can also play positive roles on society by
scaring viewers away from horrifying events and showing the various ways that violence
can hurt people.

Even though violence plays a positive role in society, it is obvious that the negative affect
it has plays a much bigger role. With the reduction of violence, crime and violence rates
could possibly drop but with the emphasis TV puts on violence, this will probably never
happen.

3. Nowadays, the number of violent programs on television is increasing rapidly. There are
those who say that could affect negatively how children behave. In my opinion, children
should be restricted from watching violence on television due to its pessimistic impacts.

First of all, television with violent shows or channels could easily affects childrens
characteristics, since they are still at ages of discovering themselves and shaping their own
personalities. For example, a small boy often watches movies which include lots of fight-

Fanpage ca Khoa Ngoi Ng - H Cng Nghip TP.HCM (IUH): https://www.facebook.com/khoangoainguIUH

scenes. As a consequence, those action somehow lead him to similar thoughts and
behaviour. He then may become aggressive and stubborn, eventhough he used tobe a good-
natured boy.

Secondly, it is a truth that children tend to imitate a lot of things they see. And this does
not except for violence on television which they watch everyday. As children are not
mature and knowledgeable enough to control their mind and manage their orientation, they
might feel interested in anything and want to try it once. In many situations, that caused
serious problems. For instance, there was a group of teenagers who were arrested as robbers
and murders. The point here is that thay said they did this after watching an action film,
and they even did not know killing someone is committing crime. It sounds unbelieveable
but it happened.

To conclude, for the purpose of satisfying people who are fond of adventure, horror, or
detective, more and more violent contents are being performed on television today. But in
cases of audiences who are children, those programs really have a lot of disadvantages
which affect their behaviour. If adults continue allowing children to watch more violent
television programs, we must be seriously worried about whether they would develop
themselves the right way.

TOPIC 15: HIGH RATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT

Unemployment is a serious problem, governments in all countries should solve it as soon

as possible because unemployment is occurring more and more all over the world. With
young laborers who dont have a lot of knowledge I think the government can open career
schools and encourage them to learn a career and after that they will be introduced to some
companies or factories to do work.
Moreover, one important thing is vocational training in the high school curriculum. Its
necessary to teach it. The students should be taught the knowledge and skills at school so
that after leaving school they can find a job suited to their ability.
In addition, laborers should go abroad to do work. This way helps them have a job with a
high salary and get over unemployment.
