6.4 Electrical supply requirement:

Power supply requirement : 415V, Standard Power Supply
Requirement is 3 Phase 415V+N+Earth, 50Hz. However as per customer request, the machine can be
supplied with any of the following voltages.
6.4.1. 3 Phase 380V+N+Earth, 50Hz.
6.4.2. 3 Phase 220V+N+Earth, 60Hz.
Power consumption : Average: 5 kW
Peak: 7.5kW
6.5 Compressed air requirement : 150 Litres/min. (5.5 cfm) at 6 Kg / sq. cm. (84 PSI)
Dry air is a prime requirement of the machine. If air is not dry, a moisture trapper must be installed
between the Air Compressor and the Machine.
Since major operations of the Machine are performed using compressed air, the Air compressor plays a
significant role. Periodic addition of oil helps to run the compressor smoothly. Water should be regularly
drained from the bottom tank to ensure smooth functioning of the solenoid valves and pneumatic
cylinders.
Please refer the Manual supplied by compressor manufacturer for detailed instructions and trouble
shooting.
Pneumatic line :
The machine requires compressed air for actuating various pneumatic cylinders.
l

A pressure switch is incorporated in the machine which puts the machine off in case pressure
l
of incoming air drops below 5 Kg/sq.cm.
Following systems need air pressure in the machine.
Sealing roller engagement with form cylinder.
l

Contact heater engagement with form cylinder.

6.10.3 The CARTOBLIS Blister Packing Machine is designed for packing the pharma products and non
pharma products also in the blister formats with PVC and Alu as packing material. The machine can
be used in pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical companies.
6.10.4 To get these different blisters on the machine a set of parts need to be changed. These parts are
known as change parts or format parts.
Normally following parts need to be changed as change parts.
l Forming drum assembly
l Guide plate
l Punch tool assembly
l Feed track plate assembly
Some more parts are also form the set of change part, depending upon the pack requirement.
6.10.5 All parts that come in contact with the product are made of stainless steel or approved material
with suitable surface treatment.
6.10.6 Stainless steel cladding is provided for entire outer structure surface of this machine. SS sheet of
304 is to be attached to the painted plate of the Machine.
6.10.7 It has a fully automated single man operation for effective operator efficiency and lesser fatigue
ensuring saving in manpower and space and shorter breakeven point and payback period.
6.10.8 This machine is with MMI control system. In this control system actions are controlled by touch
screen. On this touch screen different function keys are provided. Just by touching the key/screen
we can ON/OFF or change the parameters of the machine. This control system is more
sophisticated than console control system.
6.10.9 It is designed and built for low wear and tear and easy maintenance; has a high degree of safety,
preventing accidents and reducing downtime.

6.11
Chapter-6
Machine specifications
CARTOBLIS Blister Packing Machine

The electrical power to the machine is to be connected to junction box -1 where you have to connect 3 PH.
220 V AC, 50 Hz, NEUTRAL & EARTH. A cable of 4 sq.mm, 5 core is to be used for this purpose. All three phases
are further connected to the isolation switch. So by making this switch on/off, we can control the power input
to machine. After isolation a MCB of32 A is used as a added protection for short circuit.
Further power is applied to MAINS CONTACTOR. A POWER ON' & POWER OFF push button is used for
making on/off MAINS CONTACTOR. So after mains contactor power is applied to all other contactors, control
transformer etc.
Control transformer: A control transformer is a 2 PH to 1 PH isolation transformer having voltage tapings
both at the input as well as at the output to facilitate various voltage levels as per requirement. As a
protection MCB's (4A) is used at the input as also the output of control transformer.
At the output of control transformer a power supply (SMPS) is connected, which is used to generate 24 V, 2A
DC as a control voltage to all machines. A separate 5V, 2A tap is also there which is used for NFD ( non filled
detection) system only.
Heater on/off logic: Both forming as well as sealing heater is directly controlled by PLC. Outputs YO & Y1 are
used for that purpose. Both these outputs are directly driving SSR ( solid state relay), though power is applied
to both heaters. MCB's are added in series for short circuit protection. The sensing thermocouples of both
heaters are connected to special4AD-TC control card which is interfaced to PLC.
Vacuum pump on/off: Same as heaters, this also is directly controlled by PLC. Output Y2 is used for that
purpose. External relay 1 is driven by PLC which gives power to coil of vacuum pump motor contractor. At the
output of contactor, overload relay of 1.6A -2.5A is used for overload protection.
Ac motor on/off logic: An AC motor ( 2HP) is controlled by separate AC drive ( 3 HP). A 220 V, 3 PH power is
applied to AC drive through MCB (3A). Drive is enabled through PLC output Y3, which drives relay 2. For speed
variation a 2.5K pot is placed on console, by which machine speed can be varied from min. to max.
NFD logic: Non filled detection system is used for checking the presence or absence of tablets in the vanity of
blisters. If the cavity is empty, particular blister gets automatically rejected after punching. So only filled
blisters will be transferred to conveyor.
PRS logic: Print registration system is basically used for adjusting the aluminium foil position so that after
sealing printed matter on Al. foil gets perfectly aligned on blister.
