Open with own video based on the literary definition of, and our own definition of, power.

Student-focused Activities
What activities will your student do during this lesson or project?
1) Introduce the questions: What is power? What does it mean to you?
2) Let students brainstorm, talking aloud and giving their own ideas of the word "power".
3) Give the actual definition of the word "power" based off of the Oxford Dictionary.
4) Continue class discussion, connecting the actual definition with the student's ideas.
5) Students select three chosen resources, each based off of a different idea of the word "power", and read
to themselves.
6) Using Prezi, students will create a 5-slide minimum presentation on the word "power" and what it means
to them. Examples for slides includes "What does the word mean to you" and "How class discussion may
have influenced your personal definition". Cite any additional resources used.
7) Students get into groups of 3 to share their created Prezi's and further discuss their interpretation of the
word "power" to continue building their personal definition.
8) Students turn in their Prezi's digitally.
