Presidents Corner
Dear Members,
I would like to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to help lead The Lebanon Club as your new
Club Officers president. From the day I joined, you all made me feel at home and I enjoyed many of our family events, fund
raisers, and dinners.
Mike Caravakis While growing up in Danbury many of my friends were Lebanese, Syrian and of course Greek.
President We all were involved in school and after school activities including baseball, basketball, and many events at
The War Memorial and Rogers Park.
Ghassan Najm My local roots led me to join the club that I use to attend as a guest on New Street.
Vice President My Wifes grandfather, Mike Lahoud was one of the original founders of the club and many of his family later
Jimmy Glynn became very active members to include, Nicholas and Thomas Lahoud, my father-in-law Fred Raya, and
Secretary currently my cousin Louis Lahoud. This is family!
I want to thank President John Ashkar for his 4 years of hard work and dedication, Dick Jowdy for his
Lou Najamy continued support and all of our board members, past and present.
Asst. Secretary Looking forward in working with Ruth Ashkar and The Ladies Auxiliary and thank them for all of the amazing
things they do.
William Asmar My current goals are to continue working on improvements on this facility. Listed below are a few ideas:
Treasurer Support Fund Raisers to help continue the daily operations at 22 West St;
Enlarge and improve both kitchens, exterior painting and cleaning, a new outdoor shed to house our outdoor
Mark Chory equipment which is already on order. Ensure that our grounds, including sidewalks and parking lot are cleaned
Asst. Treasurer and passable for our guests and renters.
By achieving some of these goals, we could then continue to take a pro-active approach in renting our beautiful
John Ashkar hall for a variety of events and create a stronger revenue stream.
Past President More to follow next month.
Directors
Sincerely,
Vinny DiGilio Mike Caravakis Happy Valentines Day

The people can never understand why the President does not use his supposedly great power to makeem behave. Well all
the President is, is a glorified public relations man who spends his time flattering, kissing and kicking people to get them to
do what they are supposed to do anyway. President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972).
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, U.S. politician and diplomat
(1927-2003).
A Little Humor:
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with. W.C. Fields, American comedian (1880-1946).
Happiness, it seems to me, consists of two things: first, in being where you belong, and second and best in comfortably
going through everyday life, that is, having a good nights sleep and not being hurt by new shoes. Theodor Fontaine,
German author (1819-1898).
