01: INTRODUCTION TO MASTERSERIES

AIM: To study clearly the use and application of different icon of master series
such as: master series customization, creating new folders, creating a working
space and maser series navigation

APPARATUS
Computer system ( hardware)
Master series application 2010 version (software)

PROCEDURES

1. Master series customization

i. By using application shortcut created on the desktop, open master
series application
ii. On the top ribbon of master series main page, different tools for
different purpose will be open such as file, frame, portal frame,
element design, flat slab, designer suit, calc. wizard, utilities and help
iii. Before creating a working space, you are supposed to use file icon
customize master series settings
iv. Therefore in master series customization, you can set the company
logo, colors of the page, steel sections you want to use, design code
such as BS,IS, AMERICAN Codes of design for steel, timber, concrete
and composite design, also in design code, check the strength value of
material used such that for concrete check grade of concrete and
strength of steel reinforcement
v. In design code also you can set the autoCAD directory for exporting the
design drawing from master series to autoCAD for more detailing.
vi. Right click file master series customization design code reset
autoCAD directory select autoCAD shortcut on the desktop then
click open.

2. Folder creating and creation of working space

i. Using a pointer, navigate on the element you want to design Eg. R.C.C
slab: right click element design concrete slab
ii. Right click Master Key: concrete slab
iii. Then use keyboard to write the folder name in the New File dialogue
box
iv. Therefore click create new
v. A working space for slab design will be open and you can start to work
with the design
 3. Navigate the work done
i. Right click on the element you want to view (designed work) Eg. R.C.C
slab
ii. Right click element design master key: concrete slab
iii. Using the key board to write the folder name you want to navigate (as
it saved before)
iv. The right click get file icon, the needed design will be opened up

NB: Procedures are the same to the all design elements of structure such as slab,
beam, column, footing, tanks etc.
