G ods
Word
is
wonderful,
telling
us
continually
that
he
is
in
the
renewal
business.
It
is
exciting
being
a
Christian
because
we
anticipate
that
God
will
always
do
something
new
and
exciting
in
our
life.
Our
responsibility
is
to
place
ourselves
in
a
position
so
God
can
work
through
us.
How
do
we
do
this?
First,
we
need
to
stop
dwelling
on
the
past.
When
we
dwell
on
the
past,
it
is
like
trying
to
drive
a
car
always
looking
in
the
rear
view
mirror.
There
is
nothing
we
can
do
about
our
past
except
to
put
aside
the
parts
that
pull
us
down,
and
to
learn
not
to
make
the
same
mistakes
in
the
future.
For
we
are
his
workmanship,
created
in
Christ
Jesus
for
good
works,
which
God
prepared
beforehand,
that
we
should
walk
in
them.
(Ephesians
2:10,
ESV)
If
we
walk
in
faith,
he
will
provide
the
way
in
the
wilderness
and
streams
in
the
spiritual
desert
of
this
world.
If
we
are
sensitive
to
his
leading
we
will
recognize
that
he
is
in
the
process
of
doing
a
new
thing
in
us
and
through
us.
When
this
happens,
it
exciting
to
know
we
are
in
the
center
of
Gods
will.
Not
that
I
have
already
obtained
all
this,
or
have
already
arrived
at
my
goal,
but
I
press
on
to
take
hold
of
that
for
which
Christ
Jesus
took
hold
of
me.
Brothers
and
sisters,
I
do
not
consider
myself
yet
to
have
taken
hold
of
it.
But
one
thing
I
do:
Forgetting
what
is
behind
and
straining
toward
what
is
ahead
(Philippians
3:1213,
NIV)
Do I dwell on my past, or am I looking for the new things that God wants to do in my life?
P eople
are
looking
for
LIFE
and
FAVOR
or
advantages
in
their
circumstances.
However,
most
of
the
world
is
looking
in
the
wrong
places
for
these
ingredients.
For
with
the
heart
one
believes
and
is
justified,
and
with
the
mouth
one
confesses
and
is
saved.
(Romans
10:10,
ESV)
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12, NIV)
The Psalmist recognizes that his success happened because of Gods favor:
Lord,
when
you
favored
me,
you
made
my
royal
mountain
stand
firm;
but
when
you
hid
your
face,
I
was
dismayed.
(Psalm
30:7,
NIV)
It was only because of Gods favor that the Hebrew people were able to take possession of the Promised Land:
For
they
did
not
gain
possession
of
the
land
by
their
own
sword,
nor
did
their
own
arm
save
them;
but
it
was
Your
right
hand,
Your
arm,
and
the
light
of
Your
countenance,
because
You
favored
them.
(Psalm
44:3,
NKJV)
May
the
favor
of
the
Lord
our
God
rest
on
us;
establish
the
work
of
our
hands
for
us
yes,
establish
the
work
of
our
hands.
(Psalm
90:17,
NIV)
This
is
a
tremendous
incentive
for
us
to
spend
time
in
the
Word
of
God.
For
it
is
here
we
find
the
instruction
and
wisdom
from
above
that
will
help
make
us
the
kind
of
person
God
can
favor.
For
the
eyes
of
the
Lord
run
to
and
fro
throughout
the
whole
earth,
to
give
strong
support
to
those
whose
heart
is
blameless
toward
him
(2
Chronicles
16:9,
ESV)
Am I allowing the Spirit of God to develop in me a blameless heart that is loyal to God and fully committed to him?
D aniel
is
a
prime
example
of
the
kind
of
person
God
is
looking
to
use.
Daniels
heart
was
fully
committed
to
God.
He
always
sought
the
will
of
God,
and
he
let
his
light
shine
before
his
peers
without
fear.
As
a
result,
God
used
him
in
mighty
ways
that
will
echo
into
eternity.
On
numerous
occasions,
God
caused
officials
and
even
kings
to
favor
Daniel.
God
revealed
secrets
to
Daniel.
Because
of
Gods
favor,
Daniel
was
elevated
to
the
highest
levels
of
power,
position,
and
wealth
in
the
world
system
of
his
day.
Gods
favor
rested
big
time
on
Daniel.
Those
who
accept
my
commandments
and
obey
them
are
the
ones
who
love
me.
And
because
they
love
me,
my
Father
will
love
them.
And
I
will
love
them
and
reveal
myself
to
each
of
them.
(John
14:21,
NLT)
It should be the desire of our heart that God would reveal himself to us to the extent he is willing to do so.
The
timing
of
God
working
in
our
lives
is
subject
to
his
sovereignty.
He
is
our
reward,
our
inheritance,
and
our
portion.
He
promises
that
he
is
good
to
those
who
depend
on
him,
and
who
search
for
him.
In
the
meantime,
we
wait
patiently
for
him
to
act.
I
say
to
myself,
The
Lord
is
my
inheritance;
therefore,
I
will
hope
in
him!
The
Lord
is
good
to
those
who
depend
on
him,
to
those
who
search
for
him.
So
it
is
good
to
wait
quietly
for
salvation
from
the
Lord.
(Lamentations
3:2426,
NLT)
Is my heart fully committed to God so he can reveal himself to me and work in my life?
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12, NIV)
I n
KingdomNomics,
we
emphasize
the
wisdom
of
converting
the
perishable
time,
talent
and
treasure
of
this
world
into
the
imperishable
values
of
the
real
world
to
come:
eternity.
In
Psalm
90:12,
we
are
taught
to
number
our
days
in
order
to
gain
a
heart
of
wisdom.
The
time
will
come
when
we
will
turn
in
the
temporary
body
we
are
leasing
during
our
life
on
earth.
We
do
not
have
unlimited
time
to
make
decisions.
For
God
will
bring
every
deed
into
judgment,
including
every
hidden
thing,
whether
it
is
good
or
evil.
(Ecclesiastes
12:14,
NIV)
Nothing
in
all
creation
is
hidden
from
Gods
sight.
Everything
is
uncovered
and
laid
bare
before
the
eyes
of
him
to
whom
we
must
give
account.
(Hebrews
4:13,
NIV)
Fortunately,
for
the
Christian,
our
sin
is
judged
at
the
cross.
When
we
become
aware
of
an
attitude,
thought,
or
action
we
commit
that
is
contrary
to
the
will
of
God,
we
want
to
confess
it
and
repent
of
it,
so
we
can
continue
to
enjoy
communion
with
the
Holy
Spirit.
If
we
confess
our
sins,
he
is
faithful
and
just
and
will
forgive
us
our
sins
and
purify
us
from
all
unrighteousness.
(1
John
1:9,
NIV)
Am I developing an eternal perspective of life? When I become aware of my sins, do I confess and repent?

But
who
am
I,
and
who

my

that
we

be

to

as

as
this?
Everything

from
you,
and
we

We

foreigners
and

in
your

as

our

Our

on

the
remarks
King
David
made
as
he
neared
the
end
of
his
life.
David
summarizes
exactly
what
our
situation
is,
and
the
perspective
we
should
have.
But
remember
the
Lord
your
God,
for
it
is
he
who

you
the

to

and

confirms
his

which
he

it

In
Gods
sight
we
are
strangers
and
foreigners
in
this
world.
David
reminds
us
of
this
truth,
telling
us
our
citizenship
is
in
heaven.
Furthermore,
he
reminds
us
that
our
earthly
life
is
like
a
shadow.
Our
time
bubble
can
pop
at
any
time,
landing
us
in
eternity,
a
totally
different
paradigm
with
values
foreign
to
the
world
we
now
inhabit.
David
reiterates
the
truth
that
everything
comes
from
God
and
belongs
to
God.
This
is
a
difficult
concept;
many
people
believe
that
everything
they
have
belongs
to
them,
and
they
can
do
anything
they
want
with
it.
Wise
people
conclude
that
King
Davids
words
in
todays
scripture
passage
are
still
true
today.
We
come
to
the
King
with
a
willing
mind,
generously
helping
to
build
the
body
of
Christ
by
extending
others
the
opportunity
to
begin
a
personal
relationship
with
him.
Whatever
my
eyes
desired
I
did
not
keep
from
them.
I
did
not
withhold
my
heart
from
any
pleasure,
for
my
heart
rejoiced
in
all
my
labor;
and
this
was
my
reward
from
all
my
labor.
Then
I
looked
on
all
the
works
that
my
hands
had
done
and
on
the
labor
in
which
I
had
toiled;
and
indeed
all
was
vanity
and
grasping
for
the
wind.
There
was
no
profit
under
the
sun.
(Ecclesiastes
2:1011,
NKJV)
In
the
first
verse
Jesus
tells
us
how
to
use
worldly
wealth.
In
the
second
scripture
we
see
the
disillusionment
of
King
Solomon
during
the
period
when
he
sought
to
experience
every
worldly
pleasure,
build
great
works,
accumulate
gold
and
silver,
and
pursue
wisdom
and
knowledge.
He
concluded
that
all
of
this
activity
was
a
grasping
for
the
wind;
there
was
no
profit
under
the
sun.
Even
though
Solomon
was
the
richest
person
of
his
day
and
had
the
power
to
experience
every
pleasure
known
to
man,
in
the
end
he
realized
he
had
nothing.
When
we
invest
in
the
lives
of
people
and
spread
the
Word
of
God,
we
build
treasures
for
ourselves
in
heaven.
Gods
Word
and
the
souls
of
people
are
the
only
items
that
will
survive
in
the
eternal
paradigm.
Giving
or
investing
is
at
the
heart
of
the
CONVERTERLATOR.
When
we
invest
properly
in
kingdom
objectives
like
the
Great
Commission,
we
convert
time,
talent,
and
treasure
into
imperishable
eternal
treasure.
Then
the
Lord
said
to
me,
You
have
seen
well,
for
I
am
ready
to
perform
My
word.

1:12,
NKJV)

Jesus

were
to

what
one
question
would
ask
him?
I
believe
todays
passages
suggest
a
question
that
should
be
high
on
our
priority
list:
Lord,
please
open
our
eyes
so
we
can
know
you
better;
see
and
understand
your
will
for
us
in
the
time
we
have
remaining
in
this
world.
I
keep
asking
that
the
God
of
our
Lord
Jesus
Christ,
the
glorious
Father,
may
give
you
the
Spirit
of
wisdom
and
revelation,
so
that
you
may
know
him
better.
I
pray
that
the
eyes
of
your
heart
may
be
enlightened
in
order
that
you
may
know
the
hope
to
which
he
has
called
you,
the
riches
of
his
glorious
inheritance
in
his
holy
people,
and
his
incomparably
great
power
for
us
who
believe.
That
power
is
the
same
as
the
mighty
strength.
(Ephesians
1:1719,
NIV)
These
men
received
their
sight.
Then
what
did
they
do?
They
followed
Jesus.
It
is
interesting
to
note
in
the
Jeremiah
passage
that
the
Lord
said,
You
have
seen
well,
for
I
am
ready
to
perform
My
word.
for
it
is
God
who
works
in
you,
both
to
will
and
to
work
for
his
good
pleasure.
(Philippians
2:13,
ESV)
Do
I
consistently
ask
God
to
reveal
how
he
wants
me
to
use
my
time,
talent,
and
treasure
to
advance
his
kingdom?
Am
I
following
through
with
what
he
reveals
to
me?
W e
learn
two
great
lessons
from
the
life
of
King
Uzziah,
who
reigned
in
Judah
for
a
long
period
of
time.
We
want
to
pursue
the
first
lesson,
but
avoid
the
second
lesson
like
the
plague.
This
is
particularly
true
if
we
practice
KingdomNomics
and
are
in
a
leadership
position.
It
is
written,
He
did
what
was
right
in
the
eyes
of
the
Lord,
just
as
his
father
Amaziah
had
done.
He
sought
God
during
the
days
of
Zechariah,
who
instructed
him
in
the
fear
of
God.
As
long
as
he
sought
the
Lord,
God
gave
him
success.
(2
Chronicles
26:45,
NIV)
This
is
the
formula
for
success.
Success
comes
from
the
Lord.
God
gave
Uzziah
success
in
response
for
his
having
sought
the
Lord.
The
Ammonites
brought
tribute
to
Uzziah,
and
his
fame
spread
as
far
as
the
border
of
Egypt,
because
he
had
become
very
powerful.
(2
Chronicles
26:8,
NIV)
In
Jerusalem
he
made
devices
invented
for
use
on
the
towers
and
on
the
corner
defenses
so
that
soldiers
could
shoot
arrows
and
hurl
large
stones
from
the
walls.
His
fame
spread
far
and
wide,
for
he
was
greatly
helped
until
he
became
powerful.
(2
Chronicles
26:15,
NIV)
Then something terrible happened. Uzziah became proud, and his pride caused him to violate the law.
But
after
Uzziah
became
powerful,
his
pride
led
to
his
downfall.
He
was
unfaithful
to
the
Lord
his
God,
and
entered
the
temple
of
the
Lord
to
burn
incense
on
the
altar
of
incense.
(2
Chronicles
26:16,
NIV)
Only
the
sons
of
Aaron
the
priests
were
to
do
this
ceremonial
act
of
worship.
Because
of
this
transgression
God
struck
Uzziah
with
leprosy.
King
Uzziah
had
leprosy
until
the
day
he
died.
He
lived
in
a
separate
houseleprous,
and
banned
from
the
temple
of
the
Lord.
Jotham
his
son
had
charge
of
the
palace
and
governed
the
people
of
the
land.
(2
Chronicles
26:21,
NIV)
Its
good
to
remember
that
we
are
all
the
same
at
the
foot
of
the
cross.
We
have
all
sinned,
and
we
all
need
the
same
remedy:
Jesus
Christ.
Am I risking Gods blessing because I am following my own way instead of Gods way?
F rom
an
eternal
perspective,
it
is
critical
we
build
on
the
right
foundation.
And
that
foundation
is
Jesus
Christ.
Because
we
live
in
a
deceptive
world,
it
is
possible
to
be
diverted
and
go

The
passage
from
Jeremiah
reminds
us
we
must
root
ourselves
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ.
He
is
the
source
of
life
that
sustains
and
endures.
Just
as
in
the
days
of
Jeremiah,
many
people
today
have
abandoned
the
fountain
of
living
water.
Instead,
they
seek
satisfaction
in
the
perishable
values
of
this
world.
for
Demas,
because
he

has
deserted
me

has

Crescens
has

Galatia,
and
Titus

4:10,
NIV)
The

of
this

is
the

that
can
lead
to
destruction
and
the
loss
of
eternal

At
the

of

many

what
to

Some

their
time,
talent,
and
treasure
in
the
temporary
values
of
this
world,
not
realizing
the
eternal
cost
of
doing
so.
These
people
are
building
for
themselves
broken
cisterns
that
cannot
hold

The
longer
we

the
more
we
begin
to

the
fact
that

R ecently,
I
received
an
email
from
a

wanting
an
explanation
of
the
above
verses.
No
matter
how
great
the
ministry
of
an
individual
may
be,
we
must
remember
the
source,
power,
and
foundation
of
our
salvation
is
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ
alone.
Only
he
gives
us
right
standing
before
God,
not
our
works.
I
believe
Matthew
7:2124
is
referring
to
people
who
are
trusting
in
their
works
to
get
into
heaven.
Works,
no
matter
how
wonderful,
are
not
an
acceptable
payment
for
our
sin,
nor
do
they
make
us
right
with
God.
Only
the
blood
of
Jesus
Christ
is
the
acceptable
payment
for
sin,
and
only
by
his
blood
do
we
have
redemption
in
Christ.
The
people
mentioned
in
the
above
passage
are
referring
to
themselves,
saying
their
works
ought
to
qualify
them
to
enter
heaven.
Without
realizing
it,
they
are
trusting
in
themselves
rather
than
in
Jesus
Christ.
Only
God
qualifies
us:
Giving
thanks
to
the
Father,
who
has
qualified
you
to
share
in
the
inheritance
of
the
saints
in
light.
He
has
delivered
us
from
the
domain
of
darkness
and
transferred
us
to
the
kingdom
of
his
beloved
Son,
in
whom
we
have
redemption,
the
forgiveness
of
sins.
(Colossians
1:1214,
ESV)
This
is
a
100%
work
by
God.
It
is
only
God
who
qualifies,
delivers,
and
transfers
and
in
whom
there
is
the
forgiveness
of
sin.
Remember:
Because,
if
you
confess
with
your
mouth
that
Jesus
is
Lord
and
believe
in
your
heart
that
God
raised
him
from
the
dead,
you
will
be
saved.
For
with
the
heart
one
believes
and
is
justified,
and
with
the
mouth
one
confesses
and
is
saved.
(Romans
10:910,
ESV)
The
following
passage
states
what
the
will
of
the
father
is,
and
this
is
what
we
want
to
be
sure
to
rely
on.
Only
Jesus
Christ
is
our
salvation.
Nothing
else.
For
this
is
the
will
of
my
Father,
that
everyone
who
looks
on
the
Son
and
believes
in
him
should
have
eternal
life,
and
I
will
raise
him
up
on
the
last
day
(John
6:40,
ESV).
The
works
will
follow
true
faith.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
looking
to
Jesus
Christ
alone
for
my
salvation,
trusting
only
in
his
death,
burial,
and
resurrection?
W e
recently

question
from
a
subscriber
of
the

KingdomNomics
Applied
devotionals
about
how
to
overcome
a
particular
moral
issue
in
his
life,
in
addition
to
fending
off
the
accusations
of
Satan
even
after
confession
of
the
sin
to
God.
We
suggested
several
steps
an
individual
can
take
to
overcome
sin.
The
first
step
is
to
confess:
If
we
confess
our
sins,
He
is
faithful
and
just
to
forgive
us
our
sins
and
to
cleanse
us
from
all
unrighteousness.
(1
John
1:9,
NKJV)
Confession
includes
repentance
from
continuing
or
practicing
the
sin.
Second,
God
gives
us
the
power
to
overcome
temptation
and
sin
by
the
power
of
the
Holy
Spirit.
Therefore,
brothers
and
sisters,
we
have
an
obligationbut
it
is
not
to
the
flesh,
to
live
according
to
it.
For
if
you
live
according
to
the
flesh,
you
will
die;
but
if
by
the
Spirit
you
put
to
death
the
misdeeds
of
the
body,
you
will
live.
(Romans
8:1213,
NIV)
Because
we
are
now
under
grace,
we
are
no
longer
under
the
law.
Grace
gives
us
the
power
to
overcome
temptation.
Third,
if
we
avail
ourselves
of
power
of
the
Holy
Spirit,
we
can
overcome
sin:
So
I
say,
walk
by
the
Spirit,
and
you
will
not
gratify
the
desires
of
the
flesh.
(Galatians
5:16,
NIV)
We
ask
God
to
fill
us
with
his
Holy
Spirit
and
to
take
control
of
how
we
think,
feel,
and
act.
We
must
remember
that
we
cannot
talk
the
talk
if
we
do
not
walk
the
walk.
Sin
will
destroy
our
effectiveness
to
be
a
witness
for
the
Lord.
Fourth,
it
is
important
to
bring
our
thought
life
into
captive
obedience
to
Christ:
We
demolish
arguments
and
every
pretension
that
sets
itself
up
against
the
knowledge
of
God,
and
we
take
captive
every
thought
to
make
it
obedient
to
Christ.
(2
Corinthians
10:5,
NIV)
Whoever
controls
our
mind,
controls
us.
God
gives
us
the
power
to
reject
thoughts
not
in
conformance
with
his
will.
Fifth,
to
the
extent
possible,
remove
yourself
from
the
source
of
the
temptation.
Terminate
any
wrong
relationship.
Focus
your
mind
on
the
good;
practice
SOAK,
SOW,
and
FLOW;
and
continue
to
do
the
next
thing
God
wants
you
to
do.
In
some
situations,
professional
help
should
be
sought.
Remember,
we
are
the
temple
of
God,
and
Christ
is
the
one
who
is
now
living
his
life
in
us:
I
have
been
crucified
with
Christ
and
I
no
longer
live,
but
Christ
lives
in
me.
The
life
I
now
live
in
the
body,
I
live
by
faith
in
the
Son
of
God,
who
loved
me
and
gave
himself
for
me.
(Galatians
2:20,
NIV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
asking
God
to
fill
me
with
his
Holy
Spirit,
so
I
can
live
a
life
pleasing
to
him?
T here
is
nothing
like
being
in
the
Kings
service.
Then
we
realize
what
we
are
designed
for
and
the
particular
works
he
wants
us
to
do.
We
experience
a
fulfilling
and
abundant
life
when
we
are
in
the
center
of
Gods
will.
Our
lives
will
truly
echo
into
eternity
as
we
experience
the
favor
and
blessing
of
God
when
we
are
in
harmony
with
his
will.
How
do
we
know
this
for
sure?
For
we
are
Gods
handiwork,
created
in
Christ
Jesus
to
do
good
works,
which
God
prepared
in
advance
for
us
to
do.
(Ephesians
2:10,
NIV)
This
verse
tells
how
we
are
Gods
handiwork,
special
vessels
made
for
the
purpose
of
being
productive.
He
wants
us
to
be
engaged
in
the
good
works
he
has
prepared
for
us.
When
we
are
spiritually
born
into
his
family,
we
become
a
new
creation
with
renewed
purposes
and
works
to
do
for
his
kingdom.
How
do
we
find
these
works
he
wants
us
to
do?
We
want
to
ask,
seek,
and
knock,
so
he
will
reveal
his
will
to
us
by
opening
doors
in
the
direction
he
wants
us
to
go.
Look
at
this
truth:
However,
as
it
is
written:
What
no
eye
has
seen,
what
no
ear
has
heard,
and
what
no
human
mind
has
conceivedthe
things
God
has
prepared
for
those
who
love
himthese
are
the
things
God
has
revealed
to
us
by
his
Spirit.
The
Spirit
searches
all
things,
even
the
deep
things
of
God.
For
who
knows
a
persons
thoughts
except
their
own
spirit
within
them?
In
the
same
way
no
one
knows
the
thoughts
of
God
except
the
Spirit
of
God.
What
we
have
received
is
not
the
spirit
of
the
world,
but
the
Spirit
who
is
from
God,
so
that
we
may
understand
what
God
has
freely
given
us.

Corinthians
2:912,
NIV)

According
to
these
verses,
God
has
prepared
things
for
those
who
love
him,
and
his
Spirit
freely
reveals
these
things
to
us.
This
is
why
we
must
worship
God
in
Spirit
and
truth,
so
he
can
reveal
his
will
to
us.
As
we
understand
more
about
the
imperishable
values
that
matter
to
God
and
align
them
with
the
gifts
of
time,
talent,
and
treasure
he
gives
to
us,
then
we
find
what
he
specifically
wants
us
to
do
to
help
advance
his
kingdom.
God
will
reveal
more
to
us
if
he
knows
we
will
be
doers
of
anything
he
reveals
to
us.
In
KingdomNomics
we
want
to
be
sure
to
practice,
Do
not
merely
listen
to
the
word,
and
so
deceive
yourselves.
Do
what
it
says.
(James
1:22,
NIV)
If
we
are
doers
of
the
Word
of
God,
God
knows
he
can
depend
on
us
to
accomplish
the
tasks
he
reveals
to
us.
We
want
God
to
be
able
to
say
of
us
what
he
said
about
David:
After
removing
Saul,
he
made
David
their
king.
God
testified
concerning
him:
I
have
found
David
son
of
Jesse,
a
man
after
my
own
heart;
he
will
do
everything
I
want
him
to
do.
(Acts
13:22,
NIV)
C hrist
can
live
and
continue
his
ministry
through
us
while
we
are
still
in
this
world.
These
two
verses
encapsulate
these
secrets
of
the
kingdom
to
us.
If
we
grasp
these
truths,
in
faith,
our
lives
will
be
in
for
radical
change.
We
can
become
overcomers,
no
longer
helpless
victims
enslaved
to
sin.
We
must
be
crucified
with
Christ,
counting
ourselves
dead
to
sin.
Yes,
sin
lurks
inside
of
us,
always
trying
to
reassert
itself.
But
the
good
news
is
we
no
longer
have
to
surrender
to
its
control.
The
following
verses
verify
this
spiritual
truth:
Therefore,
brothers
and
sisters,
we
have
an
obligationbut
it
is
not
to
the
flesh,
to
live
according
to
it.
(Romans
8:12,
NIV)
For
we
know
that
our
old
self
was
crucified
with
him
so
that
the
body
ruled
by
sin
might
be
done
away
with,
that
we
should
no
longer
be
slaves
to
sin.
(Romans
6:6,
NIV)
For
if
you
live
according
to
the
flesh,
you
will
die;
but
if
by
the
Spirit
you
put
to
death
the
misdeeds
of
the
body,
you
will
live.
(Romans
8:13,
NIV)
So
I
say,
walk
by
the
Spirit,
and
you
will
not
gratify
the
desires
of
the
flesh.
(Galatians
5:16,
NIV)
When
we

up
from
time
to
time,
we
then
confess,
for
if

(1
John
1:9,

Today,
ask
yourself:
How
strongly
do
I
believe
that
Jesus
Christ
is
living
his
life
in
me
today?
rom
a
circumstantial
standpoint,
the
prophet
Habakkuk
lived
in
a
terrible
time.
The
land
was
soon
to
be
invaded
and,
because
of
the
disobedience
of
the
people
to
God
over
time,
prosperity
was
no
more.
Even
though
the
circumstances
were
bad,
Habakkuk
gives
us
the
formula
for
not
only
surviving
but
also
thriving
in
such
a
period.
The
above
passage
shows
us
that
Habakkuk
did
not
allow
circumstances
to
steal
his
joy.
It
is
an
example
for
us
that
our
joy
and
happiness
have
to
be
based
on
more
than
just
having
good
experiences.
Habakkuk
was
determined
to
rejoice
in
the
Lord
of
his
salvation
and
to
be
joyful
in
all
of
the
spiritual
blessings
of
the
Lord.
God
had
become
his
strength,
and
he
realized
everything
was
sourced
in
God.
Because
of
that,
God
made
his
feet
like
those
of
a
deer
enabling
him
to
walk
on
the
hills
or
heights
of
the
land
overcoming
fear
and
problems.
The
Psalmist
also
expresses
the
same
principle:
The
Lord
is
my

strength
and
my
shield;
my
heart
trusts
in
him,
and
he
helps
me.

My
heart
leaps
for
joy,
and
with
my
song
I
praise
him.
(Psalm
28:7,
NIV)
Paul
expresses
the
same
in
several
passages:
Not
that
I
am
speaking
of
being
in
need,
for
I
have
learned
in
whatever
situation
I
am
to
be
content.
(Philippians
4:11,
ESV)
I
can
do
all
things
through
him
who
strengthens
me.
(Philippians
4:13,
ESV)
Do
not
be
anxious
about
anything,
but
in
every
situation,
by
prayer
and
petition,
with
thanksgiving,
present
your
requests
to
God.
And
the
peace
of
God,
which
transcends
all
understanding,
will
guard
your
hearts
and
your
minds
in
Christ
Jesus.
(Philippians
4:67,
NIV)
Jesus
Christ
is
the
same
yesterday
and
today
and
forever.
(Hebrews
13:8,
NIV)
May
the
God
of
hope
fill
you
with
all
joy
and
peace
as
you
trust
in
him,
so
that
you
may
overflow
with
hope
by
the
power
of
the
Holy
Spirit.
(Romans
15:13,
NIV)
Our
joy
is
sourced
in
the
Holy
Spirit,
not
in
our
circumstances.
We
may
endure
many
difficult
circumstances;
people
may
disappoint
us
in
many
ways.
However,
if
our
joy
is
in
the
Lord,
the
sting
of
adversity
can
be
greatly
mitigated.
Today,
ask
yourself:
1. Where
are
the
roots
of
my
hope?
2. Are
they
in
the
ever-changing
fragile
circumstance
of
life,
or
are
they
ingrained
in
the
Lord
Jesus
Christ?
H ow
many
Christians
are
living
like
this
world
is
our
final
resting
place,
forgetting
we
are
on
mission
with
a
spiritual
battle
raging
all
around
us?
The
storms
and
turmoil
we
daily
witness
are
the
outward
manifestations
of
what
is
going
on
behind
the
scenes
in
the
spiritual
world
that
we
cannot
see.
Jonah
had
fallen
asleep
in
the
bowels
of
the
ship
while
those
above
were
in
fear
of
their
lives
in
the
midst
of
a
great
storm.
Jonah
was
on
a
detour
of
his
own
by
disobeying
the
instructions
from
God
to
go
to
Nineveh
to
preach
repentance.
Basically,
he
was
following
his
own
agenda
and
not
Gods.
He
ultimately
came
to
realize,
Those
who
cling
to
worthless
idols
forfeit
the
grace
that
could
be
theirs.
(Jonah
2:8,
NIV84)
Jesus
asked
the
same
question
of
his
disciples,
Why
are
you
sleeping?
he
asked
them.
Get
up
and
pray
so
that
you
will
not
fall
into
temptation.
(Luke
22:46,
NIV)
We
are
on
mission
and
must
stay
the
course.
For
all
of
us,
eternity
is
fast
approaching.
Gods
Word
counsels
us,
And
do
this,
understanding
the
present
time:
The
hour
has
already
come
for
you
to
wake
up
from
your
slumber,
because
our
salvation
is
nearer
now
than
when
we
first
believed.
The
night
is
nearly
over;
the
day
is
almost
here.
So
let
us
put
aside
the
deeds
of
darkness
and
put
on
the
armor
o
flight.
(Romans
13:1112,
NIV)
It
also
encourages
us
to
be
patient
and
stand
firm,
because
the
Lords
coming
is
near.
Dont
grumble
against
one
another,
brothers
and
sisters,
or
you
will
be
judged.
The
Judge
is
standing
at
the
door!(James
5:89,
NIV)
The
Lord,
himself,
counsels
us
to
watch
as
the
return
of
Christ
can
come
at
any
time:
Therefore
keep
watch
because
you
do
not
know
when
the
owner
of
the
house
will
come
backwhether
in
the
evening,
or
at
midnight,
or
when
the
rooster
crows,
or
at
dawn.
If
he
comes
suddenly,
do
not
let
him
find
you
sleeping.
What
I
say
to
you,
I
say
to
everyone:
Watch!
(Mark
13:3537,
NIV)
This
is
why
it
is
said:
Wake
up,
sleeper,
rise
from
the
dead,
and
Christ
will
shine
on
you.
(Ephesians
5:14,
NIV)

In
the
meantime,
we
have
the
privilege
to
be
about
the
work
of
the
Lord
in
our
everyday
life.
If
we
daily
present
ourselves
to
him
as
a
living
sacrifice,
he
can
continue
living
his
life
through
us,
and
we
have
the
prospect
of
his
favor
shining
on
our
lives.
What
a
blessing
and
privilege!
Those
who
are
wise
will
shine
like
the
brightness
of
the
heavens,
and
those
who
lead
many
to
righteousness,
like
the
stars
for
ever
and
ever.
(Daniel
12:3,
NIV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
following
Gods
agenda
for
me,
or
am
I
like
Jonah,
following
my
own
agenda?
I
once
heard
a
preacher
say,
Whatever
you
have
will
blow
off
on
the
way
up
or
burn
up
on
the
way
down.
There
is
truth
in
that
statement.
When
you
die
and
go
to
heaven,
the
cares
and
things
of
this
world
will
have
no
impact
whatsoever.
That
should
make
a
big
impact
on
us!
The
Psalmist
realized
this
when
he
wrote,
Whom
have
I
in
heaven
but
you?
And
earth
has
nothing
I
desire
besides
you.
My
flesh
and
my
heart
may
fail,
but
God
is
the
strength
of
my
heart
and
my
portion
forever.
(Psalm
73:2526,
NIV)
Our
inheritance
is
Jesus
Christ.
Someday
we
will
be
just
like
him.
As
for
me,
I
will
be
vindicated
and
will
see
your
face;
when
I
awake,
I
will
be
satisfied
with
seeing
your
likeness.
(Psalm
17:15,
NIV)
Not
only
will
we
be
satisfied,
but
we
also
will
be
ecstatic!
Dear
friends,
now
we
are
children
of
God,
and
what
we
will
be
has
not
yet
been
made
known.
But
we
know
that
when
Christ
appears,
we
shall
be
like
him,
for
we
shall
see
him
as
he
is.

John
3:2,
NIV)

this
world.
Our
glorified
bodies
are
going
to
be
something
to
behold:
Then
the
righteous
will
shine
like
the
sun
in
the
kingdom
of
their
Father.
Whoever
has
ears,
let
them
hear.
(Matthew
13:43,
NIV)
We
surely
want
to
be
motivated
by
the
values
revealed
to
us
by
the
Lord.
May
all
of
us
find
ways
to
share
Christ
in
our
areas
of
influence,
however
small
or
large
they
may
be.
Remember
this
truth:
Those
who
are
wise
will
shine
like
the
brightness
of
the
heavens,
and
those
who
lead
many
to
righteousness,
like
the
stars
for
ever
and
ever.(Daniel
12:3,
NIV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Has
the
impact
of
the
above
scriptural
truth
made
a
difference
in
my
attitude
and
behavior?
If
we
could
only
comprehend
what
the
Scripture
says
about
our
relationship
with
Jesus
Christ,
then
our
faith
potentially
would
be
greatly
strengthened.
The
power
and
the
wisdom
of
God
literally
reside
on
the
inside
of
us.
If
we
believe
this
and
meditate
on
it,
who
knows
what
the
Holy
Spirit
may
choose
to
reveal
to
us,
in
whom
are
hidden
all
the
treasures
of
wisdom
and
knowledge.(Colossians
2:3,
ESV)
In
fact,
from
a
human
standpoint,
they
are
unsearchable
except
by
revelation
from
the
Spirit
of
God.
These
things
God
has
revealed
to
us
through
the
Spirit.
For
the
Spirit
searches
everything,
even
the
depths
of
God.
(1
Corinthians
2:10,
ESV)
To
me,
though
I
am
the
very
least
of
all
the
saints,
this
grace
was
given,
to
preach
to
the
Gentiles
the
unsearchable
riches
of
Christ.
(Ephesians
3:8,
ESV)
But
we
ought
always
to
give
thanks
to
God
for
you,
brothers
beloved
by
the
Lord,
because
God
chose
you
as
the
first-fruits
to
be
saved,
through
sanctification
by
the
Spirit
and
belief
in
the
truth.
To
this
he
called
you
through
our
gospel,
so
that
you
may
obtain
the
glory
of
our
Lord
Jesus
Christ.
(2
Thessalonians
2:1314,
ESV)
Only
God
could
have
created
such
a
wonderful
plan
of
salvation
for
the
helpless
human
race
captured
in
the
grip
of
sin.
Our
salvation
is
a
work
of
God
who
has
saved
us
through
the
sanctification
of
the
Holy
Spirit.
The
purpose
of
believing
this
truth
is
that
we
may
obtain
the
glory
of
our
Lord
Jesus
Christ.

because
of
anything
we
have

but
because
of
his
own
purpose
and
grace.
This
grace
was
given
us
in
Christ
Jesus
before
the
beginning
of

(2
Timothy
1:9,
NIV)
It
is
all
because
of
God
that
we
are
saved.
He
has
shown
us
that
everything
is
sourced
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ.
He
is
truly
our
wisdom,
as
well
as
our
righteousness,
holiness,
and
redemption.
It
is
because
of
him
that
you
are
in
Christ
Jesus,
who
has
become
for
us
wisdom
from
Godthat
is,
our
righteousness,
holiness
and
redemption.
(1
Corinthians
1:30,
NIV)
As
we
grow
in
our
relationship
with
him,
may
the
Spirit
of
God
choose
to
reveal
more
of
himself
to
us,
so
we
will
know
what
he
wants
us
to
do.
May
he
help
us
develop
the
right
perspective
on
all
that
is
happening
in
our
world.
Today,
ask
yourself:
1. Am
I
beginning
to
understand
the
reservoir
of
power
and
wisdom
that
resides
in
the
inside
of
me
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ?

I

myself

it,
as
I
have
opportunity?

A
braham
was
a
man
who
had
true
faith
in
God.
True
faith
includes
belief,
conviction,
dependence
in
the
right
object
or
person,
and
follow
through
with
action
consistent
with
the
conviction.
James
said,
In
the
same
way,
faith
by
itself,
if
it
is
not
accompanied
by
action,
is
dead.
(James
2:17,
NIV)
Intellectual
belief
alone
is
not
true
faith.
Faith
in
Christ
and
in
what
he
has
done
on
the
cross
includes
conviction
and
dependence
in
him
alone,
which
ultimately
produces
works
through
the
believer.
Jesus
said,
Very
truly
I
tell
you,
unless
a
kernel
of
wheat
falls
to
the
ground
and
dies,
it
remains
only
a
single
seed.
But
if
it
dies,
it
produces
many
seeds.
(John
12:24,
NIV)
As
the
crucified
life
begins
to
work
in
the
heart
of
the
believer,
the
life
of
Christ
begins
to
take
control,
enabling
the
believer
to
live
for
the
will
of
God
rather
than
his
own
will.
The
self-life
dies,
and
the
Christ
life
begins
to
flourish
in
the
heart
of
the
believer.
Regarding
the
Word
of
God,
Jeremiah
said:
But
if
I
say,
I
will
not
mention
his
word
or
speak
anymore
in
his
name,
his
word
is
in
my
heart
like
a
fire,
a
fire
shut
up
in
my
bones.
I
am
weary
of
holding
it
in;
indeed,
I
cannot.(Jeremiah
20:9,
NIV)

The
Word
became
such
a
power
in
his
life
that
he
had
to
proclaim
it.
Jesus
Christ
wants
us
to
be
vessels
for
the
continuance
of
his
ministry
in
this
world.
He
wants
to
live
his
life
through
us
as
Christians.
The
works
of
the
Spirit
in
the
life
of
the
believer
are
a
natural
outcome
of
Christ
living
in
the
heart
of
the
believer.
The
Spirit
will
reveal
and
produce
the
works
that
God
has
already
planned
for
the
believer
to
do
as
he
submits
himself
to
the
will
of
God.
The
works
are
a
natural
outgrowth
of
faith
placed
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ.
What
will
a
seed
of
corn
or
wheat
produce
if
it
is
planted
in
the
right
kind
of
soil?
Look
at
the
application
we
find
from
the
words
of
Jesus,
All
by
itself
the
soil
produces
grainfirst
the
stalk,
then
the
head,
then
the
full
kernel
in
the
head.
(Mark
4:28,
NIV)
Faith
placed
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ
will
produce
works,
just
as

of

in
the
ground

not

will

Today,
ask
yourself:
S ome
say
we
should
redeem
time,
because
time
is
short.
The
secular
world
often
says
that
time
is
money,
so
be
busy
making
money
with
the
time
you
have.
In
the
above
passage
the
servants
are
told
to
put
the
masters
money
to
work
until
he
returns.
The
master
was
saying
he
would
return
and
would
want
a
report
or
an
accounting
of
what
was
done
with
his
money.
Jesus
Christ
said
a
lot
about
work
when
he
was
in
this
world.
He
was
in
the
world
for
a
purpose:
We
are
to
follow
in
the
steps
of
the
Master
whose
purpose
was
to
do
the
will
of
the
Father.
He
was
on
a
mission
while
in
this
world,
and
we
have
been
left
to
continue
the
mission
for
the
kingdom.
And
he
died
for
all,
that
those
who
live
should
no
longer
live
for
themselves
but
for
him
who
died
for
them
and
was
raised
again.
(2
Corinthians
5:15,
NIV)
We
must
ask
ourselves,
Are
we
living
for
the
will
of
God,
or
are
we
just
living
a
haphazard
life
investing
in
the
perishable
pursuits
of
this
temporary
world?
Jesus
has
said,
Tell
me
what
you
think
about
this:
A
man
had
two
sons.
He
went
to
the
first
son
and
said,
Son,
go
and
work
today
in
my
vineyard.
(Matthew
21:28,
NCV)
Each
day
we
are
to
go
to
work
in
his
vineyard.
Daily,
we
need
to
present
ourselves
as
a
living
sacrifice
to
God
to
be
serving
the
purposes
for
which
he
has
created
us.
That
will
be
different
for
each
person,
since
He
fashions
their
hearts
individually;
He
considers
all
their
works.(Psalm

We

to
the

Today,
ask

Jesus
Christ,
the

of
the

shows
us
the

to
life
and
immortality.
The
Psalmist
also
discovered
where
to
look
when
difficulty
came:
Light

for

are

We
have
what
I
call
the
TRIPLE
THREE
APPROACH,
outlined
in
2
Thessalonians,
the
third
chapter.
First,
he
promises
to
strengthen
and
protect
us:
But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT)
W e
need
to
know
what
the
will
of
God
is
in
order
to
make
sure
were
living
in
harmony
with
his
plan.
We
know
the
time
is
short.
The
stakes
are
high,
with
eternity
staring
us
in
the
face.
Are
we
working
to
convert
the
perishable
elements
of
our
lives
into
the
imperishable
values
of
the
kingdom
of
God?
God
needs
us
to
be
clean
vessels
so
he
can
live
and
work
through
us:
For
this
is
the
will
of
God,
your
sanctification:
that
you
abstain
from
sexual
immorality.
(1
Thessalonians
4:3,
ESV)
Therefore,
if
anyone
cleanses
himself
from
what
is
dishonorable,
he
will
be
a
vessel
for
honorable
use,
set
apart
as
holy,
useful
to
the
master
of
the
house,
ready
for
every
good
work.
(2
Timothy
2:21,
ESV)
Next,
we
need
to
cultivate
our
relationship
with
him:
Now
acquaint
yourself
with
Him,
and
be
at
peace;
thereby
good
will
come
to
you.
(Job
22:21,
NKJV)
The
blessing
of
God
follows
obedience
to
him
and
his
will.
One
only
has
to
read
the
Old
Testament
accounts
to
realize
the
truth
of
this
statement.
When
Israel
obeyed
God,
they
had
prosperity
and
peace.
When
they
disobeyed,
they
had
trouble.
Proverbs
states
this
is
age-old
truth:
Righteousness
exalts
a
nation,
but
sin
is
a
reproach
to
any
people.
(Proverbs
14:34,
NKJV)
Individually,
we
live
under
Gods
grace.
Sin
is
not
supposed
to
have
dominion
over
us:
Sin
shall
not
have
dominion
over
you,
for
you
are
not
under
law
but
under
grace.
(Romans
6:14,
NKJV)
So
you
also
should
consider
yourselves
to
be
dead
to
the
power
of
sin
and
alive
to
God
through
Christ
Jesus.
(Romans
6:11,
NLT)
God
has
given
the
believer
the
power
to
deal
with
sin:
For
if
you
live
according
to
the
flesh
you
will
die,
but
if
by
the
Spirit
you
put
to
death
the
deeds
of
the
body,
you
will
live.
(Romans
8:13,
ESV)
When
faced
with
temptation,
we
should
ask
the
Spirit
to
put
to
death
the
tendency
to
cave
in
to
the
temptation.
Then
we
must
quickly
do
the
next
thing
God
wants
us
to
do.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
taking
the
steps
God
wants
me
to
take
to
acquaint
myself
with
him,
and
to
make
sure
I
am
a
cleansed
vessel
he
can
use?
W e
use
this
key
verse
in
KingdomNomics
to
help
us
with
the
concepts
of
SOAK,
SOW,
and
FLOW.
As
we
soak
our
heart
in
the
Word
of
God
and
recite
our
verses
to
the
King,
the
Spirit
causes
our
heart
to
overflow
with
spiritual
nourishment.
This
discipline
strengthens
our
inner
person
so
Christ
can
prompt
us
to
help
continue
his
ministry
in
this
world.
Lets
focus
on
the
word
pen
mentioned
in
the
verse.
You
and
I
are
like
pens.
A
pen
is
an
instrument
used
to
communicate
a
message
to
others.
Without
ink,
the
pen
is
useless.
The
Spirit
can
be
like
the
ink
needed
for
a
pen
to
function.
In
order
for
us
to
be
pens
or
instruments
God
can
use
to
continue
writing
his
story
to
this
generation,
we
need
to
be
filled
with
the
ink
of
the
Holy
Spirit.
(We
do
this
through
SOAK,
SOW,
and
FLOW
principle
explained
in
our
books,
which
can
be
downloaded
FREE
http://kingdomnomics.com/devotional/#.VL8CCi592io.)
Bottom
line:
We
must
confess
our
sin
and
ask
the
Holy
Spirit
to
fill
and
control
us.
If
we
are
to
be
fruitful
in
our
knowledge
of
Jesus
Christ
that
is,
to
yield
active
CONVERTERLATORS
we
need
the
filling
of
the
Spirit.
A
pen
without
ink
is
left
on
the
desk.
Only
when
it
is
filled
with
ink
can
it
then
be
picked
up
by
the
writer
to
write
ones
message
to
the
world.
My
personal
goal
is
to
be
a
pen
filled
with
the
grace
of
the
Lord
Jesus
Christ
and
the
love
of
God
and
the
fellowship
of
the
Holy
Spirit
(2
Corinthians
13:14,
ESV)
Just
think
what
powerful
instruments
we
could
be
if
the
grace
of
Christ,
the
love
of
God,
and
the
communion
of
the
Holy
Spirit
dominated
our
lives.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
a
pen
filled
with
ink
fit
for
use
by
the
Master
to
continue
writing
his
story
to
the
people
around
me?
T he
words
still
apply
today:
and
there
remains
yet
very
much
land
to
possess.
Many
people
have
not
had
the
opportunity
to
respond
to
Jesus
Christ.
It
is
the
responsibility
of
each
generation
to
use
the
means
at
our
disposal
to
reach
others
for
Christ.
We
have
a
lot
of
work
to
do.
We
also
have
work
to
do
related
to
our
inner
person.
We
need
to
be
rooted
and
grounded
in
the
love
of
Christ,
strengthened
and
filled
with
the
Holy
Spirit
as
we
navigate
through
life.
This
is
one
of
the
reasons
Paul
must
have
said,
Not
that
I
have
already
obtained
all
this,
or
have
already
arrived
at
my
goal,
but
I
press
on
to
take
hold
of
that
for
which
Christ
Jesus
took
hold
of
me.
(Philippians
3:12,
NIV)
To
know
Christ
and
to
be
an
effective
witness
for
him
is
a
most
worthy
objective.
One
of
the
benefits
of
pressing
on
to
grow
in
our
faith
is
explained
in
this
passage:
But
as
it
is
written:
Eye
has
not
seen,
nor
ear
heard,
nor
have
entered
into
the
heart
of
man
the
things
which
God
has
prepared
for
those
who
love
Him.
But
God
has
revealed
them
to
us
through
His
Spirit.
For
the
Spirit
searches
all
things,
yes,
the
deep
things
of
God.
(1
Corinthians
2:910,
NKJV)
God
prepares
things
for
the
person
who
loves
God.
He
can
reveal
them
through
his
Spirit
and
his
Word
as
we
SOAK,
SOW,
AND
FLOW
with
them.
By
obeying
his
commandments
we
show
we
love
him.
Obedience
places
us
in
a
position
to
be
blessed
by
God.
All
power
belongs
to
God;
he
can
open
doors
of
opportunity
if
they
are
needed.
He
is
the
God
who
sees,
and
he
is
the
God
who
provides.
These
facts
alone
make
us
want
to
bring
all
aspects
of
our
lives
into
conformance
with
his
will.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Have
I
spotted
the
inner
and
outer
territories
in
my
life
that
God
wants
me
to
possess
in
his
name?
A s
we
look
at
our
world,
we
find
ourselves
in
a
spiritual
desert.
However,
God
has
made
provision
for
his
people
as
they
cultivate
their
relationship
with
him.
This
verse
gives
us
hope
as
we
make
our
way
through
the
world.
First,
we
have
Gods
promise
of
guiding
us
continually.
The
Psalmist
said,
My
eyes
are
ever
toward
the
LORD,
For
He
shall
pluck
my
feet
out
of
the
net.
(Psalm
25:15,
NKJV)
The
Lord
is
TRUE
NORTH
on
the
compass
of
our
life.
If
we
fix
our
eyes
on
him,
he
will
direct
our
steps
and
council
us.
How
does
he
satisfy
our
soul
in
drought?
He
does
it
through
his
Word.
Scripture
constantly
reminds
us
of
the
necessity
of
our
feeding
our
soul
on
the
Word
of
God:
So
He
humbled
you,
allowed
you
to
hunger,
and
fed
you
with
manna
which
you
did
not
know
nor
did
your
fathers
know,
that
He
might
make
you
know
that
man
shall
not
live
by
bread
alone;
but
man
lives
by
every
word
that
proceeds
from
the
mouth
of
the
LORD.
(Deuteronomy
8:3,
NKJV)
There
were
periods
in
Davids
life
when
he
had
to
strengthen
himself
in
the
Lord.
This
can
be
done
through
reflecting
on
Gods
Word
and
reminding
ourselves
of
his
promises
and
provisions
in
the
past.
We
also
know
his
presence
nourishes
us
as
we
look
to
him.
If
we
practice
strengthening
ourselves
in
the
Word,
we
will
be
like
a
watered
garden,
an
oasis
in
the
middle
of
the
desert.
His
Spirit
can
flow
through
us,
making
us
like
a
stream
whose
waters
do
not
fail.
In
practicing
KingdomNomics
and
developing
into
a
yield
active
CONVERTERLATOR,
the
Word
of
God
is
absolutely
the
central
ingredient
for
thriving.
Today,
ask
yourself:
In
what
ways
does
God
satisfy
my
thirsty
soul?
S cripture
has
a
lot
to
say
about
eyes.
Where
we
focus
our
eyes
is
important;
they
can
lead
us
astray
or
they
can
keep
our
attention
of
the
goals
God
has
places
in
front
of
us.
We
are
counseled
to
look
neither
to
the
right
or
the
left.
Like
the
runner
in
the
race,
we
are
to
keep
our
eyes
focused
on
the
goal.
As
we
focus
our
eyes
on
the
Word
of
God,
we
will
get
to
know
God
better:
Then
their
eyes
were
opened
and
they
recognized
him.
(Luke
24:31,
NIV)
Gods
Word
will
communicate
with
us,
and
we
will
recognize
the
truth
he
wants
us
to
experience.
We
will
grow
to
know
Christ
as
he
reveals
himself
to
us.
The
first
step
of
experiencing
all
that
Christ
has
for
is
coming
to
know
him.
Only
then
do
we
come
to
the
point,
Then
he
opened
their
minds
so
they
could
understand
the
Scriptures.
(Luke
24:45,
NIV)
The
concepts
in
the
Word
of
God
are
spiritually
discerned.
We
understand
as
the
Spirit
enlightens
our
mind
and
gives
us
understanding
to
properly
apply
the
Word
of
God
to
our
life.
As
we
progress
in
knowing
Christ,
and
the
Spirit
enlightens
our
mind
so
we
can
understand
the
Scripture
from
a
practical
standpoint,
we
position
ourselves
for
the
next
step.
We
are
then
ready
to
be
empowered
by
Gods
Spirit.
And
behold,
I
am
sending
the
promise
of
my
Father
upon
you.
But
stay
in
the
city
until
you
are
clothed
with
power
from
on
high.
(Luke
24:49,
ESV)
We
become
empowered
with
the
Spirit
of
God
when
we
ask
in
faith
to
be
filled
with
him.
To
know
Christ,
it
is
important
to
continually
be
in
the
Scripture
to
comprehend
what
Scripture
has
to
say
and
to
then
be
empowered
by
the
Holy
Spirit.
Today,
ask
yourself:
In
what
way
will
I
open
my
eyes
to
God
today?
G od
told
the
people
in
captivity
that
he
would
visit
them
and
perform
his
good
word
toward
them,
giving
them
both
a
future
and
hope.
Even
though
this
passage
was
written
to
the
people
of
that
time
in
captivity,
the
principles
still
apply
today.
Every
time
we
experience
the
fulfillment
of
a
promise
God
makes
to
us,
we
are
experiencing
his
visitation
and
the
performance
of
his
good
Word.
For
example,
we
live
by
his
Spirit,
and
by
his
Spirit
he
fills
us
so
we
can
put
to
death
the
misdeeds
of
the
body.
He
performs
his
Word
through
us.
We
need
to
have
a
greater
expectation
for
the
working
of
God
in
our
lives.
We
need
to
realize,
For
as
the
heavens
are
higher
than
the
earth,
so
are
My
ways
higher
than
your
ways,
and
My
thoughts
than
your
thoughts.
(Isaiah
55:9,
NKJV)
Failing
to
realize
the
truth
of
this
passage
limits
God
work
in
our
lives.
We
must
expect
to
see
God
working
in
ways
that
far
exceed
anything
we
can
imagine.
It
seems
wise
to
develop
this
attitude
by
following
these
steps:
But
as
for
me,
I
would
seek
God,
and
to
God
I
would
commit
my
causeWho
does
great
things,
and
unsearchable,
marvelous
things
without
number.
(Job
5:89,
NKJV)
But
as
it
is
written:
Eye
has
not
seen,
nor
ear
heard,
nor
have
entered
into
the
heart
of
man
the
things
which
God
has
prepared
for
those
who
love
Him.
But
God
has
revealed
them
to
us
through
His
Spirit.
For
the
Spirit
searches
all
things,
yes,
the
deep
things
of
God.
(1
Corinthians
2:910,
NKJV)
Seeking
God
is
the
first
priority
in
our
everyday
living.
Second,
we
want
to
commit
our
cause
to
God.
After
all,
He
is
the
one
who
does
the
great,
unsearchable,
and
marvelous
things
without
number.
There
is
no
better
way
to
start
each
day
than
with
this
attitude
and
commitment.
Then
maybe,
we
can
say
with
the
Psalmist,
Many,
O
LORD
my
God,
are
Your
wonderful
works
which
You
have
done;
and
Your
thoughts
toward
us
cannot
be
recounted
to
You
in
order;
if
I
would
declare
and
speak
of
them,
they
are
more
than
can
be
numbered.
(Psalm
40:5,
NKJV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Do
I
expect
and
anticipate
God
to
do
great
things
in
my
life?
Or
do
I
limit
God
working
in
my
life
because
my
view
of
him
is
too
small?
O pportunity
is
one
of
the
greatest
blessings
that
can
be
given
to
a
person.
Whenever
we
have
opportunity
to
do
something
that
advances
the
kingdom
of
God,
we
want
to
take
advantage
of
it.
Sometimes
we
have
only
one
opportunity
to
do
something.
We
never
know
if
the
same
opportunity
will
come
by
again.
The
Lord
tells
us
to
be
strong
and
to
work,
for
he
is
with
us
in
our
endeavors.
His
Spirit
gives
us
the
capacity,
the
talent,
and
the
treasure,
if
needed,
to
accomplish
his
purposes.
We
do
not
want
to
miss
out
on
opportunities
he
offers
opportunities
such
as
bringing
glory
to
his
name,
blessing
in
this
world,
reward
in
eternity,
and
a
life
that
will
echo
into
eternity.
Times
may
be
difficult
now,
but
blessing
awaits
believers
who
harmonize
our
lives
with
the
will
of
God.
A
major
stimulant
motivates
us
to
work:
In
just
a
little
while,
he
who
is
coming
will
come
and
will
not
delay.
(Hebrews
10:37,
NIV)
The
return
of
Jesus
Christ
to
take
his
people
to
himself
may
happen
at
any
time.
Also,
we
are
aware
our
time
bubble
can
pop,
landing
us
in
the
eternal
paradigm
at
any
moment.
Working
for
the
Lord
is
one
of
the
main
avenues
for
us
to
access
the
bread
of
life.
As
believers,
we
are
drawn
to
the
Lord:
My
soul
thirsts
for
God,
for
the
living
God.
When
can
I
go
and
meet
with
God?
(Psalm
42:2,
NIV)
They
said
to
him,
Sir,
give
us
this
bread
always
Jesus
said
to
them,
I
am
the
bread
of
life;
whoever
comes
to
me
shall
not
hunger,
and
whoever
believes
in
me
shall
never
thirst.
(John
6:3435,
ESV)
Working
for
the
Lord
brings
us
into
his
presence.
For
with
you
is
the
fountain
of
life;
in
your
light
do
we
see
light.
(Psalm
36:9,
ESV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
taking
advantage
of
the
opportunities
God
is
giving
me
to
help
advance
his
kingdom?
How
does
knowing
that
Jesuss
return
is
imminent
motivate
me?
G od
is
in
the
creation
business.
When
you
become
a
CONVERTERLATOR,
you
are
a
new
instrument
of
God.
God
uses
you
to
convert
time,
talent,
and
treasure
into
the
imperishable
values
of
the
kingdom.
He
also
works
through
you
to
bring
about
the
new
in
others
lives.
Therefore,
if
anyone
is
in
Christ,
he
is
a
new
creation.
The
old
has
passed
away;
behold,
the
new
has
come.
(2
Corinthians
5:17,
ESV)
Our
new
worldview
empowers
us
to
live
for
the
one
who
died
for
us.
The
CONVERTERLATOR
is
on
the
lookout.
Behold,
I
am
doing
a
new
thing;
now
it
springs
forth,
do
you
not
perceive
it?
I
will
make
a
way
in
the
wilderness
and
rivers
in
the
desert.
(Isaiah
43:19,
ESV)
We
live
in
anticipation
of
seeing
the
hand
of
God
at
work
in
us
and
in
our
circumstances.
He
is
always
in
the
process
of
changing
us,
and
doing
new
things
that
can
spring
forth
at
any
time.
As
we
cultivate
our
relationship
with
him,
we
learn
secrets
of
the
kingdom
from
the
Spirit:
You
have
heard;
now
see
all
this;
and
will
you
not
declare
it?
From
this
time
forth
I
announce
to
you
new
things,
hidden
things
that
you
have
not
known.
(Isaiah
48:6,
ESV)
Our
job
is
to
declare
and
share
what
he
reveals
to
us
so
others
can
enjoy
the
benefits
of
being
members
of
the
kingdom.
Finally,
And
he
who
was
seated
on
the
throne
said,
Behold,
I
am
making
all
things
new.
Also
he
said,
Write
this
down,
for
these
words
are
trustworthy
and
true.
(Revelation
21:5,
ESV)
For
the
believer,
this
newness
begins
with
the
new
birth
a
knowledge
that
we
are
heading
into
the
new
world
with
new
values,
new
relationships,
and
a
new
environment
where
we
will
be
able
to
bask
in
the
light
of
his
ever-present
presence.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
enjoying
the
new
that
God
brings
into
my
life
through
my
living
relationship
with
Jesus
Christ?
T
he
Psalmist
made
it
his
life
habit
to
set
the
Lord
before
him.
This
is
an
important
lesson
for
us
from
an
application
standpoint.
When
we
face
problems,
it
is
easy
to
focus
on
the
problem.
Focusing
on
the
problem
alone
can
sap
our
energy
and
lead
us
down
the
path
to
depression.
Problems
can
be
the
tools
of
the
CONSUMERLATOR
if
we
are
not
careful
how
we
treat
them.
By
focusing
on
the
Lord,
we
can
CONVERTERLATE
the
problem,
using
it
to
strengthen
us
in
our
relationship
with
the
Lord.
By
focusing
on
the
Lord
we
make
the
great
discovery:
For
with
you
is
the
fountain
of
life;
in
your
light
do
we
see
light.
(Psalm
36:9,
ESV)
The
Lord
is
the
source
of
our
life.
Strength,
joy,
and
help
flow
from
the
Lord.
If
we
focus
on
the
problem,
it
can
consume
our
life.
When
we
look
to
the
Lord,
we
learn
that
everything
is
sourced
in
him,
and
that
he
is
the
source
of
our
sufficiency
to
live
the
victorious
life
in
Christ.
But
thanks
be
to
God,
who
in
Christ
always
leads
us
in
triumphal
procession,
and
through
us
spreads
the
fragrance
of
the
knowledge
of
him
everywhere.
(2
Corinthians
2:14,
ESV)
Now
we
can
be
consistent
in
our
daily
walk
steadfast
and
immovable.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
setting
the
Lord
before
me
daily,
so
I
can
confidently
face
the
issues
in
my
life?
T
his
passage
Scripture
helps
us
become
familiar
with
the
Word
of
God.
We
have
been
created
for
Jesus
Christ.
I
want
to
know
what
he
created
me
for,
and
what
his
purpose
is
for
me.
Only
through
the
Word
of
God
can
we
find
the
answers
to
these
questions.
He
is
the
grand
designer;
everything
has
been
created
for
his
purposes.
Faith
and
power
are
a
big
part
of
this
equation:
So
that
your
faith
might
not
rest
in
the
wisdom
of
men
but
in
the
power
of
God.
(1
Corinthians
2:5,
ESV)
The
power
involved
in
creating
everything,
both
visible
and
invisible,
is
incompre-hensible.
The
powers
human
agencies
exert
are
nothing
compared
to
the
power
God.
As
we
begin
to
comprehend
the
scope
of
this
truth,
we
can
see
why
Paul
said,
Not
that
we
are
sufficient
in
ourselves
to
claim
anything
as
coming
from
us,
but
our
sufficiency
is
from
God.
(2
Corinthians
3:5,
ESV)
Apart
from
Christ,
we
can
do
nothing.
We
do
not
have
the
power.
Paul
shows
us
the
way
when
he
said,
Yes,
we
had
the
sentence
of
death
in
ourselves,
that
we
should
not
trust
in
ourselves
but
in
God
who
raises
the
dead.
(2
Corinthians
1:9,
NKJV)
This
is
what
you
call
power.
Christ
raises
the
dead.
Therefore,
it
makes
sense
to
trust
in
the
one
who
has
ultimate
power,
and
not
to
trust
in
ourselves,
the
weak
vessels
that
we
are.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Am
I
trusting
in
my
own
power
or
am
I
consciously
trusting
in
Christ,
the
source
of
ultimate
power,
to
live
in
and
through
me?
W
OW!
The
last
hour,
from
Gods
perspective,
is
here!
What
does
this
say
to
you
and
me
as
CONVERTERLATORS?
It
tells
me
we
must
be
busy
doing
the
Kings
business.
We
need
to
stay
on
mission,
doing
the
works
God
has
prepared
for
us.
Many
of
our
fellow
believers
have
been
swept
aside
by
mission
drift.
According
to
this
last
hour
passage,
our
loaf
of
time
is
getting
short.
We
need
to
counter
the
false
messages
of
the
antichrists
who
cause
many
not
to
find
the
way,
the
truth,
and
the
life
revealed
to
us
by
Jesus
Christ.
It
is
critical
we
listen
and
obey
what
Peter
said:
Because
of
that
experience,
we
have
even
greater
confidence
in
the
message
proclaimed
by
the
prophets.
You
must
pay
close
attention
to
what
they
wrote,
for
their
words
are
like
a
lamp
shining
in
a
dark
place
until
the
Day
dawns,
and
Christ
the
Morning
Star
shines
in
your
hearts.
(2
Peter
1:19,
NLT)
Life
and
immortality
are
just
around
the
corner.
Soon
the
mortal
will
be
swallowed
up
by
the
immortal.
In
the
meantime
we
need
to
give
the
people
of
our
generation
the
opportunity
to
respond
to
the
wonderful
love
of
God
by
sharing:

This
is
how
God
showed
his
love
to
us:
He
sent
his
one
and
only
Son
into
the
world
so
that
we
could
have
life
through
him.
This
is
what
real
love
is:
It
is
not
our
love
for
God;
it
is
Gods
love
for
us.
He
sent
his
Son
to
die
in
our
place
to
take
away
our
sins.
(1
John
4:910,
NCV)
However,
to
do
this
effectively,
we
must
realize
that
The
night
is
almost
gone;
the
day
of
salvation
will
soon
be
here.
So
remove
your
dark
deeds
like
dirty
clothes,
and
put
on
the
shining
armor
of
right
living.
(Romans
13:12,
NLT)
Today,
ask
yourself:
Have
I
found
a
way
to
be
involved
in
the
Great
Commission?
Do
I
realize
the
time
is
short
to
do
whatever
I
am
going
to
do
for
the
Lord?
T
his
is
what
relationship
is
all
about
when
we
trust
Jesus
Christ
as
our
personal
Lord
and
Savior.
Everything
becomes
new,
and
we
are
given
a
new
lease
on
life.
We
discover
that
Christ
himself
is
our
inheritance,
our
treasure.
As
we
SOAK
and
SOW
in
his
living
and
powerful
Word,
and
then
FLOW
with
the
Spirit,
we
are
transformed.
When
we
are
down,
he
restores
our
soul
and
he
leads
us
in
the
way
we
should
go.
He
becomes
the
strength
of
our
heart.
With
increasing
confidence
we
develop
a
strong
sense
that
The
LORD
will
fulfill
his
purpose
for
me;
your
steadfast
love,
O
LORD,
endures
forever.
Do
not
forsake
the
work
of
your
hands.
(Psalm
138:8,
ESV)
We
experience
the
reality
of
this
when
we
cast
our
burdens
on
the
Lord.
We
discover
this
amazing
truth:
He
will
sustain
you;
he
will
never
permit
the
righteous
to
be
moved.
(Psalm
55:22,
ESV)
It
is
wonderful
to
discover
another
great
secret
of
the
kingdom:
Not
that
we
are
sufficient
in
ourselves
to
claim
anything
as
coming
from
us,
but
our
sufficiency
is
from
God.
(2
Corinthians
3:5,
ESV)
Our
sufficiency
comes
from
God
and
not
from
ourselves,
for
we
have
this
treasure
in
jars
of
clay,
to
show
that
the
surpassing
power
belongs
to
God
and
not
to
us.
(2
Corinthians
4:7,
ESV)
We
begin
to
see
the
reality
of
the
new
life
sourced
in
the
person
of
Jesus
Christ:
And
he
who
was
seated
on
the
throne
said,
Behold,
I
am
making
all
things
new.
Also
he
said,
Write
this
down,
for
these
words
are
trustworthy
and
true.
(Revelation
21:5,
ESV)
Today,
ask
yourself:
In
what
ways
am
I
developing
a
living
relationship
with
Jesus
Christ?
W e
are
influenced
by
both
the
world
we
see
and
the
unseen
spiritual
world:
For
we
do
not
wrestle
against
flesh
and
blood,
but
against
the
rulers,
against
the
authorities,
against
the
cosmic
powers
over
this
present
darkness,
against
the
spiritual
forces
of
evil
in
the
heavenly
places.
Therefore
take
up
the
whole
armor
of
God,
that
you
may
be
able
to
withstand
in
the
evil
day,
and
having
done
all,
to
stand
firm.
(Ephesians
6:12
13,
ESV)
Many
times
what
we
see
in
this
world
is
the
result
of
spiritual
battles
being
fought
in
the
unseen
world.
The
Psalmist
prayed,
My
soul,
wait
silently
for
God
alone,
for
my
expectation
is
from
Him.
He
only
is
my
rock
and
my
salvation;
He
is
my
defense;
I
shall
not
be
moved.
(Psalm
62:56,
NKJV)
Scripture
makes
it
clear
that
all
power
belongs
to
God:
God
has
spoken
once,
twice
I
have
heard
this:
That
power
belongs
to
God.
(Psalm
62:11,
NKJV)
Here,
again,
relationship
is
extremely
important.
He
is
a
shield
to
those
who
trust
in
him;
he
is
our
defense,
and
our
salvation.

It
makes
sense
to
expect
help
from
him
rather
than
from
something
or
someone
else.
Our
hope
is
in
him,
and
we
do
well
to
wait
silently
for
him
to
act
on
our
behalf.
Today,
ask
yourself:
Do
I
realize
a
spiritual
battle
is
raging
around
me?
Am
I
trusting
God
to
be
my
shield?
Y es,
the
Lord
is
going
to
return
to
this
world.
Count
on
it.
Just
as
there
were
many
prophecies
in
the
Old
Testament
regarding
the
first
coming
of
Jesus
Christ,
there
are
many
passages
like
the
one
above
stating
how
Jesus
Christ
is
going
to
return
to
this
world
to
set
up
his
Kingdom.
We
are
told
to
watch,
and
to
be
prepared
for
this
event.
This
world
is
not
our
home.
In
fact,
we
become
more
uncomfortable
in
it
as
we
see
more
of
the
previews
of
coming
attractions
recorded
in
the
book
of
Revelation:
For
our
citizenship
is
in
heaven,
from
which
we
also
eagerly
wait
for
the
Savior,
the
Lord
Jesus
Christ,
who
will
transform
our
lowly
body
that
it
may
be
conformed
to
His
glorious
body,
according
to
the
working
by
which
He
is
able
even
to
subdue
all
things
to
Himself.
(Philippians
3:2021,
NKJV)
You
therefore,
beloved,
since
you
know
this
beforehand,
beware
lest
you
also
fall
from
your
own
steadfastness,
being
led
away
with
the
error
of
the
wicked;
but
grow
in
the
grace
and
knowledge
of
our
Lord
and
Savior
Jesus
Christ.
To
Him
be
the
glory
both
now
and
forever.
Amen.
(2
Peter
3:1718,
NKJV)
Our
best
protection
is
to
feed
ourselves
continually
on
the
Word
of
God
and
cultivate
our
relationship
with
Jesus
Christ
through
obeying
his
Word.
We
need
to
remember
his
goal
for
us
is
to
be
ready
when
he
returns:
Now
may
the
God
of
peace
Himself
sanctify
you
completely;
and
may
your
whole
spirit,
soul,
and
body
be
preserved
blameless
at
the
coming
of
our
Lord
Jesus
Christ.
He
who
calls
you
is
faithful,
who
also
will
do
it.
(1
Thessalonians
5:2324,
NKJV)
Christ
will
do
the
sanctifying
in
us
as
we
submit
to
his
Lordship.
Today,
ask
yourself:
How
does
my
anticipation
of
the
Lords
return
impact
my
daily
behavior?
