The Newness of Life
Q
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not
perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:1819, NIV)

G ods Word is wonderful, telling us continually that he is in the renewal business. It is exciting being a
Christian because we anticipate that God will always do something new and exciting in our life. Our
responsibility is to place ourselves in a position so God can work through us. How do we do this?

First, we need to stop dwelling on the past. When we dwell on the past, it is like trying to drive a car always
looking in the rear view mirror. There is nothing we can do about our past except to put aside the parts that
pull us down, and to learn not to make the same mistakes in the future.

God is always moving. He is in the creation business. He is in the renewal


business.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10,
ESV)

We are new creatures in Christ: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a


new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2
Corinthians 5:17, ESV)

If we walk in faith, he will provide the way in the wilderness and streams in the spiritual desert of this world.
If we are sensitive to his leading we will recognize that he is in the process of doing a new thing in us and
through us. When this happens, it exciting to know we are in the center of Gods will.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead (Philippians 3:1213, NIV)

Today, ask yourself:

Do I dwell on my past, or am I looking for the new things that God wants to do in my life?

The Secret to Finding Gods Favor
Q
Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at
my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.
(Proverbs 8:3335, NIV)

P eople are looking for LIFE and FAVOR or advantages in their circumstances. However, most of the world is
looking in the wrong places for these ingredients.

In this incredible passage of Scripture, we learn what it means to find


life from Gods perspective, and how to experience the promise of
receiving favor from God.

Life and favor are sourced in God alone.


In order to receive Gods favor, we need to have a relationship with God
through Jesus Christ. We are declared righteous when we trust in Jesus
alone for our salvation:

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one
confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:10, ESV)

Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12, NIV)

The Psalmist recognizes that his success happened because of Gods favor:

Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was
dismayed. (Psalm 30:7, NIV)

It was only because of Gods favor that the Hebrew people were able to take possession of the Promised Land:

For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was
Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. (Psalm 44:3, NKJV)

In practicing the concepts of KingdomNomics, our prayer should be:

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us yes, establish the work of
our hands. (Psalm 90:17, NIV)

This is a tremendous incentive for us to spend time in the Word of God. For it is here we find the instruction
and wisdom from above that will help make us the kind of person God can favor.

Do you know God is looking for people he can favor?

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is
blameless toward him (2 Chronicles 16:9, ESV)

Today, ask yourself:

Am I allowing the Spirit of God to develop in me a blameless heart that is loyal to God and fully committed to him?

Gods Favor at Work
Q
Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel (Daniel 1:9, NIV)

D aniel is a prime example of the kind of person God is looking to use. Daniels heart was fully committed to
God. He always sought the will of God, and he let his light shine before his peers without fear. As a result,
God used him in mighty ways that will echo into eternity.

On numerous occasions, God caused officials and even kings to favor Daniel. God revealed secrets to Daniel.
Because of Gods favor, Daniel was elevated to the highest levels of power, position, and wealth in the world
system of his day. Gods favor rested big time on Daniel.

There is great opportunity for us to see the hand of God at work in


our lives. He creates in us a God-given, God-driven desire to please
him.

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to


come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those
who sincerely seek him. (Hebrews 11:6, NLT) What a great promise!

Our relationship with God is an unfolding of a series of revelations.


As we cultivate our relationship with him, he reveals himself to us.

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones
who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And
I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. (John 14:21, NLT)

It should be the desire of our heart that God would reveal himself to us to the extent he is willing to do so.

The timing of God working in our lives is subject to his sovereignty. He is our reward, our inheritance, and our
portion. He promises that he is good to those who depend on him, and who search for him. In the meantime,
we wait patiently for him to act.

I say to myself, The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him! The Lord is good to those who depend
on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. (Lamentations
3:2426, NLT)

Today, ask yourself:

Is my heart fully committed to God so he can reveal himself to me and work in my life?

Vision of Life
Q
Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
(Proverbs 29:18, KJV 1900)

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12, NIV)

I n KingdomNomics, we emphasize the wisdom of converting the perishable time, talent and treasure of this
world into the imperishable values of the real world to come: eternity.

In Psalm 90:12, we are taught to number our days in order to gain a heart of wisdom. The time will come when
we will turn in the temporary body we are leasing during our life
on earth. We do not have unlimited time to make decisions.

How many people do you know who have no purpose? Failure to


develop a personal vision of life will result in a disaster from an
eternal standpoint. Proverbs 29:18 says that people without a
proper vision of life perish.

There is one appointment none of us will miss. That is the time

For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
(Ecclesiastes 12:14, NIV)

Nothing in all creation is hidden from Gods sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to
whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13, NIV)

This is a sobering fact to contemplate.

Fortunately, for the Christian, our sin is judged at the cross. When we become aware of an attitude, thought, or
action we commit that is contrary to the will of God, we want to confess it and repent of it, so we can continue
to enjoy communion with the Holy Spirit.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
(1 John 1:9, NIV)

Today, ask yourself:

Am I developing an eternal perspective of life? When I become aware of my sins, do I confess and repent?

Give Generously
Q
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes
from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. We are foreigners and strangers in your sight,
as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. Lord our God, all this abundance
that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs
to you. (1 Chronicles 29:1416, NIV)

W e can take to heart the remarks King David made as he neared the end of his life. David summarizes
exactly what our situation is, and the perspective we should have.

He acknowledges that God is the source of all wealth. Everything


comes from God, and any giving we do is returning what has come
from his hand.

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability
to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to
your ancestors, as it is today. (Deuteronomy 8:18, NIV)

ability to produce it. There is nothing for us to be proud about.

In Gods sight we are strangers and foreigners in this world. David reminds us of this truth, telling us our
citizenship is in heaven. Furthermore, he reminds us that our earthly life is like a shadow. Our time bubble can
pop at any time, landing us in eternity, a totally different paradigm with values foreign to the world we now
inhabit.

David reiterates the truth that everything comes from God and belongs to God. This is a difficult concept; many
people believe that everything they have belongs to them, and they can do anything they want with it.

Wise people conclude that King Davids words in todays scripture passage are still true today. We come to the
King with a willing mind, generously helping to build the body of Christ by extending others the opportunity to
begin a personal relationship with him.

In what ways does my view of giving parallel that of King David?

The Transforming Process
Q
I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into
eternal dwellings. (Luke 16:9, NIV)

Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart
rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands
had done and on the labor in which I had toiled; and indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was
no profit under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 2:1011, NKJV)

In the first verse Jesus tells us how to use worldly wealth. In the second scripture we see the disillusionment
of King Solomon during the period when he sought to experience every worldly pleasure, build great works,
accumulate gold and silver, and pursue wisdom and knowledge.

He concluded that all of this activity was a grasping for the wind;
there was no profit under the sun. Even though Solomon was the
richest person of his day and had the power to experience every
pleasure known to man, in the end he realized he had nothing.

By using a transforming process that I call the CONVERTERLATOR


CONCEPT, we can escape the dead end King Solomon experienced.
Jesus Christ tells us how to do it.

He tells us to use the perishable time, talent, and treasures of this


world to win friends for eternity.

When we invest in the lives of people and spread the Word of God,
we build treasures for ourselves in heaven. Gods Word and the
souls of people are the only items that will survive in the eternal paradigm.

Giving or investing is at the heart of the CONVERTERLATOR. When we invest properly in kingdom objectives
like the Great Commission, we convert time, talent, and treasure into imperishable eternal treasure.

Today, ask yourself:

In what way will I put the CONVERLATOR concept into practice?

What Question Would You Ask Jesus?


Q
So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, What do you want me to do for you? They said to Him, Lord, that
our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received
sight, and they followed Him. (Matthew 20:3234, NKJV)

Then the Lord said to me, You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.
(Jeremiah 1:12, NKJV)

I f Jesus Christ were to stop by your home, what one question would ask him? I believe todays passages
suggest a question that should be high on our priority list: Lord, please open our eyes so we can know you
better; see and understand your will for us in the time we have remaining in this world.

In our relationship with the Lord, we receive one revelation after


another so we can understand what he wants us to do.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious
Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you
may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be
enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has
called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and
his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the
same as the mighty strength. (Ephesians 1:1719, NIV)

These men received their sight. Then what did they do? They
followed Jesus.

The questions for you and me are:

Are we trustworthy to be given revelation from him?

What will we do with revelations Christ gives to us?

Will we follow through in accordance with what he has revealed to us?

Will we do the works he has prepared for us?

It is interesting to note in the Jeremiah passage that the Lord said, You have seen well, for I am ready to
perform My word.

If we see well what God wants done, then we are in a position where he can perform his Word in and through
us.

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
(Philippians 2:13, ESV)

Today, ask yourself:

Do I consistently ask God to reveal how he wants me to use my time, talent, and treasure to advance his kingdom?
Am I following through with what he reveals to me?

Two Lessons from King Uzziah
to Pursue and Avoid
Q
He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the
Lord, God gave him success. (2 Chronicles 26:5, NIV)

W e learn two great lessons from the life of King Uzziah, who reigned in Judah for a long period of time. We
want to pursue the first lesson, but avoid the second lesson like the plague. This is particularly true if we
practice KingdomNomics and are in a leadership position.

It is written, He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done. He sought God
during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him
success. (2 Chronicles 26:45, NIV)

This is the formula for success. Success comes from the Lord. God gave
Uzziah success in response for his having sought the Lord.

The Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread as far as
the border of Egypt, because he had become very powerful.
(2 Chronicles 26:8, NIV)

In Jerusalem he made devices invented for use on the towers and on the
corner defenses so that soldiers could shoot arrows and hurl large stones
from the walls. His fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped until he became powerful. (2 Chronicles
26:15, NIV)

Then something terrible happened. Uzziah became proud, and his pride caused him to violate the law.

But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and
entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. (2 Chronicles 26:16, NIV)

Only the sons of Aaron the priests were to do this ceremonial act of worship. Because of this transgression
God struck Uzziah with leprosy.

King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate houseleprous, and banned from the
temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land. (2 Chronicles
26:21, NIV)

What a price to pay! Uzziah started out well, but he forfeited the success God had given him. His kingship was
given over to his son because of Uzziahs pride.

Its good to remember that we are all the same at the foot of the cross. We have all sinned, and we all need the
same remedy: Jesus Christ.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I risking Gods blessing because I am following my own way instead of Gods way?

Build on the Right foundation
Q
My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own
cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (Jeremiah 2:13, NIV)

F rom an eternal perspective, it is critical we build on the right foundation. And that foundation is Jesus Christ.
Because we live in a deceptive world, it is possible to be diverted and go off mission.

The passage from Jeremiah reminds us we must root ourselves in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the source
of life that sustains and endures.

Just as in the days of Jeremiah, many people today have abandoned the fountain of living water. Instead, they
seek satisfaction in the perishable values of this world.

for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to
Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. (2 Timothy 4:10, NIV)

The love of this world is the lure that can lead to destruction and the loss of
eternal reward. Families get sacrificed for careers. At the end of a career,
many retirees do not know what to do with themselves. Some invest their
time, talent, and treasure in the temporary values of this world, not realizing
the eternal cost of doing so. These people are building for themselves broken
cisterns that cannot hold water.

The longer we live, the more we begin to appreciate the fact that we are only
passing through. Everything is temporary. Time flies by. People are always on

We want to remember:

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For
everything in the worldthe lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifecomes not from the Father
but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. (1 John
2:1517, NIV)

May all of us be wise enough to drink at the fountain of living water, and to build on a sure foundation for the
life to come.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I sure that Jesus Christ is the sure foundation of my life, and that I am cultivating my relationship with him?

Ever Grateful
Q
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He
has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we
have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:1214, NKJV)

T his passage is a great candidate for being a Spiritual M & M (Memorize & Meditate). I lift my heart in
gratitude to God for his marvelous provision of salvation. Truly, he is the God who sees and provides.

God himself has qualified us to partake of the inheritance of the saints. He qualifies us when we place our faith
in the person of Jesus Christ, alone, for our salvation.

Salvation is a gift of God. Paul emphasizes this:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord. (Romans 6:23, NKJV)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8
9, NKJV)

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in
Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified
by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law
no flesh shall be justified. (Galatians 2:16, NKJV)

The beautiful aspect about this is God has made salvation a present possession of the believer. He has
delivered us. Note the past tense.

In addition, he has transported (past tense) us into the kingdom of his son. It is a done deal.

Through the blood of Christ we have redemption. The blood of Christ is the only payment acceptable by God
for our sin. His forgiveness is a present possession.

I tell you the truth, whoever hears what I say and believes in the One who sent me has eternal life. That person
will not be judged guilty but has already left death and entered life. (John 5:24, NCV)

Today, ask yourself:

Have I taken a few moments to express my gratitude to God for his unspeakable gift of salvation through Jesus
Christ?

Christ Alone
Q
Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my
Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast
out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? And then will I declare to them, I never
knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does
them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (Matthew 7:2124, ESV)

R ecently, I received an email from a subscriber of KingdomNomics wanting an explanation of the above
verses. No matter how great the ministry of an individual may be, we must remember the source, power,
and foundation of our salvation is the person of Jesus Christ alone. Only he gives us right standing before God,
not our works.

I believe Matthew 7:2124 is referring to people who are trusting in their works to get into heaven. Works, no
matter how wonderful, are not an acceptable payment for our sin, nor do they make us right with God. Only
the blood of Jesus Christ is the acceptable payment for sin, and
only by his blood do we have redemption in Christ. The people
mentioned in the above passage are referring to themselves,
saying their works ought to qualify them to enter heaven.
Without realizing it, they are trusting in themselves rather
than in Jesus Christ.

Only God qualifies us: Giving thanks to the Father, who has
qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He
has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us
to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
(Colossians 1:1214, ESV)

This is a 100% work by God. It is only God who qualifies,
delivers, and transfers and in whom there is the forgiveness of
sin.

Remember: Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one
confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:910, ESV)

The following passage states what the will of the father is, and this is what we want to be sure to rely on. Only
Jesus Christ is our salvation. Nothing else.

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life,
and I will raise him up on the last day (John 6:40, ESV).
The works will follow true faith.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I looking to Jesus Christ alone for my salvation, trusting only in his death, burial, and resurrection?

Walking the Talk
Q
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16, NKJV)

W e recently received a question from a subscriber of the 31 day KingdomNomics Applied devotionals about
how to overcome a particular moral issue in his life, in addition to fending off the accusations of Satan even
after confession of the sin to God.

We suggested several steps an individual can take to overcome sin. The first step is to confess: If we confess

Confession includes repentance from continuing or practicing the sin.

Second, God gives us the power to overcome temptation and sin by the
power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an
obligationbut it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live
according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the
misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8:1213, NIV)

Because we are now under grace, we are no longer under the law. Grace
gives us the power to overcome temptation.

Third, if we avail ourselves of power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome
sin: So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16, NIV)

We ask God to fill us with his Holy Spirit and to take control of how we think, feel, and act. We must remember
that we cannot talk the talk if we do not walk the walk. Sin will destroy our effectiveness to be a witness for
the Lord.

Fourth, it is important to bring our thought life into captive obedience to Christ: We demolish arguments and
every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it
obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV)

Whoever controls our mind, controls us. God gives us the power to reject thoughts not in conformance with
his will.

Fifth, to the extent possible, remove yourself from the source of the temptation. Terminate any wrong
relationship. Focus your mind on the good; practice SOAK, SOW, and FLOW; and continue to do the next thing
God wants you to do. In some situations, professional help should be sought.

Remember, we are the temple of God, and Christ is the one who is now living his life in us: I have been
crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20, NIV)

Am I asking God to fill me with his Holy Spirit, so I can live a life pleasing to him?

The Kings Service

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
(Matthew 7:8, NIV)

T here is nothing like being in the Kings service. Then we realize what we are designed for and the particular
works he wants us to do. We experience a fulfilling and abundant life when we are in the center of Gods will.
Our lives will truly echo into eternity as we experience the favor and blessing of God when we are in harmony
with his will.

How do we know this for sure? For we are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10, NIV)

This verse tells how we are Gods handiwork, special vessels made for the purpose of being productive.

He wants us to be engaged in the good works he has prepared for us. When we are spiritually born into his
family, we become a new creation with renewed purposes and works to do for his kingdom.

How do we find these works he wants us to do? We want to ask, seek, and knock, so he will reveal his will to us
by opening doors in the direction he wants us to go.

Look at this truth: However, as it is written: What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceivedthe
things God has prepared for those who love himthese are the things
God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even
the deep things of God. For who knows a persons thoughts except their
own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of
God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of
the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand
what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:912, NIV)

According to these verses, God has prepared things for those who love
him, and his Spirit freely reveals these things to us. This is why we must worship God in Spirit and truth, so he
can reveal his will to us.

As we understand more about the imperishable values that matter to God and align them with the gifts of time,
talent, and treasure he gives to us, then we find what he specifically wants us to do to help advance his
kingdom.

God will reveal more to us if he knows we will be doers of anything he reveals to us.

In KingdomNomics we want to be sure to practice, Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do what it says. (James 1:22, NIV)

If we are doers of the Word of God, God knows he can depend on us to accomplish the tasks he reveals to us.

We want God to be able to say of us what he said about David: After removing Saul, he made David their king.
God testified concerning him: I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I
want him to do. (Acts 13:22, NIV)

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 6:11, NIV)

C hrist can live and continue his ministry through us while we are still in this world. These two verses
encapsulate these secrets of the kingdom to us. If we grasp these truths, in faith, our lives will be in for
radical change. We can become overcomers, no longer helpless victims enslaved to sin.

We must be crucified with Christ, counting ourselves dead to sin. Yes, sin lurks inside of us, always trying to
reassert itself. But the good news is we no longer have to surrender to its control. The following verses verify
this spiritual truth:

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligationbut it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
(Romans 8:12, NIV)
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away
with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. (Romans 6:6, NIV)
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the
body, you will live. (Romans 8:13, NIV)
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16, NIV)

Can we accept this truth in faith, believing it is true? We


must do so if we are to experience the new life in Christ. As
far as Paul was concerned, the old Paul was dead. He no
longer lived, but Christ lived in him by faith! We are to have
the same belief and faith.

These are verses for us to meditate on and memorize.
Practice saying the following to yourself:

1. I am crucified with Christ. The old________ (your


name) is dead.
2. Christ lives in me! He has taken up residence in my
heart, and He is now in control.
3. The life I live now in my body is by faith in Christ.

will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he
enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. (Habakkuk 3:1719,
NIV)

rom a circumstantial standpoint, the prophet Habakkuk lived in a terrible time. The land was soon to be
invaded and, because of the disobedience of the people to God over time, prosperity was no more. Even though
the circumstances were bad, Habakkuk gives us the formula for
not only surviving but also thriving in such a period.

The above passage shows us that Habakkuk did not allow
circumstances to steal his joy. It is an example for us that our
joy and happiness have to be based on more than just having
good experiences.

Habakkuk was determined to rejoice in the Lord of his salvation
and to be joyful in all of the spiritual blessings of the Lord. God
had become his strength, and he realized everything was
sourced in God. Because of that, God made his feet like those of
a deer enabling him to walk on the hills or heights of the land
overcoming fear and problems.

The Psalmist also expresses the same principle: The Lord is my

Paul expresses the same in several passages:
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
(Philippians 4:11, ESV)
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13, ESV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:67, NIV)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8, NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with
hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13, NIV)

Our joy is sourced in the Holy Spirit, not in our circumstances. We may endure many difficult circumstances;
people may disappoint us in many ways. However, if our joy is in the Lord, the sting of adversity can be
greatly mitigated.

2. Are they in the ever-changing fragile circumstance of life, or are they ingrained in the Lord Jesus Christ?

The captain went to him and said, How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of
us so that we will not perish. (Jonah 1:6, NIV)

H ow many Christians are living like this world is our final resting place, forgetting we are on mission with a
spiritual battle raging all around us? The storms and turmoil we daily witness are the outward
manifestations of what is going on behind the scenes in the spiritual world that we cannot see.

Jonah had fallen asleep in the bowels of the ship while those above were in fear of their lives in the midst of a
great storm. Jonah was on a detour of his own by disobeying the instructions from God to go to Nineveh to
preach repentance. Basically, he was following his own agenda and not Gods. He ultimately came to realize,
Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. (Jonah 2:8, NIV84)

Jesus asked the same question of his disciples, Why are you sleeping? he asked them. Get up and pray so that
you will not fall into temptation. (Luke 22:46, NIV)

We are on mission and must stay the course. For all of us, eternity is fast approaching. Gods Word counsels us,
And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber,
because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.
So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor o
flight. (Romans 13:1112, NIV)

It also encourages us to be patient and stand firm, because the
Lords coming is near. Dont grumble against one another, brothers
and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the
door!(James 5:89, NIV)

The Lord, himself, counsels us to watch as the return of Christ can
come at any time: Therefore keep watch because you do not know
when the owner of the house will come backwhether in the
evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he
comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I
say to everyone: Watch! (Mark 13:3537, NIV)

This is why it is said: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and
Christ will shine on you. (Ephesians 5:14, NIV)

Lord in our everyday life. If we daily present ourselves to him as a living sacrifice, he can continue living his

I once heard a preacher say, Whatever you have will blow off on the way up or burn up on the way down.
There is truth in that statement. When you die and go to heaven, the cares and things of this world will have
no impact whatsoever. That should make a big impact on us!


The Psalmist realized this when he wrote, Whom have I in
heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my
heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:2526, NIV)

Our inheritance is Jesus Christ. Someday we will be just like
him. As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face;
when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your
likeness. (Psalm 17:15, NIV)

Not only will we be satisfied, but we also will be ecstatic!
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be
has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ
appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1
John 3:2, NIV)

If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith
potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of
us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us, in whom
are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.(Colossians 2:3, ESV)

In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God. These
things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. (1
Corinthians 2:10, ESV)

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the
unsearchable riches of Christ. (Ephesians 3:8, ESV)

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you,
brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you
as the first-fruits to be saved, through sanctification
by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called
you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the
glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(2 Thessalonians 2:1314, ESV)

Only God could have created such a wonderful plan
of salvation for the helpless human race captured in
the grip of sin. Our salvation is a work of God who
has saved us through the sanctification of the Holy
Spirit. The purpose of believing this truth is that we

of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus

Christ. He is truly our wisdom, as well as our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. It is because of him that
you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from Godthat is, our righteousness, holiness and

As we grow in our relationship with him, may the Spirit of God choose to reveal more of himself to us, so we
will know what he wants us to do. May he help us develop the right perspective on all that is happening in our

True Faith in Christ

Abraham never wavered in believing Gods promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory
to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. (Romans 4:2021, NLT)

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists
and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.(Hebrews 11:6, NLT)

A

braham was a man who had true faith in God. True faith includes belief, conviction, dependence in the right
object or person, and follow through with action consistent with the conviction.

James said, In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
(James 2:17, NIV)

Intellectual belief alone is not true faith. Faith in Christ and in what he has done on the cross includes
conviction and dependence in him alone, which ultimately produces works through the believer.

Jesus said, Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to
the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it
produces many seeds. (John 12:24, NIV)

As the crucified life begins to work in the heart of the believer,
the life of Christ begins to take control, enabling the believer to
live for the will of God rather than his own will. The self-life
dies, and the Christ life begins to flourish in the heart of the
believer.

Regarding the Word of God, Jeremiah said: But if I say, I will not
mention his word or speak anymore in his name, his word is in
my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of
holding it in; indeed, I cannot.(Jeremiah 20:9, NIV)

proclaim it. Jesus Christ wants us to be vessels for the
continuance of his ministry in this world. He wants to live his life through us as Christians.

The works of the Spirit in the life of the believer are a natural outcome of Christ living in the heart of the
believer. The Spirit will reveal and produce the works that God has already planned for the believer to do as he
submits himself to the will of God. The works are a natural outgrowth of faith placed in the person of Jesus
Christ.

What will a seed of corn or wheat produce if it is planted in the right kind of soil? Look at the application we
find from the words of Jesus, All by itself the soil produces grainfirst the stalk, then the head, then the full
kernel in the head. (Mark 4:28, NIV)

Faith placed in the person of Jesus Christ will produce works, just as the seed of corn planted in the ground

true faith placed in Christ, not self, will produce works.

Follow the Footsteps

So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. Put this money to work, he said, until I come back.
(Luke 19:13, NIV)

S ome say we should redeem time, because time is short. The secular world often says that time is money, so
be busy making money with the time you have. In the above passage the servants are told to put the
masters money to work until he returns. The master was saying he would return and would want a report or
an accounting of what was done with his money.

Jesus Christ said a lot about work when he was in this world. He was in the world for a purpose:

My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who


sent me and to finish his work.
(John 4:34, NIV)
For I have come down from heaven not to do my
will but to do the will of him who sent me. (John
6:38, NIV)
And He said to them, Why did you seek Me? Did
you not know that I must be about My Fathers
business.
(Luke 2:49, NKJV)
I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it
is day; the night is coming when no one can

We are to follow in the steps of the Master whose purpose was to do the will of the Father. He was on a

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and

We must ask ourselves, Are we living for the will of God, or are we just living a haphazard life investing in the
perishable pursuits of this temporary world?

Jesus has said, Tell me what you think about this: A man had two sons. He went to the first son and said, Son, go
and work today in my vineyard. (Matthew 21:28, NCV)

Each day we are to go to work in his vineyard. Daily, we need to present ourselves as a living sacrifice to God
to be serving the purposes for which he has created us. That will be different for each person, since He
fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works.(Psalm 33:15, NKJV)

We want to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and set our minds and hearts on the things

We need to invest our time, talents, and treasures in the imperishable values of the kingdom instead of the
perishable things of this temporary world. This happens as we discover how we have been uniquely created in
Christ Jesus to do special works he prepared for us to do. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10, NKJV)

1. Has God revealed to me the works he wants me to do?


2. Am I making it a practice to live for his will rather than my own?

Feed Your Soul
Q
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but
only God who gives the growth. (Luke 19:13, ESV)

Proper growth only comes from God. As we grow in Christ, our focus becomes sharper with a greater
comprehension of what Christ wants us to do in this world. We also want to make sure that any growth we
experience is growth sourced in God.

The proper place to start the growth process is stated by Peter, As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the
word, that you may grow thereby. (1 Peter 2:2, NKJV)

Without proper nourishment, we cannot grow. In KingdomNomics we strongly emphasize the importance of
absorbing the Word of God to make it personally operative in our lives for the purpose of empowering and
transforming us into cultivating the desire to become strategic kingdom investors.

Furthermore, through the Word we discover our design,
purpose, and work God has for us in the body of Christ. We
want to be an effective and productive part of the body of
Christ to help it grow.

Paul emphasizes the importance of us finding our place,
from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every
joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working
properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in
love. (Ephesians 4:16, ESV)

Only by proper connection to the head of the body of Christ
can we expect to grow properly. Only God can make the body grow as long as it stays connected to the head.
Some lost connection and stagnated: They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body,
supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. (Colossians 2:19, NIV)

We need to remember that it is the Lord who does the works inside of us. Lord, You will establish peace for us,
for You have also done all our works in us. (Isaiah 26:12, NKJV)

Growth comes from him and his Word. Therefore He says: Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And
Christ will give you light. (Ephesians 5:14, NKJV)

Only then do we find life and favor: For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the
Lord. (Proverbs 8:35, NKJV) How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put
their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And
You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see
light. (Psalm 36:79, NKJV)

1. Am I growing in Christ?
2. Am I feeding my soul on his Word regularly?

Be on the Lookout

He who testifies to these things says, Surely I am coming quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!(Revelation

s the Creator, God is always on the move. The landscape of circumstances of the world are constantly
changing. Opportunities come and go.

Scripture emphasizes the brevity of life many times: And do


this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of
sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first
believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let
us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of
light.(Romans 13:1112, NKJV)

This is an exhortation we had better listen to in order to be
prepared!

We are to be on high alert: Watch therefore, for you know
neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is
coming. (Matthew 25:13, NKJV)

Without question, Jesus Christ is returning to this world. This
coming event can happen at any time. Do you have a sense of expectancy?

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will
transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is
able even to subdue all things to Himself. (Philippians 3:2021, NKJV)

What a joy it will be to get that glorified bod!

In the meantime, we are to do business until he comes. The words of the Psalmist are appropriate, I wait for
the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the
morning Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. (Psalm 130:56, NKJV)

When military personnel are on night watch, they long for the morning to come. We long for the Lord Jesus to

Remember the difference of the perishing and the imperishable and how we should spend our time.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you
know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is nearat the doors!
Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and

Heaven and earth are going to pass away; however, Gods Word will never pass away. Furthermore, every soul

S cripture warns us to be alert and watchful. We live in a spiritual war zone and battle a strong adversary.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to
devour. (1 Peter 5:8, ESV)

The chief CONSUMERLATOR is out to steal, destroy, and kill our efforts to convert the perishable into the
imperishable values of heaven.

The Lord can return at any moment. He tells us to be
watchful and waiting. We need to heed these words from
Ephesians:

for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it
says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ
will shine on you. (Ephesians 5:14, ESV)

Christ needs to shine on our efforts if we are to
experience his blessing. We also want to avoid losing
what we have gained in our work for the Lord:

We want to be sober-minded so we can see clearly. We also want to be sensitive to the leadings of the Lord. He

The Triple Three Approach
to Battling Lifes Challenges

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.
(Micah 7:8, ESV)

H

ow comforting these words are when we sit in the darkness of circumstances that threaten to overpower
us.

Jesus Christ, the light of the world, shows us the way to life and immortality. The Psalmist also discovered
where to look when difficulty came:

Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. (Psalm 112:4,
NLT)

We have what I call the TRIPLE THREE APPROACH, outlined in 2 Thessalonians, the third chapter.
First, he promises to strengthen and protect us:

But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT)

Second, he directs us to focus on Christ, not on the


problem. Focusing on the problem drains life from us,
whereas Christ gives us power and peace:

May the Lord direct your hearts into Gods love and
Christs perseverance.
(2 Thessalonians 3:5, NIV)

It takes discipline to focus our mind properly in the
midst of the storm. Developing this discipline is a
process, and we must exercise the perseverance of
Christ, allowing him to overcome our anxieties and

Third, he assures us that only Christ can give us the peace we seek.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (2
Thessalonians 3:16, NIV)

Understanding Gods Will

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lords will is. (Ephesians 5:17, NIV)

W e need to know what the will of God is in order to make sure were living in harmony with his plan. We
know the time is short. The stakes are high, with eternity staring us in the face. Are we working to convert
the perishable elements of our lives into the imperishable values of the kingdom of God?

God needs us to be clean vessels so he can live and work through us:

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality.
(1 Thessalonians 4:3, ESV)
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he
will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the
master of the house, ready for every good work. (2 Timothy 2:21,
ESV)

Next, we need to cultivate our relationship with him:

Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will
come to you. (Job 22:21, NKJV)

The blessing of God follows obedience to him and his will. One only
has to read the Old Testament accounts to realize the truth of this
statement. When Israel obeyed God, they had prosperity and peace.
When they disobeyed, they had trouble.

Proverbs states this is age-old truth:

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:34, NKJV)

Individually, we live under Gods grace. Sin is not supposed to have dominion over us:

Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. (Romans 6:14, NKJV)
So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
(Romans 6:11, NLT)

God has given the believer the power to deal with sin:

For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you
will live. (Romans 8:13, ESV)
When faced with temptation, we should ask the Spirit to put to death the tendency to cave in to the
temptation. Then we must quickly do the next thing God wants us to do.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I taking the steps God wants me to take to acquaint myself with him, and to make sure I am a cleansed vessel
he can use?

For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:11, ESV)

O h! How I love the Word of God! Yes, it is full of warnings,


particularly for those who pay no attention to him. This is
also true of believers who decide to take a holiday from
living for Christ, who died for them. In fact, the warnings are
stark and have eternal consequences.

However, for believers who are aggressive in wanting to grow,
Gods promises are an irresistible magnet, creating an ever-
increasing desire to know him more. God motivates us
incentives for obeying him. He has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV)

Can it get any better than the promise of having a richly
provided entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord Jesus
Christ? I dont think so!

Based on the authority of Gods Word, Peter gives believers
the steps to ensure we can have such an entrance: make
every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control,
and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and
brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being
ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:58, ESV)

These are steps the sealed, saved Christian should be taking on a daily basis. For whoever lacks these qualities
is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers,
be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
(2 Peter 1:910, ESV)

These verses are followed by the promise of having a richly provided entrance into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord Jesus Christ. WOW!

Am I giving serious thought about having a richly provided entrance for myself into the eternal kingdom of my

Are You a Pen Filled With Ink?

My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready
scribe. (Psalm 45:1, ESV)

W e use this key verse in KingdomNomics to help us with the concepts of SOAK, SOW, and FLOW. As we soak
our heart in the Word of God and recite our verses to the King, the Spirit causes our heart to overflow with
spiritual nourishment. This discipline strengthens our inner person so Christ can prompt us to help continue
his ministry in this world.

Lets focus on the word pen mentioned in the verse. You and I are like pens. A pen is an instrument used to
communicate a message to others. Without ink, the pen is useless.

The Spirit can be like the ink needed for a pen to function. In order for us to be pens or instruments God can
use to continue writing his story to this generation, we need to be filled with the ink of the Holy Spirit. (We
do this through SOAK, SOW, and FLOW principle explained in our books, which can be downloaded FREE

Bottom line: We must confess our sin and ask the Holy Spirit
to fill and control us. If we are to be fruitful in our knowledge
of Jesus Christ that is, to yield active CONVERTERLATORS
we need the filling of the Spirit.

A pen without ink is left on the desk. Only when it is filled with
ink can it then be picked up by the writer to write ones
message to the world. My personal goal is to be a pen filled
with the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
(2 Corinthians 13:14, ESV)

Just think what powerful instruments we could be if the grace
of Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit
dominated our lives.

Are you Kingdom Employed?

Now Joshua was old and advanced in years, and the LORD said to him, You are old and advanced in years, and
there remains yet very much land to possess. (Joshua 13:1, ESV)

T he words still apply today: and there remains yet very much land to possess.

Many people have not had the opportunity to respond to Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of each
generation to use the means at our disposal to reach others for Christ. We have a lot of work to do.

We also have work to do related to our inner person. We need to be
rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, strengthened and filled
with the Holy Spirit as we navigate through life.

This is one of the reasons Paul must have said, Not that I have
already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I
press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
(Philippians 3:12, NIV) To know Christ and to be an effective
witness for him is a most worthy objective.

One of the benefits of pressing on to grow in our faith is explained
in this passage:

But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have
entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for
those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the
deep things of God.
(1 Corinthians 2:910, NKJV)

God prepares things for the person who loves God. He can reveal them through his Spirit and his Word as we
SOAK, SOW, AND FLOW with them. By obeying his commandments we show we love him. Obedience places us
in a position to be blessed by God.

All power belongs to God; he can open doors of opportunity if they are needed. He is the God who sees, and he
is the God who provides. These facts alone make us want to bring all aspects of our lives into conformance
with his will.

Have I spotted the inner and outer territories in my life that God wants me to possess in his name?

Thriving in a World of Spiritual Drought

The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be
like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
(Isaiah 58:11, NKJV)

A s we look at our world, we find ourselves in a spiritual desert. However, God has made provision for his
people as they cultivate their relationship with him. This verse gives us hope as we make our way through
the world.

First, we have Gods promise of guiding us continually. The
Psalmist said, My eyes are ever toward the LORD, For He shall
pluck my feet out of the net. (Psalm 25:15, NKJV)

The Lord is TRUE NORTH on the compass of our life. If we
fix our eyes on him, he will direct our steps and council us.

How does he satisfy our soul in drought? He does it through
his Word. Scripture constantly reminds us of the necessity
of our feeding our soul on the Word of God:

So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with
manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know,
that He might make you know that man shall not live by
bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from
the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:3, NKJV)

There were periods in Davids life when he had to strengthen himself in the Lord. This can be done through
reflecting on Gods Word and reminding ourselves of his promises and provisions in the past. We also know
his presence nourishes us as we look to him.

If we practice strengthening ourselves in the Word, we will be like a watered garden, an oasis in the middle of
the desert. His Spirit can flow through us, making us like a stream whose waters do not fail.

In practicing KingdomNomics and developing into a yield active CONVERTERLATOR, the Word of God is
absolutely the central ingredient for thriving.

Open Our Eyes!

Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. (Psalm 119:18, NIV)

S cripture has a lot to say about eyes. Where we focus our eyes is important; they can lead us astray or they
can keep our attention of the goals God has places in front of us. We are counseled to look neither to the
right or the left. Like the runner in the race, we are to keep our eyes focused on the goal.

As we focus our eyes on the Word of God, we will get to know God better:

Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him.
(Luke 24:31, NIV)

Gods Word will communicate with us, and we will
recognize the truth he wants us to experience. We will grow
to know Christ as he reveals himself to us.

The first step of experiencing all that Christ has for is
coming to know him. Only then do we come to the point,
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the
Scriptures. (Luke 24:45, NIV)

The concepts in the Word of God are spiritually discerned.
We understand as the Spirit enlightens our mind and gives
us understanding to properly apply the Word of God to our
life.

As we progress in knowing Christ, and the Spirit enlightens
our mind so we can understand the Scripture from a
practical standpoint, we position ourselves for the next step. We are then ready to be empowered by Gods
Spirit. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed
with power from on high. (Luke 24:49, ESV)

We become empowered with the Spirit of God when we ask in faith to be filled with him.

To know Christ, it is important to continually be in the Scripture to comprehend what Scripture has to say
and to then be empowered by the Holy Spirit.

God Performs His Word Through Us

For thus says the LORD: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word
toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD,
thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:1011, NKJV)

G od told the people in captivity that he would visit them and perform his good word toward them, giving
them both a future and hope. Even though this passage was written to the people of that time in captivity,
the principles still apply today.

Every time we experience the fulfillment of a promise God makes to us, we are experiencing his visitation and
the performance of his good Word. For example, we live by his Spirit, and by his Spirit he fills us so we can put
to death the misdeeds of the body. He performs his Word through us.

We need to have a greater expectation for the working of God in our lives. We need to realize, For as the
heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
(Isaiah 55:9, NKJV)

Failing to realize the truth of this passage limits God work in
our lives. We must expect to see God working in ways that far
exceed anything we can imagine.

It seems wise to develop this attitude by following these steps:

But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my
causeWho does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous
things without number. (Job 5:89, NKJV)

Seeking God is the first priority in our everyday living.

Second, we want to commit our cause to God. After all, He is the one who does the great, unsearchable, and
marvelous things without number. There is no better way to start each day than with this attitude and
commitment.

Then maybe, we can say with the Psalmist, Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have
done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them,
they are more than can be numbered. (Psalm 40:5, NKJV)

Today, ask yourself:

Do I expect and anticipate God to do great things in my life? Or do I limit God working in my life because my view
of him is too small?

what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.
(Haggai 2:45, NIV)

O pportunity is one of the greatest blessings that can be given to a person. Whenever we have opportunity to
do something that advances the kingdom of God, we want to take advantage of it. Sometimes we have only
one opportunity to do something. We never know if the same opportunity will come by again.

The Lord tells us to be strong and to work, for he is with us in our endeavors. His Spirit gives us the capacity,
the talent, and the treasure, if needed, to accomplish his
purposes.

We do not want to miss out on opportunities he offers
opportunities such as bringing glory to his name,
blessing in this world, reward in eternity, and a life that
will echo into eternity. Times may be difficult now, but
blessing awaits believers who harmonize our lives with
the will of God.

A major stimulant motivates us to work:

In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will
not delay. (Hebrews 10:37, NIV)

The return of Jesus Christ to take his people to himself
may happen at any time. Also, we are aware our time
bubble can pop, landing us in the eternal paradigm at
any moment.

Working for the Lord is one of the main avenues for us to access the bread of life. As believers, we are drawn
to the Lord:

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:2, NIV)

They said to him, Sir, give us this bread always Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me
shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (John 6:3435, ESV)

Working for the Lord brings us into his presence. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see
light. (Psalm 36:9, ESV)

Today, ask yourself:

Am I taking advantage of the opportunities God is giving me to help advance his kingdom? How does knowing
that Jesuss return is imminent motivate me?

Converterlators are Creators
Q
Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of
them. (Isaiah 42:9, ESV)

G od is in the creation business. When you become a CONVERTERLATOR, you are a new instrument of God.
God uses you to convert time, talent, and treasure into the imperishable values of the kingdom. He also
works through you to bring about the new in others lives.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new
has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)

Our new worldview empowers us to live for the
one who died for us.

The CONVERTERLATOR is on the lookout.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs
forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in
the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah
43:19, ESV)

We live in anticipation of seeing the hand of God
at work in us and in our circumstances. He is always in the process of changing us, and doing new things that
can spring forth at any time.

As we cultivate our relationship with him, we learn secrets of the kingdom from the Spirit:

You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things,
hidden things that you have not known. (Isaiah 48:6, ESV)

Our job is to declare and share what he reveals to us so others can enjoy the benefits of being members of the
kingdom.

Finally, And he who was seated on the throne said, Behold, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this
down, for these words are trustworthy and true. (Revelation 21:5, ESV)

For the believer, this newness begins with the new birth a knowledge that we are heading into the new
world with new values, new relationships, and a new environment where we will be able to bask in the light of
his ever-present presence.

Am I enjoying the new that God brings into my life through my living relationship with Jesus Christ?

Our Source of Help

I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad
and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure. (Psalm 16:89, NIV)

he Psalmist made it his life habit to set the Lord before him. This is an important lesson for us from an
application standpoint. When we face problems, it is easy to focus on the problem.

Focusing on the problem alone can sap our energy and lead us down the path to depression. Problems can be
the tools of the CONSUMERLATOR if we are not careful how we treat them.

By focusing on the Lord, we can CONVERTERLATE the problem,
using it to strengthen us in our relationship with the Lord. By
focusing on the Lord we make the great discovery:

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.
(Psalm 36:9, ESV)

The Lord is the source of our life. Strength, joy, and help flow
from the Lord. If we focus on the problem, it can consume our
life. When we look to the Lord, we learn that everything is
sourced in him, and that he is the source of our sufficiency to live
the victorious life in Christ.

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal
procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the
knowledge of him everywhere. (2 Corinthians 2:14, ESV)

Now we can be consistent in our daily walk steadfast and immovable.

Am I setting the Lord before me daily, so I can confidently face the issues in my life?

Our Designer Has the Power!

his passage Scripture helps us become familiar with the Word of God. We have been created for Jesus Christ.
I want to know what he created me for, and what his purpose is for me.

Only through the Word of God can we find the answers to these questions. He is the grand designer;
everything has been created for his purposes.

Faith and power are a big part of this equation:

So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but
in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5, ESV)

The power involved in creating everything, both visible and
invisible, is incompre-hensible. The powers human agencies
exert are nothing compared to the power God. As we begin
to comprehend the scope of this truth, we can see why Paul
said, Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything
as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God. (2
Corinthians 3:5, ESV)

Apart from Christ, we can do nothing. We do not have the
power.

Paul shows us the way when he said, Yes, we had the
sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in
ourselves but in God who raises the dead. (2 Corinthians 1:9, NKJV) This is what you call power. Christ raises
the dead. Therefore, it makes sense to trust in the one who has ultimate power, and not to trust in ourselves,
the weak vessels that we are.

Today, ask yourself:

Am I trusting in my own power or am I consciously trusting in Christ, the source of ultimate power, to live in and
through me?

The Last Hour!
Q
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists
have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. (1 John 2:18, NKJV)

OW! The last hour, from Gods perspective, is here! What does this say to you and me as
CONVERTERLATORS?

It tells me we must be busy doing the Kings business. We need to stay on mission, doing the works God has
prepared for us. Many of our fellow believers have been swept aside by mission drift.

According to this last hour passage, our loaf of time is getting short. We need to counter the false messages of
the antichrists who cause many not to find the way, the truth, and the life revealed to us by Jesus Christ.

It is critical we listen and obey what Peter said:
Because of that experience, we have even greater
confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets.
You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for
their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place
until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in
your hearts. (2 Peter 1:19, NLT)

Life and immortality are just around the corner. Soon
the mortal will be swallowed up by the immortal. In
the meantime we need to give the people of our
generation the opportunity to respond to the
wonderful love of God by sharing:

This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his one
and only Son into the world so that we could have life through him. This is what real love is: It is not our love for
God; it is Gods love for us. He sent his Son to die in our place to take away our sins. (1 John 4:910, NCV)

However, to do this effectively, we must realize that The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be
here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. (Romans 13:12,
NLT)

Today, ask yourself:

Have I found a way to be involved in the Great Commission? Do I realize the time is short to do whatever I am
going to do for the Lord?

New Life!
Q
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2
Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

T

his is what relationship is all about when we trust Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Everything
becomes new, and we are given a new lease on life.

We discover that Christ himself is our inheritance, our treasure. As we SOAK and SOW in his living and
powerful Word, and then FLOW with the Spirit, we are transformed.

When we are down, he restores our soul and he leads us in the way we should go. He becomes the strength of
our heart. With increasing confidence we develop a strong sense that The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. (Psalm 138:8, ESV)

We experience the reality of this when we cast our
burdens on the Lord. We discover this amazing truth:

He will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be
moved. (Psalm 55:22, ESV)

It is wonderful to discover another great secret of the
kingdom:

Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as
coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.
(2 Corinthians 3:5, ESV)

Our sufficiency comes from God and not from ourselves,
for we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the
surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
(2 Corinthians 4:7, ESV)

We begin to see the reality of the new life sourced in the person of Jesus Christ:

And he who was seated on the throne said, Behold, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this down,
for these words are trustworthy and true. (Revelation 21:5, ESV)

Today, ask yourself:

In what ways am I developing a living relationship with Jesus Christ?

He is Our Defense
Q
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Proverbs 30:5, ESV)

W e are influenced by both the world we see and the unseen spiritual world:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic
powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the
whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:12
13, ESV)

Many times what we see in this world is the result of spiritual
battles being fought in the unseen world. The Psalmist prayed,
My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from
Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I
shall not be moved. (Psalm 62:56, NKJV)

Scripture makes it clear that all power belongs to God:

God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power
belongs to God. (Psalm 62:11, NKJV)

Here, again, relationship is extremely important. He is a shield
to those who trust in him; he is our defense, and our salvation.

the lords return

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1
Thessalonians 4:1617, NKJV)

Y es, the Lord is going to return to this world. Count on it. Just as there were many prophecies in the Old
Testament regarding the first coming of Jesus Christ, there are many passages like the one above stating
how Jesus Christ is going to return to this world to set up his Kingdom.

We are told to watch, and to be prepared for this event. This
world is not our home. In fact, we become more uncomfortable
in it as we see more of the previews of coming attractions
recorded in the book of Revelation:

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait
for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly
body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to
the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to
Himself. (Philippians 3:2021, NKJV)

You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware
lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with
the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now
and forever. Amen.
(2 Peter 3:1718, NKJV)

Our best protection is to feed ourselves continually on the Word of God and cultivate our relationship with
Jesus Christ through obeying his Word.

We need to remember his goal for us is to be ready when he returns:

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be
preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. (1
Thessalonians 5:2324, NKJV)

Christ will do the sanctifying in us as we submit to his Lordship.

How does my anticipation of the Lords return impact my daily behavior?
