MY ASSIGNENT AND CONTRIBUTION TO
THE ORGANIZATION
On the first week of my office I met and introduced with the other officials of Mak & Co. My

Internship started from 3rd January 2016. I went to Mak & Co Mirpur DOHS office to meet with

my manager Mr. Atiq. On that day he gave me some guideline how I work in different companies

and how I deal with new people and new environment. Then he told me about three types of Audit.

These are Statutory Audit, Internal Audit and Performance audit. Statutory Audit is a legally

required review of the accuracy of a company's or governments financial records. The purpose of

a statutory audit is the same as the purpose of any other audit - to determine whether an

organization is providing a fair and accurate 2 representation of its financial position by examining

information such as bank balances, bookkeeping records and financial transactions. Internal Audit

is the examination, monitoring and analysis of activities related to a company's operation,

including its business structure, employee behavior and information systems. An internal audit is

designed to review what a company is doing in order to identify potential threats to the

organization's health and profitability, and to make suggestions for mitigating the risk associated

with those threats in order to minimize costs.

Performance audit refers to an independent examination of a program, function, operation or the

management systems and procedures of a governmental or non-profit entity to assess whether the

entity is achieving economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the employment of available

resources.

From the 4th January I went to Uttara in one Dying factory. The name of the factory was A-SIX

Limited. There is 1 chairman and 5 directors. The main problem of this factory was that they

8|Page
started their business from 2007 but they maintained their cashbook, ledger and other staffs

manually that means handwritten.

In second week that means from 10th January which was Sunday again, I shifted to another

company which name Everjobs Bangladesh Limited and from Mak & Co. they informed me that

you did your three month internship there. On the first day at Everjobs I was quiet nervous. Then

I met with country manager Mr. Sabirul Isalm. Everyone knows him because he is a young

entrepreneur and run his own campaign which called Inspire 1 Million. So on the first day I met

with Mr. Soukat who was the only audit officer and maintained all the accounts and finance task

of Everjobs. Everjobs didnt have any fixed accountant or finance person who maintained

companies overall accounts. Thats why they outsource that means they hired CA firm to maintain

their accounts and finance stuffs.

In our country they just start their operation at the middle of 2015. This office is not so big. They

run their operation in just 2 rooms. There is one meeting room, one kitchen and several bathrooms.

So whole office is little bit noisy. First 2 days I just observed how Mr. Soukat manages everyday

transaction and how he gave entry in excel file and software. Everjobs maintain Xero Accounting

Software. It is control from Germany. To get an access I send an email to the admin of the software

but until now they didnt response. So after 2 days soukat left the company because he had an

ACCA exam and gave all responsibility to maintain the accounts and finance section and I am the

only one person who maintains Everjobs accounts and finance section for next 3 months thats

why I am little bit nervous.

9|Page
On Third week, I learned many things like how to prepare sales invoice, contract paper, money

receipt, and voucher, how to calculate vat and how to write chalan. Now I am used to with it and

was quiet easy for me. To submit the FDI report first I went to Gulshan branch but they refuge it

because in the paper it was mentioned the principle branch. So I went to the Banani branch to

submit the report. So the key learning was you can submit the paper as the branch which is

mentioned in the paper or at the branch you have an account.

On fourth week, I learned how to use the Xero Accounting Software. It had very good reliability

and availability. It had accessible regardless of browser, operating or device. It was easy to share

data and no limitation on users and also had a large ecosystem of add on that means e-

commerceand payment process. In this software there were two types of edition- global code and

country edition. It also had a good features to create- Accruals Accounting, Good control over the

charts of accounts, Journals entries. For small business owners it helped to create profit & loss and

balance sheet.

In Fifth week I learned how to properly put every transection into Xero. It was very helpful

specially to make balance sheet and income statement. Used this software anyone can know about

the cash summary, sales tax report, Aged payables, Aged receivables, Business performance,

Business report etc.

In Sixth week I spent fully busy time because this week our companies Managing Director and

Head of marketing visited our office. They stayed with us for one week. This week company also

made a huge amount of sales and as usual I was responsible to prepare sales invoices and contract

paper. Previously our contract paper and sales invoice were made based on excel file which was

quiet difficult for me to prepare. Then I arranged a meeting with Asst. sales manager and country

10 | P a g e
manager to change our invoice and contract format. After more than one hour meeting we set a

format of a new contract and invoice paper which was based on doc. file and it was quiet easy to

input information and to prepare it. Then I sat for meeting with the MD about our financial

information and other staffs. Head of Marketing was Sara Maroon Garcia who was very friendly

and charming. She was Spanish and the MD was from Netherlands who name was Gijs Verjikes.

Both of them were very friendly and helpful. There were very serious about their work. They came

on 18th February which was Thursday at noon, take their lunch and then directly came to office

and stayed with us until 6pm.

I want to add the new thing which I learned last week that means the new format of sales invoice

and contract paper. This new format made my work easy and smooth which helps me to make

many invoices and contract with in short time.

In Seventh week As usual I prepared vouchers, updated the excel file and xero accounting

software. I went to bank to pull out some money and then paid previous vat and tax on rent. I

prepared a February salary sheet, add sales bonus and calculate the total amount. The new which

I learning from Xero Accounting Software was bank reconciliation system. I was still learning the

system. Its used to match the actual amount in bank with the amount in xero software. Also the

new thing was Challan. It was quiet easy. There was a specific format. My colleague prepared it

especially for VDS and TDS payment. I printed every vds and tds three copies. Two copies bank

kept it and one copy they gave back to me and then I put it in separate folders. In this week I also

learned how to prepare Challan, how you save it and how to pay it. Before pay you should put the

bank sill and then mention the amount at the back of the paper and also mention how many money

notes you gave.

11 | P a g e
In Eighth week I spent a busy time because I paid everyone salary. First I calculated their sales

bonus, overtime, weekend bonus and then add gross salary. I paid total 13 employees. It was little

bit tough for me to pay in cash. Before payment I prepared a salary receipt paper where everyone

signed after getting their salary. Then I put every transection into excel file. Into excel I maintained

a cash book and bank book. In the cash book I put every cash transaction that happened daily basis

and in the bank book I put every check transection. Then I put every transection into Xero

Accounting Software like excel file. I need to update everything into xero because it is look after

by global team. The new thing I did last week was bank reconciliation in xero. It was interesting.

The main purpose of bank reconciliation was it helped to recognize money receipt, to identify

unpresented check, helped to identify fraud and errors, helped to recognize bank charges or bank

Interest and to ensure record complete. Also I learned how to reconcile bank account in Xero

Accounting Software. I took help form the manager of Lamadi.com who was good at Xero. I met

with him and sit with him for few hours. He was very helpful and showed me how to do a

reconciliation in Xero. It was easy. First I reconciled all the unreconciled item then there was an

option to reconcile every transaction. So I click the option and every item became reconciled.

In Ninth week I was busy in different task. I went to the Sonali Bank to pay our last month VDS

& TDS. Our country manager was absent last few weeks because he was sick. So he came to office

at Thursday and so many things were remaining to sign. So I took his signature in our check book,

salary account paper and also employee salary paper. Next day I went to Mak & Co. to check all

the return and VDS & TDS. But unfortunately I made a mistake. Every return paper should print

4 copies but I printed 1 copy. So again I printed 3 copies and put company seal and send to Mak

& Co through another person. Next day I also talked with Mr. Masfique about the bank statement

12 | P a g e
and encashment certificate. I also prepared a check to kaymu Bangladesh Limited and Mak & Co.

outstanding bill.

Also I learned how to prepare employee salary account paper. In our company letter head pad first

I wrote an application, then I put everyone name and designation and in another pad I wrote about

spice man name and then collect signature from him.

During Tenth week, it was my last week of my internship period. I spent a very busy day. So I

prepared employees salary account paper and then went to bank to submit it. I deposited some

checks and collect the bank statement. Next day again I went to the bank to collect form C and

others paper and then fill it up and submit it to the bank to cash our foreign remittance. Everjobs

started their marketing promotion so as a part of their marketing promotion they started bus

branding. Thats why again I went to the bank, pull out money and pay for bus branding. Next day

I went to university to submit my employer satisfaction survey report. Because last week was the

end week for me so I calculated every ones salary and pay them. New accountant also joined last

week so I gave him proper direction how to use everything that means about the software, excel

file, voucher, money receipt, folder information, how to print, how to prepare sales invoice &

contract paper, how to prepare agreement paper, chalan, VDS & TDS return. Overall I gave him a

one week training for everything.

As a part of learning and achievement I want to mention one thing that was about to prepare form

C and documents to cash our foreign remittance. Actually there were two papers. I prepared

those two papers, collect our managing directors sign then went to bank to submit it.

LESSON I HAVE LEARNED
The lessons that I have learned while working as an intern in Everjobs Bangladesh Limited will

stay with me for the entire lifetime and these skills that I have managed to get adapted to be

definitely going to prove to be very fruitful and helpful for the prospect of my career.

Technical Skills

During my tenure, I got some technical skills and key activities that are of major importance to

grow a career in the MNC sector. Some of them are highlighted below:

I learned how to use an Accounting Software specially XERO and its importance in data

analysis.

I was trained to use upgraded function in Microsoft Excel.

Input daily feedback using automated software

Basic idea on Summary Feedback software

Basic idea about how management information system works in an organization.

How properly put information in cash book & bank book using excel.

Analytical Skills

Internship at Everjobs Bangladesh Limited has provided me an opportunity to enrich my

analytical skills. Analytical skills include both the ability to use good reasoning in analyzing a

situation and also the ability to solve problems. It also includes seeing the arguments on both sides

of an issue, even if one doesn't agree with them, and being able to analyze the merits of each

argument. Although I did not have any significant job responsibility, nevertheless I was often faced

14 | P a g e
with situations where I needed to think on my own and act accordingly. I adopted the ability to

organize a mass of data and draw proper correlations or infer the lack thereof, and then interpret

these trends in terms that are meaningful to others through the data analysis activities. I had to

remain sound, focus on identifying problems, and evaluate them in order to make decisions.

People Skills

From the very beginning of my undergraduate life I got the opportunity to develop people skills

which were improved during the course of my internship.

Communication skills: My communication skills were furnished as I got the chance to work

on a formal setting with a lot of people dwelling in a corporate culture. I learned how to talk, write

and which words to use with whom. The primary medium of communication at office was English.

Although I had to speak in English during my university life, this time it was a new scope for me

to learn the practical business language in a corporate environment.

Interpersonal skills: Through my interactions with my supervisor and other employees my

interpersonal skills were enhanced. When, I joined in Everjobs Bangladesh Limited they have

always been very friendly and supportive which helped me to build a good understanding with the

whole unit.

Conflict management: During my work I faced one conflicting situation. Our Country

Manager signature changed suddenly thats why I cant pull out money. Company needs some

money for marketing and other staff. In the meantime our CM went to Canada for a program. So

15 | P a g e
from the marketing team they gave me a pressure to do something. I had nothing to do but they

didnt want to believe this. So little bit quarrel happed with one of them. Then after one week when

our CM back we solved the problem. Then after one day he became sick and we need money for

other staffs. So I went to hospital to see him and tried to collect his signature but he was so weak

to sign thats why I cant collect his signature. Through my observations I got to learn that for

effective conflict resolutions, situations should be closely monitored to prevent minor problems

from escalating into major ones. In most cases, minor problems can be resolved by simply meeting

individually with affected parties.

Listening skills: I have always been a good listener and this characteristic has helped me a lot

during my internship. I was able to receive and interpret messages properly since I was very keen

and therefore could execute my tasks perfectly. In most cases I could grasp a new thing very fast

and remember things sharply for which I was well appreciated by my superiors.

Personal development

My first exposure to professional life through internship has benefited me mostly in strengthening

my personal skills. I have developed positive attitudes, strong sense of responsibility, being

innovative, resourceful, key knowledge about the accounting software, open and responsive to

changes. It has created in me an interest in lifelong learning.

Multitasking: When doing one task such as uploading data with full concentration I often had

to deal with several commands from my superiors like photocopying or scanning some necessary

documents or to assist someone with his/her task. There is no chance of saying NO to anything

16 | P a g e
in the corporate world as my supervisor said so I learned to stay updated about all type of official

affairs so that I could help anyone and everyone.

Time management skills: I got the opportunity to enhance my time management skills. I often

had to work under pressure within a given timeframe. Learning time management was quite

effective in knowing how to prioritize activities and to distinguish between the more important

ones from the less important ones.

Professionalism: I had to maintain a strict time schedule of 9:00-6:00 office and sometimes

overtime also, which taught me adjust myself to the corporate world and act in a more professional

manner.

Patience: This is the biggest learning that I have managed to develop gradually while working

at Everjobs Bangladesh Limited because patience is the only attribute that will serve as the key

solution to all problems.

Overall learning from my experience:

Speak up: Many times I would be sitting at my isolated desk with endless questions

about what I was supposed to be doing. Sometimes I walked whole office to refresh

my mind, talked with MD and other employees about different matters etc. I sometimes

moved from my desk the first few weeks, but I would have been much more efficient

and happier if I had gotten up, asked my questions, and got back to work.

17 | P a g e
Remember that the more you do, the more you have to show for the experience when

youre looking for another internship or, gulp, a job.

Work hard: This is an obvious one, but dont waste time. Youre there to work, and

they didnt have to give you this opportunity. Make the most of your time and theirs.

Played Counter Strikes game with coworkers: I played that game during lunch hour. I

mean watch how they interact, how they talk, how they dress, and their repeated habits.

For example, if you notice that everyone is always on time and takes punctuality

seriously, you darn well better be there at 9:00 a.m. sharp, or earlier.

Talk with your coworkers: Coworkers have a lot of experience and they have obviously

made it in that particular field. Ask them how they got this far and what advice they

have for you. You could learn a lot and get some great ideas.

Be thankful: The best thing to do is send a handwritten note thanking them for the

experience and opportunity to work with them. Itll leave them with good thoughts

about you and you can most likely refer to them for a recommendation later.

18 | P a g e
ACADEMIC LEARNING & EXPEROENTIAL
LEARNING
During my undergraduate studies at NSU I got to learn so many things which I seldom considered

as important. But while working simply as an intern I realized how significant those academic

lessons were. I have come across several concepts of Financial Management and seen their

implications in the operation of a company like Everjobs Bangladesh Limited. Some

terminological word I went throng in my daily work life such as ratio, average, incentive, tax,

compensation, insurance, banking, working capital, financial planning process. Courses like

ACT330 (Intermediate Accounting), FIN433 (Financial Markets and Institutions), FIN 340

(Working Capital Management), FIN 464 (Bank Management), FIN 480 (Derivatives), FIN

435 (Financial Investment) were ideally of great help to me.

However, I also felt that some of the things which we learned and spent so much time on during

undergraduate studies were literally of no use. So our courses should be designed in a more

practical manner that would serve the needs of every student during his/her professional career.

19 | P a g e
Critical Analysis of the Organization
Everjobs Bangladesh Limited has not a broad Finance & Accounts work division. First time it was

hard to find exact format in a very short three months interns time where I was assigned for overall

management of the finance & accounts. If a person dont have that amount of analytical ability in

accounting sector about how every costs are inter related it will be hard to find the fault. There are

some other aspects also like Governance, Regulatory, & Risk Strategies, Information & Controls

Assurance, Risk Management Technologies, Business Continuity & flexibility.

INTERACTION WITH SUPERVISOR AND

COWORKER
Some interns discover, much to their surprise, that co-workers resent them because of the special

nature and flexibility built into most internship. After all, my co-workers are allowed to attend

board meetings, as I might be able to do. It is my supervisors responsibility to explain my role to

fellow employees, but I help by being sensitive to this issue and sticking to the role of regular

employee as much as possible. Also, be curious. Co-workers may enjoy having me as an intern

around as new folks to talk to and as people with new, fresh perspectives on the workplace.

Conversation and open exchange is my best route to good relationships with other members of the

staff. I tried to avoid petty internal struggles and do not yield to pressure to take sides when it is

inappropriate, which it usually will be.

20 | P a g e
A positive frame of mind is my best support. I might not be an expert, but I am a capable individual.

I was sure of myself and stay that way. Setbacks and disappointments will come, but, remembering

who I am, I will be in a better position to handle them when they arise. Keeping them in perspective

and not considering them to be a personal condemnation of my abilities because they are not

necessarily related to me or my actions at all. They are simply there and part of the game.

DEALING WITH DEFICULTIES

During the initial stage I was facing few difficulties with my work at Everjobs Bangladesh Limited.

Those were mainly because I was not being able to adapt myself with the transition. I was missing

my university and friends badly. To some extent I was missing the freedom that I used to have. It

felt like I was imprisoned to do something which I was not supposed to do. But gradually I

overcame these negative feelings. I tried to have patience and perseverance. My family played an

important role in this case. My parents tried to make me understand the situations and gave me

shelter when I felt down. Nevertheless, I have maintained professionalism. I did not let my personal

feelings spoil my professional life. Talking about my job, I sometimes felt bored and work load

was huge but never gave up on it. What kept me going were my goals and aspirations of building

my future career in the MNC sector. I knew this internship was a suitable platform for me to

reshape my dreams and make them come true so I focused on my job with utmost sincerity and

full concentration. How other people can with this situation is;

Go for Work: Everyone in a work setting may eventually be asked to do go for work.

Routine jobs play an important role in the effective operation of any organization. As

a member of a team, you will want to chip in whenever necessary even if, for example,
21 | P a g e
stuffing envelopes was not a part of the job description. However, I might not want it

to become my permanent job. I had to consult my supervisor as I felt my work activities

are not challenging me intellectually, emotionally, and in certain skill and experience

areas. Use the Internship Contract made with your supervisor as a way to remind him

or her why I am there.

Additional Responsibilities: At the same time, be careful about requesting additional

tasks and responsibilities. The success of assigned tasks is evidence of my ability and

willingness to complete delegated work.

Personal Time: As an intern, my first priority and commitment must be to my

supervisor and to the organization. If I have extra work to do for your faculty advisor

back on campus, I had to do it on your own time. But there must be a balance between

attending these activities and fulfilling your other duties.

Pressure: Meeting deadlines is my responsibility, but if the pressure to finish

assignments on time begins to overwhelm me, let my supervisor know. The quality of

my work is as important as the time element. The best planning can fall through, so I

was not afraid to say I cant finish on time or that I think the project is too much for me

to handle.

22 | P a g e
PROBLEMS WITH CO-WORKERS
I am not an angel, so sometimes conflicts happened with my co-workers. Here are some conflicts

I faced in my workplace:

Resentment: Also, be curious. Co-workers may enjoy having interns around as new

folks to talk to and as people with new, fresh perspectives on the workplace.

Conversation and open exchange is your best route to good relationships with other

members of the staff. Avoid petty internal struggles and do not yield to pressure to take

sides when it is inappropriate, which it usually will be.

Communication: Our CM signature changed suddenly thats why I cant pull out

money. Company needs some money for marketing and other staff. In the meantime

our CM went to Canada for a program. So from the marketing team they gave me a

pressure to do something. I had nothing to do but they didnt want to believe this. So

little bit quarrel happed with one of them. Then after one week when our CM back we

solved the problem. Then after one day he became sick and we need money for other

staffs. So I went to hospital to see him and tried to collect his signature but he was so

weak to sign thats why I cant collect his signature. I think because of the proper

communication gap this incidents happened.

23 | P a g e
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY
EXPECTATION AND WHAT I HAVE
EXPERIENCED
Perceived Positives

Leaning professional skills increases confidence

Feeling of accomplishment through contribution and helping others

Experience allows students to become more independent

Most of Accounting work rather than Finance work.

Perceived Negatives

My internship was a gratifying and humbling experience, of which I am extremely appreciative.

Entering the placement, I attempted to keep my expectations low; however the experience far

exceeded my expectations. I am now a more self-assured employee and am more able to give my

opinions confidently. I found it very refreshing because I was treated as an equal and I was able to

perform work on all facets of the company. I have become a far better global citizen, interested in

the world and how peoples lives can improve with help.

24 | P a g e
HOW THIS INTERNSHIP HAS
INFLUENCED MY CAREER PLANS
I have always planned to become a Financial Analyst. Being my own boss was my dream job. This

experience was very helpful for me. Now if I want to enter into this sector I can easily do that. My

resume is more appropriate for an average class job, and now I will start my MBA and CFA both

together though still I would like to take risk to become a financial analyst. The knowledge and

experience I have acquired through this internship will allow me to use my skills during my career.

IF I HAVE TO REDO THIS INTERNSHIP,

THINGS I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY
I would like to do my internship in a company where I can include my Finance and accounting

skill.

I would like to learn to vat, tax, vat & tax return, income tax calculation and documentation

more attractively.

The knowledge of this intern does not seem sufficient for me. If I got the chance I would like

to gain more knowledge about Company vat, tax and return calculation.

Communication skill is a major part of any business as a large portion of success depends upon

how the clients are communicating with us. In the very beginning I did not have the opportunity

to contact with them directly. I would have asked for it if I was given another chance from the

very beginning.
