Notebook #1
Topic: Age discrimination

Notebook #1

Notebook prompt: Collect several images that interest you, related in some way to your issue
(the relevance can be tangential, as long as you feel it). Then write something that connects the
images, one to another. You can think of your connections as a story (one thing connected to the
next), or as a web (everything cross-connected), or as a square, with two sets of opposites, or as a
circle (ideas leading back to the place you started).

This chart shows up clearly two major

discriminated problems in working are
people with disabilities and older workers
(aged 40 and up). 68% of age problem is a
huge number and really surprised. Because
most of people thought that sexual and
racial injustice should occupy the top
position on this table. Age discrimination
can exist in many forms, from the refusal
to hire qualified people by young age or
refuse to hire older people by worry they
will be able to retire early. The figures
show that a lot of older people, 55 or older,
have difficulty in securing employment
even though the US economy has
overcome the recession and is progressing
strongly. No exceptions, hundreds of
thousands of Vietnamese people in the
same age in the US is also facing the
problem of age during the job search.
This image reflects deeply the
difference between the two
generations. The young lady and
the old lady sit side by side to
demonstrate how cruel is the
flow of time, and how cruel is
the workplace discrimination.
The age distinction can be a
difficult experience for the
employee morale. Additionally,
you can also have financial
difficulties due to inability to not
find a job, denied in the
promotion, loss of employment
in other cases of age
discrimination.

This picture draws two man image, they look exactly the same, and the difference is only the hair
color: one black-young,
one gray-old. The
employers always look for
people who is young, and
dont care much about how
long you have the
experiences. Although it
may be just words, but
you'll accidentally have an
unavoidable sense of being
treated like an elderly
person at work backward.
Those remarks would
affect the spirit of teamwork, morale, productivity, and convey the message that you are not
capable to reach your current location or lack of experience on the job.
In this picture, the young man show up the watch
to the owner, gives him the message: Your time is
over.
It is no coincidence that engineer technology have
a good paid and get best treatment regime.
Because this industry has a very short career and
age interval, when you turn 50, you will feel it's
difficult to keep a struggling job. Most of
technology engineer in his 40 years old became
feeling an age discrimination. And at the age of 50,
they will face stiff competitive pressure to keep
their jobs.

This image illustrates profoundly a distressed mood of the old man, because of many others
criticizing and abandonment. For many candidates, age is sometimes a hindrance when applying
for jobs. Although there is a lot of work experience, but compared to younger people, the level of
enthusiasm and their computer skills are limited. Typically, these older employees or obsessed
and lack of confidence on the issue of their age, they said that the power and their qualifications
by the younger staff.
