The purpose of a television ident is so that the viewer knows what channel he/she is on and it is
also used for branding. An ident can also explain a channels ethos and their target audience
through the moving ident. The extent that the design impacts on the target audience is that the
colours may show the ethos of the channel and it gives a short brief of what you are expecting
from the channel.

Purposes:
The purpose of our ident is to attract new viewer but still keeping the channels ethos. Will we do
this buy making our ident show a short brief Idea what you will be expecting from the channel.
We will make sure we appeal to our target audience and keep attracting the old viewers as well
and new ones to sky sports

Background
The channel Sky one belongs to the brand Sky, Sky is a massive brand with a lot of channels
for certain genres. Sky one broadcasts all kinds of different types of programmes for example
they show; live sport, sport documentaries and sport news. Sky sports is a very diverse
television channel. In sky sports ident they have a 22 second clip that shows the channels ethos
and the target audience. You can see the channels target audience in the ident because in the
ident the sky sports name comes out of the logo and colour explodes behind it and this
suggests that the multi-colours represents every kind of person whether they are black, white,
gay or straight. The channel is aimed at everyone.

Scope:
So when we have made our survey and got our focus groups together will spend 1 hour with the
focus group and we will have focus groups and spend an hour with each group and we will
make our survey and go around different place to get feedback we will never go to the same
place twice and we will go at peak time like 12-1 at lunchtime so we can get the most people's
ideas on our new ident for sky sport. We will do our survey on the streets of london because it
very busy and there will be a lot of different people we can get their views on our ident. We will
also do are survey at sporting events and sports matches. We will get 20 people to fill out our
survey before we go to the next place.

Method:
The steps that we will take to answer our research question are that we will use a lot of online
research to answer the question because it is the quickest way to access the information we
need. We will do a survey asking open and closed questions regarding our ident to gain
quantitative data where we can get really clear answers that we can analyse by sending out a
survey we can send it to a large amount of people
