EL CIMARRON

1. This film takes us back to 1809 and shows the slave trade in our borincano ground.
It focuses on the love story of two African who after marriage in Africa these are
captured, sent to Puerto Rico and are turned into slaves. By the time they arrived on
the island sugar production it was intended to triple, for this reason the landowners
wanted to get more slaves and make them work until exhaustion. You can see how
unfair and discriminatory that slaves were treated , the use of the whip , the
branding iron , lack of food is appreciated, was not allowed to have sex, forced
labor, sexual harassment of women and even forced them to live between animals .

2. An incredible amount of characters in this film are appreciated , but this focuses on
the character of Mark ( Spanish name) or Gamba ( African name ) , this was a
mixed with Spanish African , he had a altotemperamento and his only mission in
life He was returning with his wife Carolina ( Spanish name) or Fami ( African
name ) . Fami was a quiet woman and never lose faith shows that someday all
would improve for them. Another important character was what Don Pablo , this
was the rancher and owner of slaves , was of Spanish origin and viciously harassed
Fami .

Don Domingo was another important figure he was a Creole who fought for the
abolition of slavery in Puerto Rican soil. Jacinto was a free black and he started
working on the farm of Don Pablo and there taught him to speak Spanish to
Gamba , also helped him to develop his liberator spirit. Other slaves of importance
in the film were, Sijo , Narciso , Simon and Elizabeth. Also present character
development of Santiago who was the foreman of Don Pablo and which to all the "
dirty" work of Don Pablo . The film used as central characters Gamba and Fami ,
after being enslaved, Gamba tries to escape several times but was always stopped
and beaten almost to death then was forced to live with pigs.

3. In the film this two character on one occasion he was beaten for
defending a younger slave ( Simon ) and this is suicide for Gamba was
 not punished again because of him, this was the straw that broke the
glass of Gamba and had decided to reveal . Fami other hand was being
stalked by Don Paul at all times. At the end of the film all Africans are
revealed and manage to escape the hacienda of Don Pablo but in his
flight Fami is gunshot wound and died.
