I will describe the difference between print vs web documents.
I will explain what a raster graphic is.
I will explain what a vector graphic is.
I will explain what cmyk and rgb are.
Computer graphics are
Types of Images:
Raster graphics are: composed of pixels.
Vector graphics are: composed of paths.

File types:
(.ai) is the native format for Adobe Illustrator.
(.psd) is the native format for Adobe Photoshop.
(.eps) Encapsulated post script. This format will maintain the mathematical
descriptions of your file.

Wrap Up
1. In your own words describe the difference between a vector based graphic and a raster based
graphic:
Raster based graphic are made up of pixels, so when enlarge, pixels get bigger with the same
amount present as its original size. This leads to pixelated/jagged pictures, can make smaller but
not bigger due to pixilation.
For vector based graphic pictures, theyre made up of paths, which leads to no pixilation and loss
in quality when enlarged.

2. If you were sending an image to be printed, how would you format the image
CMYK

3. If you were posting an image on the web how would you format the image?
RGB

4. What is the difference between images prepared for the web and images prepared to be printed?
Images being printed want the best quality possible as will be seen with the naked eye and not
through a digital screen. Also, companies dont need to worry about loading times for printed
pictures so the quality can be the best quality. The human eye, able to process more colors than a
screen is why images for print are formatted in EPS, which isnt made up of pixels, but with
vectors. This leads no lose in quality or compromise in detail. Images for the web on the other
hand use jpeg because digital monitors can only display around 72 pixels per inch. So JPEG is
used to create shorter loading times on the web.
