Live with emotions

Very often we talk about our beliefs, ideas and knowledge. We look to share them in every talk,
often very certain about them, as if our whole existence would revolve solely around them. Somehow,
everyone of us values rationality more than anything, and we place diplomas, roles and positions in
a very high place.

In this war of ideas, emotions are set aside, considered weaknesses in the way of our evolution,
proof of the fact that we are not yet mature enough, or ready to handle certain situations. We learn
from a very early age to label, to repress and reject emotions as if they were some kind of disease.

Everytime I meet a person opposed to emotions I ask her: What about happiness? What about the
joy, the well being and the satisfaction you experience when youre with your loved ones or you
manage to end a project? Where do you place that joy? Why dont you give up on that joy as well?

Emotions are doomed because they are not understood, just like everything that doesnt have a
tolerable explanation, accepted by our reference system.

When you dont manage to


understand something, to give it a
name, to know where it comes from
and what its role is, you tend to
reject it, to run from it or to defend
yourself. This is what happens in the
case of emotions as well, they give
us certain states that we dont like,
and those put us in situations that
cause inconvenience. Since we need
to blame someone for the things that
we feel, emotions are usually that
ones found guilty.

However, emotions are much like


sentinels, guardians that permanently signal us the dangers around us, or reflect the things we need
to change in our behavior in order to avoid ending up in risky situations. Without them, we wouldnt
know what we need to change in us, we wouldnt manage to protect ourselves or understand the
people around us.

Learn to communicate through emotions, to make other feel what you feel, especially when logic
tends to keep us anchored in reality. Many times we try to do something without risking anything, to
not show other our weaknesses. But as long as we will play this safety card, we wont manage to
bring out the beautiful part in us, that positive emotion that is truly contagious for our well being.

Logic and science are always changing, many theories from the past are now proven wrong.
However, our emotions are honest, they do not have a filter, they are raw. They have protected us all
throughout our existence. We should pay attention to them, let them guide us and share them with
others. It is very important to be balanced.

Live in harmony with your emotions, they speak for you, they warn you and want only the best for
you. Dont reject them, only seek to understand what is behind them. Build a healthy relation with
them and they will certainly help you discover many things about you.
