More than half of the Romanian students want to start their own business
in the next two years and supporting entrepreneurship is a solution that we con
sider to the issue
of unemployment.
" Young Romanian are willing to work hard for what they want, according
to a recent study conducted by EY in conjunction with Bucharest University of Ec
onomic Studies among 765 students. According to the same study, 52% of the young
people are interested in developping their own businessin the next two years. C
onsidering this data young Romanians should be supported in becoming entrepreneu
rs through clear measures and schemes successfully implemented in other countrie
s and adapted to the Romanian society"said Mihaela Matei, the coordinator of Rom
anian Entrepreneurship Barometer and Special Projects Communications Officer, EY
, Romania.
EY representatives claim that supporting entrepreneurship is a solution
that we should consider for the issue of youth unemployment. "Recent studies dev
eloped by EY showed that businesses run by entrepreneurs will generate more jobs
than big corporations in 2015- 76% of entrepreneurs saying that they plan to ex
pand their workforce in 2014,compared to 31% of executives from major corporatio
ns mentions the press release.
According to E, the unemployment rate among young people in OECD countri
es has reached 15.7% while in EU countries it was 23% at the beginning of 2014,
with small variations in both cases from the previous year .In Romania, although
the last year the unemployment rate among young people was below in European a
verage in irst quarter of 2014, this rate reached 25,7% after a continuous incre
ase in the last three quarters. "Youth unemployment is a persistent problem worl
dwide which, despite omproving economic conditions, remains, at very high levels
. Providing an active entrepreneurial ecosystem is one of the best ways of deali
ng with youth unemployment, not only due to the large numer of jobs generated by
entrepreneurs, but also due to the professional fulfilment that starting ypur
own business can offer young people" declared in a press release Bogdan Ion, cou
