Hairspray was invented in the year 1948. Hairspray is a form to keep a hair design in
place. Many harmful chemicals are also found in hairspray. In 1993 there was a warning put out
that hairspray can be dangerous. Many people still dont know all the dangerous of hairspray and
heat together. Hairspray is a good and useful item to all fashion girls. If you spray tresemme
hairspray on a cotton ball, then it will burn for the longest time.
Flammability is mostly caused by flash point. Flash point is set temperature for a material
to ignite. Having a flashpoint is high flammability that is lower than 32C or 90F (highly).
Almost any aerosol spray, like hairspray, is very combustible. Acetone is another flammable
product in hairspray.
In the three brands of hairspray,Aussie, Tresemme, and Garnier, they all have only one
ingredient in common which is alcohol denat. Alcohol Denant is alcohol , like in the drinking
beverage, with added chemical in it so no one wants to drink it. The added chemicals are
Denatonium Benzoate, t-Butyl Alcohol, Diethyl Phthalate, Methyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid,
Sodium Salicylate, and Methyl Salicylate (alcohol). In the brands Aussie and Garnier they have
another chemical thats the same which is Dimethyl Ether. The chemical Dimethyl Ether a

engines.
Hairspray can be a very dangerous product if not used right. Propellant chemicals take
the form of a liquid solution or a gas held under pressure within can (norman). Butane or propane
two flammable chemicals can be found in a hairspray can. Hairspray can cause fire if the
escaping gas makes contact with a heat source. Many hairspray bottles could have a leak so
When handling fire you need to take off loose or dangling things (by). If you have long
hair you should take precaution and pull it back and goggles are also helpful. Make sure there are
no leaks on the hairspray bottle before use. Make sure to always put out the flames. Be in a safe
designated location. If you dont take these safety precautions it could be very dangerous. This
What Accounts are There of Hair Catching on Fire Due to the Use of Hairspray?
FDA warns people that some hairsprays contain flammable solvents or propellants. Those
might catch on fire if around open flames, hot, surfaces, or any other source of ignition. A
women dies from trying to light a cigarette before hairspray dried, the burns she got from the
lighter and hairspray killed her (dominguez). If you get hairspray on your skin it should be
washed off as soon as possible. When applying hairspray it should be in a well ventilated area.
Make sure you're in a safe zone. The Open Burning Test is performed in order to visually
(Qualitatively) characterize the behavior and traits of a burning liquid (chilworth). Twenty
dish(chilworth). Attempts are made to ignite the vapors evolved from the sample using a
laboratory ignitor or by passing an open flame over the sample.Upon ignition, the resulting
burning characteristic including the flame size, color, and other notable traits are observed
and recorded (chilworth). The test may be conducted at room temperature until vapor is evolved
in flammable concentrations.
If you spray tresemme hairspray on a cotton ball, then it will burn for the longest time. In
the end of all the research I found out hairspray is good and bad. It is good because it helps your
hair stay how you want it and keeps everything together. The way it's bad is by too much heat
next to hairspray and then next thing you know youre missing hair. Many people should realize
this while putting on hairspray. Any kind of accident can occur with hairspray.
