Workbook or Visual Diary!

!
What is a workbook or visual diary?!
!
Visual Diary:! Collection of ideas and anything of interest to you.
Ideas not related to individual projects.!
Workbook: ! Cohesive development of ideas towards a final outcome specific
to a project.!
!
Workbooks are required for each project that you will do this year. They will be
used in class as a way of discussing in visual terms the conceptual development of
your ideas. The workbook will be marked as part of your final assessment of the
projects. A visual diary will also help you formulate and develop your own ideas and
this may be included as part of your workbook.!
The careful and deliberate presentation of work in your workbook should be in its
own right an expression of your developing abilities as a photographer/artist.!
!
Workbook is to include but not necessarily be limited to the following.!
A list of relevant books, web pages or other information !
sources related to your project.!
!
RESEARCH: into!
Technical information!
Works of photographers/artists!
Any other information you feel is significant or relevant!
!
CONCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT: should show an articulate and readable visual
design process to include investigations of:!
Ideas!
Experiments and solutions!
Darkroom techniques and processes!
Other relevant development work!
Journal notes explaining what you are thinking and critiquing your work!
!
Note: Photocopies of artists work are acceptable as long as they are personalised,
i.e. the artist is acknowledged, or the photocopy is notated or drawn on making it into
a new art work. The image should be manipulated in some way that makes it clear
why you chose that piece of information and that you have thought about it.!
!
REMEMBER YOUR WORKBOOK IS VITAL TO ALL OF YOUR ASSIGNMENTS IN
DEVELOPING AND FINALISING YOUR IDEAS TO PRODUCE WORK TO A HIGH
STANDARD !
