Wellow Residents' Group Meeting Minutes of Tuesday 17th January 2017

1. Rubbish Collections: Secretary explained the reason for including this on the agenda was
because our Ward Councillor, Stuart Hutchinson had recently commented on his email box being
filled with complaints and issues about Amey. Those present said they had no complaints. One
resident said that replacement bins are available gratis on request.

2. GP Services: The consultation link was circulated in the last newsletter.

3. January's Shalfleet Parish Council Meeting:

PPG: Concerns were expressed that the Parish Council's selected representative to the Patient
Participation Group at Brookside is not actually a patient at that practice. The meeting asked for a
letter to be written to the Parish Council for comment. [subsequent to meeting, SPC have contacted
the Brookside Medical Practice who confirmed that only patients are eligible to attend PPG
meetings and that SPC will re-advertise the position. Rosalind has written to Mr Steve Cowley, the
Chair of the Brookside PPG to discuss volunteers from Wellow.

Defibrillator: See WRG letter to the Shalfleet Parish Council. Those present felt that the Horse
and Groom might be a good location and that the phone box in Wellow is probably too far off the
beaten track.

AOB:

Dog poo bins. Those present felt that two dog poo bins would be very useful. David called Island
Roads who provide these. All we need to do is tell IR where we'd like them and they will do it for
us. It was pointed out that nearby residents or businesses might object to a poo bin near to them
this needs to be by agreement.

Rooted Xmas tree for 2017. It would be nice to have a rooted Xmas tree that can be decorated,
planted in time for December 2017. It was suggested that we might hold a raffle at the summer
BBQ or fete to raise the money. Of course we need a place to plant it which needs a bit of thought.

Next Meeting: Tuesday 28th February 2017 at 7.15, at the Institute
