Project Briefs:
A. Project title : Rehabilitation of Forest and Critical Land in
Kabupaten Bima, Province of West Nusa
Tenggara, Indonesia.
B. Project description : A Re plantation/ Reforestation of Forest and
critical land area with Industry and Productive
Plantation called project for rehabilitation and
increasing the quality of environment that has
been destroyed by natural disaster (catastrophe)
or even because of uncontrolled human activities
such as illegal falling of trees, pillage etc. Which
be apprehensive, critical and be come dangerous
condition currently. The project will be performed
by local people in collaboration with Bina Nusa
foundation and PT. Caratwarsa Hangandana as
Consultants.
C. Goals & Purposing : Rehabilitation and increasing the quality of
environment as the main goals is not only local
people requirement but to be entire people in the
world requirement currently, because the quality
of green on tropical country as the plunge of
globe become decrease time by time. Besides
aforesaid goals, the project will open the job
opportunity to the local people.
The product from productive plantation that
handled by local people will organized by Bina
Nusa Foundation and collaboration with local
people cooperation will be distributed back to
local people as their additional income.
D. Location : The location is in sub district Sape Bima
Regency, Province of West Nusa Tenggara

Sangia Village and Rai Oi Village.
Geographical location is on between 118 o 44 119 o
22 EL and 08 o 08 08o 57 SL. for detail please see

The Climate is only have two season, that are rainy
season and dry season. The temperature is
approximately between 30o 32o C.
Reforestation in this location is very important because
the land area become dangerous from erosion and will
flush out the top soil.
E. Land area : Total critical land area that required to rehabilitate and
re plantation approximately 68,280.97 Ha consist of
38,642.95 Ha inside the Government forest area and
29,638.02 Ha outside of the Government forest area
that covered in 10 sub districts, but this proposal is
only covered 7,384 Ha in sub district Sape and will
continued to other district periodically.

1. Methodology
Step by step of work is began from :
a. Prepare and provide the team work, management system and administration
standard procedural.

On this stage, it will be decide who would be a Project Manager,
Assistant PM, field supervisor, etc and on how the Administration
standard procedural would be handled.
b. Project socialization to the local people.
This stage is to give well information to local people to get positive
response and support by them
c. Preparation of the temporary nursery and site office
Temporary nursery is necessary to refresh the trees seedling after long
way travel from supplier nursery to location before planted.
Site office is necessary also to get well management and control to the
project.
d. Orientation and Site mapping
During preparation of the temporary nursery and site office, orientation
and site mapping is able to be done.
This job is necessary to create work program.
e. Provide and Purchase trees seedling
Providing and purchasing trees seedling are from some supplier that
selected with criteria it has to good quality of trees seedling, it has the
best price and on time delivery.
All of this process would be transparency, well organized and tight
control.
f. Planting
Plantation stage consist of some activities:
- Clean up the row or lines of plantation from other unexpected plants,
grass and shrubs. Normally this clean up process using chemical
material such as round up to get more effective.
- Continued with setting the plantation lay out and stake out to ensure
the position of plants.
- Provide the inspection walkway.
Inspection walk way is necessary on plantation stage or even in
maintenance stage.
- Excavation the soil to providing hole for planting the plants.
- Pick up the trees seedling from temporary nursery to plantation
location.
- Planting the trees seedling
- Replacing the plants that un growth.
g. Maintenance and Watering period
After the planting process all plant will be maintained by fertilizer, pesticiding
and watering when never rain
Fertilizing, pesticiding and watering will be done by manually (local people)
and backed up by simple and temporary irrigation technology.
More people involve in this maintenance process would be better which is
mean more people get the job and get additional income as well.
h. Monitoring, training/ establishment and Supervision
All activities will be monitored and supervised by the team on achieved
progress, workmanship, quality and budgeting.
Training/ establishment is to increase the local people skill in planting, plants
maintenance and also increasing the local people awareness regarding re
forestation.
i. Evaluation
All program will be evaluated by the team on planting system or method,
approaching system to the people and controlled the budget for improvement
on next program.
j. Reporting
Reporting will be done on daily, weekly and monthly period, during completion
time period.
2. Selecting Plantation
Learning to the past experience that illegal falling always took the trunk of trees
because of the trees is a kind of industry plantation such as teak, mahogany etc.
In this rehabilitation program, the plantation will be selected 60% industry
plantation such like teak, albania, pinus etc and 40% is productive plantation such
as fruits trees.
If the people stolen the fruits, the tree itself is still remain and life which is the
environment quality will stay in good condition.
Consider to aforesaid, the trees will be selected as follow :

b. Productive Plantation
- Jambu mete ( cashew nuts/ gragus/ anacardium occidentale )

3. Plantation Program
Total completion time is 28 weeks and 16 weeks for maintenance period.
( Please see the Program as in attachment G for detail )

4. Cost Estimation
The expenses required for all this program totally is Rp. 34,094,824,680.00
or US $ 3,906,175.64 ( US$ 1 = Rp. 8,400.00 ) including maintenance period
( For detail see attachment H )

5. Post Operational on productive trees/ plantation

Productive plantation would be handled & operated by Bina Tunas
Foundation in collaboration with local cooperation in handling the
maintenance take the fruits and sale the fruits production. The income from
profit in handling the productive plantation will be distributed back to the local
people as their additional income to increasing the local people life style in
healthy life.
