protection to be required after installation on foundation of material & equipment and
preservation based on the requirement, manufacturers or other applicable recommended
documents.

1.2 After installation activity is completed the Commissioning Manager is responsible for
preservation of the machine

1.3 The QA Engineer is responsible for verifying the status of handing and preservation of
material & equipment.

2 HANDLING

2.1 Pumps and fans are delivered to the site shall be handled as follows.

2.1.1 Equipment shall be unpacked in the presence of purchasers field supervisor

and a representative of the equipment supplier. All spare parts tools, etc.,
shall be repacked, clearly marked with the equipment numbers, and stored in
the warehouses as instructed. Fragile parts, such as level oilier capillary
tubes, small piping, etc., shall be removed from the equipment after marked,
and stored in the warehouses. The parts shall be clearly identified by the
tags.

2.1.2 Machine surface shall be checked and rust-preventative applied as

necessary.

2.1.3 Equipment opening shall be tightly closed with temporary covers after
filling with the rust-preventatives specified by purchaser. The temporary
covers shall be removed before the piping is connected.

2.1.4 The bottom of the plate shall be cleared with water or suitable solvent to
wash off any mud, oil or grease before installation.

2.1.5 All coupling shall be uncoupled, and the coupling elements clearly marked
with the equipment numbers, and stored in the warehouses.

2.1.6 After checking the equipment and confirming that are no abnormalities, the
equipment shall be temporarily stored at the yard or delivered to the
installation site. In case any abnormality is found, it shall be reported to
purchasers field supervisor and followed his instructions.

2.2 Upon arrival at site, material or equipment may be stored either in the warehouse or
open yards with proper protection.

2.3 All material storage area shall have safe and accessible passage for trucks and mobile
equipment to off-load and further convey them to places of erection.

2.4 When transporting fabrication materials, care shall be taken so as not to deform or
damage them.
2.5 Detail transportation plan shall be executed in accordance with the construction
Logistics Heavy Equipment Transportation Plan.

2.6 Equipment Installation shall be executed in accordance with the installation procedure
for rotating equipment.

3 PRESERVATION

3.1 Preventive maintenance or preservation operation covers initial preservation on receipt

and subsequent operation to prevent corrosion and deterioration.

3.2 These will include, but not be limited to, controlled environment storage, use of
corrosion inhibitors, rotation of shafts, stroking of valves, flushing of bearing and seals,
and lubrication.

3.3 Procurement documents specify required special crates, boxes, containers,

transportation vehicle and packing to include means for maintaining critical
environment within packages, e.g., moisture content levels, gas pressure. When such
environment must be maintained, package should be labeled to indicate this condition.

3.4 Equipment is considered to be in storage the moment it is brought on site. Each

equipment Manufacturer has similar requirement for storage. The Material Controller
and Equipment Construction Supervisor shall be review and implement the
manufacturers requirement for each piece of equipment. As a minimum, the following
operation shall be used unless specifically prohibited by the manufacturer.

3.5 Upon arrival at site, material or equipment may be stored either in the warehouses or
open door area with proper and safe protection until unpacking. In some cases, even
before unpacking a special storage shall be applied for the material which requires
temperature control as will be stored air conditioned environment in accordance with
the manufacturers recommendation.

3.5.1 Pumps

1) Checks for obvious damage to pump casing, coupling and drive components.

2) Flanged opening are to be sealed with steel or wooden flange covers and gaskets.
Pipe openings are to be plastic pipe caps and tape. Threaded opening are to be
coated and plugged.

3) Inspect the lube oil and seal flush piping and fill the pipe and reservoir with rust
preventive oil.

4) If ball-type bearing are used, the bearing housing must be filled with preservative
oil.

5) Plug instrument taps

6) Cover the unit with a proper thickness transparent polyethylene film and seal it
with tape, open to bottom.

7) Unless the pump is installed on its foundation, pump skids are to be supported
full length horizontally to avoid sagging. The pump shall be stored in such a
manner as to afford easy access and air circulation.

8) Rotate the shafts specified turn every two weeks in the direction of rotation.

3.5.2 Motor

1) Remove the shipping covers, box or crate and the polyethylene shroud, but leave
the machine mounted on its skid. Inspect for obvious damage.

2) Ensure that all machined surface have rust preventative in place and in good
condition.

3) Ensure that there is a moisture barrier between the machined feet and skids.

4) After erection, cover motor with polyethylene film to protect against setting dust,
dirt, or debris, ensure that there is adequate clearance for good ventilation the
machine.

5) Store in a building at or above ambient temperature.

6) Remove drain plugs

7) Rotate the shafts specified turn every two week in the direction of rotating

3.5.3 Compressor

1) Upon receiving the equipment, conduct a through inspection noting any broken
seals and/or damaged covers. All component shipped loose must be checked to
assure that all storage preparation and/or fixture, etc. are still intact and able to
effectively protect the equipment.

2) Make sure all covers are bolted tight and all opening are properly closed against
moisture and dust.

3) All equipment and packing box must be stored in a clean, high and dry
environment. In addition, compressor base must be stored on a level surface
supported the full length of the skid or frame to prevent distortion.

4) Equipment and packing boxes must be adequately covered with traps and
preferably stored in an environment controlled building.

5) At least once a month, check for condensation and adequate protection against
rust of equipment on the foundation.

6) Unit before operation, check the inside and outside of the equipment to make
sure all running parts and exposed surface subject to corrosion and adequately
protected, if required, coat machined surface with rust preventive oil.

3.5.4 Air-Cooled Heat / Exchangers

1) Mechanical parts

All mechanical parts shall be stored in warehouses until the units are to be installed. In
addition to above, the following parts shall be maintained at the storage and site as follows.

a) Motor

Shaft shall be rotated by hand every two weeks in the direction of rotating.

Keep the machined surface of the shaft covered with coating grease.

b) Fan Shaft

All fan shafts shall be adequately protected from corrosion and physical damage.

Keep all machined surface covered with coating of grease.

c) Sheaves

Sheaves shall be kept with adequate corrosion protection for all machine surface i.e., an
application of clear plastic or lacquer.

d) Gear

Gearbox shall be filled with lubricant to retard condensation and corrosion.

Shaft shall be rotated every month.

2) Fan Hub and Fan Blades

The fan hub blade shall be stored and preserved as follows.

a) All fan hubs and fan blade shall be left in box until the erection time they
are to be used.

b) All boxes shall be kept in a area where any physical damage can be
avoided.

c) Adequate corrosion protection shall be provided for all machined surfaces.

d) Keep all machined surface covered with coating of grease.

e) The blade shall be tied with rope after installation in order to prevent
rotating by the wind.

3) Tube Bundles

The Tube bundle shall be stored and preserved as follows

a) Tube bundle shall be stored in a level position on the ground, with

adequate protection from mud, etc.

b) The tubes shall be covered, preferably with plywood.

c) All exposed nozzle shall be covered by temporary steel or wood plates.

d) Care shall be exercised to prevent any physical damage to the bundles.

3.6 The Construction Supervisor who has been issued equipment to install in the field
shall be review and implement the manufactures requirement for each piece of
equipment.

3.7 The quality of equipment shall be maintained until is turned over to the Customer.

3.8 When the final alignment of the machine is completed the Commissioning Manger
is responsible for the machine.

3.9 The preservation status will be checked and logged in the checklist.
