About the authors
Dr Gillian Shapiro is an independent consultant who specialises in working with organisations to
achieve positive change in the fields of equal opportunities and the management of diversity. She is also
a Fellow at the University of Brighton, where her current research focuses on the relationship between
employee diversity and organisational change.
Dr Etta Olgiati is the managing director of the Fondazione Regionale Pietro Seveso, where she created
and now coordinates the division on gender equality. She has significant experience in conducting
company research aimed at designing and developing equality programmes.
