This week in English-Language Arts we are continuing to focus on spelling words with the /j/, /k/, and /kw/
sounds. We are also reading Frindle as a whole class. In math, students are finishing chapter 6-
Understanding Division. If your child would like to send a Valentine Gram please turn in the grams with the
money by Wednesday, February 8th. Please make sure you are checking your childs agenda every night
and signing it.

English-Language Arts Math

This week in English-Language Arts we are
reading Raising Dragons.
Spelling Pattern: /j/, /k/, and /kw/ sounds
Spelling Words: large, gym, skin, quick,
picnic, judge, park, jeans, crack, orange,
second, squeeze
Challenge Words: courage, insect
Writing: Informative- how do we take care of
our school?
This week in math, we are learning how to
use bar models and arrays to relate
multiplication and division as inverse
operations. Students will write related
multiplication and division facts and students
will divide using the rules for 1 and 0.
In addition, students will learn multiplication
facts. This week we are focusing on
multiplication facts x9. Please make sure your
child is practicing every night!
