BHEL commissions 520 MW thermal power unit in Andhra Pradesh


Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has commissioned a 520MW coal-based thermal power unit in Andhra
Pradesh. Four 500 mw thermal sets supplied and executed by BHEL are in successful operation
at Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station of NTPC.
Commissioned at: 2x520MW Vizag Thermal Power Project of Hinduja National Power
Company Limited (HNPCL), Visakhapatnam.
Affected by the Hudhud cyclone in 2014 while it was under construction.

Andhra Pradesh Govt reestablished Commission for OBC


The state government of Andhra Pradesh has reestablished the Andhra Pradesh
Commission for Backward Classes by exercising the rights vested in the section 3 of Andhra
Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993.

Giriputrika Kalyana Pathakam Scheme launched by AP Government


Andhra Pradesh Government has launched Giriputrika Kalyana Pathakam Scheme to
support the tribal women in their quest for livelihood. The scheme seeks to reduce
rampant infant mortality and child marriages among tribal people.
Highlights of Scheme:
The scheme is designed to provide a onetime financial assistance of 50,000
rupees to each tribal woman who gets married.
The amount will be directly disbursed to the bank accounts of the beneficiary through
District Tribal Welfare Office.

RDL inks MoU with AP Government to set up naval facility at Visakhapatnam


Reliance Defence Ltd has signed an MOU with Andhra Pradesh government to set up a naval
facility along the countrys eastern coast with an initial investment of Rs.5,000 crore. It will be
located 70 km south of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Reliance Defence plans to build submarines and aircraft carriers as well as to provide
services including maintenance and refitting of ships at the facility.
Indian navy could spend nearly 20,000 crore annually over the next 15 years

RINL Inks MoU with Andhra Government Facilitating Investments in the State RINL to
Make an Investment of around Rs 38500 Crores
RINL, a corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant inked an MoU with the
Government of Andhra Pradesh during the 22nd CII Partnership Summit & 1st Sunrise
AP Investment Meet currently being held in Visakhapatnam.
Investment: Rs.38,500crores by RINL to take up various projects at Visakhapatnam with an

Exim Bank, Andhra Pradesh sign MoU to promote exports


Exim Bank of India and the Andhra Pradesh government have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) singed by Exim Bank chairman and managing director Yaduvendra Mathur
and Andhra Pradeshs industries secretary Shamsher Singh Rawat for promoting exports in the
state.

Govt consented to Heritage Development Projects for AP & Telangana
In a bid to improve tourist infrastructure in heritage places of Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh and
Warangal in Telangana, urban development ministry has given its stamp of approval to the
projects worth of Rs. 12 crore.
An inter-Ministerial HRIDAY National Empowered Committee approved development of
Heritage Park in Amaravati and 1000 Pillar Temple, Kazipet Durgah andPadmakshi
Temple in Warangal.

About Amaravati Heritage Park


It will be developed over an area of 3.50 acre at an outlay of Rs.7.36 crore.

Signing of MoU between IIPE and Andhra University


Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) and Andhra University had signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start the IIPE sessions during the academic year2016-
17.
The MoU is signed for the 3 years.
The MoU had been assisted by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
After the MoU IIPE will get the authorization to guide the nation in education, research
and training related to all areas of Petroleum and Energy.

NbeG 47: Machine Harvestable Chickpea variety released


The first machine harvestable chickpea variety, NBeG 47 has been released in Andhra
Pradesh suitable for the states variable climate.
The 2.25 tons of NbeG 47 took just 75 minutes for harvesting by the standard machinery as
compared to erstwhile process of harvesting chickpea that takes three days.
NbeG 47 was developed by Dr Veera Jayalakshmi, Principal Scientist (Chickpea Breeding)
with a support from International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid-Tropics
(ICRISAT).

INS Viraat to be developed as tourism centre


INS Viraat an Airrcraft carrier will be developed as a tourism centre in the Navy, Andhra
Pradesh.

has also become the first Indian state to implement lift irrigation.
Points to note
Pattiseema lift irrigation project is known as the first river linking project in India
It connects river Godavari with Krishna and the first pump of the project is completed
in 1 year
The project was taken by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited
They finished the first lift irrigation project worth of 1300 crores in 6 months
The lift irrigation scheme was inaugurated at Pattiseema village to meet the demands
of water scarce regions in Krishna before the completion of the main project
By this project water is pumped up to a nearby point and discharged into Polavaram
Right Main Canal which will join a tributary of Krishna which is 170 km long
The project contains 24 motors and 24 pumps of 6,300 HP and 5,300 HP
respectively with a combined capacity to discharge 8,500 cusecs of water.
The project is expected to be completed by March, 2016 and MEIL will receive an
incentive of 268 crores from the government

Five health care ATMs have come up in four states


Five Healthcare ATMs have come up in four states that dispense Medicines based on a
prescription unless they refer the patient to a doctor.
Five Medicine ATMS will come in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and
Andhra Pradesh under a health Ministry pilot that merges telemedicine with a basic
free drugs programme.
Any Time Medicine:These Medicine ATMs will be handled by a multipurpose public health
worker (MPHW) or an auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) equipped with a multi-parameter patient
vital monitor to check the basic health parameters.

ISRO establishes GIRI radar system in Tirupathi


The Space pioneer of India ISRO has established the Gadanki Ionospheric Radar
Interferometer (GIRI) near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
Located at: National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) which is an autonomous research
institute of the Department of Space
Construction: It consists of a rectangular antenna array of 160 two-element Yagi-antenna,
arranged in a 208 matrix, 20 transmitter units, 6 digital receivers including data processing
systems, a radar controller, and a host computer

To carry out unattended observations towards studying the forces from the sun like
variation in solar flux, solar flare and magnetic storm on the ionospheric irregularities
To study unattended observations from the underneath atmosphere (e.g., waves
generated by weather phenomena) on the ionospheric irregularities.

Government gives nod to run IISER at Tripati


Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved Indian Institute of Science
Education and Research (IISER) to function from a temporary campus in Tiruapati until its
permanent campus is ready.
The operationalization of the Insitute at Tirupati from the Academic Year of 2015-16
froma temporary campus at an estimated cost of Rs. 137.30 crore for the initial three
years.
Union Government had decided to establish the IISER in the residual state of Andhra
Pradesh after the telengana is carved out from the state.

Chandrababu Naidu inaugurates Andhra Pradesh Secretariat complex in AApravati


Andhra Pradesh CM, N Chandrababu Naidu formally inaugurated the states interim Secretariat
at Velagapudi village in capital region AApravati.
In the First phase,5000 houses will be built for the employees within a year in the new
capital region.
On this occasion, he also announced that an additional 50 square yards of
land would be given to farmers of the region who parted with their lands under
the Land Pooling Scheme for the development of the capital.

Rs 1K Crore Agri-Plastic Park in Vijayawada Soon


Andhra Pradesh government to have another Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and
Technology to train 5,000 plastic engineers and technicians every year and it will be set up in
Anantapur.
Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth KuApr made the announcement while laying a
stone for the CIPET at Surampalli this will be first of its kind in the state.
The Minister pronounced an Agri-Plastic Park for Vijayawada region with an
investment of Rs 1,000 crore and plastic waste management centre in the same city.
Andhra Pradesh announced 200 to 250 acres of land for the park.

BHEL commissions tiltable canal top solar plant in Andhra


Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned a seasonwise tiltable canal top solar
PV plant at Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh.
This is the first canal top project in Andhra Pradesh and also first such project
executed by the company.

Cadbury inaugurates largest Asia-Pacific facility in India


Cadbury chocolates maker Mondelez inaugurated a Rs 1,265-crore plant in SriCity, Andhra
Pradesh. It is the seventh manufacturing unit in India.
This was the companys largest plant in the Asia-Pacific region
The plants capacity is 250,000 tonnes a year, which the company hopes to touch by
2020.

The Schemes namely
1. National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Programme,
2. National Energy Efficient Fan Programme.
These Schemes will be implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited under Power ministry.
Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Programme:
The initiative will help farmers in changing energy guzzlers age-old agricultural pumps
with the new-age energy efficient agricultural pumps, with a 5-Star Rating.
These pumps will come enabled with sAprt control panel and a SIM card, giving
farmers the flexibility to switch-on and switch-off these pumps from their mobile phones
and from the comfort of their homes.
Energy Efficient Fan Programme:
Two ceiling fans can be bought on one electricity bill from domestic category consumers
only. Energy Efficient Ceiling Fans of 5-star rating 50 Watts will be provided at Rs 60 a
month on EMI basis and Rs. 1250/- on upfront basis.
This means, a consumer can recover the cost of this energy-efficient ceiling fan in less than
2 years. While these energy-efficient ceiling fans will cost Rs 1440/- to a consumer who
uses the instalment method, for those who can pay upfront can buy this fan for Rs
1250.

Andhra Pradesh agriculture project wins international information prize


Project : Andhra Pradesh
Motive : To collect specific climate data from farms and give farmers personalised information
through SMS.
Awarded Prize : Won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2016 prize in the e-
Agriculture category.
Developer of the Project : The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) in
Hyderabad.
Venue : A pilot run in Anantpur district.
International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Secretary-General Houlin Zhao announced the
prize in Geneva.
Recognition of WSIS Prizes:
In the effort to improve global connectivity, from governments and global
information communication technological companies to grassroots NGOs leading
innovative ICT-oriented projects at the lower level.
A total of 18 prizes were awarded in categories ranging from international
cooperation to information ethics.
Prestige :
It is the prestige to everyone for getting the prize in the e-Agriculture
category was the only one won by an Indian organisation.
The project, Harmonized Information of Agriculture, Revenue and Irrigation for a
Transformation Agenda- Precision Technology for Agriculture or HARITA-
PRIYA.
Advantage:
It uses wireless sensor networks (WSN) to collect micro-climate information from farms,
according to WSIS.
Purpose:
This data is used to create advisories and alerts on irrigation schedules and pests
and plant disease. Based on them state agriculture officers send out personalised
crop advisories in Telugu to farmers by SMS.
The Andhra Pradesh government, the Central Research Institute for Dryland
Agriculture (CRIDA), the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) station and
the Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University in Anantapur partnered in the project.

Andhra Pradesh to start Internet-based phone service
i. Andhra Pradesh is working on the Telephone Service which will operate on Internet
Platform, in fact AP is the first State to have obtained a telecom license and it can issue phone
numbers starting with the 797 series later this year.
ii. The internet based telephone service comes without requiring any further registration after it
obtained permission from the Telecom Ministry for starting its own IPTV (Internet Protocol based
Television network) as part of its Fibre Grid project.
iii. The project aims at providing affordable net connectivity in every corner of the State, the
government can offer free telephone services within the region by internet.

New Super fast train between Vijayawada-Secunderabad launched


i. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu tonight
flagged off the new superfast intercity express train between Vijayawada and
Secunderabad with just one stop.
ii. This train will cover a distance of 351km between the two cities in less than 6 hours has been
announced to ease travel of Andhra Pradesh Government employees to the new capital
region from Hyderabad.
iii. The Rail Minister also laid the foundation stone, through a remote video link, for the doubling
of present rail line between Guntakal and Kalluru in Anantapuramu district.

Andhra Pradesh village,Mori to be developed as Smart Village


i. The Andhra Pradesh Government and Garwood Centre for Corporate innovation of UC
Berkeley-Haas School of Business joined hands to develop the village Mori into a Smart
Village.
ii. The Mori village in East Godavari district is known for cashew-exporting to turn smart by mid-
December 2016 using digital tools, real time information and uninterrupted internet connectivity.
iii. The village will be provided 24*7 power supply, uninterrupted power supply (USP) andfibre
optic connectivity. Around 1900 households will be connected with 15 Mbps link.

Andhra Postal circle releases stamps on Yoga booklet


i. Andhra Pradesh Postal circle on behalf of the International Day of Yoga released the
Information booklet for public and stamps on yoga for Philatelists.
ii. The Information booklet contained illustrations and description of 24 yoga asana (postures)
while 12 stamps on Suryanamaskarams were released.
iii. The booklet contains four Commemorative stamps released in 1991 on various yoga postures
including Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Ushtrasana and Utthita Trikonasan

Andhra Pradesh government inks deal for Rs 10,000 crore gas-based fertilizer project
i. The Andhra Pradesh government inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a three-
nation consortium of China Huanqin Contracting and Engineering Corporation, LEPL Ventures
Private Limited and Isomeric Holdings to set up a gasbased fertilizer project at
Krishnapatanam with an investment of Rs 10,183 crore.
ii. The MoU was signed during N Chandrababu Naidus ongoing visit to China, wherein he was
participating in the World Economic Forums 10th annual meeting of New Champions in
Tianjin.
iii. The proposed year of commencement for the project is 201718 that will help generate 5,000
thousand jobs.

Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) to be 1st launched in AP and TELEGANA


As a part of setting up a new milestone in the judicial system of India, Telangana and Andhra
Pradesh are the first states in the country where Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS)will
be launched, Supreme Court Judge Madan B Lokur .
Justice Lokur is also inaugurating the first e-court (paperless court) in the High Court of
Judicature at Hyderabad for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Status of ICJS in AP and Telegana:-
The reason behind the launch of this system in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is that these
states have made lot of progress in their Judicial and security sectors.
This system will link all the courts, police stations, prosecution, forensic science
laboratories and Jails in Telegana and AP.
Now the judicial authorities of these states are entered in the process of computerizing
the high courts and also trying to bring about uniformity between the data that is
available in all the high courts.
As per this system, if the judiciary, lawyers, litigants and court staff work together there comes
a massive change in justice delivery and access to justice. The concept of e-court involves
more usage of electronic paper in the court hall and dispensing with the movement of case
records, which consumes time and manpower.

Lok Sabha passes Bill for new NIT in Andhra Pradesh


i. Lok Sabha passed the National Institute of Technology, Science, Education and Research
(Amendment) (NITSER) Bill, 2016 to establish a National Institute of Technology in Andhra
ii. With a estimate of 226 crores for three years, initially 40 crores has been released by
the central Government for the establishment of a new NIT in Andhra Pradesh.
iii. The NIT in Andhra Pradesh has been established in lines with the provisions of Andhra
Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The Reorganisation Act, 2014 provides for a NIT for the
state after its bifurcation as the existing NIT went to Telangana.
iv. This bill is presented by the Union HRD Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar in the
Parliament with denoting that In order to make India prosperous the basic sciences and
basic research has to be the thrust of higher education as Innovation is the product of research.

Prestigious Survey SMART PULSE Launched in Andhra Pradesh


i. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the State governments
prestigious Smart Pulse socio-economic survey at his residence in Undavalli, Guntur district on
Friday.

Union Cabinet approves amendments in Central List of OBCs applicable to Andhra
Pradesh and Telangana
i. The Union Cabinet has given nod for making suitable amendments in the Central List of OBCs
to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana upon recommendations by the National Commission for
Backward Classes (NCBC). The amendment done by way of inclusion/correction/deletion of
castes/communities applicable.
ii. The Commission in its series of recommendation gave 35 changes in respect of Andhra
Pradesh and 86 New Entries in respect of Telangana.

Andhra Pradesh police launches pilot project on DNA profiling


i. Andhra Pradesh Police launched DNA Index System (DIS) that allows generation of DNA profiles
from live samples like saliva and blood stains to establish a proactive policing model in the
country. This is the first-of-its-kind initiative by the state.
ii. The model was launched on pilot basis to test the efficacy of the DIS, to generate DNA
profiles of a batch of convicts and suspects involved in various crimes.
iii. The DIS system works with the help of DNA technology tool called RapidHIT developed
by IntegenX of USA.

New railway line between Nandyala and Yerraguntla commissioned


i. Indian Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N
Chandrababu Naidu commissioned a new railway line between Nandyala and
Yerraguntla in the presence of Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.This
railway line described as the dream of (late Prime Minister) PV Narasimha Rao.
ii. The Union Ministers and Chandrababu also flagged off a new passenger train between
Nandyala and Kadapa on the occasion.
iii. Thezse facilities are inaugurated through a remote video link from Vijayawada

First Solar commissions 130 MW of solar power plants in AP, Telangana


i. American photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers Indian subsidiary First Solar Power India
announced the commercial operation of 80 MW and 50 MW as part of the 260 MW project
portfolio solar power plants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
ii. The proposed Solar plants will produce as much as energy to power that will
illuminate2,27,500 average homes in India and will displace 204 tonnes of carbon
dioxide every year.

Tata Power Solar Commissions 100 Mw Project In Andhra


i. The 100 MW project was commissioned using domestically manufactured cells and modules,
thus fitting in with the governments Make in India mission, and makes a huge addition to Tata
Power Solars PV portfolio in India.
ii. It is ntoed that this is the biggest solar project commissioned using domestically manufactured
solar cells and modules. The plant is expected to generate nearly 160 million units of energy per
year and help offset approximately 110,000 tonnes of CO2 in the first year.

Nellore Station bags first place in SCR zone


i. Nellore Railway Station topped in cleanliness ranking in Vijayawada division and the
Secunderabad based South Central Railway zone in implementing Swachh Bharat
guidelines.
ii. The Survey was conducted by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporationthrough
TNS India Private Limited in 407 stations (in 75 A-1, 332- A category stations) across the country.
iii. The survey was commissioned by the Environment & Housekeeping Management Directorate -

About Scramjet Engine:


A scramjet supersonic combusting ramjet is a variant of a ramjet air breathing jet
engine in which combustion takes place in supersonic airflow. As in ramjets, a scramjet relies on
high vehicle speed to forcefully compress the incoming air before combustion.
But a ramjet decelerates the air tosubsonic velocities before combustion, while airflow in
a scramjet is supersonic throughout the entire engine. This allows the scramjet
to operate efficiently at extremely high speeds.
Scramjets are designed to operate in the hypersonic flight regime, beyond the reach of
turbojet engines, and, along with ramjets, fill the gap between the high efficiency of
turbojets and the high speed of rocket engines.

i. Andhra Pradesh became the second state in the country after Gujarat to achieve 100 per
cent electrification of households by the latest report. JM Financials published the report based
on a national-level survey on electrification in various states.
ii. Discussing this through a tele-conference with top officials of the Energy Department Chief
Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reported that they would achieve 100 per cent
electrification by June-end.

India International Seafood Show Held In Vizag


i. The three day International Seafood Show held to discuss the challenges and strategies for

Andhra Pradesh tops in attracting industrial investment


i. According to the latest RBI Report,Andhra Pradesh had emerged on the top among all other
states in attracting industrial investments in 2015-16, pushing the previous years
topper Maharashtra to the third spot.
ii. Andhra Pradesh attracted an investment of Rs.21,914crore out of the Rs.1,38,700
crore gross investments across India, the state government officially released, quoting a report
by the Reserve Bank of India was 8.1 per cent.
iii. Tamil Nadu also made quantum gains in investment, attracting 9 per cent of the gross
and jumping to the fourth spot.In 2014-15, investment flow into Tamil Nadu was a mere 2.9 per
cent

Andhra Bank tied up with Cigna TTK, Reliance General Insurance


i. Public sector lender Andhra Bank announced that it had entered into agreements with private
insurers Cigna TTK and Reliance General Insurance to provide health and general insurance
services to its customers.
ii. The tie-up with both the insurance companies would immensely benefit the customers by
providing alternatives in choosing products.
iii. The agreement was signed by Andhra Bank Executive Director S K Kalra, MD and CEO of
Cigna TTK Health Insurance Sandeep Patel and CEO of Reliance General Insurance Rakesh
Jain.Andhra Bank shares closed at Rs.60.95 apiece, down 0.08 percent from their previous close.

ISRO successfully launched INSAT-3DR, Advanced Weather Satellite


The Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO successfully placed INSAT-3DR, an
advanced weather satellite in the GSLV-F05 rocket into the intended orbit from the Satish Dhawan
Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
The Intended plan:-
The 2,211-kg rocket has three stages, and the last stage is fitted with the cryogenic engine
which provides a thrust 1.5 times greater than in vehicles propelled by conventional liquid rocket
engines.
Once launched, the rockets engines burn and fall off in stages. At the last stage, the
cryogenic engine comes to life and takes the satellite to space. A propulsion puts theINSAT-
3DR into a Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO).
The INSAT-3DR joins KALPANA-1 and INSAT-3D meteorological satellites currently
orbiting in space. INSAT-3D which was launched in 2013 counted features like using
Atmospheric Sounding System to monitor weather.
INSAT-3DR will be capable of imaging in two thermal infrared bands for estimationof
sea surface temperature with better accuracy.
It is noted that ISRO launched the first Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle the GSLV-
D5with an indigenous cryogenic engine, joining the US, Russia, Japan, China and
France in a select club of nations capable of developing such technology.

PSLV Rockets successfully launches 8 satellites into two different orbits


The PSLV C35 Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, carrying three satellites from India, three from
Algeria, and one each from Canada and the US, lifted off from Sriharikota in Andhra
Pradesh and the launch was 100 per cent successful.
PSLV C35 :Indias Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its thirty-seventh flight (PSLV-C35),
launches the 371 kg SCATSAT-1 for weather related studies and seven co-passenger
satellites into polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO). Co-passenger satellites are ALSAT-1B,
ALSAT-2B, ALSAT-1N from Algeria, NLS-19 from Canada and Pathfinder-1 from USA as well as
two satellites PRATHAM from IIT Bombay and PISAT from PES University, Bengaluru.
SCATSAT-1 was placed into a 720 km Polar SSO whereas; the two Universities /
Academic Institute Satellites and the five foreign satellites will be placed into a 670 km
polar orbit. This is the first mission of PSLV in which payloads were launched into
two different orbits.

Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh first States to become Open Defecation Free in urban areas
The birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi Porbandar, Gujarat declared as ODF to commemorate the
147th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi this October 2.
Gujarat gave ODF status to each of its 180 cities and towns at a function in Porbandar
attended by Union Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Narendra Singh Tomar and
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
All 110 cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh were given the ODF tag by CM N
Chandrababu Naidu at an event in Tirupati.
India has created a sort of World Record for Construction of toilets or Solid and Liquid
Waste Management.

Krishna water tribunal refuses to relook into allocation


i. In a major set back to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States, the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on
sharing of Krishna waters (Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II) has made it clear that it
would not take a relook into allocation of water among the riparian States but would take up
distribution of water allocation to combined AP to Telangana and residuary AP States.
ii. The tribunal headed by Justice BrijeshKumar explained that it would take up the issue of
distribution of water allocated to erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh between the residuary state
of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Ease of Doing Business: A.P and Telangana top in 2016 all-India ranking
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have jointly topped the ease of doing business ranking in the
list prepared by the World Bank and the Indian governments department of industrial policy
and promotion for 2016.
About Ease of Doing Business Index :
Gujarat has slipped to the third position in the list and Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh
and Haryana occupied the fourth, fifth and sixth slots in the index based on the degree of
implementation of the governments 340-point Business Reform Action Plan.
It is noted that Last year, only seven states implemented more than 50% of the
reforms proposed. This year, 17 have implemented more than 50% of the 340 reforms
listed by DIPP.
States have created a dedicated body as a one-stop system for state-level regulatory and
fiscal incentives approvals for single-window clearances.
The states have also made good progress in tax reforms by mandating e-registration for
value-added tax, central sales tax, and other such, and by allowing online payment and tax
return filing.

Andhra Pradesh, Singapores MAS pact for financial services


Andhra Pradesh government signed an agreement with the Monetary Authority
of Singapore (MAS)
to promote innovation in financial services in their respective markets.
About the Agreement,
Under the FinTech Cooperation Agreement, MAS and the state government will explore joint
innovation projects on technologies such as digital payments and block-chain, collaborate on
development of education programmes and curricula on fintech (financial technologies).
The Singapores central bank (MAS) and the Andhra Pradesh government have also
agreed to discuss emerging FinTech trends and exchange views on regulatory issues
related to innovations in financial services.
This agreement will pave way for greater FinTech collaboration between Singapore and
Andhra Pradesh. We are looking to create a market place in India for FinTech solutions
developed in Singapore.

Andhra Pradesh govt released Rs. 99.62 crore under AMRUT scheme
Under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)
scheme, Andhra Pradesh has released Rs.99.62 crore to AP-Urban Finance and Infrastructure
Development Corporation Limited (AP-UFIDC) for the year 2016-17.

Andhra inked pact with Russias JSC United Shipping Corp


i. The Economic Development Board of Andhra Pradesh signed a pact with Russias JSC
United Shipping Corporation for setting up a ship-building unit in the state.
ii. The MoUs were signed in the presence of visiting Russian Minister for Trade and Industry
Denis Menturov and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

New Fast Attack Craft INS Tihayu Commissioned In Vizag


The Indian Navy commissioned the newest Car Nicobar-class fast attack craft INS Tihayu at the
Eastern Naval Command.
i. INS Tihayu, specifically built for meeting needs of extended coastal and offshore surveillance
and patrol, has a length of 49.9 metres and maximum breadth of 7.5 meters. Named after an
island in Nicobar, the vessel has an endurance of 2,000 nautical miles at 12 to 14 knots of
economical speed.
ii. The ship, which has a 30 mm CRN 91 gun and an electronic day-night fire control system, has
a crew of four officers and 41 sailors led by Commander Ajay Kashhov.
iii. It is also equipped with two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns and multiple medium machine guns
besides shoulder launched air missiles to combat aerial threats

Smooth-coated otter was sighted for the first time in krishna sanctuary
i.Smooth-coated otter was sighted for the first timein the mangrove forest near the Krishna
wildlife sanctuary (KWS) in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.
ii.In all, seven otters including a family of four, were found in a playful mood and the rest were
photographed while preying on the fish in the brackish waters.

by Rajasthan (41.89), Karnataka (39.34) and Maharashtra (39.29).Kerala, Gujarat, Delhi

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu to head CMs Committee on Demonetisation


i. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been nominated by the Central
Government to head the sub-committee of Chief Ministers of five States constituted to deal with
the situation arising out of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes.
ii. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley requested Chandrabab Naidu to head the
committee which would study various aspects after demonetization and how it has affected
different sections of the people.
iii. Chief Ministers Sivaraj Singh Chauhan (Madhya Pradesh), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Narayana
Swamy (Puducherry) and Manik Sirkar (Tripura) will be the other members. The five-member
committee will study the public problems due to demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000
currency notes and would submit its report to the Centre for taking required steps.
iv. The move aims to stop the Oppositions attack on the Centres demonetization decision. The
Opposition organised Jan Aakrosh Diwas on November 28 to protest against the move.
