Title of the Article : World leaders react to Trumps travel ban
Who was involved? :
-

President Donald Trump

Citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Sudan

Where did it occur? : The United States of America, Globally-known issue

What happened? :
(1)President Trump signed an executive order to ban 7 Muslimmajority countries from entering the United States.
(2)World leaders and prominent figures have called out the US
President saying that his actions are divisive, illegal, insulting and
discriminatory
Brief Summary :
Since President Trump signed his 7 Muslim-majority country ban from
the United States, he has been under fire from multiple world leaders and
prominent figures. Though many people have expressed negativity towards
Trumps actions, the 7 Muslim-majority nations on his ban list have not
commented on the current issue. In Britain, Nigel Farage, a vocal Brexit
figure has shown support towards Trumps actions and said he is entitled to
do this. Other far-right leaders in Europe are also in support and are in the
same position as Farage. In contradiction, Canadian Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau enforces the importance of welcoming refugees. He said without

directly referring to Trumps executive ban, that those fleeing from their
home countries were welcome in Canada.
Why did you find the article interesting?
I found this article interesting and also slightly entertaining due to the
fact that President Trump has only been in the Oval Office for about a week
and has already sparked an outrage amongst the nations citizens. There
have been numerous protests against his actions and now even more have
arisen following his executive order to ban 7 Muslim-majority countries from
entering the United States. Personally, I think its unfair to refer to a whole
population as terrorists based only on the negative actions done by specific
individuals because these people came to America for a better like than the
ones they had before. To conclude, I look forward to see how this plays out
and if any changes will occur in the Trump administration on this topic.

Connect this article to something we have studied in Yearbook
I find that this article relates to this one story Mr. Donovan told us in class
one day and we found it all really funny. (Note this may not be a direct
connection, but it does make sense). In the same way how Trump wont let
immigrants from Muslim-majority countries enter the US is like how a few
years ago, the cheerleaders wouldnt let the yearbook team take their
picture simply for the fact that they didnt shave their legs. Now I know that
the reasons exhibit very different causes, ut it was still a very funny
connection that I happened to make.
