Materials Needed
PlaneBernat worsted weight yarn in red grey and black, 4 coffee stir sticks and a drinking straw
PilotRed Heart soft touch yarn in tan, scrap of white worsted weight yarn, black fabric paint
4mm crochet hook
stitch marker (scrap of yarn)
yarn needle
polyester fiberfill
glue gun
Notes
Finished plane measures 7 x 11. A portion of this pattern is crochet in continuous spirals where the
rounds are not joined. It will be stated if rounds are to be joined. When working in continuous rounds,
place stitch marker at the beginning of each round.

Plane
red yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =18sc.
4 10. Work 18sc around.
11. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =24sc.
12 19. Work 24sc around.
20. Work (3sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =30sc.
21 - 26.Work 30sc around.
27. Now you will make the opening for the
cockpit insert. Ch 1, turn, 20sc.
28 - 34. Ch 1, turn, 20sc.
35. Ch 10, sc into first stitch of previous row. See photo. Work 19sc around.
36. Work sc into each of the 10 chains, then 20sc around.
37 - 39. Work 30sc around.
40. Change to grey yarn, work 30sc around in the back loops.
41- 47. Work 30sc around.
48. Work (3sc, sc next 2 together) x6 =24sc.
49. Work (2sc, sc next 2 together) x6 =18sc.
50. Work (sc, sc next 2 together) x6 =12sc. Bind off leaving a 5 tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to
gather remaining stitches closed.
Cockpit Insert grey yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =18sc.
4. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =24sc.
5. Work (5sc, 3sc in next stitch) x4 =32sc.
6. Work 32sc around in back loops.
7 & 8. Work 32sc around.
9. Work fpsc around. Bind off, leaving a
15 tail of yarn. Stuff airplane with
fiberfill. Insert cockpit.
Use needle on tail of yarn to sew
cockpit into plane. See photos.

Tail of Plane red yarn make 3


1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 6sc around.
3. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =9sc.
4. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =12sc.
5 - 9. Work 12sc around. Bind off on last round, leaving a 15 tail of yarn. Position wings at the back of
the plane and sew or hot glue in place. See photos for placement.

Wings red yarn make 2


1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =18sc.
4. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =24sc. Work in continuous rounds on these 24 stitches until piece
measures 9 in length.
5. Work (2sc, sc next 2 together) x6 =18sc.
6. Work (sc, sc next 2 together) x 6 =12sc.
7. Work (sc next 2 together) x 6 =6sc. Bind off, leaving a 5
tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to gather
remaining stitches closed. Flatten piece. See photo.
8. Postion the bottom wing as shown in photo, and either
hot glue or sew in place.

Complete the wings supports before


attaching the upper wing.

Wing Supports grey yarn and coffee stir sticks make 4


1. Ch 15, starting in second ch from hook, sc 14.
2 - 4. Ch 1, turn, 14sc. Bind off on last round, leaving a 12 tail of yarn. Fold piece in half lengthwise, with
stir stick inside. Trim stir stick to about 3 . Use needle on tail of yarn to sew edges together,
encasing stir stick inside.

5. Hot glue (or sew) the wing supports to the bottom wing, about 1 in from the tip of the wing. See photo.
Then position the top wing and hot glue or sew it in place. See photos.

Landing Gear grey and black yarn, straw trimmed to 5 length


1. With grey yarnch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Change to black yarnwork this round in back loops (sc, 2sc in next
stitch) x6 =18sc.
4. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =24sc.
5. Work 24sc around in back loops.
6. Working in the back loops (2sc, sc next 2 together) x 6 =18sc.
7. Work (sc, sc next 2 together) x 6 =12sc. Stuff with fiberfill. Bind off
leaving a 5 tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to gather remaining
stitches closed. Dont cut yarn. Run a stitch through the center of the tire to the front, to pull the tire
together in the center. See photos.
8. Make a second tire.
9. For the landing gearwith grey yarnch 24, starting in second ch from hook, work 23sc across.
10 - 12. Ch 1, turn, 23sc across. Bind off on last row, leaving a 12 tail of yarn.

Use needle on tail of yarn to sew the 2 long edges together, encasing the straw inside.

11. Sew or hot glue each end of the landing gear to the back of the wheels. Fold landing gear as shown in
photo and hot glue or sew to the underside of the plane. See photos. I hot glued on an extra little piece
of the straw for added support.

12. I made a crochet piece to cover my


straw supports. With grey yarnch 25,
starting in second ch from hook, work
24sc across.
13.Ch 1, turn, 24sc across. Bind off and
hot glue or sew over top of the landing
gear.

Propeller grey yarn


1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work (sc, 2sc in each stitch) x 3 =9sc.
3. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =12sc.
4 - 17. Work 12sc around.
5. Work (2sc, sc next 2 together) x3 =9sc.
6 & 7. Work 9sc around.
8. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =12sc.
9 - 22. Work 12sc around.
23. Work (2sc, sc next 2 together) x3 =9sc.
24. Work (sc, sc next 2 together) x 3 =6sc. Bind off leaving a 5 tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to
gather remaining stitches closed.
Propeller Cap black yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch, ss to join round and bind off. Sew or hot glue to the middle of the propeller.
3. Sew or hot glue the propeller to the nose of the plane.

Pilot tan yarn black paint


1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3 7. Work 12sc around. Stuff with fiberfill.
8. Work (sc next 2 together) x 6 =6sc.
9. Work 6sc around.
10. Work 2sc in each stitch around =12sc.
11. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 6 =18sc.
12 15. Work 18sc around.
16. Working in back loops, (sc, sc next 2 together) x 6 =12sc. Stuff.
17. Work (sc next 2 together) x 6 =6sc. Bind off, leaving a 5 tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to
gather remaining stitches closed.
18. Add 2 dots of black fabric paint for eyes.
Aviator Hat black yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =18sc.
4. Work 10sc.
5 - 7. Ch 1, turn, 10sc. Chain 5, to make a strap. Bind off.
Scarf white yarn
1. Ch 50. Bind off. Tie scarf around neck.
