operated
for 7 dayys or less, the moodule may be keppt wet by keeping it
s
submerged
in the biiomass, provided thhe following conditions are met:
The biomass is healthy and is aerated and the recirculation of biomass
over the membraane chamber is funcctioning properly.
The module is fully submerged in thhe biomass.
The module aerration is switched on every 30 minuutes for a period of 1
minute to assuree mixing of sludge innside the module.

Storage off Used Modules

If the idlee period is longer thhan 7 days, immerrsion in a storage solution
s
is
required. Proceed as followss:
Submeerge the module fuully in potable water. Start the aerationn for at least
3 to 4 hours, drain the tank and finally refill with
w fresh water aggain.
Add sodium hypochloritee to form a solutioon of concentrationn of 10 mg/l
total chlorine at pH betweeen 5.5 and 7.5.
Checkk the chlorine conncentration daily. If the concentrattion of total
chlorinne drops below 5 mg/l
m additional dossage of sodium hypochlorite is
necessary.
m Storage
Long-term
If a dry-uup cannot be avoidded due to transpoort or if the idle peeriod is longer
than 21 days,
d
the module has to be conditioneed. Please consult KMS for more
details.
Proper Handling
Utmost care
c
at any timee should be takenn when handling the module.
Collisionss, impact or hitting the ground in a rough manner may damage
modules or connections.
Precautioons When Working Near the Hollow Fiber Module
Keep thee hollow fiber moodules free from contact with sharp objects or
exposuree to heat sources. Actions that maay cause sparks (e.g. welding,
grinding) should be strictly prohibited.
