Installation Notes
Un-compress Embertone_Canjo.rar using your favorite archiving utility (WinRAR for PC UnRarX for
Mac)
Included are a bunch of .nki files to play around with, including some effect patches.
Arpeggiator
f Note Order A standard arpeggiator feature that defines how notes will sequence through the active
note.
g Humanization area is one of our favorite spots in this window. Velocity humanization will randomize
the aggregate velocity value by +/- the amount displayed. The Tightness knob takes that perfect
computerized rhythm and fudges it up a little bit. *Note that high tightness values will make the arp
pattern sound as if its played by your drunk cousin Ned.
h Main Arpeggiator Zone The meat and potatoes of the module, controls standard function: Steps,
Rate, # of Strikes, and Swing. The best way to learn what these features do is to change settings
and observe the results!
i Sync Type allows you to define where on the beat you want your arpeggiation to be triggered: Free
Running means that the note will be triggered and applied to the pattern the moment you strike a new
note. Sync to next beat will quantize your start input to the next beat, so that the sequence is assured
to be lined up properly, and Sync next bar is the same idea, but quantized/applied to the next bar of
music instead of the next beat.
j Preset Area A selector/drop down menu with 50 factory presets and nearly 80 empty zones for user
presets. *Note that factory presets cannot be changed, however, you can SAVE AS and choose a
user preset slot if you want to make your own variation on a factory preset. When you press Save
As, in order to seal the deal, you need to choose WHERE you want to save as. Any of the User
Presets are fair game
** Another awesome feature that can help you move between presets on the fly look for ENABLE PRESET
CC. When this is selected, the CC youve entered will allow you to quickly cycle through the factory and user
presets. This way, you can change patterns whenever you want, without having to load a new patch!
k Import/Export allows you to take your presets from one instrument and transfer them over to
another Or easily share your custom presets with friends!
l Velocity pattern randomizer will automatically give you a pattern based on the number of steps
currently within view.
When using the arpeggiator, humanization is your friend! This helps keep patterns from stagnating.
Although you cannot change our factory presets, you can Save As and choose a user preset slot.
When you press Save As, in order to seal the deal, you need to choose WHERE you want to save
as. Any of the User Presets are fair game
(stated again for emphasis) With ENABLE PRESET CC Selected (in the arpeggiator view),
whichever CC is entered will allow you to quickly cycle through the factory and user presets. Now you
can change patterns whenever you want, mid-sequence, without having to load a new patch!
Use the Canjo with the will of a superhero, the subtlety of professional athlete, and the wisdom of a 79
