CLASS ACT
Exhibit Jan 10 thru Feb 18
Reception Saturday Jan 28, 6-8 pm
Class Act features instructor Darlene Godfrey and
eight of her students in her class at Cleveland
Community College in Shelby. Godfrey has taught
painting at CCC for several years, having graduated from
there herself before receiving a degree from GardnerWebb University. Godfrey describes her students as a
great group of creative individuals, each with their own
style and way of doing art, not feeling intimidated and
enjoying the process. The artwork in the show is
primarily done in watercolor which Godfrey loves and
excels at both in teaching and painting herself.
Exhibiting alongside their teacher are students: Beth
Caveny, Carol Cox, Janet Dyer, Jane Edwards, Sherry
Henderson, Jim Martin, Pat Parr and Evelyn Standley.
A public reception will be held Saturday, January
28 from 6-8 pm to meet the artists.

Farm Buildings to Follies

Exhibit Feb 21 thru Mar 30
Reception Saturday Feb 25, 6-8 pm
Farm Buildings to Follies consists of architecturally
based metal sculptures by Gaston County native Rudy
Rudisill. This series was inspired when driving through
Texas he saw an abandoned grain elevator, with an open
door swaying in the wind reminding him of a door to a
house. Thus began a fascination with farm buildings and
a new direction in his sculpture, all abstracted and
altered with his own personal interpretation.
Rudy works primarily with metals, from making
jewelry to large scale sculptures. He has exhibited
extensively throughout his career, winning numerous
awards along the way. Rudys education includes
Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Crafts,
Appalachian Center for Crafts and workshops with the
Florida Guild of Goldsmiths. He is retired from the
Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, NC, as
an Exhibits Consultant.
A public reception will be held Saturday,
February 25 from 6-8 p.m. This event is free and
open to the public.
