Provenance Vineyards
Come for a Taste of Fortitude
Located off Highway 29 in Rutherford, Provenance Vineyards announces
their new wine release, Fortitude 2013, to wine enthusiasts around the globe.
Fortitude is no ordinary wine, and represents the same bold qualities that its
name suggests: strength, courage and resilience, while the wine itself is rich,
complex and layered. During your travels through the Napa Valley, this is
simply one Big Napa Cab you dont want to miss.
Provenance Vineyards goes straight to the source for the highest quality
fruit in the Napa Valley. Fortitude is comprised of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon,
blended from a selection of Provenance Vineyards best Cabernet wine barrels.
The grapes were sourced from Provenances finest vineyards located in
Rutherford, Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain, Calistoga, St. Helena and
Oakville.
Fortitude was born out of a distinct sense of place and terroir. Over the
past 150 million years, the Napa Valley was formed by tectonic plate
movement and volcanic activityextreme geological activity that created
soil diversity unparalleled by any other wine region in the world. This
diversity allows for remarkably complex and outstanding wines to be crafted.
In honor of the resilient formation of the Napa Valley, Fortitude is a blend
from the finest vineyards throughout Napa, adding another layer of rich
complexity to the wine.
Provenance Vineyards
The word Provenance is derived from the French language,
and means origin or source. Provenance Vineyards produces
wines that capture the essence of their origin. This is achieved
by selecting the highest quality fruit in Napa Valley, forging
enduring relationships with the regions top vineyard owners.

Private Blending
The private blending is the most exclusive experience available at Bennett Lane. It features a
vineyard tour and a sensory evaluation seminar focused on Cabernet, Merlot and Syrahthe
principal components in Bennett Lanes signature red Maximus blendfollowed by a custom
blending experience and cheese pairing.
During the blending you will blend your own bottle of Maximus Red Feasting Wine using the same lab
techniques and equipment a winemaker would use. Once you have your blend finalized you will:
bottle, cork, foil and label your own individual bottle (one per person).
After you blend your wine you will get to sit down with a glass of your blend and enjoy a custom
cheese plate. The experience is capped off by a private reserve wine tasting.
The whole experience takes about 2 to 3 hours depending upon the speed of the group.
This experience costs $225 per person, or for groups of six or more, the price is $175 per person due
to setup, exclusivity and the materials involved.
If you would like to book a private blending experience visit the website or call (707) 942-6684 and
tell them you would like to book a private blending experience.
Cellars of Sonoma
The only Collective Tasting Room in Downtown Healdsburg
Healdsburg is a food and wine lovers dream, awash with top
restaurants, lodgings, unique shops and wine tasting rooms. There are
now 26 tasting rooms on and near Healdsburgs historic Plaza. Cellars
of Sonoma recently opened their new location smack-dab in the
middle of all the Healdsburg action and its definitely worth a stop.
For the most part, its filmed at Cellars of Sonoma, but has been
known to move to other remote locations like vineyards and the
vintner wine estates to film. Every December, Cellars of Sonoma hosts
a gala winemaker event, where winemakers from all of the featured
wineries pour their wines and rub elbows with the guests.

A Celebration of Innovation
The San Francisco
Brewers Guild and Northern
Californias finest breweries
are hard at work planning for
an incredible week of craft
beer celebrations throughout
the Bay Area during SF Beer
Week 2017. With the return
of the countrys premier Beer
Week, the ever-increasing
innovation and creativity
taking shape in breweries
across the region will be on
full display like no other SF
Beer Week before it. The SF
Beer Week Opening Gala, the top-tier regional invitational festival that
kicks off the festivities at Pier 48 on February 10, will spotlight flavordriven brewing innovations glass by glass. Revelations and discoveries
will continue through hundreds of thirst-quenching events around the
greater San Francisco Bay Area, wrapping up on February 19.
Over 100 breweries operate in one of the worlds most creative
regions. The Bay Area continues to be a hotbed of beer innovation,
where trends and techniques are created, rediscovered and riffed on.
Flipping beer styles on their heads wielding a growing influence on
dishes by celebrity chefs dishes and beverage menus at renowned
restaurants adapting beer-making techniques, creating specialized
businesses like fermentation-only facilities, embracing
entrepreneurial endeavors as with Californias first artisan malting
company innovation continues apace in the City by the Bay and the
broader area.
The rise of hyper-local breweries entirely focused on serving
community first through their taprooms has created a new
neighborhood hangout across the Bay Area. Dozens of breweries are
selling fresh-brewed beer on site and hand-delivering kegs to just a
few trusted bars. These breweries are embracing near-continuous
rotation and experimentation in their taprooms, moving away from
year-round flagship brews. Innovative design and graphics flourish
throughout the region with brewery t-shirts replacing rock n roll
shirts, and beer labels destined for the walls of fine art institutions,
such as the newly renovated SFMOMA.
This February, let the regions leading craft beer sherpa, SF Beer
Week, guide you through ten days of craft beer discovery. More than a
weeks worth of compelling experiences will be waiting for you,
thanks to a craft beer community devoted to innovation,
experimentation and never sitting still.

Candlelight Inn Napa Valley
A Romantic Rendezvous for Your Sweetheart and You
A first encounter with the Candlelight Inn is a bit like love at first sight! As you approach the
beautifully maintained and landscaped Tudor Mansion built as a residence in 1929 it appears to
straddle Easum Drive, a modest residential area. The street not far from Napas Town Center ends
as you park in the welcoming front courtyard. Right here, in the bustling epicenter of everything that
makes the wine country so desirable, the luxurious ten-room inn sits on its own private, one-acre, secluded park. It is bordered by Napa Creek and nestled beneath towering redwoods. Here, a spacious
pool/cabana is surrounded by meticulously landscaped flowering shrubs, bushes and rock gardens.
Noticeable sounds are birds and rustling leaves.
Originally designed for an active familys enjoyment, Candlelight Inn is now a private retreat for
discriminating visitors to the wine country. Many guests, who were smitten by that first impression,
now return year after year to relax and renew their enjoyment of all the region offers. On each visit,
there is more to do. In recent years, Napa has become a hub for worldrenowned chefs, and each year brings more restaurant openings. At the
inn, guests can enjoy complimentary wine and hors doeuvres as well as
snacks and drinks at all hours. A three-course breakfast featuring local
and seasonal foods is served each morning. Most rooms have a deck or
balcony, a two-person marble Jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. All have air
conditioning, TV, telephone and wireless internet access. Each is unique
and tastefully designed. An on-site concierge provides personalized dining and wine country touring recommendations. The concierge also
helps guide you to the numerous attractions of wine country hiking
and bicycling, kayaking, bird watching, cultural attractions, balloon rides
and spa services. The inn has received numerous awards and been featured in USA Weekend and National Geographic Traveler.
The Candlelight Inn is located at 1045 Easum Drive, Napa.

for acclaimed Mendocino County wines, exquisite destinations and
one-of-a-kind gifts, all to help establish a Health & Wellness Program
at Mendocino Coast Clinics.

If you plan to take wine home with you, either in the car or on
a plane, buy a cardboard box with Styrofoam wine inserts. Fill it
during the day and this keeps wine from rolling around in the
trunk.
Check out the smaller wineries. It is a revelation.
Take notes on the wines you most enjoyed.
Take advantage of tours when the winery offers them, but keep
in mind that they take anywhere from 20 minutes to well over an
hour, so one a day is plenty.
Buy wines that you can only find at the winery. These often include smaller (375 ml) bottles of limited production ports or
dessert wines. Dont buy a wine you can get at a supermarket back
home.
Dont give too much thought to ratings and vintages. Its like
art: if you like it, its a good wine. It is as simple as that.
Remember that you dont have to do the driving. It takes no
more than a phone call to rent anything from a Town Car or restored Packard convertible to stretch limos and a 20-passenger bus.
All have drivers that will stow your wine for you and the local companies know the area. Tell the transportation company what you
have in mind and listen to their advice. They know the territory
and the people and personalities.
Know your limits. If you get close to it let others taste and you
can listen. It beats ending the day in a blur, and if need be calling
a taxi is cheaper than the alternative.
And if at a seated tasting, dont be afraid to leave a gratuity. Its
more than worth the five or ten dollars to get wisdom and wine
By Charles Neave
and a great time.
Do the Math
One of the questions most asked when it comes to wine is how much of this does it take to make that, and so on. We wont pretend that its simple, but here are some industry statistics that will give a pretty good
answer to that query. As with anything agricultural, of course, they are all based on countless variables when it comes to acre yields, but this is a good starting point. The rest of the information varies little if at all.
