World war one

World war one was a major war that happened during 20th century,
fought in Europe and around the world. Many powerful countries made
agreement to help each other to have a stronger militarism which is Serbia,
Russia, France, British, America against Austria- Hungary, Germany, and
Ottomans (Turkey). The spark of this war happened when the assassination
of the Austrian archduke, but there were also many other long-term causes
of this war. The causes of the World War one had been happening for a long
time, however without solving these issues; the war could not have been
avoided.
The first cause of the world war one was nationalism. Nationalism
means proud of your own country. The powerful countries wanted to be the
strongest and biggest countries. Germany is one of the best examples for
nationalism. According to document Unification of Germany, during 18 th
century, Germany was a small area that ruled as separate states called
Prussia. Otto von Bismarck was the leader of Prussia, he wanted to unite the
small countries together to become the stronger country, so he can be able
to colonize other country. In this time there were five main powerful
countries, which are France, Prussia, Russia, Austria Hungary, and British. At
first Prussia cooperated with Austria-Hungary attacked Denmark and they
won. After that Prussia attacked the Austria Hungary. In the other hand,
France worried that Prussia will became more powerful; France decided to

attack Prussia in 1870. This was a bad decision for France because all the
small kingdoms came to join and fight together with Prussia; this was the
birth of German nationalism. Germany was born and from their union in 1871
inside the palace of Versailles.
The second cause of the world war one was alliance. As you can see in
the document 1, an alliance is a relationship between two or more countries
that make the agreement together, to help each other when they need. Most
of the country they made an agreement together because they want to have
other countries to support them when they have to fight with other
countries. According to document 2a, in 1881, Austria- Hungary made an
alliance with Serbia but then the agreement has been decline because in
1908 Austria- Hungary had taken Bosnia away from Serbia and this cause
Serbia anger. Later, the assassination of the Austrian archduke happened,
they found out that Garrilo Princip assassin archduke, also Garrilo is Bosnia
nation, ethic Serbia. Austria- Hungarys people were very angry when they
knew this. After the assassination, Austria- Hungary threatens Serbia. As you
can see in document 2b, Russia assemble with Serbia, Germany assemble
with Austria- Hungary. This was the starting point of the war, later France
came to join with Russia because of alliance. According to document 10c
Europe 1914, Germany decided to invade France though Belgium but this
was wrong decision because Belgium had a treaty with British, this cause
British to join the war. From the information above show you that both side of
the war, they had strong alliance that came and joined together. This means

that if one of their sides declares the war they also have to fight with their
side too. So, it will be very hard to avoid the war if both of them have strong
armies that always support them.
The third cause of the world war one was imperialism. Imperialism
means the stronger countries take over the weaker country or colonies other
countries. The powerful countries want to colonies other countries because
they want to be the most powerful countries around the world. According to
document 1, in this time, British, French, and Germany were the strong and
powerful countries. British and France controlled huge amount of lands and
large area of Africa. France and British had competition about the colonies
land with Germany because Germany started to colonies the small area of
Africa. As you can see in the Doc 10 D Empire 1914, the map shows the
powerful countries that colonized the weaker countries. Also you can see
that in this time British controlled about five continents around the world.
Imperialism causes the world war one because both sides wanted to take
other land and become the most powerful. They believed that if they can
own a lot of land no one will win or try to fight with them.
To conclusion, as you can see the causes of world war one
accumulated for a long time and it did not occur because of one problem, but
it occurs from a lot of causes. Those causes would have causes the war, but
the spark of this war takes place when the assassination of Archduke Franz.
This war happened because they both side were very strong and they
wanted to take over other countries land. Also they both side have a strong

conflict between each other, this cause them to fight until the last power
they have. From the three reasons above, I cannot see the way to solve
those problems because world war one causing from many problems and it
will be very hard to solve or avoid it. I also believe that if the war can be
avoid why people in the past do not avoid it.
