[3] CLASSES

[0200]

WARRIOR/KNIGHT

The Warrior is your most well-rounded character, with good stats and a little
below average magic. He's got great HP, Defense, and Attack. You don't learn
much magic at all, hence the low Magic Attack and Defense. As a Knight, you
can only learn some basic White Magic spells, and no more. Frankly, I think
you should always have one in your party, unless you're a real veteran at
this game and want a challenge.

MONK/MASTER

The Monk is the strongest character in the game, topping the Warrior's
attack. He has lower HP and Defense though, but his strength makes up for it.
He's best bare handed, which means that you shouldn't equip him with any
weapon at any time. It will just make him incredibly weak, making him
virtually useless. Monks also don't have any MP, which means that they can't
use any type of magic. A Master isn't a big step up from a Monk, just better
attributes. I recommend a Monk for new players.

THIEF/NINJA

Thieves are mast well known for their agility, and that's what they're really
only good attribute. Agility is their beat stat, and most is either average
or poor. He has low MP and Intelligence. His Attack, Defense, and HP is
pretty average. Once upgraded, a Ninja can use some low level Black Magic,
but I would use them for their speed, not magic. I think newbies should have
one in their party, but more experience players should replace them with
let's say, a mage of some sort.

BLACK MAGE/BLACK WIZARD

In my opinion, I think Black Mages are pretty useless. They have abysmal HP;
the lowest in the game, and every other stat except MP and Intelligence are
pretty low. They have superb magic and Intelligence and some spells that only
they can get, but it doesn't help. They'll end up getting killed easily.
Black Mages get better attributes once upgraded, but not enough to make them
exra useful. I think you should just use a Red Mage instead.

WHITE MAGE/WHITE WIZARD

White Mages are your healing party members, which is the most important
aspect of a team. Of course they have average or poor stata, but their MP and
incredibly useful and important White magic spells make up for it.
Their HP is stil! higher than the Black Mages, and their stats are somewhat
bad. White Wizards gain better spells and get stronger. Despite their average
stata, White Mages are needed nearly every time in a battle and should always
be in your party.

RED MAGE/RED WIZARD

What makes the Red Mage useful is that they are the only party member that
can learn both White and Black magic. Sure, they can't learn every spell that
White and Black Mages can, but they learn enough to make them a very
important character.
They can still use basic healing spells, like Life, Protect, and Curaga. They
can learn spells such as Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Firaga. They have a bit worse
MP and Intelligence than the mages, but outflank them in terms of HP, Attack,
and Defense. Red Wizards get stronger and can learn more spells as well. I
think Red Mages are an incredibly important character to have in your party.

[4] WALKTHROUGH

[0400]

RESCUING THE PRINCESS

[0401]

The game starts off with you in the World Map; right in front of a city. You
can walk around and fight monsters, but head inside the city first by walking
over it.
Once in the city, talk to the guy behind you. He will bring you to the King's
Castle where he asks for your party's help. He belives you are the prophesied
Warriors of Light, and he wants you to rescue his daugher, the princess. He
says that he will rebuild the northern bridge if you can rescue her from the
traitor Garland. Leave the castle once the conversation ends and explore.

CORNELIA

You start off with 500 Gil, so there's no need to hunt for money. I will
identify the shops and their symbols:

I recommend that you stop to the Black Magic Shop and if you have a Black/Red
Mage, then pick up Fire or Thunder. Pick up Cure and Sleep at the White Magic
Shop as well, because you really should have a White Mage in your party. You
can only choose to have three magic spells per magic level, so choose wisely.
Your magic level will increase throughout the game, letting you buy more
magic and buying magic of that certain level. You can pick up a Potion or two,
but nat much. You might want to buy Chain Mail for your Warrior or Red Mage
and a Rapier for mast of your party members. Once you're dane shopping, head
outside to the World Map.

Get a feel for the vicinity and try to level up by fighting monsters out
here. Stay clase to the city walls, because you can always go in the inn and
heal up if you're low on HP. Try to leve! up to around leve! 4. Once you're
that leve!, go north pasta cave on the mountainside. Don't worry about that
cave; you won't have to go there for a while. Keep heading north towards the
peninsula and enter the Chaos Shrine.

CHAOS SHRINE

Monsters: Crazy Herse, Gigas Worm, Goblin Guard, Lizard, Ogre, Scorpion,
Tarantula, Warg Wolf, Werewolf, Zombie
Items: Leather Cap, Rune Blade, Werebuster

From the entrance, go to the left and go down into the small room at the end
of the shrine. Open the chest inside for a Leather Cap. Give it to one of
your weaker party members. Go north and enter the room to find a Tent and a
Potion inside the chests. Go back to the entrance of the shrine and head
north into the center of the room. Talk to the man surrounded by bats to
engage in your firat boss battle!

"I, Garland, will knock you all down!"

Ah, my favorite boss. Hey, he's the founder of the greatest FFl
catchphrase, what's not to like? For a firat boss, Garland is very
easy, that is, if you leveled up. I was leve! 4 when I fought him and I
did just fine. His attacks deal a somewhat large amount of damage, so
have your Mage (you have a Mage in your party, right?) use Cure if your
members' HP is getting low. Physical attacks are what you should mainly
use against Garland.
Attack physically with your strong characters and if you have a Black
or Red Mage, use Fire or Thunder. If you don't have any spells, I
suggest going back to Cornelia and getting some. If your MP is low,
save it if your party is low on health. Just keep hacking away and the
big guy will soon fall.

Once Garland is dead, the princess will thank you. She will ask you to
return with her to Cornelia Castle, where you will be rewarded. Back at the

castle, the king thanks you early and repays you by fixing the northern
bridge so you can access new territory. Once you are about to leave, the
Princess stops you and gives you the Lute. Exit the castle and stock up on
any iterns or accessories in Cornelia.

THE EARTH CRYSTAL

Stay near
bridge to
bend, and
entrance.

[0402]

Cornelia until you're about Level 5 or so, then go across the

new land. Go north past the rnountains and hang a left around the
keep going north. You will find a srnall path of rocks with a cave
Go inside and enter Matoya's Cave.

MATOYA'S CAVE

Stop inside and talk to the old hag. She'll mumble on about her Crystal Eye.
You can't do anything now here, so just pick up the Potion and Antidote from
the chests and talk to the broorns. They will tell you to access the rnap;
press Circle and Select at the same tirne to bring up the world rnap. It's very
useful.

From Matoya's Cave, go back south near the bridge again but go east this
tirne. You'll be travelling quite a long way until you reach Pravoka. There
are some even deadlier rnonsters here, so keep your guard up. If you are
seriously injured, either make a risky dash for Pravoka or turn back and make
a stop at Cornelia. You will reach Pravoka past a srnall forest.

PRAVOKA

Pravoka is a port town with new shops where you can buy stronger weapons,
armor, and spells. It's very pricey here, so don't go all out with the spells
and acessories.

These guys are pathetically easy. I don't even know why I'm considering
them bosses. You'll probably be able to take them out with one shot.
Have your Mage cast Sleep to put mast of them, if not al! of them, so
sleep. Just pick them off one by one. If you have trouble with these
guys, then I doubt you should be playing RPG's. >_>

After the fight, the captain, Bikke, will give you his pirate ship as an
apology for his rudeness and wrongdoing. Now you have a ship, which rnakes
travelling much easier. You can deck your ship on the white ports found al!
over the World Map. Stay at the Inn if needed and leave town.

Directly south from Pravoka is a port wher you can dock your ship. Walk up to
the water to access your boat. The controls are the same as walking. Steer
your ship west and south. You can access another port near Cornelia if you
need to make a stop there. If not, go south from Cornelia port to find
another one. Deck your ship and walk south the the Elven Village, Elfheim.

ELFHE IM

Elfheim is an Elven Village with a castle to the north of it. You can
purchase both leve! 3 and 4 magic spells in this town, but you probably can't
afford any leve! 4 spells.

Train outside of the village until you're about level 10 or 11. Remember to
purchase Real and Thundara. If you want to upgrade your armar, do so as well.
The items here cost a lot, so you should gain Gil from defeating monsters
outside. Leave town and head for the castle.

Travel west from Elfheim around the mountains, then go north through the
large forest. Navigate around the two rivers and you will reach Western Keep.

WESTERN KEEP

Monsters: None
Items: Falchion, Power Staff, Steel Gloves

The keep is abandoned except for one persan. Head through the entrance and go
left, then up into the main quarters. Talk to the man to find out that he's
the king. He will tel! you that a dark elf, Astos, decieved him and stele his
crown. The king asks you to return it to him by going to Marsh Cave so he can
restare glory to the castle. You can't accesa the locked doar with the items
in it, so ignore them for now.

Return to Elfheim to prepare for your journey. Leve! up around the town and
gain more Gil to purchase more useful spells and items. Make sure to pick up
Fira and Diara, which prove to be quite useful in Marsh Cave. Stock up on many
Antidotes and Tenta, then head out to marsh Cave.

Go west past the mountains. Head up past the forest and before the first
river, go west through the mountains. Go shouth past the rocks and at the
very tip of the land is Marsh Cave.

MARSH CAVE

Monsters: Anaconda, Black Widow, Bloodbones, Crawler, Gargoyle, Ghoul, Gray

Oaze, Green Slime, Scorpion, Shadow, Skeleton, Tarantula, Warg
Wolf, Werewolf, Zombie
Items: Gil, Antidote, Broadsword, Copper Armlet, Cottage, Crown, Dagger,
Phoenix Down, Silver Armlet

NOTE: Identical items can only be obtained once. For example, if you find a
Phoenix Down in a chest, all of the other Phoenix Downs will disappear
lF
The Marsh Cave is your firat real big dungeon. I recommend that you should be
at least level 11 before you hang out in this place, so level up outside if
you're not that level. Watch out for the slimes. Most of the slimes you
encounter here are immune to physical attacks, so whip aut the magic spells.
Green Slirnes and Scorpions can poison you; that's why I told you to buy lots
of Antidotes. Firat off, go east and north from the exit. Walk down the
narrow, winding path. You will reach an exit at the end of the pathway.
2F

On the next floor, go north and east towards the door. Go inside and pick up
the Dagger from the chest. Exit the room and go west past the rock pillars
and into the next room. Pick up the Gil frorn the chest, exit the roorn, and go
south around the stane pillars into the next roorn. You will find a Broadsword
and more Gil. Equip the Broadsword if it gives an attack boost to any of your
party members, then leave the floor through the entrance.
lF
Back in the first floor, go back to the entrance. This time, head south, and
keep going south past the fork in the road. Go past the room and go through
the door on the eastern side. You will find another ladder leading to the
basernent. Go down the ladder to the last floor.
3F
The basernent is a giant floor filled with small roorns which all hold chests.
The four bottom rooms are locked and cannot be opened yet, so ignore them.
From the ladder, go douth and into the first room to find a Phoenix Down. Go
east to the last room and pick up the Gil inside. Head south to the next row
of rooms and go west into the third room. Get the Cottage inside, then on the
next room is a Copper Armlet. It's very useful, so have someone equip it.
Proceed south frorn that roorn past the pillars. The first room is empty, but
the room to the right of it is where the crown is. Go inside, but when you
try to open the chest, you are ambushed. Boss time!

GIL: 300

EXP: 276

Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: Fire, Stone, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Ice, Paralysis,
Darkness, Silence, Mind
See, this battle is kind of strange. The reason is because you'll fight
a random amount of Piscodemons. It could be two; it could be seven.
It's totally randomized. They have a pretty high attack, so watch out
for that. Use Protect to help reduce the damage if you have the spell.
Their health is pretty low, so I suggest using physical attacks and
have your Red/Black Mage use Thundara to wipe them out quickly. They
shouldn't give you too much trouble, but the difficulty of this battle
will be harder with more Piscodemons to fight. You will also fight
these guys if you try to open a treasure chest in the locked rooms
which you can accesa later in the game.

Once the Piscodemons are defeated, open the chest to find the Crown. Now you
can return to Western Keep and present it to the king. Exit Marsh Cave the
same way you came in, and pick up any items that you rnissed or intentionally

passed by. Exit to the World Map.

Return to Elfheim and heal up, then go back to Western Keep.

WESTERN KEEP

Monsters: None
Items: Falchion, Power Staff, Steel Gloves

You stil! can't open the locked door, but you will soon. Head into the main
quarters again and talk to the king. You give him the crown, and he starta
laughing rnaniacally. That doesn't sound like a king, does it? Nope; it's a
trap! (had to do it) The king reveals hirnself as the king of the dark Elves,
Astos himself. It was all a trick. You fell for his plan, and now since Astos
has the Crown, he can rule over the elves with an iron fist! Not if we have
anything to say about it.

Well, another surprisingly easy boss. Astos has quite a bit of HP, but
his attack is low. I was level 14 when I fought hirn, and I had little
trouble. He has a spell called Death, which kills one of your party
mernbers instantly. That's nat a good thing; so make sure you have seme
Phoenix Downs with you. Temper really helps in this battle, because he
has such a high amount of Magic Defense, offensive spells aren't very
useful in this battle. Have your Mage cast Ternper an the character with
the highest attack, and use physical attacks all the way. Have your
White Mage cure a lot, and Astos will go down over time. You get a
joyous amount of Gil and EXP for beating the king of the Dark Elves.

You will recieve nat only a nice sword, but a Crystal Eye from Astos. Equip
the Mythril Sword to your Warrior and exit the keep once Astos is killed.

Return to your boat, which should stil! be at the post near Elfheim. Head
back to the Pravoka port, then travel west all the way back to Matoya's Cave.

MATOYA'S CAVE

Remernber that Crystal Eye that you got from Astos? Talk to Matoya to give it
to her so she can properly see. In return for her eyesight, she will give you
the Jolt Tonic, a very powerful potion. Exit the cave.

Go back to your beat and head back to Elfheim.

ELFHEIM CASTLE

Monsters: None
Items: Gil, Bronze Gloves, Mythril Hammer

Go past the pillars in the courtyard and make the second left once past the
stairs. Go up to enter the prince's room. Give him the Jolt Tonic to revive
him from a five-year sleep. He will repay you by giving you the Mystic Key.
Now you can unlock all those locked doors in pretty much every dungeon you've
been to. Exit the room and go south through the doorway. Walk down the stairs
to the grass. Go north around the castle walls, then go east until you reach
a small room. Go south to find the locked doar. Open it to find 1500 Gil and
two accessories. Equip the Mythril Hammer to your White Mage and Bronze Gloves
to whomever. Exit the castle.

Proceed to Western Keep to get some more goodies.

WESTERN KEEP

Monsters: None
Items: Falchion, Power Staff, Steel Gloves

Go north from the entrance between the row of pillars and west around the
keep. Head south to find a locked door. Open it to get more weapons and
armar. Equip a mage with the Power Staff and a Warrior or Thief with the
Falchion. Give anyone the Steel Gloves. Exit the keep once you've looted the
place.

Proceed south to Marsh Cave.

MARSH CAVE

Monsters: Anaconda, Black Widow, Bloodbones, Crawler, Gargoyle, Ghoul, Gray

Oaze, Green Slime, Scorpion, Shadow, Skeleton, Tarantula, Warg
Wolf, Werewolf, Zombie
Items: Gil, Antidote, Broadsword, Copper Armlet, Cottage, Crown, Dagger,
Phoenix Down, Silver Armlet

Go south from the entrance and into the room to find the ladder leading to
the basement. Once in the basement, go to the southern rooms. Open them and
fight the Piscodemons guarding the chests. They should be a lot easier
considering you've leveled up a couple times since your first encounter with
them. You can find a Silver Armlet, an Antidote, and 1020 Gil in the three
locked rooms. Equip the armar and exit the cave.

Head to the port and steer your beat to Cornelia.

CORNELIA CASTLE

Monsters: None
Items: Cottage, Iran Armor, Mythril Knife, Nitro Powder, Saber, Tent

Make the first right when you enter the castle to take a path all the way
around the castle. Go north to the end of the castle and west. Go into the
room where you can find two locked doors. They all contain useful items,
weapons, and armor. The Nitro Powder is needed a little later in the game,
and the accessories can be equipped if you don't have any better ones on you.
Leave once you got the goods.

Proceed north up to Chaos Shrine.

CHAOS SHRINE

Monsters: Crazy Horse, Gigas Worm, Goblin Guard, Lizard, Ogre, Scorpion,
Tarantula, Warg Wolf, Werewolf, Zombie
Items: Gold Needle, Rune Blade, Werebuster

Go right this time to find two locked rooms. When you try to enter, you will
be attacked by Gargoyles. They're pretty tough and can petrify you, so watch
out for that. Once you defeat them, collect the Rune Blade inside. Go north
to find another locked doar. Take out the Gargoyles and collect the Gold
Needle and Werebuster inside.
You should really equip these weapons because they're a little different. The
Werebuster deals more damage to werewolf type enemies, and the Rune Blade
deals more damage to spellcasters. They can be useful if you switch out
weapons for these ones when you get in a battle with those two types of
enemies. You can now leave the shrine.

Phew! That was a lot of backtracking, but it was worth it. Go back to your
boat and sail west past Cornelia and dock on the northern port past the town.
Go southwest and explore the mountainside, train, and finally you will come
to a small hale.

MT. DUERGAR

Monsters: None
Items: Gil, Cottage, Ether, Great Helm, Mythril Mail, Potion, Tent,
Wyrmkiller

Mt. Duergar is home to a happy little gnome who is having a bit of trouble.
The gnome, Nerrick, has been trying to blow open a canal to the western
continent. Remember that Nitro Powder you gat from Cornelia Castle? Give it
to him, and with that explosive, he will be able to destroy the land and make
the canal. Explore the mountain and open the two locked doors to gain access
to some treaure vaults.
The northern room holds Gil and the southern one holds Gil, items, and

powerful armor and weapons. The Wyrmkiller deals extra damage to dragon-type
enemies. Once you have given Nerrick the Nitro Powder and collected all of
the items, leave Mt Duergar.

Now you have a lot more access to the world. Return to your ship and sail
through the canal by going southwest from the port. Ignore the whirlpool for
now; don't sail in it. Go past the island to find a port next to a town. Dock
your ship and enter the town.

MELMOND

Melmond is a pretty run down town with not many houses and shops. If you talk
to the townsfolk, they will talk about a mysterious vampire running amock at
night around the town. That doesn't scund good.

Definitely pick up Life and either Curaga or Healara. They are incredibly
useful because you don't want to have to waste Gil on Phoenix Downs or
Potions anymore. Stay at the Inn; you'll probably need to. You can pick up
the Longsword if you have enough Gil, but the Armor isn't that good. Exit the
village and head off to the site of the first crystal.

Go west out to two patches of mountains. From there, go south to a large

peninsula. Navigate around the mountain chains and you will find a srnall cave
in the mountainside. Enter to find yourself in the Cavern of Earth.

CAVERN OF EARTH

Monsters: Anaconda, Black Widow, Cobra, Cockatrice, Earth Elemental,

Gargoyle, Ghast, Goblin Guard, Hill Gigas, Hyenadon, Lizard,
Minotaur, Mummy, Ogre, Ogre Chief, Ogre Mage, Piscodemon, Sphinx,
Tarantula, Troll, Warg Wolf, Werewolf, Wight, Wraith
Items: Gil, Antidote, Coral Sword, Gold Needle, Leather Shield, Mythril
Shield, Potion, Sleeping Bag, Staff, Star Ruby, Tent x2

I never understood why there are so many enemies to encounter in these

dungeons. It's simply ridiculous.
lF

This is going to be a long journey to the bottom of the cavern. Hill Gigas
and Earth Elementals are the strongest monsters in this place. Cockatrices
are alsa found here in large packs, and have a tendancy to petrify you.
Hopefully you have Gold Needles. If not, then I recommend going back to town
and getting some. Go north from the entrance around the corner to find a
small room. Go inside and get 1975 Gil. Nice! Return to the entrance and try
to stay away from the western side. There's this weird glitch (?) where every
step you take is a random encounter.
Go east from the entrance and go south when you get past that rock on the
side. Go south and you will find a room with 795 Gil and an Antidote on the
right side and 800 Gil and a Potion on the left side. Collect the stashes and
go north back near the entrance. Keep going east once you reach the top, then
go south and east to reach stairs.
2F

Go south frorn the entrance through the stone opening and all the way down to
the bottorn. Go east past an upside-down U structura. Go up once you reach a
wall, then east again. Go up one more time, then go east to find two rocks on
both sides of the wall. That will be a landrnark point from now on. Go east
past those two rocks, then up once you reach a wall. If you go east again you
will find two more rocks similar to the landrnark point. Go up into the roorn
to find a Coral Sword, 330 Gil, and a Tent. Give your Thief (if you have one)
the Coral Sword, then return to the landrnark point.
From the first two rocks, go south all the way down to the bottom of the
cavern. Go west into the roorn where you can find 5575 Gil and a Leather
Shield. Psh, the shield is useless, but that's a lot of Gil! Return to the
landrnark point. Go east, but this time go south once you reach the wall. Go
east, then north again to find another staircase.
3F
Phew! On to the third floor. Go east to reach a doar. Go inside the roorn and
get the Sleeping Bag. Go west from the room, then north once on the left side
of the Z-shaped rock. Go west a bit, then north all the way to the top of the
floor. Go east from there and south once you see the first path. Once you
can't go any further, head east to go through a doar. There's a nice Gold
Needle which will probably se useful in the chest. Go north back to where you
were and this time go west. You'll find a door.
Go north inside to find 3400 Gil. Go back outside and head west. Go south at
the wall and west again. Go south and you will pass through three rock
pathways. Don't bother going through the fourth; it leads to a dead end. Go
east after the third one to find a door. Go inside to pick up 1020 Gil. Go
back outside and head down. From there, go east one more time to end up
outside of a room. Go through the doar to come face to face with the Vampire!

I consider this guy a sub-boss, kinda. Vampire is very strong, so his

Lich is harder than any of the bosses you've faced before. Much harder.
He has high attack; lower than Vampire's, but it's still high. You
won't be dealing much damage to him with his high defense and all, so
this battle will take a while. Lich alsa uses Haste, because his speed
is his lowest attribute. That's a pain. His spells, such as Blizzara,
deal over 100 damage to your whole party! That's a lot of HP down the
drain, so use some Potions, as well as Healara and Curaga.
Raise your attack with Temper and use Protect to deal the damage dealt
to you. Fira and Firaga really help here, as well as Diara. If you run
out of MP, use Ethers if you have any. Don't be surprised if your party
members die a lot, so make sure you have enough Phoenix Downs if your
White Mage is out of MP to use Life or is dead. Just use strong spells
that Lich is weak against and have your big guys use Tempered-up
physical attacks. It will take a bit of time, but the Lich will fall if
you keep a powered-up assault on him.

You recieve the Earth Crystal once the guardian Lich ia defeated. Step into
the teleporter to return to the World Map. One down, three to go!

THE FIRE CRYSTAL

[0403]

Phew! Now since you're finally out of that dang dungeon, let's head to the
next crystal. Return to the port right outside of Melmond and sail your ship
south. Sail all they way down to Marsh Cave, then head east. If you want to,
you can stop at the Elfheim port and stock up on any Leve! 4 Magic Spells or
items. If not, then due east past Elfheim.
Once you sail past a large desert, start going northeast to find another
port. Beware though, because the enemies here are a lot tougher than the
previous monsters. I recommend going west through the forest and around the

moon-shaped lake. Here you will find a town called Crescent Lake. Train right
next to the town, and if your HP is low, then make a quick dash into the town
and stay at the Inn. Once you're around leve! 23 or so, then head into town.

This area is basically a giant volcano, filled to the brim with lava and
all nasty stuff like that. The fact that you cannot encounter enernies on lava
tiles doesn't mean you should tread all over thern. The tiles covered in lava
will damage you each time you step on them, so avoid 'ern as much as possible.
lF
The firat floor is pretty small, but the center is filled with lava. You'll
have to step through numerous lava tiles, but try to shorten your trip across
to minimize damage taken. Go north from the stairs and around the bend.
Proceed west, across the lava, then into the staircase north of your
location.
2F
The second floor is the first area in Mt. Gulg where a large option is in
your path. Several areas in this dungeon give you two options: take the easy
road to the next floor and miss out on many valuable items and equiprnent, or
take the long road to get all of the goodies. Of ceruse, I will be guiding
you through the longer route. If you don't want any of the items, then simply
go west across the lava to the next staircase.
If you want the items, then go through the doorway next to the floor
entrance. Go north until you reach the first intersection, then move west
towards the firat chest. Open it to get a Mythril Helm. Continue south
through the tunnels until you reach another chest containing 1520 Gil,
situated at a dead end.
Return to the treasure chest where you found the Mythril Helm. Go back to the
intersection and walk north this tirne. Once you reach another fork in the
road that splits to the right and left, take the left path. Follow the
passage until you reach a dead end with a chest at the end. Open i t for a
Great Sword and return to the fork.
Go right this time as you make your way down the winding passage. Along the
way is a chest containing 4150 Gil. Head north, then west. When you reach
another intersection, pasa it and go south at the next intersection
imrnediately past the first. You will reach two chests at the end of the
passage, both containing 750 Gil.
Continue south and pass by the first intersection. Once you reach the wall,
proceed east to a large chamber with a plethora of chests. Open them to
obtain *takes deep breath* 1520 Gil, 1760 Gil, Mythril Gloves, Mythril Helm,
1455 Gil, Hi-Potion, Tent, 1975 Gil, Antidote, Phoenix Down, Mythril Axe, and
a Mythril Shield. Oh my! Equip all of that new equipment to your party
members and return to the entrance to the floor. Now you can continue east
across the lava to the staircase. Go through to accese the next floor.
3F
There are no treasure chests on this floor. Instead of having multiple spaces
filled with lava, many of the tiles on the floor are checkered with lava.
Navigate east towards the staircase, stepping on the least amount of lava
tiles as you can. Once you reach the stairs, descend them to the next floor
of the volcano.

4F
Nearly every tile on this floor is covered in lava. Luckily, there are a few

safe spots here, found in the form of giant rock structures. From the
entrance, run south towards dry land. Walk around the wall, then go south to
the next rock structura directly below. From there, move east towards another
rock. The staircase is to the right of the rock; run over to it to head to
the next floor.
5F
Head south from the entrance of the floor across the lava. You will reach a
large rock. From the rock, go west onto dry land. Walk over to the next rock
to the left, then proceed south over the lava tiles. Walk across more dry
land, then once you step on the lava, head west across the lava. Keep moving
west and you will come to another staircase.
6F

This next floor has a lot of treasures to get. Walk through the doorway from
the start and open both chests inside: they contain a Gold Needle and 2750
Gil. Exit and head west, then south. At the intersection, stick to the
western side and enter the first doorway that you come to. Go inside and open
the chest for 1750 Gil.
Leave the room and follow the path north, then west. Enter the doorway once
you reach the dead end. Open all of the treasure chests inside for 880 Gil,
Antidote, 7340 Gil, Flame Shield, and an Ice Brand. Once you have all of
that, return to the intersection. From there, proceed south. Move east at the
wall and go through the doorway right in front of the fork. The two chests
contain 10 Gil and 155 Gil. Exit to the fork and move north. You will come to
another doorway at the end of the path. The chests contain a Cottage and 2000
Gil.
Exit the room and return to the previous fork. Continue south down the path
this time, moving east at the wall. Enter the doorway leading to the final
room. You must fight an enemy to obtain the item in these two chests. The
battle is easy, and you will get a Staff and 1250 Gil after the battle.
Pretty useless stuff, but it won't hurt to get thern. Exit the room and go
southwest towards the staircase.
7F
If you got all of the items during the trip through Mt. Gulg, then you only
need to make one stop on this floor before the boss. Go west across the lava
until you reach a room. Go on inside and open the chest for Flame Mail.
Return to the entrance to the floor and move southwest. Follow the path until
you reach the final room of the dungeon. Heal and prepare for the worst,
because you will encounter the guardian of the Fire crystal in the room
beyond, Marilith. Are you ready?

Surprisingly, there aren't any other bosses between the two guardians.
Marilith is pretty tough, but easier than Lich. She is vulnerable to
many status affecting spells, such as Sleep, Silence, Confusion,
Paralysis, etc. Use a couple of these spells on her until they hit, and
have a Mage cast Haste on your individual party members.
Stangely enough, Marilith isn't weak to Ice. She has a high Magic
Defense, so Black Magic doesn't really help that much in this battle.
Then again, if she's asleep or paralyzed, just hit her with physical
attacks. Her spells deal a lot of damage to your party, so also try

I casting Silence or NulBlaze to decrease the effects. Once Marilith is

THE WATER CRYSTAL

[0404]

I recommend returning to Crescent Lake to heal and stock up on more supplies.

The more the better. Your next destination is the Cavern of Ice, which is
also found in the maze of rivers. From Crescent Lake, return to your boat at

Now you're on the other side of the same floor. Walk around the outer edge of
the room and make your way to the south end. Go through the doorway and enter
the roorn. There are severa! cracks in the ground. Avoid them for now and open
two chests in the room for Clothes and a Flame Sword. After collecting the
treasures, step on one of the cracked tiles to drop to the lower leve! of the

The dark-colored tiles with the ice crystals will darnage you every time you

you want some armar, then walk weat acroaa the cryatals. Enter the room to
collect the Ice Armor and Mythril Gloves. Before obtaining thern, you will
have to fight a battle with White Dragona. They're pretty atrong and their
Ice Storm attack is deadly. Once they are dead, nab the armor and equip it.
Return to the entrance to the floor and head south. Walk anto the crystala
and go right at the fork. Continue south until you reach another fork. Go

left down the narrow passage. Follow it to another room. Enter and collect
the crapload of Gil in each of the treasure chests. What a nice treat. Return
to the fork and head right this time. Follow the path to the staircase.
lF
Exit the room and walk around it to find a chest on the other side. Open it
for an Ether and exit through the doorway. Go south to find another doorway;
go inside and open the chest for 10000 Gil! Now, head east and walk south
down the wall. Enter the room and avoid the crack as you proceed towards the
treasure chests. Open them for an Ice Shield, Sleeping Bag, and 9500 Gil. Now
step on the cracked tile to fall to a lower floor.
3F
Walk over to the larga diamond and as you step next to it, a random battle
will occur! Oh no!!

BOSS: Evil Eye

HP: 162

M DEF: 92

Now, I don't understand why this game must have so many easy bosses. I
mean, what the heck? I killed this guy in 3 hits, and I fought him
BEFORE Marilith. I mean, all of his state are terrible, but he does
give more Gil and EXP than the other boss battles, so I can't complain
that much. Just use physical attacks against Evil Eye, and you should
kill him before he puts a finger on you (he doesn't have any fingers,
but you get the point). You won't get anything after the battle.

After that pathetic display, grab the diamond to obtain the Levistone. Drop
down through the cracked floor again and make your way to the first floor.
Instead of going south and into the room (that leads to the cracked tile,
which you drop down to encounter Evil Eye), go north to find a staircase.
Enter them to leave the dungeon.

Get back on your canoe and return to your beat. Sail down to the southern
dock and stock up at Crescent Lake. From Crescent Lake, enter the small river
that leads to Mt. Gulg and swim south. You will reach a small peninsula with
a large desert in the center. Make your way to the middle of the desert.

RYUKAHN DESERT

As you approach the sandy dunes of the desert, a large rumbling will occur
and a large ship will rise from the ground. This is the airship, your new
"toy". With the Levistone in hand, you can now pilot the airship.
When flying, you will go a lot faster than normal means of travelling, and
there are no random encounters. You can only land the airship on green grass.
You cannot land it on dark green grass, forests, mountains, buildings, or
water. Sometimes this means that in order to reach an area, you must land far
away, then walk to the destination. Oh well.

Fly north across the continent until you reach another continent. Once at the

large desert, move west and you should reach a small peninsula. This is your
next destination, but first we must part our airship. From the peninsula, fly
north to find yet another peninsula. Land on the grass on the very tip of it.
Walk east, then move southwest to the Citadel of Trials.

CITADEL OF TRIALS

Monsters: Clay Golem, Horned Devil, King Mummy, Medusa, Mindflayer, Minotaur
Zombie, Mummy, Nightmare, Rakshasa
Items: Gil, Cottage, Gauntlets, Healing Staff, Ice Brand, Rat's Tail, Ruby
Armlet, Steel Gloves

lF
Walk to the center of the citadel, then proceed northwest to the small room.
Go inside and sit an the throne to teleport to the next level.
2F
The next f loor consists of many warp tiles that transport you to dif f erent
parts of the floor. Step on the first warp to teleport in the room right
above you. Step an that tile to transport to the room to the left. There are
two warp tiles here; step on the bottom one. There's only one tile in this
next room; step on it.
In the next room, step on the bottom tile to be transported into a hallway.
Walk south to the warp and go through. In this next room, step in the warp
tile to the right. This next area is a bit larger, leaving a bigger area to
explore. Make your way to the right side of the area. Enter the doorway and
approach the chest. You must defeat a couple Clay Golems first, but you will
get the Gauntlets.
The Gauntlets are an interesting weapon. They may seem like normal gloves,
but when you select them from the item menu in battle, you will cast Bolt.
You can't use them for now, so stow them away for later. Exit the room and go
south past the warp point. There's another warp tile in the corner; ignore it
and keep going south. Enter the warp tile directly south to teleport to the
exit. Go through the staircase to reach the next floor.
3F
This floor is a lot more straightforward than the previous one. Walk north,
through the doorway, and open the chest right above you to get a Healing
Staff. Similar to the Gauntlets, when selected from the item menu, this
weapon will cast Real on your entire party. It can't be used now, so save it
for later.
Walk west down the hallway and open the chests at the end for Steel Gloves,
Ice Brand, and a Ruby Armlet. Equip these to any members if needed. Head
south and open the chests for 7340 Gil, 2455 Gil, and a Cottage. Continue
east down the hallway and open the chest for a Rat's Tail. Hooray? As you
step on the throne, you will be ambushed.

I Wait, is that what I think it is? *squints* Yep, another easy boss. It I
almost makes me sad how many easy bosses there are in this game. Just
like Evil Eye, you should kill these guys in one round. Just like the
Piscodemons earlier in the game, you fight a random amount of these
foes; usually two or three. The Dragon Zombies are strong, but they
will probably only hit you once. Don't even bother using Fire or Dia,
just use physical attacks. That's enough for the Dragon Zombies to bite
the dust. At least you get a Megalixer, as well as some Gil and EXP.

'-------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Once those guys have perished, step onto the throne to be transported to the
entrance of the citadel. Exit aut to the world map.

Return to your airship and fly west to the small patch of surrounding isles.
These are the Dragon Caves.

Many of the Dragon Caves are small rooms with treasures in them. Go from
island to island and loot them out. You can find severa! items, but most of
the caves are filled with Gil. One cave is nothing but a long hallway. Go
down the hallway and down the stairs. On the next floor, walk up to Bahamut,
King of the Dragons. Talk to him and by giving him the Rat's Tail, he will
upgrade your classes! Woo!
The class change is very beneficia! to your party. Warriors will become
Knights, and they will be able to learn low-level White magic spells (up to
leve! 3), such as Cure and Dia. You are alsa able to equip a wider variety of
weapons and armar.
Thiefs will become Ninjas. Ninjas can now learn low-level Black magic spells
(up to level 4), such as Fire and Thunder. They can also equip more weapons
and armar to Ninjas.
Your Wizards can now learn more powerful spells. I suggest returning to
Melmond and buying leve! 5 Black magic (preferrably Teleport) . Pick up the
Exit spell at Crescent Lake. If you have a Red Mage (now Red Wizard), he can
learn a lot more spells. Go back to various towns and have him learn Black

Return to the fork and go right this time. Enter the room and open the chest

the northwest corner of the room. Once you've pillaged the area, go south to

here. Open all of the chests for an Antidote, Diamond Shield, 9000 Gil, 1760

easily find the staircase in the upper corner of the area.

I hope you're not claustrophobic! Walk to the staircase four steps away from
you and head through.

This next room is a simple square. Navigate around either way to reach the
stairs, which are on the southeast corner of the room.

inside the room for 5450 Gil, 385 Gil, and Giant's Gloves.

selected in the item menu, you will cast Saber. Exit the room and go north
into the next one. Collect the Light Axe inside and exit, proceeding
northeast. Once you reach the final room, go inside and open the chests for a
Ribbon, 9900 Gil, 7340 Gil, and 2750 Gil. Exit and go north, then west to the

Kraken was pretty tough tao. I guess the only hard bosses in this game
are the guardians. He's weak to Lightning, obviously. Kraken is pretty
darn strong, so cast Protera on your party. If you gat the Giant's
Gloves earlier in the dungeon, this battle will be so much easier.
Before you enter the battle, equip i t to your strongest character. In
the battle, select 'Items' and presa up to accesa your equipment.
Select the Giant's Gloves, and you'll cast Saber on yourself, a spell
that raises your attack.
Have a Wizard cast Haste on the character with the Giant's Gloves on,
and have him use physical attacks against Kraken. You'll deal a lot of
damage with that character, so the difficulty of this battle is much
eaaier. Like all other enemies in this dungeon, Kraken has an intense
weakness against Lightning. Have your Wizard cast Thundaga on Kraken
and your strongest character attack, while your other party members
attack physically and heal. Kraken ahould go down shortly, giving you
the Kikuichimonji after the battle.

After gaining the Water crystal, step into the warp to teleport to the
entrance. From there, exit the dungeon as well as Onrac.

The Flying Fortress is your toughest dungeon yet, so heal and prepare yourself
now. You'll also meet your good friend, Evil Eye, here. Yay for good times.
lF
You will find yourself in a small room in the center of a large floor. Exit
and go south, around the walled room. Enter it to find a Razer in the chest.
Equip it to any party members and return to the center of the floor. Head
west this time and pillage the room to find 7900 Gil, 9900 Gil, 4150 Gil, and

Go to the right this time to find 180 Gil, 5000 Gil, 6720 Gil, Healing Helm,
and a Protect Ring in the room. Finally, go north from the center of the
floor and step on the warp tile.
2F

The last room was a four-way intersection, but this one is an eight-way
intersection. Yay for complexity! Walk southward to the center of the room.
Your first priority is to go southwest. Walk down the path and enter the
room. Collect the Adamantite from the chest. This is very important, so keep
it safe in your item bag. Return to the center and go west for 880 Gil and
13000 Gil in the room. Now go northwest from the center of the room. You will
find a Cottage and a Mythril Helm in the room.
The left side of the floor is finished, so go northeast this time. You'll
find a lone chest with Diamond Gloves inside. From the middle of the room, go
east. You will obtain a Diamond Shield and a Ribbon in the chests. Return to
the center of the room. Now go southeast and enter the room. Collect the
Black Robe and White Robe, and equip them to your Wizards; they're deathly
useful. Phew! Simply go south from the center of the room to make your exit.
3F
You will be transported to the middle of yet another huge floor. There is a
robot near the warp tile. Talk to him and he will tell you to look aut of the
window. Here, you can get a view of the whole world. It will teach you how
the faur elements meet at one point back on the earth. Use that as a clue as
to where your next destination may be. And plus, the view is nice. :)
Go north and follow the path to a doorway. Enter the room and open the chests
for a Potion, Protect Ring, 9000 Gil, and 5450 Gil. Continue south again and
once you reach the entrance, go east. Enter the room and open the treasure

chests to obtain a Gold Needle, 6400 Gil, 9500 Gil, 8135 Gil, a Protect
Cloak, and Clothes.
The southern end of the roorn is barren, so the only other way to go is west.
Make your way west from the starting point and go inside the room. Get the
Gold Needle, 4150 Gil, 3400 Gil, and Sasuke's Blade. Equip your new weapon
and return to the path. The teleporter is right next to the roorn, so step
through to teleport to the next floor.
4F
This floor is a never-ending cycle. There are numerous holes situated on the
floor. Here's the direction to take to reach the warp tile: north two holes
and west two holes. You should reach the warp tile; step on it once you do.
5F
This long corridor is home to not only the final guardian, but an imensely
powerful enemy narned Death Machine. You can only find hirn on this floor, and

Finally, after faur hours of searching, I have found and defeated Death
Machine. Yeah, you read right, I found him after 4 hours. Death Machine
isn't a boss; you randomly encounter him on the 5th floor of the Flying
Fortress. You have a 1 in 64 chance of finding him, and you only have a
mere 5% chance of getting Genji Arrnor from him. It's just that he's so
hard, that I gave him his own boss section. Now, rny strategy here will
be for people who encounter him earlier in the game. If you've gone
through the bonus dungeons and come back to find him, I doubt you won't
have trouble with him.
People who find him while going to fight Tiamat will have a tough time
with Death Machine. Death Machine is tougher than Tiamat, and he has a
lot of attack compared to other bosses you've faced. His defense is
high, so use strong spells to destroy him. He's not weak against
anything, so any high leve! spell will be fine. Take him out as quick
as possible, because if he uses his spell, Nuke, you'll probably be
finished. Nuke deals A LOT of damage to you, so use powered up physical
attacks and strong spells to finish him. Have a character heal nearly
every turn, and keep at him.

Anyways, if you have no intention of fighting that sucker, then ignore it

totally. Walk down the long hallway and heal up. At the end of the corridor
is the guardian of the Wind Crystal, Tiamat!

Tiamat is definitely the hardest of the guardians. He casts a mean

spell called Thunderbolt, but NulShock doesn't work against it. It's
not a spell like Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga, etc. Kinda weird, eh? Of
course, use Haste and Temper/Saber on your party members with the
strongest attack. He has a lot of attacks that damage your whole party,
so make sure to use Healra/Healaga if you have a White Whizard in your
party.
This battle is very tough, so i t ' l l take a while, and you might lose a
couple times. Have your weaker character and your Wizard pump up the
member with the strongest attack, and have him !ash out using physical
attacks against Tiamat. If you do so, you should deal 400-500 damage to
Tiamat with one hit. Magic spells don't hurt Tiamat that much, so don't
use them that much. Stick with physical attacks in this battle. With a
strategy like that, Tiamat will go down with some time.

After defeating the final guardian, step into the teleporter and get the hell
out of here! Woo! Beware, the journey isn't over just yet though ...

THE FINAL BATTLE

[0406]

To prepare for the final dungeon, it would be wise to obtain one of the mast
powerful weapons in the game. Fly over to Mt. Duergar immediately.

MT. DUERGAR

Talk to the Dwarf and he will be amazed at the Adamantite. In fact, he'll
take it and use it to make a new weapon! He will make your the rare, almighty
sword: Excalibur. Equip it to your Knight and exit the area.

To prepare for your final dungeon, I recommend stocking up on 99 Ethers, 99

Phoenix Downs, and 99 Hi-Potions. Buy any spells that you weren't able to in
the past, such as Holy, Flare, Full-Life, Curaja, Diaja, etc. I also suggest
tackling some of, if not al!, the bosses in the Soul of Chaos. They really
help give you loads of EXP and present you with nice items and equipment.
Once you fee! that you're ready, fly over to the Chaos Shrine.

CHAOS SHRINE

Monsters: Basilisk, Black Knight, Chimera, Clay Golem, Dark Fighter, Dark
Wizard, Death Eye, Dragon Zombie, Earth Elemental, Earth Medusa,
Fire Gigas, Fire Lizard, Green Dragon, Ice Gigas, Iran Golem, Lava
Worm, Purple Worm, Red Dragon, Rhyos, Sahagin Prince, Sea Scorpion,
Sea Snake, Sea Troll, Stane Golem, Vampire, Vampire Lord, Water
Elemental, White Dragon, White Shark, Winter Wolf
Items: Dry Ether, Elixer, Masamune, Megalixer, Protect Cloak, Protect
Ring, Sasuke's Blade

Look familiar? Walk to the center of the shrine and when you come in contact
with the Black Crystal, you will be transported 2,000 years in the past. Now
this place is known as the Temple of Chaos. Intriguing.
lF

From the center of the temple, exit the door and follow the pillars to reach
the outer edge of the floor. From here, head due east down the hallway. Enter
the staircase to reach the next floor.
2F

Enter the stairs right next to you. Two floors down!

3F
Walk due south down to the southern side of the room. Before entering the
corner, go east towards the middle of the floor. From there, head north into
the room. Essentially, you can just follow the pillars that lead to the room.
Go inside and open the two chests containing an Elixer and Dry Ether, then
enter the staircase.
2F

Exit the roorn and go south. You're simply going in the opposite direction
where you just went. After exiting the room, head west, then north to the
upper corner. Head directly into the staircase.
lF
You are back on the first floor again, but on the upper half. Enter the
hallway and continue west until you reach the next set of stairs. This is
easy!
4F
Walk north up the corridor, then follow it east. Once at the next corner, go
south to end up at the southeast corner of the roorn. When you try to enter
the staircase, you will be attacked by Lich. Blast from the past! Rock on! !

Lich is about as easy as when you fought him at the Cavern of Earth. If
you went to the bonus dungeons before this, you should have absolutely
no problem with the four upcorning bosses. Just use physical attacks if
you think you're strong enough, but if you haven't been to the bonus
dungeons, use forms of Dia and protect yourself from his deadly Flare
spell. Lich isn't hard either way, so take him out for good.

Enter the staircase to head to the next floor.

SF
Exit the roorn and go west towards the pillars. Go south and follow the path.
Squeeze inbetween the two colurnns and go south. There are two doorways
leading to treasure-filled paths. Remember this area. Take the right path.
You will find a Protect Cloak against the upper wall. Follow the passage east
to find a Megalixer in a small room.
Return to the doorway and take the left path this time. Grab the Protect Ring
from the chest against the upper wall and exit the doorway south of here.
Follow the passage and go inside the room. Open the chest for Sasuke's Blade.
Return to the doorway and go back north. Squeeze through the colurnns to the
right and go north. Enter the room (couldn't you tell that nearly the whole

room is symmetrical?) to fight Marilith.

You can take Marilith aut pretty quickly, but like Lich, you get barely
any Gil. That rnakes me a sad ninja. : (

After Marilith's demise, enter the staircase.

6F
Enter the nearby doorway and exit through the other one next to it. Walk

couple Hi-Potions. He'll keel over before you know it.

Finish up at the end of the hallway and go through the stairs.

7F
From the start of the floor, head due south, then east. At the fork, continue
south. Go east again, then south. When the path opens up, go east down a long
corridor. Follow it until you reach a small room. Go inside and open the

Excalibur. If you have a Ninja, give it to hirn to greatly increase his attack.

The only reason this battle is a lot easier than the rest is because
I'm assuming you got the Masamune in the same room. Masamune is one of,
if nat the strongest weapon in the game. Give it to your Ninja (or your
weakest character) and hack away. Tiamat does have strong spells, but
your new weapon and high level should pretty much negate the effects.

Hack away at Tiamat and he'll go down. You'll get a nice shiny Rune

Chaos was a tough boss, and I went to all of the bonus dungeons before.
He has a wide array of powerful spells that will deal 100-200 damage to
you. His physical attacks alsa deal a lot of damage. The fact that he
uses stat-raising spells like Curaja (heals himself for 9999 points)
and Haste doesn't help. He'll also use Slowra and Dispel an your
fighters, but they won't hit that often.
Power up a lot, and use Judgement Staff (if you have it) an Chaos to

weakest character. I attacked with my two strongest character, had a
weaker character use Rune Staff, and had my Wizard use some sort of
Black Magic or Curaga almost every turn, and I did fine. Use a bunch of
different high-powered spells such as Thundaga and Blizzaga to damage
Chaos, and have the brawns use pumped up physical attacks using the
Giants Gloves and Saber. It is a surprisingly tough battle, but Chaos
will be no more due to your awesome might.

Congratulations, you have beaten the game that started it all, Final Fantasy!
Enjoy the ending and watch the credita.

[5] SOUL OF CHAOS

[0500]

Soul of Chaos is a set of four secret dungeons only accessible in the Dawn of
Souls version of Final Fantasy. Each dungeon has many floors, home to four
bosses in each dungeon. The tricky part about the dungeons in Soul of Chaos
is that the floors are randomized, so there's no real way to provide a
walkthrough for the dungeons. Burnmer. Well, I will provide boss strategies,
and that's good enough since they're the only challenging part about the
dungeons. :)

This guy wasn't toc bad campared to the other bosses here. The 2-Headed
Dragon doesn't use many spells to harm you, but uses mostly physical
attacks. Since the foe has a high attack, will deal quite a bit of
damage to you with each physical attack that comes in contact.
Have your Mage use Protera on your party, and use Temper and Haste on
your other party members. Use mostly physical attakcs on him, because
magic attacks don't hurt him as much. 2-Headed Dragon was easier than
Cerberus, in fact this monster is the easiest out of the faur.

I cornpleted the extra dungeons after I got the fourth crystal, but to

spells, such as Thunderbolt, which will deal a lot of damage to your
party. I was around leve! 45, and it dealt almost 300 damage to my
whole party! Cerberus is surprisingly powerful.
Of course, casting spells like NulShock will help dwindle down the
darnage dealt to your party. Cast Protera, and use physical attacks and
spells. He does have a lot of health, but Cerberus's stats are low
compared to previous bosses. Real a lot with your Mages, and if anyone

Ahriman uses Earthquake a lot, and unfortunately for me, worked a lot.
It is a one-hit KO spell, and he uses it frequently. Ahriman has higher
HP than the rest of the gang in this dungeon, but his stats are pretty
fair, Once you get past the annoyance that is Earthquake, you shouldn't
have that hard of a time with him. Ahriman's other deadly attack is
Blaze, which will take out a chunk of HP from your whole party. This is
another spell that you need to watch aut for.
Ahriman isn't weak to any spell, so use physical attacks that are
powered up my your Mage. Using Temper and Haste is a deadly duo against

whore out the Earthquake spell (which hits a lot, just like the battle

use Life or Phoenix Downs constantly in this fight.
Echidna is not weak to anything and his attacks aren't too strong. You
don't even have to cast defensive spells like Protera this battle.
Physical attacks are your best bet offensively. Use the Giant's Gloves
to cast Saber on your fighters, then cast Haste to deal great damage.
Strength Tonic will help in clearing this monster out quickly. You will

His defense is somewhat low, and physical attacks will do the trick.
Use the Giant's Gloves to power yourself up, and use physical attacks

Atomos's Wormhole spell doesn't hit that much, and he doesn't have much

attacks that deal a lot of damage, so don't be surprised if you get
killed in two or three hits from one of his attacks. Earthquake rarely
hits, but he doesn't use it that often. Wave Cannon will deal a lot of
damage to your party, so heal often after Omega uses the attack. Use
Protera constantly in the battle if your allies keep dying (they will,
trust me).
If you have a White Mage, Heal spells work wonders. Omega has very
high defense, so physical attacks don't work that well at all. Use
Judgement Staff and Lightning based spells to take him out. If you
don't have a White Mage, have a member use Rune Staff almost every
turn. Have another mage use Curaga and strong magic to damage Omega. If
you want, you can cast stat-raising spells to power up stronger
fighters, but i t ' l l take a while to deal decent damage.
I took a couple rounds boosting them up, and it took a while until my

Shinryu was tough, but I beat him on my second try. This menacing foe

defense. Use pumped-up physical attacks by using Giant's Gloves, Haste,

characters, and then let him use black magic to take out Shinryu. If
you have weapons like Excalibur and Masamune, you will deal loads of
damage to Shinryu, so hack away. I had my Knight and Master attack him,
my Ninja healed everyone and used Rune Staff nearly every turn, and I
had my Mage use stat increasing spells and black magic.
The battle might take a while, but He isn't that bad. Shinryu's
physical attacks hurt your fighters a lot, but his spells like Tidal
Wave will probably deal 400 damage to your party. Use forms of Heal if
you have a White Wizard, but if not, have your weakest character use
Rune Staff constantly. He tends to use powerful spells when his health
is low, so it should give you some type of clue when he'll die or nat.
Once Shinryu is dead, you'll recieve Ragnarock, a sword even more

Orthros? More like Ultros!! Ha ha. In terms of the battle, I was

actually disappointed by Orthros. His stats are pretty low, and even
though his health is somewhat high, this guy can be taken out rather
quickly. He's weak to Fire and Lightning, so use those two spells
against Orthros to ensure maximum damage dealt to the octopus.
If you're high enough level, Ink probably won't even hit you. If you
are hit by Ink, simply cure it with Eye Drops. Orthros does pack a
punch, but as always, use Protera to negate that. use your strongest
attacks and spells that are strong against Orthros, and he won't be
much of a problem to your party.

BOSS: Phantom Train

HP: 9999

ACC: 50

DEF: 80
AGI: 30
INT: 40

EVA: o
M DEF: 180
GIL: o

Drop: Megalixer

Weakness: Fire, Dia

Resistance: Quake, Stone, Death, Time, Poison
Holy moly, look at his attack! Phantorn Train does have an obnoxiously
high attack, so keep your guard up. Cating Protera should be your first
priority. Have a Mage use Protera, and if you have him, have a Ninja
use Temper on himself or a Knight. Phantom Train uses Acid Rain most of
the time, which deals 300+ damage to your party. Nat good.
Here is my strategy: I had Ninja and Mage use Temper on my Knight. My
Mage used Haste on my Knight next turn, and my Knight was dealing at
least 1500 damage to Phantom Train (thank you Excalibur) . You can also
use Fire and Dia spells if you don't use my strategy, since those two
spells are Phantorn Train's main weaknesses. You'll need a lot of
Phoenix Downs and Ethers for this fight, but since Phantom Train has
pretty low HP and very high Attack, you'll either have a hard time
with him or breeze through him. You'll get a nice Megalixer afterwads.

BOSS: Death Gaze

HP: 30000
ATK: 90
ACC: 200

DEF: 150
AGI: 95
INT: 50

EVA: 30
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

Weakness: Fire, Dia

Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison,

EXP: O
Drop: Lightbringer

Ice, Stane, Death

Death Gaze was really tough, since he's the last boss of Whisperwind
Cove. Traveling through 40 levels must have been exhausting, so heal
before you fight him. He is a challenging fight, but easier than Omega
and Shinryu. Death Gaze uses Dispel a lot, so a character that you've
been powering up is hit by it, well, all your stat-raising spells are

negated. Death Gaze is powerful and uses a wide variety of spells to

put the pain on you.
Use Protera on your first turn, and have your weakest character use the
Judgement Staff, or if you don't have a White Wizard, use a Light Axe
on him. He has high defense, so I wouldn't reccomend physical attacks.
It takes a while for you to power up someone enough to deal a good
amount of damage, so just stick to spells. Use Firaga and Diaga on
Death Gaze, and if you want, you can use powered up physical attacks if
you have a Master or Knight in your party. Once Death Gaze is defeated,
you will be rewarded with the Lightbringer.

Assuming you completed the other three dungeons before this, then pat
yourself on the back: you're dane with Scul of Chaos!

Ah, my favorite boss. Hey, he's the founder of the greatest FFl
catchphrase, what's not to like? For a first boss, Garland is very
easy, that is, if you leveled up. I was level 4 when I fought him and I
did just fine. His attacks deal a somewhat large amount of damage, so
have your Mage (you have a Mage in your party, right?) use Cure if your
members' HP is getting low. Physical attacks are what you should rnainly
use against Garland.

These guys are pathetically easy. I don't even know why I'm considering
them bosses. You'll probably be able to take them out with one shot.
Have your Mage cast Sleep to put most of them, if not all of them, so
sleep. Just pick them off one by one. If you have trouble with these
guys, then I doubt you should be playing RPG's. >_>

See, this battle is kind of strange. The reason is because you'll fight
a random amount of Piscodemons. It could be two; it could be seven.
It's totally randomized. They have a pretty high attack, so watch aut
for that. Use Protect to help reduce the damage if you have the spell.
Their health is pretty low, so I suggest using physical attacks and
have your Red/Black Mage use Thundara to wipe them aut quickly. They
shouldn't give you too much trouble, but the difficulty of this battle
will be harder with more Piscodernons to fight. You will also fight
these guys if you try to open a treasure chest in the locked rooms
which you can access later in the game.

Well, another surprisingly easy boss. Astos has quite a bit of HP, but
his attack is low. I was level 14 when I fought hirn, and I had little
trouble. He has a spell called Death, which kills one of your party
members instantly. That's nat a good thing; so make sure you have seme
Phoenix Downs with you. Temper really helps in this battle, because he
has such a high amount of Magic Defense, offensive spells aren't very
useful in this battle. Have your Mage cast Temper on the character with
the highest attack, and use physical attacks all the way. Have your
White Mage cure a lot, and Astos will go down over time. You get a
joyous amount of Gil and EXP for beating the king of the Dark Elves.

I consider this guy a sub-boss, kinda. Vampire is very strong, so his
attacks will pack a lot of darnage. Vampire also regains health after
every turn, but nat much that it tends to be a problem. He has pretty
low HP, so he can be taken aut rather quickly. Have a Mage cast Temper
on a Warrior or Monk, and have him use Fira/Firaga. The White Mage can
use Diara to deal massive damage to Vampire. Your strong party members
can just use regular attacks. Have a White Mage use Life on fallen
comrades (you shouldn't have anyone die). The Vampire is not a
particularly hard boss, but you do recieve a lot of rewards. Yay!

Lich is harder than any of the bosses you've faced before. Much harder.
He has high attack; lower than Vampire's, but it's stil! high. You
won't be dealing much damage to him with his high defense and all, so
this battle will take a while. Lich also uses Haste, because his speed
is his lowest attribute. That's a pain. His spells, such as Blizzara,
deal over 100 damage to your whole party! That's a lot of HP down the
drain, so use seme Potions, as well as Healara and Curaga.
Raise your attack with Temper and use Protect to deal the damage dealt
to you. Fira and Firaga really help here, as well as Diara. If you run
aut of MP, use Ethers if you have any. Don't be surprised if your party
members die a lot, so make sure you have enough Phoenix Downs if your
White Mage is aut of MP to use Life or is dead. Just use strong spells
that Lich is weak against and have your big guys use Tempered-up
physical attacks. It will take a bit of time, but the Lich will fall if
you keep a powered-up assault an him.

Weakness: Paralysis, Sleep, Confusion, Darkness, Silence, Mind

Resistance: Fire, Stane, Lightning, Poison
Surprisingly, there aren't any other bosses between the two guardians.
Marilith is pretty tough, but easier than Lich. She is vulnerable to
many status affecting spells, such as Sleep, Silence, Confusion,
Paralysis, etc. Use a couple of these spells on her until they hit, and
have a Mage cast Haste an your individual party members.
Stangely enough, Marilith isn't weak to Ice. She has a high Magic
Defense, so Black Magic doesn't really help that much in this battle.
Then again, if she's asleep or paralyzed, just hit her with physical
attacks. Her spells deal a lot of damage to your party, so alsa try
casting Silence or NulBlaze to decrease the effects. Once Marilith is
defeated, you'll recieve a Golden Apple and the Fire Crystal.

Now, I don't understand why this game must have so many easy bosses. I
mean, what the heck? I killed this guy in 3 hits, and I fought hirn
BEFORE Marilith. I mean, all of his stats are terrible, but he does
give more Gil and EXP than the other boss battles, so I can't complain
that much. Just use physical attacks against Evil Eye, and you should
kill him before he puts a finger an you (he doesn't have any fingers,
but you get the point). You won't get anything after the battle.

Wait, is that what I think it is? *squints* Yep, another easy boss. It
almost makes me sad how many easy bosses there are in this game. Just
like Evil Eye, you should kill these guys in one round.

Resistance: Quake, Fire
Kraken was pretty tough too. I guess the only hard bosses in this game
are the guardians. He's weak to Lightning, obviously. Kraken is pretty
darn strong, so cast Protera on your party. If you gat the Giant's
Gloves earlier in the dungeon, this battle will be so much easier.
Before you enter the battle, equip it to your strongest character. In
the battle, select 'Items' and press up to access your equipment.
Select the Giant's Gloves, and you'll cast Saber on yourself, a spell
that raises your attack.
Have a Wizard cast Haste on the character with the Giant's Gloves on,
and have him use physical attacks against Kraken. You'll deal a lot of
damage with that character, so the difficulty of this battle is much
easier. Like all other enemies in this dungeon, Kraken has an intense
weakness against Lightning. Have your Wizard cast Thundaga on Kraken
and your strongest character attack, while your other party members
attack physically and heal. Kraken should go down shortly, giving you
the Kikuichimonji after the battle.

Finally, after four hours of searching, I have found and defeated Death
Machine. Yeah, you read right, I found him after 4 hours. Death Machine
isn't a boss; you randomly encounter him on the 5th floor of the Flying
Fortress. You have a 1 in 64 chance of finding him, and you only have a
mere 5% chance of getting Genji Armor from him. It's just that he's so
hard, that I gave him his own boss section. Now, my strategy here will
be for people who encounter him earlier in the game.
His defense is
high, so use strong apella to destroy him. He's not weak against
anything, so any high leve! spell will be fine. Take him aut as quick
as possible, because if he uses his spell, Nuke, you'll probably be
finished. Nuke deals A LOT of damage to you, so use powered up physical
attacks and strong spells to finish him. Have a character heal nearly
every turn, and keep at him.

Tiamat is definitely the hardest of the guardians. He casts a mean
spell called Thunderbolt, but NulShock doesn't work against it. It's
nat a spell like Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga, etc. Kinda weird, eh? Of
course, use Haste and Temper/Saber on your party members with the
strongest attack. He has a lot of attacks that damage your whole party,
so make sure to use Healra/Healaga if you have a White Whizard in your
party.
This battle is very tough, so i t ' l l take a while, and you might lese a
couple times. Have your weaker character and your Wizard pump up the
member with the strongest attack, and have him lash out using physical
attacks against Tiamat. If you do so, you should deal 400-500 damage to
Tiamat with one hit. Magic spells don't hurt Tiamat that much, so don't
use them that much. Stick with physical attacks in this battle. With a
strategy like that, Tiamat will go down with seme time.

Lich is about as easy as when you fought him at the Cavern of Earth. If
you went to the bonus dungeons before this, you should have absolutely
no problem with the four upcoming bosses. Just use physical attacks if
you think you're strong enough, but if you haven't been to the bonus
dungeons, use forms of Dia and protect yourself from his deadly Flare

if not the strongest weapon in the game. Give it to your Ninja (or your
weakest character) and hack away. Tiamat does have strong spells, but
your new weapon and high level should pretty much negate the effects.

you. His physical attacks also deal a lot of damage. The fact that he
uses stat-raising spells like Curaja (heals himself for 9999 points)
and Haste doesn't help. He'll also use Slowra and Dispel an your
fighters, but they won't hit that often.
Power up a lot, and use Judgement Staff (if you have it) an Chaos to
deal some damage. The Masamune will help a lot if you gave it to your
weakest character.

SOUL OF CHAOS BOSSES

BOSS: 2-Headed Dragon

HP: 4500
ATK: 60
ACC: 50

DEF: 50
AGI: 30
INT: 10

EVA: 30
M DEF: 50
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Bard's Tunic

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Lightning, Time, Paralysis, Darkness, Silence, Mind,
Fire, Ice, Stone, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Death
This guy wasn't tao bad compared to the other bosses here. The 2-Headed
Dragon doesn't use many spells to harm you, but uses mostly physical
attacks. Since the foe has a high attack, will deal quite a bit of
damage to you with each physical attack that comes in contact.
Have your Mage use Protera an your party, and use Temper and Haste an
your other party members. Use mostly physical attakcs on him, because
magic attacks don't hurt him as much. 2-Headed Dragon was easier than
Cerberus, in fact this monster is the easiest out of the four.

BOSS: Cerberus
HP: 4000
ATK: 40
ACC: 60

DEF: 50
AGI: 50
INT: 40

EVA: 50
M DEF: 60
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Kotetsu

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Lightning, Time, Paralysis, Darkness, Silence, Mind,
Fire, ice, Stone, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Death
I completed the extra dungeons after I gat the fourth crystal, but to
my surprise, the bosses were stil! hard. Cerberus casts a lot of
spells, such as Thunderbolt, which will deal a lot of damage to your
party. I was around level 45, and it dealt almost 300 damage to my
whole party! Cerberus is surprisingly powerful.
Of course, casting spells like NulShock will help dwindle down the
damage dealt to your party. Cast Protera, and use physical attacks and
spells. He does have a lot of health, but Cerberus's stats are low
compared to previous bosses. Real a lot with your Mages, and if anyone
dies, use Life or Phoenix Downs. Even though Cerberus is strong, the
fight shouldn't be too hard.

BOSS: Ahriman
HP: 5000
ATK: 60
ACC: 65

DEF: 50
AGI: 30
INT: 50

EVA: 25
M DEF: 100
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Dry Ether

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Lightning, Time, Paralysis, Darkness, Silence, Mind,
Fire, ice, Stane, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Death
Ahriman uses Earthquake a lot, and unfortunately for me, worked a lot.
It is a one-hit KO spell, and he uses it frequently. Ahriman has higher
HP than the rest of the gang in this dungeon, but his stata are pretty
fair, Once you get past the annoyance that is Earthquake, you shouldn't
have that hard of a time with him. Ahriman's other deadly attack is
Blaze, which will take out a chunk of HP from your whole party. This is
another spell that you need to watch aut for.
Ahriman isn't weak to any spell, so use physical attacks that are
powered up my your Mage. Using Temper and Haste is a deadly duo against
this boss (and pretty much any boss) . I highly doubt you will have
trouble with this Ahriman. You do get a nice shiny Dry Ether after the
battle with Ahriman. Hooray for spoils!

BOSS: Echidna
HP: 4800
ATK: 50
ACC: 50

DEF: 30
AGI: 30
INT: 50

EVA: 1
M DEF: 70
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: X-Potion

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Lightning, Time, Paralysis, Darkness, Silence, Mind,
Fire, ice, Stane, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Death
Echidna is one giant pansy. Plain and simple. Nat only does Echidna
whore out the Earthquake spell (which hits a lot, just like the battle
with Ahriman), but this punk also uses Death frequently. make sure to
use Life or Phoenix Downs constantly in this fight.
You will
get an X-Potion after the battle. It's nat as cool as a weapon, but
it's still just as useful.

BOSS: Cagnazzo
HP: 7968
ATK: 44
ACC: 80

DEF: 20
AGI: 20
INT: 55

EVA: 5
M DEF: 180
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Light Curtain

Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison, Stone, Ice, Death
Cagnazzo is actually pretty tough, to my surprise. He has a lot more
health compared to previous bosses, but his defense is atrocious. In
fact, a lot of his stats are laughable. He does use Curaga, but with
the whopping you're giving him, it shouldn't matter that much.
Don't even waste your magic on him; physical attacks deal a lot more
anyway. He's weak to Lightning, but spells like Thundaga didn't deal as
much damage for me. Cagnazzo uses a spell called Tsunami, which deals

at least 250 damage to your whole party. Try to take him out as quickly
as possible with beefed up physical attacks before he uses this attack
too much. It can really bring your party members down. Once you defeat
Cagnazzo, you'll receive a Light Curtain for your efforts.

BOSS: Scarmiglione
HP: 4000
ATK: 19
ACC: 50

DEF: 10
AGI: 10
INT: 160

EVA: 10
M DEF: 140
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: None

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Stone, Death, Time, Poison
Everything is low. Health, stats, everything. He's easy. Don't even
bother wasting magic on this baddie; just use physical attacks. His
spells usually target one member for a lot of damage, but you shouldn't
have trouble. You won't get anything for beating Scarmiglione. Things
are looking pretty fishy ...

BOSS: Scarmiglione
HP: 7046
ATK: 46
ACC: 40

DEF: 20
AGI: 10
INT: 100

EVA: 10
M DEF: 140
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Lunar Curtain

Weakness: Fire, Dia

Resistance: Quake, Stone, Death, Time, Poison, Ice
Ah, yes! You thought you beat Scarmiglione, but no, he's back and even
stronger! Well, not by much. His stats and health have increased, but
he is stil! pathetically easy; and now he's weak to Fire and Dia! That
is pretty much a cue for what your Mage should use now.
Scarmiglione mostly uses physical attacks, so you probably won't have
any members dying. Use Fire and Dia spells, with some physical attacks.
Since Scarmiglione has such low health, this battle is easy and you
shouldn't have trouble at all. You recieve the Lunar Curtain for
beating him. (Yes, you actually beat him this time) .

BOSS: Barbariccia
HP: 12954
ATK: 88
ACC: 100

DEF: 10
AGI: 60
INT: 60

EVA: 60
M DEF: 190
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Braveheart

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison, Lightning, Stone, Death
Geez, she was tough as hell, let me say. Barbariccia has a hell of a
lot of HP, and her spells are crazy. Barbariccia's physical attacks
deal a crapload of damage to you, and if that's not enough, she's got
two spells that drove me crazy. Cyclone deals at least 300 damage to
your party, while Ray turns one of your party members to stone.
Make sure you have some Gold Needles and a bunch of Hi-Potions, because
this battle is tough. Her defense is worse than Cagnazzo, so if your
Mage casts Temper on at least 2 party members, they'll probably deal
close to 1000 damage. That is, if they're not dead already. Keep
whacking her (hehe ... ) with physical attacks, and she'll bite the dust
in no time. You also obtain a new weapon for defeating Barbariccia.

BOSS: Rubicante
HP: 15000
ATK: 88
ACC: 150

DEF: 40
AGI: 50
INT: 65

EVA: 30
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Kikuichimonji

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Ice, Stane, Death, Fire, Time, Poison
When I saw that you could go to a bonus dungeon right after you get the
appropriate crystal, I thought, "hey, they can't be tougher than the
bosses that I've already faced, right?". WRONG. I'm going to the final
battle, and these shrine bosses are incredibly tough. Rubicante is the
toughest here. His spells are mostly fire based, like Fire, Fira, and
Firaga. They will deal a lot of damage to you, so be prepared to use
some Phoenix Downs.
His defense is somewhat low, and physical attacks will do the trick.
Use the Giant's Gloves to power yourself up, and use physical attacks
while your Mage uses your strongest magic spells. He has a lot of
health; more than Barbariccia, so the battle might take a bit. Repeat
the procesa of powering up, attacking, and spells, and you'll take the
big guy out. You get the hard-to-pronounce Kikuichimonji afterwards.

BOSS: Gilgamesh
HP: 8888
ATK: 70
ACC: 110

DEF: 50
AGI: 20
INT: 20

EVA: 10
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Genji Gloves

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Stane, Death, Time, Poison
When you see his stata, you won't think he's that tough, but
surprisingly, he is. Gilgamesh has high attack, so you'll be using a
lot of Hi-Potions and healing spells. His attacks are mostly physical
that target one character, and he has some spells that either really
hurt you, or barely hurt you.
For example, a spell, Excalipur, only deals one damage. Other spells of
his can really kick the crap out of you. Gilgamesh has high magic
defense, so stick to physical attacks this time. Take him out as
quickly as possible so he won't be able to inflict as much damage to
you with is more powerful attacks.

BOSS: Atomos
HP: 13000
ATK: 50
ACC: 80

DEF: 70
AGI: 10
INT: 130

EVA: 10
M DEF: 200
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Judgement Staff

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Stane, Death, Time, Poison
Atomos is pretty easy; easier than Gilgamesh at least. He's incredibly
slow and his attack is pretty low, so you can take your time in this
battle. He does have an attack, Wormhole, that is a one-hit KO spell.
It rarely hits, so it isn't much of a problem. The battle should be a
reminder of the battles with Ahriman or Echidna.
Atomos's Wormhole spell doesn't hit that much, and he doesn't have much
of an arsenal other than that and physical attacks (which are weak). I
used beefed up physical attacks and strong spells,
and that did the
trick. Atomos has a lot of health, but that's not a problem. He'll be

I down for the count before you know it. Luckily for you, you will get
I the very useful weapon, the Judgement Staff.

'-------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOSS: Omega
HP: 35000
ATK: 115
ACC: 200

DEF: 180
AGI: 76
INT: 40

EVA: 95
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Muramase

Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: Quake, Ice, Stone, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Death, Fire,
Time, Paralysis, Darkness, Silence, Mind
Omega is by far the toughest boss in the game. He doesn't have a lot
of attacks, but the ones that he has are very strong. He has physical
attacks that deal a lot of damage, so don't be surprised if you get
killed in two or three hits from one of his attacks.
If
you want, you can cast stat-raising spells to power up stronger
fighters, but i t ' l l take a while to deal decent darnage.
I took a couple rounds boosting them up, and it took a while until my
characters could deal 1000 damage to him. Use a flurry of strong spells
like Flare and Thundaga, while other characters heal and attack
constantly. Omega is very strong, so you're rnost definitely going to
lose many, many times, but keep coming back and use all you've got to
take him out for good. The Muramase is yours, you've earned it!

BOSS: Shinryu
HP: 35000
ATK: 220
ACC: 200

DEF: 60
AGI: 87
INT: 70

EVA: 20
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Ragnarock

Weakness: None
Resistance: Quake, Stane, Death, Time, Poison
Shinryu was tough, but I beat him on rny second try. This menacing foe
has very high attack, but his weak point is in his defense: it's only
are mere 60. Magic attacks don't hurt him that much; he has high magic
defense. Use pumped-up physical attacks by using Giant's Gloves, Haste,
and Temper. Have your Mage cast Temper and Haste on your strong
characters, and then let him use black magic to take out Shinryu. If
you have weapons like Excalibur and Masamune, you will deal loads of
damage to Shinryu, so hack away. I had my Knight and Master attack him,
my Ninja healed everyone and used Rune Staff nearly every turn, and I
had my Mage use stat increasing spells and black magic.
The battle rnight take a while, but He isn't that bad. Shinryu's
physical attacks hurt your fighters a lot, but his spells like Tidal
wave will probably deal 400 damage to your party. Use forms of Heal if
you have a White Wizard, but if nat, have your weakest character use
Rune Staff constantly. He tends to use powerful spells when his health
is low, so it should give you some type of clue when he'll die or not.
Once Shinryu is dead, you'll recieve Ragnarock, a sword even more
powerful than Excalibur! Just because he was so annoying, open the

I treasure chest after the battle, and you'll recieve the Hero's Shield,
I a powerful shield that nicely boosts your defense.

BOSS: Typhon
HP: 10000
ATK: 70
ACC: 70

DEF: 100
AGI: 10
INT: 40

EVA: O
M DEF: 190
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Genji Helm

Weakness: Ice
Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison, Fire, Stone, Death
Typhon has moderate amount of health, and well, his stats are pretty
moderate too. He doesn't have any Evasion, but he does have high
efense, so you might have trouble dealing a lot of damage to him. I
thought Typhon was going to be easy, but surprisingly, he was
incredibly annoying.
Make sure you have a lot of Phoenix Downs, because he has a one-hit KO
spell called Snort that seems to rarely miss. He uses Snort more than
he does attack you! Use Phoenix Downs and Life if your members die, and
use Blizzaga to take him out. Typhon is weak against Ice, so Blizzaga
may be your best bet against this boss. If you want, you can use
Temper, Saber, and Haste to pump up a strong character and use physical
attacks, but either method is fine. You will obtain the Genji Helm, a
nice piece of armar, after the battle with Typhon.

BOSS: Orthros
HP: 17000
ATK: 60
ACC: 80

DEF: 40
AGI: 30
INT: 20

EVA: O
M DEF: 180
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Rune Staff

Weakness: Fire, Lightning

Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison, Ice, Stane, Death
Orthros? More like Ultros!! Ha ha. In terms of the battle, I was
actually disappointed by Orthros. His stats are pretty low, and even
though his health is somewhat high, this guy can be taken out rather
quickly. He's weak to Fire and Lightning, so use those two spells
against Orthros to ensure maximum damage dealt to the octopus.
If you're high enough leve!, Ink probably won't even hit you. If you
are hit by Ink, simply cure it with Eye Drops. Orthros does pack a
punch, but as always, use Protera to negate that. use your strongest
attacks and spells that are strong against Orthros, and he won't be
much of a problem to your party.

BOSS: Phantom Train

HP: 9999
ATK: 200
ACC: 50

DEF: 80
AGI: 30
INT: 40

EVA: o
M DEF: 180
GIL: o

EXP: O
Drop: Megalixer

Weakness: Fire, Dia

Resistance: Quake, Stane, Death, Time, Poison
Holy moly, look at his attack! Phantom Train does have an obnoxiously
high attack, so keep your guard up.

You can alsa
use Fire and Dia spells if you don't use my strategy, since those two
spells are Phantom Train's main weaknesses. You'll need a lot of
Phoenix Downs and Ethers for this fight, but since Phantom Train has
pretty low HP and very high Attack, you'll either have a hard time
with him or breeze through him. You'll get a nice Megalixer afterwads.

'-------------------------------------------------------------------------'
BOSS: Death Gaze
HP: 30000
ATK: 90
ACC: 200

DEF: 150
AGI: 95
INT: 50

EVA: 30
M DEF: 220
GIL: O

EXP: O
Drop: Lightbringer

Weakness: Fire, Dia

Resistance: Quake, Time, Poison, Ice, Stane, Death
