Prerequisites
Demo home page and login
You will need a Microsoft Office Demo (MOD) Office 365 tenant to complete this demo. You can obtain a demo
environment at https://demos.microsoft.com.

User Accounts
Megan Bowen (alias MeganB) is the typical account used in MOD Hero demo modules. If this MOD Hero module
requires a different account for log in or if additional log in accounts are needed, the information is provided in the
Pre-demo Setup Steps.

If this is the first time you are using the demo environment, complete the Post-Install Steps at the end of this

Pre-demo Setup Steps


Office 365 Video
The following steps are required prior to each presentation of the demo:
Set up Browser

1. In the browser, log into the Contoso home page as admin.

Office 365 Video Demo Steps


Manage the Office 365 Video Portal

Click Steps

Office 365 Video is an intranet portal where people can


post and view videos. It's a streaming video service,
available with SharePoint Online.

1 In the Admin browser, on the Contoso home page, in


the upper left, click App Launcher, and then click
Video.

Video portal admins can customize the Office 365 Video
portal through the Portal Settings directly on the

Behind the scenes, video managers can leverage the
same Active Directory authentication used elsewhere in
Office 365 to set permissions for the home page. This
governance model enables admins to manage
permissions separately for each channel.
Channels bring together similar videos. They are easy
to create, and Channel admins can manage their own
content and specific set of permissions.

On the Manage Video Portal page, in the


description, pause on the Video admins area.

Select the manage the Home page text to


highlight it.

In the box, type Lynne Robbins, and then select


Lynne Robbins when his name displays.

Point to Channel admins.

Select the create channels text to highlight it.

The Spotlight tab showcases top-priority information


or late-breaking news for the organization.

Admins can choose up to four videos and three


channels to Spotlight on the Office 365 Video portal
home page.

In left navigation of Manage Video Portal, click


Spotlight.
Under Spotlight videos, click a video.

In the video dialog, click a video, and then click


Ok.

Under Spotlight channels click the first drop
down and hover on available channels in list, and
then click Executive Corner.

Create a Channel

Channel admins can create new channels. One or more


people with edit permissions can then manage the
channel.

Channels.

Starting a new channel is as easy as clicking the New


Channel link and giving it a name and color.

In the top navigation of the Channels page, click
New Channel.

Click Cancel.

Upload Videos

Click Steps

Admins can add a video to a channel using Upload or


by dragging and dropping the file into the upload area
of a channel.

If Build your channel dialog displays, tap Get

Manage a Channel

Channel Admins can customize Channel Settings,


such as tile name and color, and they can delete
channels.

Admins can also define three levels of permissions for


managing videos: Owners, Editors, and Viewers.
Finally, they can set up spotlights to push forward

Embed a Video

Click Steps

Reusing videos in other places is as easy as working


with the Embed code.

1. On the Executive Corner channel, click a video.


2. Under the video, click Embed (
).
3. Click within the Embed dialog and select the
text.
4. Right-click the selected text and click Copy.
5. Close the Embed dialog box.
6. Click the tab with Sales and Marketing page
opened.
7. In the upper right, click settings (gear icon), and
then click Edit page.
8. Click within Page Content after the Welcome
sentence, and then press Enter to add white
space.
9. On the ribbon, click Insert, and then in the
Embed group, click Embed.
10.In Embed window, right-click within the text box,
and then click Paste.
11.Click Insert.
12.In lower right corner of video, click Edit Snippet.
13.Click Cancel to close Embed window.
14.Optional: Click Play on the video.

This block of HTML is embedded in the page code and


creates the video object.
Anyone can copy the code for a video.

That code can then be inserted on to some other Office


365 page, such as the Sales and Marketing site.

This is what the Snippet looks like. From this screen


the embed code can be updated to change sizing or
other layout features.

Reset Instructions

1. Delete the newly created channel.

2. Delete embedded video from Sales and Marketing page.

There are no Post-Install Steps for the Office 365 Video demo.
