Electrical Submersible Pumping Systems

The Sensor
The electrical submersible pump (ESP) multi variable downhole gauge
attaches to the bottom of the downhole motor and provides key data regarding
the operating environment of the pumping system, such as pump intake
pressure and pump temperature, and discharge pressure.
The downhole gauge series is also equipped with a resistance temperature detector
(RTD) to record motor winding temperature and its vibration feature measures
both x and y axis and detects increasing vibration caused by worn or damaged
pump and motor components. This provides the operator with information to help
protect the ESP system. A variety of adaptors are available to fit many different ESP
motors. The circuitry and transducer are sealed at the factory for maintenance-free
operation and high reliability. With its rugged capacitance transducer and reliable
design, the sensor can help optimize production and reduce downtime and
premature pump failure.
Surface Monitoring System (SMS)
Bottomhole pressure and temperature data are transmitted to the surface
through the motor power supply cable and received by the surface monitoring
system that can be integrated to the variable speed drive (VSD) and the
InteLift remote monitoring system. Data received by the SMS is decoded and
translated into pressure and temperature values, which are easily stored,
displayed, and accessed locally/remotely. The surface system can provide various
communication options such as RS-485 (Modbus) and RS-232.
