Spring 2017 Proctors Schedule and Information - Mechanics Readiness Program and the Statics Review Program

You are responsible for proctoring the Mechanics Readiness Program and Statics Review Program tests. Please carefully read the procedures for taking the
test, which are on the handout given to the students--this is in your packet. The proctoring schedule follows.
Please note that both exams are being offered in both computer labs at the same times, except when we do not have enough available proctors. The undergrad
tutors and graduate TA's who will be responsible for being in the labs at their appointed times are listed on the last page. Please do not be late! To access the
computer lab in W215 Nebraska Hall (NH), use your NCard in the card reader outside the room. To access the lab in N15 Scott Engineering Center (SEC),
swipe your NCard in the card reader located on the wall outside the north door of SEC, located under the link (near the bicycle park).
If you have any problems with the card readers, go to https://www.engr.unl.edu/ and click on Doorlock Registration. You can enter your information there
to get access. It may take a day or more for access to be granted, so be prepared to enter when another student goes in. Please check to make sure you have
access before the day of your first shift, so that this is not a problem!
A username and password that you need to memorize are in your information packet. If you already have an account to use these computers, though, you
should use that account. If you have forgotten the password that you previously had, just go to the EducationSystem at http://emweb.unl.edu to request that
your password be sent to you. The passwords are case-sensitive. It is very important that you do not share your username or password with anyone. Please
don't leave it in the lab.
If there is ever a time conflict, please email or talk to Cherie Crist in the Mechanical & Materials Engineering Department immediately. Do not wait until the
day of the time conflict, if it can be avoided. If a time conflict cannot be resolved and there is no one available to work, we must close the exam down in that
room for that time period. Also, be prepared for an updated schedule to be emailed to you, because there always are time conflicts that come up during the
first two weeks of class.
When a student asks to take a proctored MRP or SRP examination, verify that the student information on the computer screen matches the students NCard. Also
make sure that the students follow these rules:
The students should not use books or notes
The students should not get help from others
No student should be allowed to begin the MRP exam less than 40 minutes before 12:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 9:00 PM
No student should be allowed to begin the SRP exam less than 2 hours before 12:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 9:00 PM
The students must complete the entire test in one sitting
The MRP students are not allowed to use a calculator

The SRP students are allowed to use a calculator

In case of emergency / computer problem:

First, make sure that students have used Internet Explorer to take the exam, and that they accessed the MRP or the SRP at http://em-ntserver.unl.edu

Sometimes when there is a problem with the exam, you can fix it by going to the user information and resubmitting your information.
A second fix is to create a new user account using a new username. An ungraded examination will be lost, but there is no remedy for that.

Some proctors in the past have printed off the students examination when the computer wont grade it, in the hope that it can be hand-graded.
We understand the wish to rescue work that has been completed. However, please do not do this. The examination cannot be hand-graded, as the
test must be taken online so the results are recorded in that database. If the student wishes to copy their answers into a new exam, it is okay to
print it off for that.

Please be sure to let Cherie Crist (ccrist8@unl.edu, or 472-2375) AND Dr. Mehrdad Negahban know of any problems you encounter. Inform Dr.
Negahban either by using the problem submission button on the MRP / SRP front page, or by e-mailing him at mnegahban@unl.edu. Be prepared
to provide the following information:
1. Which lab has the problem (W215 NH or N15 SEC)?
2. What is the nature of the problem? (For example, students cannot log on to take a proctored exam, or the computer wont grade an exam, etc.)
3. Is the problem on all computers in the lab, or just some of them? Get the ID #s of affected computers. These are on labels affixed to the computer
monitors.
For problems outside of regular office hours (after 5:00 PM, or on Sunday), youll need to e-mail Cherie with details of the problem, and close down
any affected computers. If necessary, put up a sign notifying students that the proctored exam is not available, due to computer problems. Students
may still take practice (ungraded) exams, if they wish.
Make sure each student logs off after leaving the computer.

Thank you for all of your hard work!
