Position: Programme Assistant (VAM - Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping)


Contract Type: Special Service Agreement/Service Contract
Duration: 3 months with possibility for extension
Duty Station: Papua, Indonesia

Accountabilities: Within delegated authority, the Programme Assisstant (VAM) will be responsible for the
following duties:

 Monitor and compile information from various sources (government, NGO, university, etc) related
to food security, disaster, and poverty issues in Papua province;
 Enhance and maintain relationship with key local government and non-government agencies related
with VAM activities;
 Assist VAM CO in capacity development of the government counterparts, provincial and district
levels on food security analysis and mapping, particularly Food Security and Vulnerability Map
(FSVA);
 Assist in surveys related to food security in Papua province if required;
 Support the head of Papua Office to carry out advocacy on food and nutrition security in meetings,
workshops, seminars, missions, etc.;
 Assist the Head of Papua Office and CO in organizing workshop and training related to VAM
activities for government and/or other implementing partners as required;
 Assist in financial and administrative work related to the VAM;
 Directly report to Head of Papua Office; technically supervised by VAM Officer and Senior VAM
Assistant in CO;
 Perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications and Experiences:


Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in economics, agriculture, social
sciences, development studies, statistics, anthropology, international affairs, business administration, or a field
relevant to international development assistance.

Experience: Three years working experience in development programme, humanitarian assistance, or research
related activities is desirable. Experience in working with capacity development programmes with government
agencies is an advantage.
Knowledge: Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other
software packages.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Other Desirable Skills: Training and/or experience using Word, and Excel; WFP’s Information Systems
(WINGS) and other WFP software; knowledge of WFP financial regulations; and rules and WFP policies and
procedures in the area of work.
