Thank Yous
First, I would like to thank Marvelous/ Natsume /Rising Star
(depending on where you live) and Nintendo for creating this wonderful
series! Second, I would like to thank all my friends who contributed
information to this account. Last, but definitely not least, I would
like to thank my friend (who chose to be anonymous) for telling me
what she did on Harvest Moon everyday, and listen to me while I told
her. :D

Animals Versus Crops
I thought here I would list some of the pros and cons of animals and
crops. It is best to farm as much as you can, but if you are stretched
for time or space, this may help you decide what to do:
Animals:
Pros
Last for several years
Give produce almost everyday
Cute companions
Can enter in Contests
Cons
Must feed everyday
Require lots of care
The Sheds they live in can cost a bit at first, and take up valuable
space
Crops:
Pros
Don't eat
Take up little room
Can be planted in many areas around town
Wide variety
Many are worth good amounts of gold once they are leveled up
Cons
Need to be water on all sunny days
Can't grow in Winter
No Contests (except for the Cooking Contest, but that is different)

Coming Next
I will finish what I have right now. Namely, the price guide and crop
calculator. I am adding to the crop section, however, and a bit of the
animal section. Goal for this stuff: February.

Animal Introduction
Now it's time to talk about animals! There are many types of animal,
and they all do different things! If you are just starting out, I
recommend getting a Chicken, then using its' eggs to make more
Chickens for free! (Info on how in the Chicken section). PLEASE
REMEMBER THAT ONLY 4 ANIMALS CAN FIT IN ANY ANIMAL SHED!!!!
1.1 Animal Food and Sheds
Okay, here are the basics. Chickens and Ducks live in Bird Sheds. Cows
and Sheep live in Animal Sheds.Four animals can fit in each shed. It
can be any combination as long as it can live in that shed. e.i. two
Ducks and two Chickens is okay in a Bird Shed; but don't have a Duck,
a Sheep, and two Cows in a Animal Shed! Also, after you get the horse,
it lives in the Stable next to your house; it never has to go inside
if you don't want. The Dog and Cat don't have to go inside, but they
can live anywhere. (If you put them in a Bird or Animal Shed, the
animals in the shed may become unhappy).
Also, animals (except for the Horse, Dog, and Cat) need to eat!
Animals that live in Bird Houses need to eat Bird Feed. It
automatically goes into the red box in the back of the shed. Press the
A button to take a stack of Bird Feed out, put it in the brown boxes,
then press A next to it again to put the rest of it back. For Animal
Barn animals, it is a bit trickier. First, you need a Silo. This is
where the food is stored. Thou use the same concept to feed your
Animal Shed animals as your Bird Shed animals. Plus, animal food is
called animal fodder. Also, if you plant grass seeds outside, Cows and
Sheep will eat the mature grass, or you can cut it and it turns to
fodder. Chickens and Ducks will find their own food if left outside
for a couple hours. This is great if you are low on food! And
remember: YOU DON'T GET IT TO GET THE ANIMAL FODDER FROM THE SILO.
Here is a simple diagram:
Chicken\
Cow\
Duck/
Sheep/
Eats: Nothing.
Festival Info: None
Growth and Birth: None
Cautions: The Cat can be trapped in your walls, under your
refrigerator, under the table, or a few other places. If you order a
new house item, or are rebuilding your house, put your Cat outside
until the item has come or the remodel is over.
Glitches: No glitches involving the Cat have been discovered yet.
1.6 Horse
Price: Free. Takakura gives you the Horse after you ship 1000 items. He
will tell you he found it and has no room on his farm for it. (He lives
on YOUR farm!)
Produce/Purpose: You can ride it faster than you can walk. You can ship
items by putting them in the Horse's Saddlebags.
Lives: The Horse lives in the Stable, which is on your farm when you
start.
Life Expectancy: The Horse lives forever.
Eats: Your Chickens. Just kidding! He doesn't eat.
Festival Info: None.
Growth and Birth: None
Cautions: If you dismount your Horse, he immediately starts to wander.
He can be hard to catch up with, or find, so keep an eye on him.
Glitches: Infinite "Cow" Milk:
Use your Brush. Halfway, through, drag the Milker over the Brush and
your start to Milk your Horse. So far, the Milk I have gotten has been
level 1,3, or 4. You can sell it just like Cow Milk. * Shifty Eyes *
and no one will ever tell the difference. Heh Heh Heh.
1.7 Cattle (Cows)
Price: 5000G for Cow 3500G for Cow Miracle Potion
Produce/Purpose: Milk. You get Small Milk by using the Milker alone, or
get bigger Milk using the Touch Glove and Milker.
Lives: In the Animal Shed.
Life Expectancy: Cows live for around 5-7 years.
Eats: Animal Fodder. If put outside with mature Grass, they will only
need to eat that, instead.
Festival Info: The Cow Festival is on Summer 20. To win, your Cow must
have 9 or 10 hearts. That means it must have almost max love points. A
Cow can only enter a contest if it is the Cow's first time, it is not
pregnant, and is happy. If the Cow wins, it goes up a level. It is
still unconfirmed if a higher level means that you get more Milk using
only the Milker.
Growth and Birth: A Cow becomes pregnant if you give it a Cow Miracle
Potion. It will be pregnant for about 21 days. During this time, it
cannot leave the Barn, and has to be feed everyday. Only one animal can
be pregnant at once in an Animal Shed, but if you have to Sheds, one
can be pregnant in each one. When a Calf is born, it will be the level
of its parent and have 2 hearts. After about 1-2 weeks, the Calf
becomes a Young Cow. On the Touch Screen, the Young Cow will be smaller
than a Cow, and has no Udders. After about another 1 week or so, it
will be an adult. Also, the Calf has a 75% chance of being the color of
the parent.
Cautions: As long as you don't do anything to upset the Cow, it should
be fine.
Glitches: No glitches involving the Cow have been discovered.
1.8 Sheep
Price: 4000G for Sheep 3000G for Sheep Miracle Potion
Produce/Purpose: Wool. You get Small Wool by using the Shears alone.
You can get up to 4 pieces of Small Wool per Sheep this way. OR, you
can use the Shears and Touch Glove to get bigger Wool. (Up to a Large
and two Smalls a Sheep. Wool grows only every 7-8 days.
Lives: In the Animal Shed.
Life Expectancy: Sheep live for around 3-5 years.
Eats: Animal Fodder. If put outside with mature Grass, it will eat
that, instead.
Festival Info: The Sheep Festival is on Fall 21. To win, your Sheep has
to have 9-10 hearts. That means almost max love points. A Sheep can
enter if it is its first time, is happy, not pregnant, and has all of
its Wool. If it wins, it goes up a level.
Growth and Birth: A Sheep becomes pregnant if you give it a Sheep
Miracle Potion. It can be used on happy, adult Sheep that have all
their Wool. The Sheep will then be pregnant for about 21 days. During
this time, it will not be able to go outside, and needs food and care
everyday. Then, a baby Sheep will be born! I don't yet know its life
stages, but I will very soon!
Cautions: As long as you do nothing to upset the Sheep, it will be
fine.
Glitches: Infinite Sheep Wool:
1. Rub between the Sheep's legs until S appears in the box. Quit.
2. Rub the Sheep's head and the area around the Sheep's head until it
says S again. Quit again.
3. Rub around the Sheep's tail until you see the S again. Quit again.
4. Rub the Wool in the middle of the Sheep until you see the S again.
Quit again.
5. Now, the Wool between the legs is back, and the Wool on the back
legs is gone! Rub off the Wool between the legs again. Quit again.
6. Rub the Wool off the middle of the Sheep until it reaches S again.
Quit again.
7. The middle Wool and leg Wool is back! Rub off the Wool between the
legs again.
8. Return to step 4 and repeat!
Remember, you should do this inside to keep time from passing. And, you
can eat whenever you want, and return to where you left off.
1.9 Chickens
Price: 1000G
Produce/Purpose: Eggs.
Lives: In the Bird Shed.
Life Expectancy: Chickens live for about 1-3 years.
Eats: Bird Feed. If left outside for a few hours, it will find its own
food.
Festival Info: The Chicken Festival is on Summer 7. Any happy adult
Chicken can enter, as long as this is its first time. To win, it needs
to have 9 to 10 hearts, meaning almost max love points. If it does win,
it goes up a level.
Growth and Birth: It doesn't take much to have a new Chicken. Simply
put a Chicken Egg in the Incubator, located on the left wall of your
Bird Shed. In 3 days, the egg will hatch into a Chick. The Chick will
be the level of its parent, and have 2 hearts. It won't need to eat,
either. After 7 days, it will become an Adult Chicken and lay eggs. If
you are trying to get a leveled up Chicken, but can't tell whose egg is
whose, follow these steps:
1. Walk into the Shed.
2. Pick one Chicken; remember which egg it is sitting on.
3. Look in your Rucksack, is it the Chicken you were looking for?
4. If it is, put the egg it was sitting on in the Incubator. If not,
try again tomorrow!
Cautions: Just keep your little Chickens happy and they'll be fine.
Glitches: There are no glitches involving Chickens.
1.10 Ducks
Price: 1500G (Must have the Duck Pond)
Produce/Purpose: Eggs. *Ducks' Eggs are worth more than Chicken Eggs,
but are only laid every other day.
Lives: In the Bird Shed.
Life Expectancy: Ducks live for 2-4 years.
Eats: Ducks eat Bird Feed. If left outside, they find their own food
within a few hours.
Festival Info: The Duck Festival is held on Spring 18 every year. To
enter, a Duck has to never have entered before, be happy, and be an
adult. To win, it needs to have 9-10 hearts, which is near max love
points. If it wins, it gains a level.
Growth and Birth: To hatch an adorable baby ducky, just put a Duck egg
in the Incubator located on the left side of the Bird Shed. In 3 days,
it hatches into a cute gray puffball. In 7 more days, it grows into an
adult Duck. A Duck born on your farm will be born at the level of its
parent, and have 2 hearts. It insure that you hatch an egg from the
correct Duck, follow these directions:
1. Walk into the Shed.
2. Pick one Duck; remember which egg it is sitting on.
3. Look in your Rucksack, is it the Duck you wanted?
4. If so, put the egg it was on in the Incubator; if not, try again
tomorrow!
1.11 Recommendations
Starting the game:
Buy 1 Chicken. Incubate the eggs until you have 4. Then, buy more
animals.
Cow and Sheep Miracle Potions:
For Cows, unless you are leveling up your Cows, I would just buy
another Cow. Because, the money it costs to feed it is more than the
money you save on the Potion. Plus, you get no Milk during that time.
For Sheep, it can go either way. You don't save any money, but you only
lose 2-3 Wool-clipping sessions.
Fences:
Put Lumber around your Animal and Bird Shed. Make sure it goes all the
way around. This will keep your animals from wandering around your
farm, cutting the time it takes to put them inside down considerably.
Make sure that Cows and Sheep can reach mature Grass, and that Ducks
can reach their Pond.

Crops are very important on your farm. All they require is daily
watering, and Tadaaaaa! You have crops! Just read the info about the
type of crop you want. Please note this will not be organized like the
animal section, as plants are different than animals, obviously.
2.1 Watering
You have to water crops everyday. There are two exceptions:
1. When it rains
2. A tree once it is in sapling stage.
To fill your Watering Can, just go up to any water, even the Duck Pond,
and use the can. It will fill up. To water, just use it next to
unwatered, tilled land. You can also hire the Light Blue Harvest
Sprites to water every square of tilled land, including those with
crops on them. The squares must be in the areas you hired them to work
in, and must be outside. That's it for watering, pretty easy, huh?
2.1 Ground Crops
These are the crops you grow outside and on your field. Some examples
would be potatoes or strawberries. They grow in different stages until
they grow the produce. Some disappear once you pick them, but some
return to a certain stage, and then continue growing. These crops will
need to be watered everyday, unless it is raining. The Light Blue
Harvest Sprites can be hired to water these for you. These are the most
common type of crops. Also, you start out with a couple bags of Turnip
Seeds, plant them immediately, they will be one of your main income
sources at the very beginning of the game.
Planting: Till a 3x3 square of land. Stand in the middle, and then use
the Seed Bag.
Purchasing: These can be bought from the Supermarket, Vesta, or the
Harvest Sprites. Each sell different ones. They all cost different
prices.
2.3 Trees
Trees are my personal favorite crop. You start out with one Peach Tree
in the middle of your farm. This is what a mature Tree looks like.
Trees also stay where they are planted forever, unless you cut them
down. Trees go through many stages:
1. Seeds in the ground. You have to water these.
2. Sapling. You won't have to water these.
3 and 4. Middle tree. You don't have to water these, they look almost
grown up.
5. Mature tree. Bears fruit. Doesn't need water.
A mature Tree will have flowers on it the season before it bears fruit.
Then, it will have one fruit on it. Pick the fruit. After a few days,
the fruit will grow back. Here are the grow times for each type of
tree: (Please keep in mind that treed go dormant in Winter, and stop
growing)
Banana: 40 Days
Orange: 43 Days
Apple: 52 Days
Grape: 58 Days
Peach: 58 Days
Planting: Till a 2x2 space of land. Stand in the upper left corner. Use
the bag of seeds. You will only have to water it until it becomes a
sapling.
Purchasing: These can be bought only from Vesta. They cost in the low
thousands of Gold.
2.4 Basement Crops:
Basement Crops are very similar to ground crops. Here are the
differences:
They are underground, in your basement.
They can be grown any season.
They need daily watering.
They can't be watered by Sprites.
The Basements also are different than normal land. First off, you will
need the third Mine. In the floors ending in 1,2,3 and 4, you can find
the Seasonal Suns. You will need 1 of those for each floor of your
Basement. (You can have three floors). Okay, lets say you find a Fall
Sun. Ask Gotz to build you a Basement. (You must have your House
upgraded first) Then, when it is done, put the Fall Sun in the Sun
Holder. Now, you can plant any Fall crops on this floor!
Things to remember: These need daily watering. If one Basement
collapses, so do the ones under it. If a Sun is removed, the crops on
that floor die. Suns can be switched at any time. On the third Basement
is a water patch for filling your watering can.
Planting: The same as Ground Crops.
Purchasing: Use the same seeds as Ground Crops.
2.5 Mushrooms
You can even plant Mushrooms! Here are the steps:
1. By a Maker Shed and a Mushroom Shed.
2. Find Mushrooms in the wild or buy Shiitake seeds from Vesta.
3. Put the Mushrooms in the Seed Maker. (Well, you have to buy that for
the Maker Shed first.)
4. Put a piece of Lumber on one of the pallets in the Mushroom Shed.
5. Sow the Mushroom Seeds on the Lumber.
6. Water everyday.
7. Harvest after a while.
The longer you leave the Mushrooms, the bigger they grow! To get rid of
a Mushroom, just Hammer the Lumber. You have 6 pallets in the Shed,
too. Here are the grow times for the three Mushrooms:
Shiitake: 35 days for Small
Matsutake: 59 days for Small
Toadstool: 42 days for Small
2.6 The Different Fields
There are several different Fields. They all have different growth
rates:
Slow Growth: The fields in the main part of the Valley, the fields by
Turtle Pond, and the Circus Grounds
Normal Growth: Your Farm and Basements
Fast Growth: The Goddess Pond and Mine Fields (heh heh)
Super Growth: Hidden Field behind the Waterfall. Use the Legendary
Sword to break the rock blocking your way. It is in a cave, so you must
water every day
Slow Growth will slow down the growth of crops by a day or two.
Normal Growth is just the normal growth time.
Fast Growth will speed the grow time by one day.
Super Growth will speed it up by two days.
Please note that the regrowth time is the same, just the original
growing time changes. The only exception seems to be Sweet Potatoes.
2.7 Leveling Up Crops
What you need:
A Maker Shed with Seed Maker
Hoe
Watering Can
Two bags of Seeds
ALL CROPS BUT TREES
First, plant the two bags of seeds on top of each other. Water them
every day until they mature. Harvest them. Some will be level 1, and
some will be level 2. To check, look at them in the Rucksack. Sell all
the level 1 crops. Then, put the level 2 crops in the Seed Maker. Plant
the level two crops over each other like with the originals. Lather,
Rinse, and Repeat. Seeds can go up to level 100, and their price goes
up the higher level they are.
TREES
You will also need Mythic or higher Axe
First, plant two bags of seeds on top of each other. Water the tree
until it becomes a sapling. When it matures, pick fruit. Turn the first
2 into seeds, as long as they are level 2, plant them over each other.
Let the other tree live the rest of the season, so you can sell its
fruit, or you can use it in recipes. Repeat.
2.8 Giant Crops
Ground Crops have an additional feature. Giant Crops! There is a random
1 in 255 chance of a crop becoming Giant. Since you can't pick it
Please note the Wild Crops are in the following order: Spring, Summer,
Fall, Winter then mixed. This does not include anything found the
Mines, or any flowers and mushrooms:

1. Introduction
Harvest Moon DS is possibly the most complex harvest Moon game to date. As a
result, this guide is taking a very narrow focus, that of year-round
crop leveling up using the Basement system.
This guide would not have been possible without the wonderful fan site
Ushi no Tane http://www.fogu.com/hm6/home.php and the Gamefaqs Harvest Moon
BBoard. Both are excellent resources, and cover far more than this little
guide.

2. Construction
Harvest Moon DS starts you off with a small house, and you must purchase
expansions to your home and additional buildings from Gotz, the carpenter.
There are prerequisites to be met, to be able to unlock the items needed
for this guide: a Basement, a seed maker, a Maker shed, a Spring Sun, a Summer
Sun, and an Autumn Sun.
2a. How to get a Basement
Starting with your level 1 house, you first should start by buying something
from the grocery store every day. After about 10 days, this should unlock the
Sprite station 2. You should then watch Sprite Station 2 every day, until the
Table becomes available. Buying the table for 500 g allows you to expand your
house once it has arrived. Call Gotz to order the expansion for your house
which takes 200 stones and 3000 g or 43,000 g if you purchase the materials.
Once your house expansion is complete, keep watching Sprite station. To unlock
the next expansion you need to order the kitchen which costs 4000 g. Once it
has been delivered you can order the second home expansion from Gotz. It will
take 700 stones and 10,000 g or you can purchase the materials and
construction
for 150,000 g. Completing the second house expansion unlocks the first
basement
expansion.
Each basement costs more than the one before it, and all three require 999
units of building material. I strongly recommend building in stone as if a
basement collapses, the levels below it are lost as well. For building and
materials in stone the first basement costs 400,000 g, the second costs
950,000 g, and the third costs 3,200,000 g.
Before you can get a seed maker, you must first have a maker shed. To get a
Maker shed, you have to first have both a bird shed and an animal shed. I
strongly recommend building the maker shed out of stone, since if it collapses
you will lose all the maker machines inside it.
To get a seed maker you will need 20,000 g and a piece of Adamantite.
Adamantite can occur on any level of the third mine. Dial up the Blacksmith,
and you can then order the Seed Maker.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
3. Growth and Assumptions
Growing crops in Harvest Moon DS is complicated, thanks to the leveling up
system. The more you overseed a crop, the more likely it is that you will get
next generation plants. While overseeding 5 times seems to generate near 100%
next generation plants, this guide is trying to take a middle ground. While
level 100 crops are possible, it would take over 3 years in the game to get
the fastest growing crop, turnips, to that level. It would take almost 17
years to get a level 100 pineapple! Instead, this guide will look at the
profits for your first year with a particular basement.
The calculations in this guide are based on an assumption that you are
starting with level 1 seeds, that every generation is overseeded 3 times, and
produces 3 next generation plants, the rest current generation. For these
calculations the next generations were planted the same day as they were
harvested. Your actual results may vary. Low next generation yields may force
repeating generations. Higher next generation yields will increase profit.
Appearance of Giant crops may both raise profit and force repeating a
generation due to insufficient next generation seed.
The formula for sale price of a crop is BasePrice * level^2. So a level 2 crop
sells for 4x base, a level 10 crop for 100x base, a level 25 crop for 625x
base, etc.
3a. Crops that don't regrow
For non-regrowable crops this guide assume planting a single 3x3 grid. It
will also assume that each generation produces 6 current generation 3 next
generation crops. The three next generation crops will be turned into seed
for sowing the following generation. Your actual results will vary.
3b. Crops that do regrow
Crops that regrow require a different math. First, since the crops have a
long growth/shorter regrowth pattern cutting them down immediately after
first harvest makes no sense. Instead this guide works with a two 3x3 grid
process. Growing crops on grid A, then starting the next generation on grid
B. When B produces its first crop, then grid A will be chopped down and
planted with the improved seeds from B's first harvest. This yields 5 low
generation veggies for sale from the first harvest, and 5 low generation and
3 high generation for sale for each subsequent harvest until it's cut down.
Your actual results will vary.
Also, since these are regrowable crops, this guide will assume planting in
the horseshoe shape preferred by many HM players to allow full harvesting.

3c. Comparisons
In deciding the crops that generate the best profit, the figures for crops
that do not regrow were doubled, to simulate planting on two 3x3 grids like
the regrowing crops are.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
4. Spring Basement - 1st year estimates
Turnips, 5 days to maturity, no regrow, initial sale price 60 g
After 1 year, you should have level 30 plants
After 1 year, selling your excess crops should yield 3,079,800 g
Potato, 8 days to maturity, no regrow, initial sale price 80 g
After 1 year, you should have level 18 plants
After 1 year, selling your excess crops should yield 856,800 g
Cabbage, 15 days to maturity, no regrow, initial sale price 250 g
210,000 g
To get flower seeds, you must put the flowers picked in the wild in a seed
maker. Flower seeds cannot be purchased.
7b. Trees
While you can plant trees in your basement and they will grow, you cannot
get fruit from them. Leaving them in the basement with the sunstone for the
season before they are supposed to produce fruit will result in flowers, but
when you switch to the sun for the harvest season, no fruit develop.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
8. Improved Planting Patterns
The basement growing fields are seven squares high by ten squares wide. Two
squares are 'wasted' by the stand that holds the Sun for that basement.

8a. Non-regrowing crops
For Non-regrowing crops, you can plant as solid as your watering can allows.
Plants can be jumped over to reach inside spaces.

The birthday guide's purpose is to be a quick reference for the villagers' and
Harvest Sprites' birthdays and recommended gifts. Birthdays are the best days
to give gifts.
The potential friend points (and love points, if a bachelorette) for villagers
multiplies by 5 on their birthdays, giving you a chance to earn up to 45 FP
in one gift. Giving a girl her favorite item will you snag you 4000 LP in one
shot. LP can only be raised once per day, but the FP can continue raising with
less points for each gift after the first gift (i.e., give Wally yogurt for
his
birthday and you'll get 45 LP with him. Give him another yogurt and you'll get
15 LP).
For the Harvest Sprites, the potential FP multiplies by two on their birthdays
(i.e., give Blue an Indigo Grass on his birthday, and you'll get 10 FP with
him
on the first gift, and 5 LP for every other well-liked gift).
To find a certain date, use ctrl+F and type in Season XX; i.e., if you're
looking for the second day in Fall, search "Fall 02".
To find a certain person or sprite, use ctrl+F and type in that person's name;
i.e., if you're looking for Vesta, search "Vesta".

--------------------------3.0-Construction material=+
--------------------------There are 4 Different types of material:
Fodder < Lumber (wood) < Stone < Golden Lumber
-3.1- Fodder
The cheapest and weakest material, it can collapse, in rain, snow,
or even in sunny days!! To obtain Fodder, you can buy it from Rick,
who works in the Yodel Farm for 20G per piece, or Grow your own by
buying grass seeds in the Supermarket (they grow in any season
EXCEPT winter), they re grow once you cut it with your Sickle. To store
your Fodder, you need a Silo.
-3.2- Lumber
An "ok" material, although I really don't trust it to hold up
during a storm or blizzard. To collect Lumber, go through the town
or through your fields and look for branches on the floor, get your
Axe and chop those branches. You can Also buy lumber from Gotz for 50G,
although, I don't recommend it. Like Stone, new lumber appears every day.
-3.3- Stone
In my opinion, this is the best material. Not only is it Affordable,
it's also VERY reliable. They can endure rain, sun, snow! They have
a very slim chance of being destroyed during a storm. It hasn't happened
to me...yet. This can be found the same way as Lumber. Just walk around,
the
town, and look for little round rocks, get your hammer, and smash 'em. New
rocks appear every day, so be on the look-out!
The mushroom shed lets you grow...mushrooms. Like the ones that you find
During
Autumn. Except they can get bigger.
The Maker shed lets you store machines that let you do all sorts of cool
things,
but before we go on talking about makers, you need to know:
YOU MUST HAVE THE THIRD MINE UNLOCKED!!!!! Why do you need the third mine
unlocked? Because in order to make a maker you need 20,000 G and Adamantite
Ore which is ONLY found in the third mine.
-6.1-
Mushroom shed
In this cozy, little shed, you will be able to grow many different types of
mushrooms. But before you will need to hire Gotz, and ask him to build you a
Mushroom shed, but you can only have 1 mushroom shed in your farm, so pick the
location Wisely!! Mushroom sheds don't look like much from the outside, but
when you go inside you'll find 6 Pallets. On each pallet you can place a piece
of lumber. You can buy Shiitake seeds from Vesta for 3,000 G each (they regrow)
or you can make your own seeds once you have a Maker Shed and a Seed Maker.
Mushrooms take a VERY long time to grow, so be patient, but the good part is
that they won't stop growing, as long as you don't stop watering them. Once
you
Harvest them they go back to an earlier stage, then in about 3-6 days they can
be harvested again. But instead of harvesting right away, keep watering them
and they'll get bigger!

Once you get this shed, the money will be POURING in....they is...unless you

NOTICES:
I got a few of these recipes off a couple of Japanese sites which no
longer exist. I always want to give credit where its due, so I give
a big 'arigato' to whoever the fans are that had those sites up.
Special thanks to Natsume for making a game that never seems to get old
and manages to entertain me no matter how many versions of it I play.
Thankfully Im secure enough in my manliness to tell my friends that
Im busy petting my cows ^^
Also thanks to GameFAQs. Ive gotten info countless times for quite a
few years from this site so its about time I give something back. This
is my first submission and I hope that some Harvest Moon fans will be
able to make good use of it.
Also, if there are any errors here I hope the HM fans will let me know
so I can correct this guide.
Big thanks to Rose Of Blood for sending me a correction for the fish
sticks recipe. Now everyone can enjoy the little nuggets of pureed
fish! ^^
I also need to thank Chaos Azeroth for giving me a working recipe
for the Chirashi Sushi.. seems I mistranslated the one that I had
written in this guide and put a note asking someone to send me a
recipe that works for it.. I'm glad someone finally did. Thanks!
More thanks goes to Anna Chibi and Kess for letting me know that I
had my wires crossed and accidentally reversed the recipes for the
Bodigizer XL and the Turbojolt XL. They're correct now and we have
these two ladies to thank for it!
Ok now for the note about the buckwheat flour. I've gotten quite
a few letters about how to go about obtaining it so I'll just
list everything. Some people say that you should be able to just
get the flour at the end of the Year's End festival, but I'm handed
noodles not flour. Seems in the japanese one the player was given
flour and there was a translation error. However, some people who
got their copy more recently have told me that they do get the flour
so maybe the mistranslation was only in the first batch of games
like mine. I've also been told that if you talk to the mayor with
absolutely nothing equipped then you'll get flour even when you've
been getting noodles. So anyway, that's everything I've heard so
far about the buckwheat stuff so I guess just try everything and
see if any of these options work for you. I can only hope they'll
make it a bit more simple on the Wii and try to do a better job
with some of the translation ^^
**Update**
The buckwheat issue is solved (kinda). If you're able to get it,
make sure your slots are empty at the festival or it won't be
given to you (you'll get noodles instead). Now I've also recieved
some version info and it turns out that some of us ARE bugged.
While the Japanese versions and the European versions are ok, only
the later US versions are ok. The early US copies are bugged and
not only can we not get the flour, but we can not marry the witch
or goddess either. In any case, the versions are as follows:
Version 1.0 - ABCEN0J13 = bugged
Version 1.05 - ABCEN0J22 = bugged
Version 1.1 - ABCEN1J09 ABCEN1J11 or later = works properly
so the bad news is that if you use the procedure above and you do
not get the buckwheat flour, chances are you have an early version
and it simply isn't possible to obtain it. Yeah it sucks, my game
is one of the early versionsm ><
Thanks goes to Kong Xiong for giving me confirmation about the
bug issues, and he provided the software version numbers. Hopefully
this stupid flour issue is solved now for all of us!
Anyone else who catches things that are incorrect or has any useful
info to give, please don't ever hesitate to write :)

The better they are at a job the more the team costs, but you can offset
the price by befriending the team members. The more hearts the team
members have, the cheaper the team is.
A sprite team will work from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 0.2 - Finding the sprites
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
Each sprite will be unusable until you complete the requirements to unlock
him from the other world. When you finish the task the sprite will instantly
appear on your screen, thank you for finding him, and then return to the
Company Tree. There are 101 sprites in total that need to be located.
The first 60 sprites you find are the most important. One of the marriage
requirements in HMDS is for you to find at least 60 before the girl you
are trying to marry will accept your proposal. After you find the 60 sprites
needed for marriage you can forgo looking for any others, or you can take
up the challenge to find all of the missing helpers. Any 60 sprites you
find will work to meet the marriage requirement.
You can see which sprites you have discovered by going into your Farm
Asset screen and tapping the sprite head icon with your stylus.
When you find all 12 of a labor team, exit your farm house after 10:00 pm
and you will be invited to celebrate the team's return with a dance. All
of the team members and yourself will shimmy around in a circle until the
team leader decides it's time for the party to end. You will then be taken
back to your farmhouse, but you will have stayed up all night without
being able to recharge your stamina levels.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 1.0 - Black, Sprite Station team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
Team 10 is listed last in the Farm Asset screen but they are some of the
most important. The 9 sprites of the black team take care of running the
Sprite Station, a small TV station you can access from your touch screen.
The channels of the station will give you information about the going-ons in
the valley and tips on how to play the game. Each of the channel operators
are named after a planet in the Solar System. Once you discover the station
sprite you can watch the channel when ever you want.
You can not increase your friendship with the channel operators since you
don't have the ability to hire them. They are always on.
*--------------*
Mercury
*--------------*
This sprite will be the 3rd one you find in the game, and appears during
the introduction phase of the game. Channel 1 will air the next day's
weather report. You can have sunny, rainy, snowy, hurricane, or snow storm
atmospheres on your farm.
If you want a specific weather pattern for a certain day then save your game
before going to bed the night *before* the day before your weather-specific
day. When you wake up the next day and check channel 1, if the next day's
weather is not to your liking you can just reload and try again.
*--------------*
Venus
*--------------*
The shopping channel is run by the 2nd sprite operator. To unlock channel 2
you will need to call Karen's General Store using your telephone, and buy
something. It doesn't matter what it is (riceballs, seeds, etc.) just as
long as it is *something*. After 10 days worth of purchases you will
discover Venus. The days can not be in a row since Karen takes 2 days off
during the week.
Once a week you'll find something for sale on channel 2 that you can use for
your own house. The rest of the days will be items that *only* Harvest
Sprites can buy. If you are not a sprite then you don't have to worry about
it, and you can never purchase those items. When you find an item you want
to order off of channel 2, call the TV Shopping network from your telephone.
The item will arrive a few days later.

Earth
*--------------*
If you want some hints as to where sprites are hidden you can unlock the
channel 3 sprite, Earth. On his daily show he will tell you where he hears a
sprite's voice, and even has a profile segment where he talks about one
particular sprite in detail that day.
Earth will appear after you have unlocked your 20th sprite.

your own farm. That could be 300 Eggs, 300 Cucumbers, and so on. You can use
the Cannery to ship these items, but you can *not* use the Maker machines to
turn your animal items into more profit. If you ship 300 Mayonnaise you'll
find that Mars will not appear. The same goes for Yogurt, Yarn, and Cheese.

Jupiter
*--------------*
There are records you can purchase from Jet at the Sprite Company Tree that
allow you to change the background music to remixes of past Harvest Moon
songs. After you buy 5 of these records you will unlock Jupiter and his DJ
Channel 5 show. You can change your background music at any time, but the
music will revert back to the standard season song after you trigger events
or use the Touch Glove on your animals. More records will be available to
purchase as you proceed through the game.

okey if you miss one or two.
To unlock Pluto you must ship 100,000 of an item you produce on your farm,
much like what you had to do for unlocking channel 4 (Mars). The easiest to
do this with is not a crop or with chickens, but with your cows.
The Milker tool has an experience bar on it. When you reach the end of the
bar by using the tool, the Milker will then begin to level up every time you
use it. Eventually you will get the ability to collect 100 bottles of small
milk per cow if you use the Milker without the Touch Glove. If you use the
Glove then you'll collect 99 bottles but you can control the size of the
milk by the score you receive during the udder rubbing mini game.
If you had 10 cows you could ship 1000 bottles of small milk per day. One
hundred days later you will unlock Pluto. The more cows you have, the sooner
Pluto will appear.
You can train your Milker by using it when no cows are around. You will
loose stamina as you use the tool, but you will earn experience on the
tool's bar inside the Farm Asset screen. When you get too tired to work you
can simply recharge by eating food or resting in the Hot Springs.
The questions Pluto asks are fairly easy, and are randomly selected each
day.

The red sprite team will milk your cows, sheer your ship, and pick up the
eggs from your ducks and chickens. If your animals are inside their barns
the members of this team will also put fodder and feed into their troughs.
When you collect enough of the members they also add a bonus job to their
skill and start to harvest the crops you have growing on your own farm land!
They do not harvest mature pasture grass.
Anything the sprites collect from your cows and sheep will always be at a
small size. They also do not use the Cannery to increase your sell profit.

Own a total of 10 Cows and Sheep. It can be any number combination of the

Clip off 100 pieces of Wool using the Touch Glove. Each sheep has 5 areas on
it that will generate a small wool as you rub away with your stylus. Wool
takes 7 days to regrow, so it is a very slow process.
Unless you cheat ;) (thanks to UNoT member Lord_Bap)
Start out with a sheep that has all of it's Wool. Make sure you are inside
of a barn to prevent the passage of time. Equip the Clippers, Touch Glove,
and get ready...
A - Stand next to the sheep and press Y. You'll enter into the sheering mini
game. Rub the stylus in the lower-middle section between the sheep's legs
and STOP when the wool size indicator reads Small. Pocket the Wool you
collected.
B - Start the game again and this time only rub the area around the sheep's
head, in the upper-left corner. Stop again at a Small size Wool.
C - Now this time clip the wool on the sheep's butt. Rub around it's rear
upper-right until the Small size appears again. Stop the mini game.
D - When you press Y to activate the Touch Glove you will have a large
section of clipable wool in the middle of the sheep's back, and 2 more on
each of the sheep's legs. Start from the *bottom* of the upper-middle
section and rub horizontally until you get a Small size. This will not take
very long at all and you'll get a Small Wool with just a few swipes of your
stylus and a score of about 1500 points or so. Ignore the Wool in the
lower-right and lower-left.
E - Activate the game again and you'll discover that the Wool you have
clipped in the lower-middle between the sheep's legs HAS GROWN BACK and the
Wool that was on the lower-right back legs is gone. Sheer the lower-middle
section until you register a small Wool and quit.
F - When you try again you'll discover that the lower-left right leg Wool is
still there as well as the Wool in the upper-middle section. At this point
start again at step D, where you just swipe a few times on the middle
section to get a small Wool. Then move to step E, D, E, D, E, D, and so on
until you get bored or you finish finding the sprites. The wool will grow
back in a few different areas but ignore all that is not in the lower-middle
and upper-middle sections.
You will loose stamina as you use the Clipper tool, so you may want to stop
and eat every so often to recharge. The last step you left when you take a
break will still be there for you when you get back.
If you need a visual guide to using this technique you can find it at the
following page: http://www.fogu.com/hm6/chan4/sheep_trick.php?p=n

Use the Touch Glove 100 times to acquire milk from your Cows. You can only
milk a Cow once per day and there isn't any sneaky way of cheating to get

you have, the larger Milk you'll receive.

Have 10 Chickens and/or Ducks. You will need to have 3 poultry barns built
in order to fit all of them.
*--------------*
Woohoo
*--------------*
Have 20 Chickens and/or Ducks, but you can only have 7 barns total! You will
need to have *5* poultry barns built to house them all, which conflicts with
Red Ribbon's required 3 barns for the Cows and Sheep.
It's a good idea to acquire Woohoo first, since poultry are cheaper than the
livestock. Once you have the sprite unlocked you can hire Gotz to demolish
some of your poultry barns, then hire him again to build the livestock barns
you'll need to meet Red Ribbon's requirements.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 3.0 - Orange, Lumber team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
The orange team will collect Wood and Stone Lumber from the rocks and sticks
that appear in the valley every day. The team will not be able to collect
anything until you have the Wood and Lumber Sheds built! The sprites need to
have somewhere to place the lumber they collect and they're too small to put
it in their pockets like you can with your own Rucksack.
The Lumber team can not collect Fodder material or make Golden Lumber
magically appear. They also do not pick up weeds from the fields you hire
them to work on.
As the team collects material for you to build with, the stones and sticks
they destroy *will* count towards the required totals needed to unlock the
the other members of their own team. They can not free themselves though, so
you will need to at least help out with your own Ax and Hammer every so
Members of the yellow team will pamper your animals and help to increase
their heart levels. The more hearts an animal has, the better it will do at
the animal festivals that happen every year. Also the poultry will lay
different sizes of Eggs depending on how many hearts they have earned.
Each day you can earn Friendship Points with your animals. Each "heart" an
animal has is worth 100 FP, with a max of 1000 FP (10 hearts).
+1 pt for leaving them outside for 5 hours in sunny weather
+1 point for talking to/lifting your animal once a day
+1 to +3 pts for washing your livestock with the Touch Glove (depending on
your score)
+1 to +3 pts for "petting" your animals using the Touch Glove (depending on
your score)
When you use the yellow team the most points you can earn for washing or
petting is 1. The sprites don't use the Touch Glove feature so you won't
earn 2 points (green heart) or 3 points (red heart) like you would during
the mini games.
After you have collected many of the yellow team members they will activate
a bonus job. The team will be able to water any crops that you have growing
on your farm, much like the red team does with harvesting your crops.

*--------------*
Have 15 births on your farm. The easiest way to do this is with hatching
Chickens and Ducks. When you place an Egg in the hatching bin it only takes
3 days for the Egg to hatch into a baby bird. That is much faster than
having to wait 21 days for a Cow or Sheep to give birth.
*--------------*
Kali
*--------------*
Talk/lift your animals 50 times *without* having the Touch Glove equipped.
If you were wearing the glove then you would activate the mini petting game
instead. When you stand next to a Cow or Sheep and press the A button you'll
see "(animal name) seems well today" depending on it's state of health. With
a Chicken or a Duck you only have to lift it above your head and set it
back down again.
You can talk/lift your animals once a day.
*--------------*
Johnny
*--------------*
Talk/lift your animals 350 times *without* having the Touch Glove equipped.
*--------------*
Brushy
*--------------*
Talk/left your animals 900 times *without* having the Touch Glove equipped.
*--------------*
Mouton
*--------------*
Pet your animals with the Touch Glove 50 times. This is basically the same
thing you did with Kali, Johnny, and Brushy but with the glove equipped
this time. When you talk to an animal with the Touch Glove you will activate
the petting mini game. Rub the animal with your stylus to pet it, but watch
out for the areas where the animal doesn't like to be touched. If you see
3 skull icons appear in the upper right corner of your screen then the game
will end early. The heart icons will counteract any skulls that you might
accidentally bump into.
You can only rub/pet your animals once a day.
*--------------*
Boohoo
*--------------*
Pet your animals with the Touch Glove 100 times.
*--------------*
Canal
*--------------*
Pet your animals with the Touch Glove 300 times.
*--------------*
Meow
*--------------*
Pet your animals with the Touch Glove 500 times.
*--------------*
Beta
*--------------*
Wash your Cows and Sheep 50 times with the Brush tool and the Touch Glove.
Buy the Brush from Yodel Ranch along with the Touch Glove. The Brush tools
lets you suds up your livestock and wash them clean once a day. To give your
creatures a bath have both tools equipped and press Y next to an animal. You
can then swipe your stylus around it's body to create soap bubbles. There is
no time limit to this mini game but the bigger the score, the better chance
you'll earn 3 FP that day.
Luckily to unlock the sprites frozen by this requirement you don't need to
reach a specific score. You could simply swipe a few times across the animal
and then end the game to save time. The Dog, Cat, and Horse can be washed if
you need more animals to suds up. You can't wash Chickens and Ducks!
*--------------*
Aiylee
*--------------*
Wash your Cows and Sheep 100 times with the Brush tool and the Touch Glove.
*--------------*
Pompom
*--------------*
Wash your Cows and Sheep 300 times with the Brush tool and the Touch Glove.
*--------------*
Zoo
*--------------*
Wash your Cows and Sheep 500 times with the Brush tool and the Touch Glove.

*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 5.0 - Green, Harvest team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
Green sprites will pick any crop or wild item that is growing in the areas
you hire them to work in. If the crops haven't matured yet they won't have
anything to do, but they will work on picking the crops for the full term
of their hire schedule. The Harvest team won't pick up Weeds even though
they are shippable items, but they will pluck flowers and wild grasses.
Since the sprites are smaller in stature than you are, they can easily fit
between the squares of crops you have planted. The sprites can collect the
crops that you can not reach on your own.
LEADER
*--------------*
Forest
*--------------*
Call Gray on your telephone and have him upgrade your Sickle tool to the
Mystrile level. The first time you swing your new tool, Forest will return
from the other world.
*--------------*
Fraw
*--------------*
Ship 1000 items. This can be *anything* you can toss into the shipment bin
and send off to Thomas. Fish, crops, and even Weeds count towards the amount
needed to unlock this sprite. When you toss in your 1000th item he will make
an appearance.
The nice thing about the "Ship X number of things" sprites is they will
naturally appear if you are trying to unlock Pluto. Since you need to ship
100,000 of 1 item for the Station sprite to appear you will have these other
fellows unlocked by the time you reach Pluto's requirement.
*--------------*
Ridge
*--------------*
*--------------*
Vail
*--------------*
Ship a Bell Pepper. You can grow this crop in the Fall for 150 Medals.
*--------------*
Matthew
*--------------*
After you have your tools upgraded to Mystrile (hello Forest) the cursed
versions will appear in the 3rd Mine. Have the Church remove the evil curse
from your Sickle and at that point Matthew will return from the other world.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 6.0 - Indigo, Fishing team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
The casting sprites will stand by the water's edge and haul up fish for you.
You can see when they're fishing by how often they sparkle by the water. You
can't hire the sprites to work around Romana's mansion since there's no
water areas where fish live.
Indigo sprites won't catch Bottled Messages, Pirate Treasure, or Fish
Fossils. They will catch a LOT of small fish, Empty Cans, Boots, and Fish
Bones. Luckily the garbage they pull up counts towards unlocking the fellow
members of their team. Anything they catch automatically is transported to
your shipping bin, so watch the amounts in your shipped items lists to see
how much they've been able to bring in.
LEADER
*--------------*
Blue
*--------------*
Firs you'll need to unlock the 1st Hot Spring by activating Flora's blue
heart event or waiting until you own child is born. When the spa has been
built you merely have to walk around to the gap in the fence and cast your
fishing line into the spa water. Blue will appear right after you pull your
line back in.
*--------------*
Paige
*--------------*
Catch 50 items (fish or garbage) with your fishing rod. The team mates can
fulfill this requirement on their own, but you will have to cast your own
line and catch something in order for the missing sprites to return.
*--------------*
Fry
*--------------*
Catch 500 items with your fishing rod.
*--------------*
Rod
*--------------*
Catch 1000 items with your fishing rod.
*--------------*
Gigi
*--------------*
Catch 5000 items with your fishing rod.
*--------------*
Pedro
*--------------*
Catch 10,000 items with your fishing rod.
*--------------*
Tricky
*--------------*
Catch 50,000 items with your fishing rod.
*--------------*
Sammy
*--------------*
Find a cursed fishing rod inside of the 3rd mine, after your other tools
have been upgraded to Mystrile. Call the church and pay 100,000 G to remove
the curse. Once that has been completed Sammy will return from the other
world.
*--------------*
Fisher
*--------------*
When you have Gray upgrade your fishing rod up to Mystrile level, the first
time you use it the sprite will return.
*--------------*
Yacht
*--------------*
The duck pond can be built by Gotz if you have 600 pieces of Stone Lumber.
You can opt to have the material already on hand and pay him 100,000 G for
labor, or you can buy the lumber at the same time you hire him and pay only
220,000 G. Gotz will arrive the next morning so you can place the pond
anywhere on your farmland.
When he finishes the pond you have to cast your fishing rod into the water
to free up Yacht.
*--------------*
Riviera
*--------------*
Besides the duck pond, there will be another small body of water on your own
farmland that you use for filling up your Watering Can. If you try to fish
inside of the pond next to your horse stall you'll find a missing sprite.
*--------------*
Reese
*--------------*
Since you can find Blue by fishing in the 1st Hot Spring, you can also find
a sprite if you try to fish in the 2nd Hot Spring. Unlock the 2nd spa by
jumping in and out of the 1st one 100 times.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 7.0 - Purple, Healing team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
At first it will seem that this team is practically useless. They will only
recharge 10% of your stamina when you talk to them. It takes some time, but
you can eventually train them to recharge *100%* of your stamina every 30
in-game minutes! You won't have to wait in a Hot Spring to recharge, eat
expensive food, or stand around doing nothing while you wait for the
Earrings to work their magic.
This team is very tedious to unlock and it takes a lot of doing-nothing
time. You may want to try for these guys during the Winter season when there
is very little activity in the valley.
LEADER
*--------------*
Violetto
*--------------*
Use the 1st Hot Spring for 200 hours for 1 hour or more at a time. The
tricky thing is you can't just sit in the spa for 200 hours and hope that
Violetto appears. You need to jump in, wait an hour, jump out, jump back in,
and repeat the process over and over until he makes his appearance when you
exit the spa.
To unlock the 1st Hot Spring you need to activate Flora's Blue Heart event
or wait until you have had a child. Either way you will find this spring in
the southeast corner of the valley, near the Barney Circus grounds.
You will want to spend more then 1 hour in the Hot Spring to make sure that
you've met the required time. The game only allows you to see when 10 minute
intervals have passed by, making it difficult to stay exactly 1 hour inside
of the water. If you had jumped in at 12:00 and the out at 1:00, you may
have made the hour needed (12:01 to 1:04 = 63 minutes) or you may have
missed it by a very small amount (12:03 to 1:02 = 59 minutes). Stay in the
water for 70 minutes (12:00 to 1:10) to ensure that you get the full hour
necessary.
*--------------*
Nette
*--------------*
Hire the Healing team and ask them to recharge your stamina 100 times. You
can ask them to heal you once every 30 minutes in-game. Again you have the
problem that you can't see *exactly* when 30 minutes has gone by, but you do
have an indicator that is close enough. Your character will lay down on the
ground and begin to snooze after 30 minutes of no activity from your end. If
you keep an eye on his standing/sleeping then you know enough time has gone
by and you can ask the Sprites to heal you again.
On the other hand you could also run around the valley and then try to
remember to return to the team after 30 minutes have gone by. It's easier to
just stand there and talk to them every time you wake up from sleepy time.
*--------------*
Whitney
*--------------*
Hire the Healing team and ask them to recharge your stamina 500 times.
*--------------*
Juna
*--------------*
Hire the Healing team and ask them to recharge your stamina 750 times.
*--------------*
Sante
*--------------*
Hire the Healing team and ask them to recharge your stamina 1000 times.
*--------------*
Anime
*--------------*
Eat 30 wild grasses. The plants will grow in the fields outside of your own
farm every day. Some will decrease your stamina (red) and others will help
to recharge you (purple). You just have to pick it up off the ground and
press the X button to eat it. The wild grasses grow every season, and even
the black grass from the Mines count towards the total necessary to find
Anime.
*--------------*
Powery
*--------------*
Eat 80 wild grasses.
*--------------*
Koto
*--------------*
Eat 150 wild grasses.
*--------------*
Spirity
*--------------*
Purchase 1 drink from the Blue Bar. Griffin's bar is open in the evening
hours except for Wednesday. He and Muffy have a large list of items you can
buy and consume on the spot. You have to buy something other than water
(cheapskate!) for the sprite to appear. On the plus side, drinks you buy
from the Bar will help to increase Muffy's heart color as well.
*--------------*
Souly
*--------------*
Purchase 50 drinks from the Blue Bar. You don't have to do this once a day.
You can stand there and spend the money all in 1 night if you wanted to.
*--------------*
Carey
*--------------*
Use the 2nd Hot Springs for 200 hours for 1 hour or more at a time. This is
the same process as finding Violetto, but with the spa next to the Sprite
Company Tree instead.
*--------------*
Sacci
*--------------*
Use the 2nd Hot Spring for 500 hours for 1 hour or more at a time.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 8.0 - Blue, Watering team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
The watering sprites will sprinkle some H2O on your growing plants so you
don't have to. If it's raining outside they're not going to do any work, and
they can't water anything you might be growing in your basements or behind
the giant waterfall. All this team does is water, and once they're done for
the day they lay around doing nothing.
LEADER
*--------------*
Ceruleano
*--------------*
There are 3 of the Watering team sprites hidden in the ground on other crop
fields in the valley. Each person's game has these 3 points randomly
generated, so it will be different locations for everyone who plays HMDS.
The "secret square" sprites are not located on your own farmland, in the
basements, or behind the waterfall.
To find a secret square sprite you must clear the field of debris, till the
soil, and then use your watering can on the fresh soil. If a sprite is
hidden on that spot then it will appear. There are 12 valley-located fields
to till up and sprinkle water on. You don't have to plant any seeds, just
water the dirt. The secret squares will not move from day-to-day so there
is no need to backtrack and water a field you have already covered.
It's easier to find the secret squares when you have high level tools. It
takes less effort to clear, till, and water the fields when you can swing
and cover 30 squares at one time.
*--------------*
Chorori
*--------------*
Water 1000 squares of crop land. The team themselves can do the work (just
like the fishing team) but you have to use your Watering Can to make the
missing sprite appear. There is no indicator to let you know how many
squares of land they have covered, but they will water any untilled soil
spot. Even if there are no plants growing on that particular square the
watering team will sprinkle H2O on it.
*--------------*
Walter
*--------------*
Water 5000 squares of crop land.
*--------------*
Rainy
*--------------*
Water 10,000 squares of crop land.
*--------------*
Joro
*--------------*
Water 30,000 squares of crop land.
*--------------*
Patty
*--------------*
Water 50,000 squares of crop land.
*--------------*
Misty
*--------------*
Fill your Watering Can 10 times. You just have to stand next to a body of
water and press the Y button to fill up your empty can.
*--------------*
Roli
*--------------*
Hire Gray to upgrade your Watering Can to Mystrile level. When he returns
your tool to your rucksack, you can use it and find the sprite.
*--------------*
Maddie
*--------------*
When all of your tools are at Mystrile level you can find the cursed
versions inside the 3rd mine. Call the church and have the cursed removed
from the cursed Watering Can.
*--------------*
Karaf
*--------------*
Investigate the watering pond next to the horse stable on your farm. You
just have to stand next to it and press the A button. Karaf is probably the
4th sprite you'll find in the game.
*--------------*
Eviran
*--------------*
A "secret square" sprite, just like Ceruleano.
*--------------*
Owen
*--------------*
A "secret square" sprite, just like Ceruleano.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 9.0 - Brown, Miscellaneous team
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
You can't hire the brown sprites to work on your farm. This team takes care
of the maintenance in the Sprite Company Tree, the Casino, and the path
leading out of Forget-Me-Not Valley. These sprites don't have documented
birthdays nor can you give them any gifts to increase their Friendship
Points.
*--------------*
Guts
*--------------*
The very 1st sprite you'll find in the game. He automatically makes an
appearance during the introduction of the game. Guts will stand behind the
counter in the Company Tree and lends out the sprites to you. You could say
he is the boss of all day laborer sprites.
When you talk to Guts he will ask you what team you would like to hire. The
price he charges for a days worth of work will appear to the right of the
team's name. Once you pick your team he will ask where you want them to
work. You can select multiple locations and the sprites will move from spot
to spot as they work. Once you pick your team and your locations, Guts will
tell you the total cost if you choose to hire the team for 1, 3, or 7 days.
You can only have one sprite team hired at a time, but you can have a 2nd
one cued up and ready to go if you talk to Guts before your hired team
finishes their job.
*--------------*
Roller
*--------------*
Roller is the pit boss of the Sprite Casino. The mini games won't be
activated until you find him. On or after the 8th of Spring in your first
year, walk across the bridge that separates the Main Area and Vesta's Farm.
Once you cross the bridge Roller will make an appearance and show you where
you can find the Casino.
His Medal booth is located in the left corner of the Casino. You can talk to
him and exchange your Gold for Medals, or even swap winning Medals for
prizes.
-
The Godhand and Miracle Glove items won't appear in Roller's shop until you
have purchased a Red Cloak. The Godhand allows you to harvest a crop via
the touch screen from anywhere in the valley, inside or outside. The Miracle
Glove is the same item from Harvest Moon GBC 3 that allowed you to send
items instantly to the shipping bin by throwing them on the ground.
*--------------*
Hops
*--------------*
The Poker game sprite can be found if you investigate the water well just to
the left of Griffin's Blue Bar.
*--------------*
Tep
*--------------*
In the yard of the Inn you'll find a potbelly stove. You will need to hop
over the fence to reach it. Investigate the stove to find the Blackjack
sprite.
*--------------*
Jum
*--------------*
In front of Romana's mansion is a large water fountain. Stand in front of
the fountain and press A to discover Jum. Now you will be able to play the
Memory game at the Casino.
*--------------*
Jet
*--------------*
Next to Guts will be the Company's store, where you can buy accessories,
music records, and Harvest Cards for collecting. To find Jet and open the
store, go upstairs in the Inn. In the back hallway you'll find the orange
crate Van uses for his own traveling shop. Stand on the north-side of the
crate and then press the A button to bring Jet back.
-
*--------------*
Jackie
*--------------*
This is a very easy sprite to bring back to your own world. On the eastern
side of Forget-Me-Not Valley is a path that leads to Mineral Town. If you
try to walk up that path you will bump into Jackie.
He will *never* let you go up the pathway. Your work is never completed in
the valley so there's no vacation time for you!
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 10.0 - White, Baby sprite
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
The little sprite (named just "Baby") will return after you have rescued 60
sprites and freed the Harvest Goddess. Go into the Sprite Company Tree and
investigate the pots to the left of Guts' counter. The baby will live inside
of the largest pot. You can give it gifts and it will pop out for a moment
until it receives your item. Then it goes back into the pot.
Supposably if you give Baby 255 gifts it will increase the amount of money
you have on-hand, but I have never seen the little rascal do much of
anything.
*--------------*
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Part 11.0 - FAQ Update History
*------------------------------------------------------------------------*
*--------------*
Version 1.0
October 27, 2006
I have seen a lot of question about where to locate the missing sprites,
especially from players who just really want to collect the 60 required for
marriage. Hopefully this FAQ will make it a little clearer how to recover
the Sprites from another world.

1. UPDATES (HMDS1)
Version 1.00: the rough layout of the guide. Thats all I can say.
Verson 1.01: ok, I've added more stuff to everything. Still no emails, but I
have posted questions frequantly asked in the message boards.
Version 1.02:
little error.

Now these are not Mineral Town girls and your game will not end
when you marry one of them. These girls are special girls that are
unlike the normal 5. The child you may have has a random appearance
that the 5 girls could have. They are all boys. Normally the girls in this
section of SPECIAL GIRLS are required to do all these wierd stuff, but
Leia (Mermaid) will only need you to have a duck pond and be
friends with Daryl before you may even see her.
HARVEST GODDESS: ok marrying the harvest goddess like
FoMT require a lot of things done. The heart events will
explain what requirements are needed. Of course, the
black heart event will be acheived because you need to find
60 sprites in order to bring the Harvest Goddess back so
it will take a while to marry her. She won't even live in your
house so what's the point of the big bed Natsume?!
(SPRING 08)
BEWARE!! the requirements also needed you to ship every item
you can possibly get, including the rare buckwheat flour.
You may and may not get this item (thanks jehanne argentee
for correcting me) and the necklace does not appear on the
mining list.

INTRODUCTION
==============================================================================
==
Hello my good reader, welcome to another TripleJump FAQ, I'm sure you are sick
and tired of them by now, but please bear with me. As this one hopefully won't
be as miserable for a failure as the last few :P. This FAQ is for the game
Harvest Moon: DS. A Money FAQ, more specifically. You may know me as "JMM"
from
Ushi No Tane Forums. Where I frequently type up help guides. I wrote this ages
ago, and decided to revamp it a little and submit it to GameFAQs and other
sites
I contribute to.
I first got addicted to this game series by the Friends of Mineral Town
Harvest
Moon game, and what wasn't to like? You got to run your own farm, going around
town and sell things to the people. In addition, you can raise animals, get
married and make friends. After that classic, I picked up A Wonderful Life
as a reward for such a nice report card. (A in everything but Art and P.E.,
which were B's!) I enjoyed it thoroughly. I mean, I had a sleepover, and that
is the only game we played, from 7:00PM-4:30AM. A couple months later I nabbed
AnWL for my birthday, and a long time later, I picked up this game.
You can send me an email if you have a question at:
triplejumpfaqs[at]gmail[dot]com. However, PLEASE keep it money making related,
I am not a total HMDS master. If you want info on other aspects, please view
www.fogu.com/hm6 as it is a wonderful site jampacked with information on the
game.
**UPDATE**
I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all the readers out there who
voted
and made this guide a reccomended guide, giving it the star status by the
name.
You are the reason I write FAQs!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
==============================================================================
==
These are commonly asked questions I have received in email. Check this
section
before emailing me about it, and if it still isn't there, read the rest of the
FAQ because it is loaded with information.
Q. How do I unlock Van?
A. Van will come to the Inn on days that end in a 3 or 8. He will be upstairs
at
the back at 11:00AM, and you can sell him items that can't be sold normally.
Q. How do I unlock the Casino?
A. There are a few sprites you need to unlock to get the Casino. After the
first
ever 8th of spring, attempt to walk across the bridge to Vesta's farm. You
will
find the first Sprite which unlocks the casino.
However, you will still need to get more sprites to play the games. You find
one in the well to the left of Griffin's bar if you search it on the right
side
of the well. Another is in the stove in the area behind the Inn (jump over the
fence) and the last is in the fountain at Romana's. Search the fountain by
going
to the front (bottom) of it.
Q. How do I win for sure at the Casino?
A. You don't, its all based on chance and probability.
Q. How do I get a better price from Van?
A. Start selling an item and when he names his price, don't sell, then try to
sell again. It might go down, it might go up or it might stay the same. Who
knows what it will do?
Q. Why can't I do the glitch?
A. Some games can't do the glitch unfortunately.
Q. How do I level crops?
A. You level crops by planting more than one bag of seeds on the same soil.
site are worth around 2,000G each. A pretty penny when you have a rucksack
full
of them.
-------------------------------This is the same thing, but has a lot more detail. Thanks to Failisse:
To get A LOT of gold at one time, my suggestion is that you go to the dig site
(Where you find jewelry, ect) at the beginning of the day (6 am); make sure
you
have 100 stamina and 0 fatigue as well as 4 bodigizers or an equivalent of 10
indigo grasses.
- Save when you enter dig site, and begin digging with hoe until you find an
item (jewelry, ect).
- When you find the first item, DO NOT SAVE; remember where that item is, and
reload,
- Find the item spot and dig ONCE to get the item.
-Save once you have it and THEN continue digging.
- Once you find another item, remember the place, reload, and dig ONCE again,
only where you found the item.
- Repeat process, until you have searched entire cave and found no more items
(By doing it this way you save A LOT of stamina; one dig= 2 stamina points
gone)
- After that cave is finished, QUICKLY run out and then back in so you dont
lose time.
- Then repeat process over again, until you have cleared enough caves, that
your
stamina is at 0 or -2 (fatigue 2).
- This is the time to use your bodigizer or grasses. Drink 2 bodigizers, or an
equivalent of 5 indigo grasses (NOTE: Indigo grasses boost you 20 Stamina
points
up); then repeat process until you have used up all bodigizers and or indigo
grasses.
- After you have collected enough items at the dig site, go to
10
am (on a day Van is there), go up to his booth, SAVE, and THEN
as high a price as you can get them. If Van does not offer the
you want, say dont sell, and try again after trying to sell
Vans shop at
sell items, for
amount of gold
another item.
- Try selling him your dig site items until you get the desired price.
Sell ALL of them, and youll get A TON of money. Just be sure to save ONLY
AFTER
you get the amount of gold you want.
Remember:
Earrings
Bracelets
Necklaces
Broaches
All sell for 2,000 gold each. An example Ill give of my profit is this:
I sold 6 broaches for 19,000 gold for all of them: The original price, if I
had
shipped them would have been this :
6 x 2,000= 12,000 gold
So basically I got an extra 7,000 gold for ONLY those items, I got A LOT more
money by selling the rest of the dig site items for high prices. Overall, I
got
about 200,000 gold by selling only 8 earrings, 6 broaches, 8 necklaces,
5 bracelets, and 11 skin lotions.
Once again Ill say THIS IS A TEDIOUS AND REPETATIVE TASK, but it is
DEFINITELY
WORTH IT. I am only on my 14th day of Summer, in Year 1, and I have already my
animal and bird barn, as well as a pond; with one sheep, one cow, two
chickens,
and one duck. And I am currently having my house upgraded. I have a LOT of
other
things that I was able to gain by using this strategy of fast money making. It
is a good strategy for people who are just starting the game, and want to
obtain
money fast for whatever reason.
-----Mining
------ Getting the Alexandrite and Pink Diamonds at the floors of the second mine
that are multiples of 3 or 10 and floor 100 or lower over and over again, then
selling to Van is a very good money making idea. But it is very real life time
consuming. Bring Bodigers and Turbojolts. Use the save and reload trick a lot
to
ensure falling on the right floors, also, using the save and reboot the system
to get rid of the monsters is a good idea.
- Selling the cursed items that you can find in the mine is profitable from.
Better after you bless them though. Sell to Van.
- Using the Miracle Gloves, you can sell anything you get in the mine by
throwing
it on the ground. Although selling the Miracle Gloves would be a better idea
for
profit, if you have them.
------Fishing
-------
- Catch as many as you can and sell to Van. You can also hire the sprites
to work for you as this. Getting all of them to do it is profitable. Pirate
Treasures and Fish Fossils are reccomended. When available.
------Animals
------- Buy a chicken, raise it to a decent level of affection. Then incubate an
egg.
Ship the eggs in between hatching and whenever there is an incubation open,
put
an egg in. Then as a chicken hatches, raise it to a grown chicken, then sell
to
the poultry farm. Easy money.
- Cows are a self-sustaining group of animals. Make a fenced in area. Mine
looks
like a barn, with a silo, then the bird barn nearby. Then the whole place is
surrounded completely by stone fence. Put grass squares in. I have roughly 6070
squares of grass and 4 cows. I leave the cows outside. The grass regrows at a
rate that they will never go hungry. Be sure to brush, touch and talk to them.
Ship the milk. Cows are more profitable than sheep, in my opinion. (This
paragraph was written long ago.)
************************** MAJOR MONEY MAKER BELOW!
The major cow scam is a great way to rake in dough. There is a glitch, instead
of leveling up your milker one level at a time (it takes years), you can get
it
by leveling it up to level 1. The Bar goes up little by little each time you
use it, you don't even have to use it on the cows. After they are at level 1,
each use makes it go up by 1 level. That's really easy. As you have a level 99
milker, you get 100 milks per use. Or if you use the touch screen to increase
the size, you get 99 milks that are larger.
So, here is what you do: Get as many cows as you can and raise them until they
are large enough to give milk. Use the milker on them to get massive amounts
of
milk. Turn those milks into Cheese with the maker. If you have 10 cows, you
can
get up to 297,000G a day with just medium milk. A very good way to make cash.
That's 8,910,000G a season and 35,640,000G a year. Easy as pie!
************************** END MAJOR MONEY MAKER
- There is also a glitch where you can milk your horse. Here it is, it's by
"TheJelloFarmer" of Ushi No Tane forums:
--Step 1. Without the touch glove, brush your horse
Step 2. While the Brushing switch tool for milker or shears
Step 3. You get the milk, some say they get a higher lvl milk than usual.
--This can be used on sheep and any brushable animals. It can be done infinite
times a day. It's a good one, but still a glitch. I don't like glitches much.
----Trees
----- In the long run, tree's can pay off. Plant them around the parks throughout
town in area's that grow few forageable plants, and mostly weeds. Get the
fruit
a year or two later. The reason these are planted in other areas is so that
you
save farmland for crops.
--------------------Low Income Strategies
--------------------- While plucking weed's and junk from your fields, pocket them. Then sell
them.
It merits 1G for each one. It may be a rip off, but it's better than nothing.
With the amount of room the rucksack has, there is little loss.
- If you are coming to winter soon, mow your grass over and sell some of the
fodder. These strategies are for bums, but who cares.
- If you are desperate for dough, sell all your fodder and animals and items
that you do not need. This is only for DESPERATE Folks. I mean if you need
money
for a thing before a certain date, not because you are out. Money will come
back
in days. It just takes time.
==============================================================================
==
EXPENSES
==============================================================================
==
The last section was about trying to make more money, this is about trying to
save more money but cutting down on prices.
--------------Seeds and Items
--------------- If possible, get from the sprite's casino for medals. Which are easier to
reproduce than money.
--------Buildings
--------- Easily the most money saving option, but still some reliablility is wood.
You
can avoid storms by saving every night before bed, then checking the weather
in
the morning. If it looks bad, reload. Otherwise, Stone is the best option.
Marriage
-------- Marriage can get expensive. You have two options: Hold out for a while
before
marrying, or rush through the whole process as fast as you can. The first
option
allows you to have a long, stable money amount. While the second one starts
you
off poor, but then the money comes rushing in, as you do not have to see a
girl
every day once they are a high level. The second option is better, as it also
gives you time to get those darned Harvest Sprites.

THE BILLION GOLD GLITCH
==============================================================================
==
Everyone is screaming "How do I get this glitch! I'm a loser and I want to
ruin
my game". Using this glitch will cause you to lose all the fun in it. The
reason
Harvest Moon DS is so fun is because you always have to save up for something
new. Most people who use this eventually lose interest. So actually play your
game instead.
However, if you want to use it, fine with me.
Note that some games DO NOT have this glitch. Some do, but don't always work.
Keep trying.
ALSO NOTE THAT IF YOU EMAIL ME WITH REQUESTS FOR HOW TO DO THIS, I WILL TAKE
YOUR EMAIL AND SIGN IT UP ON AS MANY MAILING LISTS I CAN GET MY HANDS ON!
Don't.
Seriously.
Having never performed the glitch myself, these are what others said worked
for
them. Try doing the tips written.
Enkouen wrote:

harvest_girl9364 wrote:
You don't have to buy the chicken feed. I didn't. All I did was hire the

a
stone through my main shipping bin, and it worked.
Thejellofarmer wrote:
I only get Billion Glitch with them (the sprites) at beach (hired at the
beach).
Basically, you hire the sprite fishing team in winter, buy 99 chicken feed and
ship a rock through your horse. Do it with no game in the GameBoy Advance slot
of your DS. This is what works. If these don't work, you're game probably does
not have this game.
***UPDATE***
I have received a number of emails about this. Apparently not all the steps
are
needed. I'm still going to keep them there however, just in case. The
following
people told me this.
Bob Powers
HMDS_girl1616
Mary
Now get lost, cheater!
--------------------ANOTHER MONEY GLITCH!
--------------------Spacechase0 sent me an email about another glitch:
I heard about a mini-game when examining the dog house at 4:44, and I tried
it.
When I one, I got the diploma and my money was upped to 1 billion G! I am not
sure if this was just a really rare glitch or one with every game, but I
thought
I would tell you so you could add it if anyone else proved it true.
He then followed up with a side effect:
It might have caused this, I don't know, but I was on the phone and I spent
some
of that 1 billion, and my top screen went black when I came off the phone
(Luckily I knew which way the door was and walked out, which fixed it). Just
thought you might add the side effect.
If anyone else gets information on this, let me know.

I'll

how much you have, what it means, what damages it and what foods are best at
recovering stamina and fatigue.

1. What are Stamina and Fatigue?
================================
Stamina and fatigue are the game mechanics whereby the player character's
energy is measured. When completely rested, the player has 100 stamina and 0
fatigue. As the player uses tools, first stamina deteriorates, and then, when
it reaches 0, fatigue increases. You will never have 0 of both; when stamina
reaches 0, fatigue automatically gets 2 points, even if you don't have 0
fatigue.
When you reach 80 fatigue, a little speech bubble appears above the
character's
head with a skull in it. When you reach 100 fatigue, the character faints and
wakes up the following morning, either at 8:00am or 10:00am.
================================
2. Measuring Stamina and Fatigue
================================
-----------------------2.1 Character Animations
-----------------------As your stamina goes down and your fatigue increases, the player character
occasionally expresses his tiredness through mini animations. These are as
follows:
Stamina
50
Wipes forehead with handkerchief
20
Bends over and puts hands on knees
5
Sits down on the floor
0
Face turns green and character falls down
Fatigue
50
Shakes head with right hand to temple
80
Sits down and shakes head. A speech bubble containing a skull appears
over his head
100
Face turns green and character faints
You can use these animations to estimate how much stamina and fatigue you
have.
However, occasionally when picking items up or moving them from the rucksack
to
the hold item slot the character will sit down or wipe his forehead when
stamina and fatigue are not at any of these points.
---------------2.2 Truth bangle
---------------You can get the truth bangle, which when worn in the blue slot in the rucksack
screen will tell you exactly how much stamina and fatigue you have. In order
to
get it, you need 2000 medals, and you can buy it from Roller in the casino in
the Harvest Sprite Company Tree (source of info: Cherubae's wonderful Harvest
Sprite Locations guide).
====================================
3. What affects stamina and fatigue?
====================================
--------3.1 Tools
--------Using tools at different levels uses different amounts of stamina, as follows:
Normal
Copper
Silver
2
4
5
Gold
Mystrile
8
10
This information is for the starting tools only, and not the hoe. The hoe
works
as follows:

Gold
Mystrile
2
3
4
5
7
4
2
8

2
Fatigue works slightly differently. No matter how much you charge the tool,
once you've exhausted stamina, fatigue only goes up by 2 points per tool use.
This includes ancillary tools like the brush, milker and clipper. Medicine
doesn't cause fatigue.
Using cursed tools is really a bad idea, because fully charged it can take
your
stamina down to zero, even from 100, and also causes 12 fatigue. The cursed
fishing rod caused 10 fatigue plus 2 stamina, though I didn't think to charge
it up at all.
Blessed and mythic tools each work differently, causing stamina deterioration
at the following rates:

Hammer
Hoe

The best food for recovering stamina and fatigue is thus indigo grass,
followed
by white grass. My preference would be for white grass, however, since it
recovers both stamina and fatigue, whereas indigo grass is strongly in favour
of fatigue.
Matsutake mushrooms are also very good, but unfortunately fairly rare and only
found in autumn. And stay well away from toadstools - the white mushrooms.
They
do some serious damage to your stamina.
The best ground crop for recovery is the strawberry. Though pineapples also
have the same recovery figures, they cost more to grow and ship for much
higher
prices, whereas the strawberries are worth only 30g each at level 1, so your
finances won't much miss them. Also, it's easier to produce ground crops in
large quantities than it is to go running all over the town every day in
search of mushrooms and white grass, etc. With one patch of 8 strawberries in
my basement, plus a few patches in my field in spring, I have managed to build
up a stockpile of over 800 strawberries in under a year.
Also, levelled up crops don't give better stamina and fatigue recovery. I have
tested up to level 20 crops.
--------------3.4 Hot springs
--------------Going in the first hot spring causes your fatigue to reduce at a rate of 1 per
game minute. It doesn't affect your stamina, however. The second hot spring
heals your stamina at the same rate, but does not affect fatigue.
----------------3.5 Rain and snow
----------------If it's raining or snowing outside, you gain 1 fatigue every time you use a
tool while you still have stamina, if you're outside. If you use a tool after
you've run out of stamina, 1 fatigue gets added to normal fatigue increase.
If there's a storm outside and you can't go out, however, stamina and fatigue
deterioration are the same as for a sunny day, for example if you use tools in
your basement.
---------------------------------3.6 Harvest sprites - healing team
---------------------------------Once you've unlocked at least one of the healing team (see Cherubae's Harvest
Sprite Locations guide or darkrangeresp's Walkthrough for how to unlock them)
you can hire the healing team for one of the map squares. When you talk to a
member of the healing team, they can heal you from 10% to 100%, depending on
the team's skill. You can talk to them every 30 minutes of game time (source
of information: Cherubae's Harvest Sprite Locations guide and darkrangeresp's
Walkthrough)
-----------3.7 Sleeping
-----------When you go to sleep at night, unless there's an evening festival or, after
you're married, on your birthday, your wife's birthday, your child's birthday
or your wedding anniversary, you recover all stamina and some fatigue. On
festivals, anniversaries, and birthdays, you wake up the next morning just
the same as when you went to sleep, then when you eat breakfast you get 1 or 2
stamina.
If you get to bed after midnight, not all of your stamina is recovered.
--------3.8 Other
---------
Using the teleport stone (available in the casino in the Harvest Sprite
Company
Tree for 1000 medals (source of info: Cherubae's Harvest Sprite Locations
Guide)) increases fatigue by 2 with each use - every time you hop to another
part of the map.
Using tools late at night - after 10pm - causes 1 fatigue to be added to what
it would normally cost for the tool you're using.
Also, getting beaten up by Flora on her black heart event (if you chose to go
nearer) either costs at least 15 fatigue or causes you to faint outright. I
don't know which it is as I had pretty high fatigue at the time it happened.
But be warned.
Finally, you can get Harvest Goddess and Kappa Earrings which slowly recover
stamina and fatigue (respectively). The cursed earrings, found in the third
mine, damage stamina and fatigue and must be blessed by the temple. When I
have more research on this, I'll make a new section for it. As yet, I know
that the green Kappa Earrings reduce fatigue at a rate of 1 fatigue every
2 game minutes.

used while playing Harvest Moon DS. Thanks especially to Cherubae for the
wonderful Harvest Sprite Locations guide, from which I have gained some info,
and which I used a lot to find the first 60 sprites so I could marry Flora.

The ruck sack menu is partitioned off into 2 sides. The smaller left side
shows
your 3 equip slots.
Red is for tools
Green is for items you pick up
Blue is for special items.
On the right is everything in your inventory. You start off with only 1 page,
but you can buy 2 additional pages via Kaarii's shop (see section 000C4) To
equip an item manually you can either drag it from it's slot to the correct
equip slot, or you can click on it once then click on the spot you want it to
go.
To seperate a single item from a bunch of items, double tap (may take several
attempts) it.
To switch rucksack pages after you've bought them, click the up or down arrows

Clicking on the picture of money on the left side brings up the money
statistics.
There are 3 pages
Top page: This gives details analysis of your earnings and spendings in the
current season as well as your total season earnings and expenditures
Middle Page: Let's you see the total gain and loss in every season.
Final page: This shows the days you earned the most money in a single day, the
most you spend in a single day, your most profitable season, and the season
you
spent the most money in.
-----------------------------------------Section 002D2: Character
Clicking the picture of your character brings up your characters status. This
shows the current level of experience on each tool as well as how many Casino
Medals you currently have.
Section 003D2: Animals
Here you click on the animal that you want to see the health/friendship status
off. Your Dog, Cat, and Horse can never get sick so clicking on their pictures
merely brings up their love meter.
Chicken, ducks, cows, and sheep all can get sick. Clicking on their picture
brings up the option to click on a specific animal and see their hearts and
their health.

After winning a hand you will get the following options
Double or nothing
Play Black Jack
Cancel
Details on the double or nothing option below.
Tips for winning: Know your limits. Your just trying to beat the dealer, you
can't always get the best hands. Don't be afraid to just stand. You have a
better chance of winning with a small hand then if you go bust.
---
The final sprite on the far right in blue is a matching game sprite. The
option
layout is the same as before.
The goal of the game is to match 4 card pairs up before your opponent. If you
do,
your bet is multiplied by 4.
Same double or nothing options after you win
Tips for winning: Pay attention to your opponents move. If you have a problem
remembering a lot of card placement, try to just remember 1 or 2 different
cards.
When you find the matching card you should easily be able to remember where
the
first one was. Then just repeat the process till you win.
--The Double up games are very straight forward. There are two kinds...
High and low
High select
In high and low, a card is flipped over and you have to guess if the next card
is greater then, less then, or equal to. If greater then, choose the first
option, if less then, the second option, and if equal the third.
Tips for winning: Always play the odds in your favor. If the card is a 6 or
lower,
always place your bet on High. If it's 8 or higher, place your bet on low. If
it's a 7 you just have to take a guess.
In high select, a card is flipped over and your job is to pick one of the 4
cards that is higher or equal to that card. The only other option is "cancel"
in
the circle which forfeits your play.
Tips for winning: Don't bother with this one. You are far less likely to
succeed
on larger numbers and you still only double your winnings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Section 00006: Other
Section 000A6: How the love system works.
(taken from a forum post)
First thing is to go to the gambling hall and win or buy 5000 medals (buying
will cost 50,000. I spent 500G worth on medals and won the rest) and purchase
yourself the ring near the bottom with hearts on it. When you have this
equipped
and you talk to someone you will see 2 numbers.
Aijou (love) and Yuukou (friendship). You will only see an Aijou value if you
are talking to an elligible female.
From what I've learned with this ring, I shall impart onto you the ways to get
a
woman's heart up. The most important thing you need to know is that you've
almost assuredly have been littering. The ONLY place in the whole game where
it
is safe to litter is on your farm... NOT all the plots of land around town
that
you can farm in. If you have picked up and thrown a weed, you have lost 200500
Aijou. Each and every time you throw a weed, rock, or tree branch anywhere
that's not your farm you lose tp to 500 Aijou.
From what I can tell so far, women gain 1 heart level ever 10,000 Aijou... so
when every weed drops you 500 Aijou, you can see how it'll quickly add up. To
solve this problem DO NOT THROW WEEDS. Either cut them with your scythe, or
put
them in your ruck sack. You can then dump the weeds safely on your farm or
into
your shipping bin.
Now that you have got the most important step done, you probably don't even
need
to read this next part... use the Heart ring to determine what gift gives the
most Aijou. 500 being the most Aijuu you can get from any 1 single item.
Other things to know about Aijou is that every day or so (I haven't figured it
out exactly yet) You automatically get 200 Aijou if you talk to the girl every
day but only the first time you talk to her that day and only every other day
(I
think)
Extra gifts after the first one do not count towards love points. They do
count
towards the Yuukou points. Yuukou points are the only thing you can get with
normal people, and 100 of these usually unlocks that characters special. Daryl
for instance unlocks his basement at 100 Yuukou. After the first gift that
day,
every gift after is worth only 1/3rd the Yuukou.

Rare but can be very useful if you can find out how to take advantage of them.
1. On rare occations the gathering sprites will cause a glitch that makes you
instantly have 1 billion G.
-----------------------------------------Sectino 003D6: Harmful Glitches
These nasty little buggers are more common then they should be. It seems that
Marvelous Interactive somewhat rushed the game out and their deadly legacy of
this are these game altering bugs.
1.Not being able to leave your house: These seem to occur most in spring and
winter. I've yet to confirm this glitch, but if you do experience it the only
solution is to either go back to bed, or load up a save from the day before
and
try again.
2. Locking basement: This has occured numerous times for me and other people.
When you can build a basement, only make 1. 2 or more causes many lock ups to
occur that you can't get around. Hopefully this will be fixed when it's
released
in europe and the states.
your house, and get a big bed. Then propose to her with the blue feather and
hope for the best ^_^
Q: Why does my girl's Aijuu and Yuukou keep dropping?
A: Are you littering? Something that everyone got used to doing in FoMT is to
pick up weeds and throw them. This is fine if you are on your farm, but all
the
little plots of land in town are NOT safe to throw things. It's considered
littering and everyone in town will grow to dislike you for it. You can lose
as
many as 500 Aijuu from littering (usually more in the 2-300 range) per item.
Make sure you either cut the grass with the scythe, or put it in your ruck
sack
and dump it into your shipping bin later.
-----------------------------------------Section 000C7: Harvest Sprites
Q. How do I find XXXX Sprite?
A. I've made a short list of important sprites that I've found and how to get
them. I'm not sure on the specifics on how I get the rest.
Q. How do I use the recovery team?
A. Hire them for a specific plot of land. When you've used up all your
strength
and part of your fatigue talk to the sprites and they will heal you some. I
can
only imagine they heal you for more as their level increases.
