Dinosaurs
Millions of years ago, there werent any people. But there were dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs were reptiles, and most kinds came from eggs. There were many
kinds of dinosaurs. Dinosaurs lived on land. They didnt fly, and they didnt

The dinosaurs dominated the earth for a long time, but they mysteriously
became extinct 65 million years ago.

Read the passage. Then answer the questions below.

The First Woman in Space


The first woman in space was a Soviet cosmonaut. (The
English word for cosmonaut is astronaut.) In June,
1963, Valentina Tereshkova went around the Earth in a
space capsule 48 times in three days. She became a
Hero of the Soviet Union and received many honors.
Valentina was a factory worker before she became an
astronaut. She also knew a lot about parachutes because her
hobby was parachute jumping.
She wanted to be an astronaut and wrote to her
government about this. Her government chose her to become an
astronaut. Then she received many years of training for the flight.
She married another astronaut, Andrian Nikalayev. He traveled in
space too. They have a daughter Elena, a doctor.
Valentina never flew in space again. After her flight, she studied
engineering and in 1976 received a degree in technical science.
