Introduction:Gillette has always been a company, on which men have fallen back in terms of shaving and
other personal care products .Thus we wont be wrong if we say we have actually grown up
using the product of this company. Gillette has for decades been recognized for its creativity
in both product development and marketing strategy. For this reason, Gillette has been able to
remain highly competitive and is a global leader in the razor and blade industry. Hence this
company would certainly have our keen interest.
We would really like to thank you from the bottom of our heart for giving our company
RAN CONSULTING GROUP this prestigious opportunity to work with your company.
Seeing your expertise and your experience needless to say we would learn a lot .We will
certainly consult you in the best possible ways and help your company evolve
In this project we have taken special interest and appointed Mr. Naman Srivastava and he will
be heading a team of 5 members .Naman Srivastava has been our head consultant for past 7
years and has consulted companies like Schick , Wilkinson .
Background
As per our conversation dated 10.05.2016 at 8:00 pm we discussed that Gillette was founded
by the American Safety Razor Company on September 28, 1901.But needless to say that
over the years the company has risen and even failed in some sectors and in some fields it has
been facing too stringent competition .Gillette is able to pass by few but is lagging behind in
some sectors and even excelling in some.
In this assignment we would be consulting you specifically in increasing your product
portfolio in the right manner, in the sense we feel that the company shouldnt move away too
much from its core competency of personal care products .Apart from this the company
shouldnt be always male centric and it wont be wrong if we look into the female sector as
they end up using the male products. This is just few areas to mention .We have taken up this
assignment to give you the strategies for the above said problems and hence if the assignment
goes up for implementation as well, it would be a different assignment all together.
Engagement Selection
Whats in:1) We would specifically target the 4Ps which include product, price, place and promotion,
2) We would look into the 4Cs which include consumer, company, competitors and
collaborations
3) Even looking into the branding and advertising if required will totally be taken care of.
4) Even look into the customer retention aspect as competition is tough.

Whats out:We wouldnt have much say when it comes to research & development as its competent
enough
We wont get into the pricing aspect, as we feel its better the company would be better to take
such a decision.

The basic objective of this consulting assignment is to give you a right information which can
put forth the business and again move up the ladders what

The methodology which we are trying to use is:1) Have an analysis of the Personal care segment (both male and female)
2) Thorough research of what the people expect extra than what they are getting
3) Try to restrict the product line, in a way that it is close to its core competencies
4) To divest and sell off its pen sector as its away from its core sector
5) Try and not to increase the price of the product with technology advancement
6) Try to capture the military sector (prefer clean shaved)
)7) Introduction of Gillette as a beard brand as well (either ways u need Gillette, come up
with beard and moustache oil, mooch wax)
The deliverables if we can say is that we would in all take 2 months to complete and come up
with a thorough strategy .But we have decided to frame it in 4 phases .Each phase of 15
days .At the end of the first phase we would be able to bring out the 4ps aspect and even the
4cs and will guide you how to go about it and even analyse your swot which would help us a
lot and even check the internal aspects .At the end of 2 phase we would look into the
portfolio and other aspects where we can diversify. In the 3 rd. aspect we would look into
aspects where can deal with the competitors. At the end we would come up with a perfect
strategy which would suit your plan.
Thus in the time we are in the consulting phase we clearly state that we wont be involved in
the implementation procedure as we have already mentioned.

The outline fees we are charging for this consulting assignment is rs1000000 and it will be
paid after each and every phase proportionally.
