Study plan: Mr. CHRIS HIGIRO NTAWURUHUNGA

I am the first born in a family of three children living in the rural area where the living style is
difficulty due to the lack of infrastructure development. I passed my primary and secondary
school in village and I have been always thinking for my future career. I remember one time
when I was moving around the village, I used to see transmission tower carrying electricity from
distant. I had to have questions of how ELECTRICITY is being generated and transmitted
through over head lines. No one I had to explain me the phenomena of electricity. It is in that
interest I studied PHSICS, CHEMISTRY AND MATHEMATICS in secondary level. From the
little PHYSICS, I have learnt about electricity and its useful but I have not answered as much as
I wanted to know.
My further education was all about Technology. After completing my secondary studies with
best performance, the government of Rwanda gave me scholarship to continue to university.
From here I immediately made my choice targeting COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND
TECHNOLOGY. I taught in my heart that I can get my answer I used to have from my
childhood. The university had different schools and departments and I had to make choice. I
started checking from the list and I found Department of Electrical and electronics engineering.
I said YES!!!!!!! The answer is here.
My intake was in 2011. We started class based on workshops. I was so happy due to this
opportunity of being a member of electrical engineering class. Because of well motivation and
self confidence, I became class representative for 4years.The lecturer explained much about
Electricity by identifying forms of energy. I started to work on small project and domestic
installation with team working. In my third year, I conducted industrial attachment from one of
the national energy utility company ltd where I obtained practical skills. My attachment concerns
about overhead transmission lines and Transformer Section. From here I was very happy due
to electrical Power systems and control. During my final year project, I worked on Rural
electrification plan with loss minimization for sustainable infrastructure development
After completing my Bachelor of Science degree, I worked for one of the biggest manufacturing
industry SULFO RWANDA INDUSTRIES Ltd, Po.box:90, KIGALI which is located in the

midst of KIGALI, capital city of RWANDA. I was entitled as ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to

perform electrical machines installation, operations and control. I have been assigned for some
duties include: Maintenance planning, breakdown responding, undertaking scheduled
maintenance, spare parts requisition for procurement, and Health, safety &environment manager.
I am currently working for the construction company, Ozone Technology & Construction
Company Ltd as Electrical engineer. I am the company supervisor of electrical construction and
maintenance activities.
I have chosen Electrical System Control and Information Technology as my primary choice
because its a desire of my further education to enhance long-term career development. I am well
committed to improve both discipline and profession of engineering concepts. I want to develop
my skills and knowledge of electricity and the choice will help me to be competent on global
market. I wish to be an engineer without border based on skills and experience. If I am admitted,
I would focus on electric Power control tools and Protective devices. In my country, there is
problem of voltage drop due to poor control design system and these affect revenues. I wish to
contribute to my country and bring the best plan of Control in power system.
I made my choice to study in Chine because; chine is offering scholarship for the students from
low developing countries. Chine is having professionalism in education and advanced level in
technology. I am ready to effectively use advantage of the opportunity that the scholarship will
provide me in academic interest. Addition to that, I believe that academically I will perform well
and I will serve the community.
