Google Me! Reflection 1
Angela Krak is being considered for the position of a Spanish Teacher at Peters Township
High School in McMurray, PA. I have taken the time to research her on the internet to see what
kind of digital footprint she has left from social media use, achievements, articles, etc. After
Googling her name, at least five pages of information arose before random pages in foreign
languages ensued. After sifting through the websites and gathering information on Ms. Krak, I
have come to a conclusion on whether or not she should be hired. Below are five positive aspects
I found, and five things that could call into question her degree of professionalism.
One topic of Ms. Krak that arose very frequently on Google was her high school
volleyball career. There is a skills video that is the second link on the very first page, and it is ten
minutes long. Ms. Krak seems to have been very skilled as a volleyball player, and is the libero
of her team. This implies that she has leadership skills, and is capable of playing under pressure.
Another page showed that she was named to the first team all-section in the WPIAL her senior
year. There were newspaper articles written, and she received Player of the Match for her
performance. I was also able to find a quote about Ms. Krak from her volleyball coach. Ashley
Green states, "Angela holds a special place on the Peters Township girls volleyball team. She is
not only a great motivator and teammate, but also has the skill set to take Peters to the next level.
The thing I admire most about Angela is her true love and passion for the game." I value the fact
that she is mentioned as a motivator and team-player, because those skills transfer well into the

classroom. In addition, she seems to be accustomed to collaborating and working with others to
reach a common goal.
Another aspect of Angela that I discovered was her academic ability. There are frequent
posts from her high school, Peters Township, about her making highest honors. In fact, it seems
as though she earned highest honors every quarter throughout her sophomore, junior, and senior
years. This trend continues through college. Ms. Krak made the Deans list at Seton Hill
University. It seems to me that she highly values her academics, and works very hard to maintain
a degree of excellence. This is a great sign, because PTHS is looking for a Spanish teacher with a
GPA above a 3.8. Additionally, she received recognition for her community service. There was
an article written about Ms. Krak being named by the Zonta club as an Amelia Earhart Honoree.
It was stated that she had already completed over 120 hours of community service her
sophomore and junior years of high school.
A fourth positive about Ms. Krak is that she seems to be comfortable voicing her thoughts
in an eloquent and articulate way. She used to write for The Odyssey, and I looked at the topics
of her articles. Some were about language, and it is clear that she is very passionate about
Spanish. Finally, when searching in Google Images, I noticed that Ms. Krak ran the Pittsburgh
Half-Marathon in 2016. This shows that she is dedicated, tough, and goal-oriented. These aspects
of passion, skill, determination, and academic excellence are certainly what I am looking for as a
hiring principal.
There were however a few negatives that I encountered during my search. One hit on
Google that arose was a link to Soundcloud, a website where upcoming artists can share their
music. Ms. Krak was featured on a song called Drown. I listened to it, and she is the female
vocalist. She herself does not swear or use profanity, but the two other gentlemen on the track do.

This could harm Ms. Krak by association, because it might be seen as unprofessional. Another
aspect that was unprofessional was an image that arose with Google. It showed Ms. Krak sitting
on the beach in the sand wearing white shorts and a blue shirt. However, the shorts were shorter
than what would be considered professional. It looked like a senior photo from high school, yet
as an administrator, I would advise her to take it down. Ms. Kraks twitter page had been
disabled, but I could still see comments and images that her friends had tagged her in. One of the
images was a photo of her and a few friends in a hot tub together. Although she was submerged,
this could still be deemed as unprofessional. Another twitter picture showed her in a volleyball
uniform wearing tight spandex. I wouldnt want students to come across the photo, because it
might impact their view of their teacher. Finally, Ms. Krak does have both a Facebook and an
Instagram. However, I could not gain access to them due to her privacy restrictions. I would hope
that she posts appropriate content on those pages.
After conducting the search, I was ultimately pleased with Ms. Kraks footprint. What I
did see was mostly positive, although I would definitely advise her to take a few of the photos off
the internet. She seems to value her privacy, and I found no photos or evidence of anything
concerning such as drugs or alcohol. Given this information, I will hire Ms. Krak for this
teaching job.
