Introduction

Once upon a time a group called Habitat For Humanity

walked into the PANCHO building of architecture to get a
contract with them. So the PANCHO firm can create a design
for a cheap and affordable house at 304 Slaughter Ave.
Dallas, TX 75214. There was
many constraints that the
company had to follow,
which left the architects at
PANCHOS looking like this.
Even with all the constraints we
were able to create the best
affordable good looking house way
better than all the other companies
that designed a house for habitat for humanity (albans & travis house). The
house maintained its distance from the street and from the side neighbors.
Also we didn't exceed the amount of space that the house could take up
which was 2500 sq ft, while the house sq footage is 1360 ft sq. The house is
also fully accessible and meet all the requirements that the americans with
disabilities act of 1990 set out for the architects to follow while designing a
house. Another thing is that the house is made with many good LAYERS.
layers everywhere.

Site Analysis
The area where this project is being designed on is 304 slaughter Ave in
Dallas,TX. It is on a very VERY small lot where many amazing things
can happen. some bad things about this lot is that its very close to some
apartments, which can ruin your privacy because imagine one day
walking to your backyard just to go out for a little stretch the people on
the side will be able to see everything you are doing.. privacy at all. Also

another bad thing is that there is two SCHOOLS next to the property..
just imagine all the noise you will be hearing in the morning and all the
traffic there will be, plus i mean who likes school?? Either way its also a
good thing because it keeps you company, the residents can go and walk
around talking to random new
people, also they have kids they
won't have to travel far just to

go to school. imagine all the gas

you will save.
the terrain of the lotus really
uneven, thats a good thing and bad. the good thing is that there would
never be a flood on your property since the terrain make the water flow
to the streets storm sewer. the bad things that it will be hard to put that
down the foundation since we are going to have to even out the area.A
driveway will be placed in front of the house so you can park your
car/truck unless you like going OFF road we wont place a driveway. the
backyard is very spacey there is a lot of space to go ply outdoor
activities. the front yard isn't that big so deal with it. Also if the outdoors
is your enemy we decided to built a sky room for you inside your house
so you wont have to go outside. :]

Floor Plan/ Design Criteria Analysis

The floor was designed

by an amazing intelligent
mind which of course is
mine lol. following all the
constraint that the client
gave me and being being
very serious and precise i
designed the best floor
ever made. it took me
around 45/20 seconds to create. thats why i tried
my best to fit a lot of stuff in the house with 2 bedrooms, 1 master
bathroom, 1 restroom, 1 sky room, kitchen , dining room, living room,
laundry room, playroom, SKYROOM, and 5 closets with the total of
1360 ft sq of land used in total. The room that takes up the most space is
the icing room because when you have family over it wont that tight and
crowded. i mean who wants another person so close to them that you can
feel the other person breathe hating your neck thats just strange and
awkward. the bedrooms are in the
back of the house one in the back
right corner the other in the back
left corner.
the house also has lights and outlets
which make it more amazing and
keeps on adding LAYERS to the
house.
in this picture you can see the roof, the
layer of the house that stops rain from
pouring into your house also you can see the sky room which is a neat and
beautiful feature of the house design.

Calculations Summary
since we made a contract with
the habitat of humanity we
have to provide the cost of
everything of those like the
concrete pad foundation and
also the transmission load of
the house.
The transmission load for the
exterior surfaces which include
the walls,door,windows and
roof. If the R-value is high then it would
be capable of insulating the house from
the heat of summer and keeping in the
heat during the freezing winter. after
choosing my materials for the exterior the R-values for each surface are
Walls=7.18,Windows=0.649, Door=1.59, and Roof=57.85. The r-values could've
been better but.. we are under a certain budget, it has to be cheap and affordable.
after doing all the calculations the surface where most of the heat was lost was
though the the windows was 357.88 btu/hr each and there is 9 windows so.. and the
roof has 1197.38 btu/hr. the east and west walls had 323.38btu/hr each , north and
south had 340.4 btu/hr .the doors have 629.74 Btu/hr each and there is 2. 1 ton air
conditioning is needed to maintain a perfect temperature in the house.

Conclusion

This design was designed by a very creative intellectual and had

to face many challenges to meet the constraints requirement for
the Habitat for humanity. A lot of blood and tears were shed for
this project to be completed. The struggle was real while
creating the floor plan of the house getting the right dimensions.
This design takes advantage of the space that was supposed to
be used, almost every square
footage was used to build this
house. also fitting in many rooms
that would be in a big house into
the small house suitable for a big
family to live in.
