Pink for girls, blue for boys. These notions of rigid gender binarism are what have
inhabited our minds for centuries, and tint our perceptions of anothers true ever
evolving personality. The roles of sex and gender are ingrained into our conscious
beings, and are inherently restrictive human beliefs.
Fashion, in itself, is a paradox. A world where both extremes exist, a genderless space
versus an exuberantly binary one, all thoughts and beliefs are given the chance to
represent themselves. With changing perceptions and fashion increasingly reflecting
social trends, a zeitgeist towards a genderless space is taking place, one fold at a time.
At BE. Magazine, we believe that gender roles are officially dead, as should be
intolerance of any kind. We aim to appeal to you with our minimal, gender fluid
fashion portrayals, and our visibly naked and honest visuals. The REAL issue is exactly
what it is, real. Real people, real meaning, and real narratives. A story on each page,
we urge you to look deeper within yourself to see beyond fabric on a surface, and
question the meaning of overarching themes that have for so long, been coded into
our DNA.
BE. Magazine wants to show its readers the real world today, and give faces to
whispers that are lost in the wind, and dreams that have only been dreams.
As a first time launch, we invite you to BE. a part of our family (pun intended).
Rethink stereotypes, embrace individuality.
Signing off,
team BE.

chic vibe : Denim, denim, denim and more denim, oh and dont forget those vintage patches!
Plaid, as is obvious this time of the year.
Throw in a few sparkles for some fun, but keep
it pastel and perfect. Velvet anything, honestly.
White on white is always a failsafe, plus uber
stylish. Last but not the least, wear joggers
instead of pants, an Instagram favorite. Throw
some shade with those reflective sunnies,
theyre seriously cool.
Glitter tattoos are slowly fading away, and are
being replaced by sparkling crystals and bindis
for ornamentation, along with body paint in new
and creative patterns.
Keep your makeup simple, focus on big lashes
and Kylie Jenner-esque lips, and give your skin
the glo it deserves. Wear your hair big, or wear
your hair messy, just dont forget to wear your
hair in buns and braids.
Combine sporty hipster with LA glamour, and
youre all set to take off. All in all, tis the season
to be jolly, so let your clothes do the talking.
And dont forget to wear that smile, who knows
what presents a three day festival weekend
might bring.

Makeup took a different turn this season, what with Versace and
McQuen sending their models out with a classic smokey eye,
but with a twist from the lower lid. Blackcurrent lips and pale
skin graced the runways at Marc Jacobs, Dior and Rodarte, and
graphic liner had its big moment at Chanel, Fendi, Altuzarra and
Akris. Glitter power was seen at Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry and
Anthony Vaccarello.
Hair continues to change and define an individual, and some
of the coolest hair trends were seen at Zac Posen, Gucci, Stella
McCartney, Ferragamo and Prada.
From textured big hair, to messy knots and old school marcel
waves, this season has us wanting it all.

YAY!
THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY added 1200 new words this week, including
GENDER FLUID.
The venerated keepers of the English language define the term as (a) (in early use) not clearly or
wholly male or female; androgynous; (b) designating a person who does not identify with a single
fixed gender of or relating to a person having or expressing a fluid or unfixed gender identity.

SPECTRUM
Fashion is an industry that houses every
extremity, and it comes as no surprise that the
fashion world is full of queer members. But at the
same time, despite its symbiotic relationship with
the odd, it upholds rigid notions of binary gender.
As an industry that relies on exploiting these
differences to sell more products, it is currently
spectator to a seismic shift thats taking place.
For many people, the terms gender and sex
are used interchangeably, and thus incorrectly.
This idea has become so common, that it is rarely
questioned. When we are born, we are assigned a
sex, and sent out into the world. For many people,
this is cause for little, if any dissonance. Yet
biological sex and gender are different; gender
is not inherently nor solely connected to ones
physical anatomy.
Sex includes physical attributes such as external
genitalia, sex chromosomes, gonads, sex
hormones, and internal reproductive structures.
At birth, it is used to assign sex, that is, to identify
individuals as male or female. Gender on the
other hand, is far more complicated. It is the
complex interrelationship between an individuals
