Casing Running in China Results in Total Depth

Tescos Casing Drive System (CDS) runs casing
to Total Depth in difficult well trajectory.
Customer Focus:

The Fushun Block has a long horizontal section with Shale

gas well designs and sometimes our client will need
multiple wiper trips to make the conventional casing
running successful. Even with wiper trips, there is no
guarantee to run casing to target depth with
conventional casing running equipment, so cost
and well safety concerns have been raised. The customer
was looking for a solution to eliminate the need for wiper
trips, which would improve cost efficiency and well
integrity. Tesco External CDS
service was proposed as the best solution.

True Result:

In the Fushun Block, well depths reach 5,000 meters

(16,400 ft) with horizontal sections extending over 1,700
meters (5,600 ft). Tescos External Casing Drive System
(ECDS) was rigged up to run the 5, 23.2# casing, after
reaching total drilling depth of 3,300 meters (10,826 ft).
Once reaching the horizontal section, the casing could
no longer be run in the hole so the pumps were started to
build circulation and the top drive rotation was set at 35
rpm with 13k ft.lbs torque setting. As a result, the casing
was successfully run to target depth with an average running speed of 5-6 joints per hour.

Proven Performance:

The customer was very satisfied with the services provided

by Tesco and the ECDS equipment and now believes fully
in the technology. Although attempting to use a competitor casing running tool on one well unsuccessfully, the
customer immediately returned to Tesco. Through reliable
and customer focused service, Tesco has run the 5 casing successfully on every well for this customer ever since.
