CONSTRUCTION
4.1.1
Conductor
Insulation
a)
The insulation shall be PVC compound applied over the conductor by extrusion.
b)
PVC shall be capable of withstanding the voltage grade specified for cables.
c)
PVC insulation shall be of Type-A compound as per IS: 5831. The thickness and tolerance
shall be governed by IS 1554 Part I.
d)
4.1.3
Inner Sheath
a)
The laid up cores of multi core cables shall be provided with an inner sheath applied by
extrusion. Extrusion compound shall be confirming to the requirements of type ST-1 as per IS 5831.
b)
The minimum thickness shall not fall below the values given IS-1554 (Part-I). Taped inner
sheath is not acceptable.
ANNEXURE- III
4.1.4
Armour:
Outer Sheath
a)
The outer sheath shall be black PVC compound conforming to the requirements of
Type ST-1 compound.
b)
The outer sheath shall be applied over the armouring in case of armoured cable and over
the innersheath in case of unarmoured cable. The thickness of outer PVC sheath & its tolerance
shall be as per IS 1554 (Part-1).
c)
The outer-sheath shall be embossed with Voltage grade, Conductor cross-section & No. of
cores, Year of manufacture, Manufacturers name, ISI mark, type of insulation, armouring, outer
sheath material etc. as identification marks.
d)
Sequential marking of length of the cable in meters shall be provided on the outer-sheath at
every one meter.
e)
5.0 TESTING
5.1 Routine Test
a)
All routine and acceptance tests shall be carried out on ordered cable as
per relevant IS.
b)
Vendor shall submit the routine test certificates for the ordered cable. All
test results shall be within the limits as per the relevant standards.
5.2
TYPE TEST
Bidder shall submit test reports of all Type tests carried on similar cables
from CPRI or other Govt of India test house along with its bid. The type test
reports shall not be more than 7 years old from date of the bid.
b)
ANNEXURE- III
7.1
7.2
Cables shall be despatched in separate non returnable wooden drums of
suitable diameter, securely battened with the take-off end fully protected against
mechanical damage. The wood used for construction of the drum shall be
properly seasoned, sound and free from defects.
7.3
Each cable drum shall be clearly marked with the following information.
a) Reference of standard.
b) Manufacturers name.
c) Type of cable and Voltage grade.
d) Number of cores.
e) Nominal cross sectional area of the conductor.
f) Cable code.
g) Length of the cable on the drum.
h) Direction of rotation of drum (by means of an arrow)
i) Approximate gross mass.
j) Running end of cable.
k) Country of manufacture.
l) Year of manufacture
7.4
Both ends of the cable shall be adequately sealed and protected against
damages and ingress of moisture. Ends shall be properly sealed to prevent
ingress of water during transportation. Sufficient number of PVC rubber caps
shall be supplied along with the cables.
7.5
A tolerance of (+) plus 5% maximum shall be permissible for each drum.
Negative tolerance will not be accepted.
7.6
Dimensions of different part of drums shall be as per IS 10418.
