Judiciary of Guam to Hold Safe School Ambassadors


Program Training Next Week
Beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2017, the Judiciary will kick off training for
the Safe School Ambassadors Program. The two-day training course will take place
at the Hyatt Regency Guam and it involves 13 schools this school year. This will
include expansion training for schools that were previously trained as well as initial
training for schools who will be attending the training for the first time.

On January 17th and 18th, expansion training will be held for the Academy of
Our Lady of Guam while initial training will be held for Saint Paul Christian
School, Saint John's School and Santa Barbara Catholic School.

On January 19th and 20th, expansion training will be held for Saint Francis
Catholic School and San Vicente Catholic School while initial training will be
held for Dominican Catholic School and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic
School.

On January 23rd and 24th expansion training will be held for Southern High
School and Saint Anthony Catholic School while initial training will be held
for Notre Dame High School and Father Dueas Memorial School.
On January 25th & 26th expansion training will be held for Bishop
Baumgartner Memorial Catholic School.

Chief Justice Robert Torres stated, "In partnership with the Guam
Department of Education, the judiciary is proud to organize this training for the
fourth school year. Congratulations to the 500 students and 80 adults who were
selected to participate! Student Ambassadors are upstanders in their respective
schools and in our island community. Through their positive and inspiring actions,
powerful change occurs in schools".

The Judiciary of Guams Safe & Drug-Free School Project is responsible for
organizing this training program which is federally funded by a U.S. Department of
Education consolidated grant. The Safe School Ambassadors Program is included
in SAMHSAs National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.
