Elcometer 125, 127, 129 and 133 Surface Comparators

Comparators allow the estimation of surface roughness by both touch and sight. They are split into
sections, each with a different and defined roughness, labelled accordingly.
Available in both grit (angled sharp-edged particles) and shot (smooth rounded particles) blasted
versions. All can be used in accordance with ASTM Test Method A.
Unless otherwise stated, the specified roughness values are based on peak-to-valley height or the
mean of a series of peak-to-valley heights.

FEATURES

The Elcometer 125 conforms to ISO 8503 Parts 1 and 2. Grit: 25, 60, 100 and 150m sections.
Shot: 25, 40, 70 and 100m sections.

The Elcometer 127 Keane-Tator Surface Profile Comparator, available in sand, shot or grit
blasted versions 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4mils/thou sections.

The Elcometer 129 Rubert Surface Comparator available in 0.4, 0.8, 1.5, 3.2, 6.3 and 12.5m.
The roughness is also shown in classes and groups.

The Elcometer 129 Rugotest Surface Comparator (RUG 3) includes the shot and grit blasted
versions on the same block, labelled N6, N7, N8, N9, N10 and N11 (equivalent to 0.8, 1.6, 3.2,
6.3, 12.5 and 25m roughness averages respectively).

The Elcometer 133 Ships Propeller Roughness Comparator is supplied in two versions. Set 15
consists of a roughness scale and a sheet giving guidance on the inspection and repair of
propeller blades. Set 16 is a comparator designed specifically for underwater examinations of
the propeller surface.
