*Rainbow Words Roll and Spell: Students will be given a list of sights words.
They will roll the dice and write their sight word in the color associated with that
number on the dice.
*Sight Words Graph: Students will be given a list of sight words in which they will
practice writing each word three times. They will then color in the bar graph of how
many letters each word has. They will use word study while incorporating
mathematics.
*Spin and Spell: Students will spin the spinner and record the blend letters they
landed on. The student will refer to the chart on their page and determine which
ending will make up their sight word.
*Making Words: Students will be given cards with specific blank spots. Students
will then be able to use small squares with letters on them to fill in the blank and
make new words. For example, one card may have _at. The student could then put a
C tile and make cat. They would then record their findings and repeat with a
different card.

*Memory: Students will work with long vowel and short vowel words to match them
to their picture in the traditional game of memory.
*Word Magic: This app will allow students to have fun with spelling and word
study. They will be given a series of pictures and words in which they will determine
the missing letters.
*Word Phonics Word Family: This app allows students to become familiar with
word families. Word families are words with common phonetic features or phonic
patterns.
*Bluster: Students complete a word matching game which helps to build their
vocabulary and word understanding. Students match rhyming words, prefixes and
suffixes, synonyms, homophones and more.
*Phonics Silly Sentences: This app provides fun activities that introduce vowel
sounds and their letter combinations. Different activities help students identify short
vowels and long vowels for more advanced students. Using flashcards, matching,
games, and silly sentences, students will receive lots of practice with the different
vowel sounds.
* Monkey Word School Adventure: Students get to join Monkey and his jungle
friends as they explore a fun-filled world of letters, sight words, phonics and
spelling.
*Slap Words: Students will participate in a game where there will be multiple sight
words card face up on the table. The caller will say one sight word out loud and the
student who slaps the card first will collect the card and make up a sentence using
the word.
*Word Scramble: Students will have magnetic words scrambled together forming
nonsense words. The students will work together to unscramble the letters to form
the words from the sight list.
*Fishing for Vowel Digraphs: Students will have one deck of cards face down.
Each students takes five cards from the stack. Students should look for the
matching vowel digraphs in their hand and put the matching pairs down. For
example, I have peek and seed, they have the /e/ vowel sound that is spelled with
ee. Student one asks for a word card that contains the same vowel digraph as one
of the cards he is holding. For example, Do you have a card that has an // sound
and is spelled with ai? If yes, student two gives it to student one who reads both
words and target sounds. Places match down. If no, student two says, Go fishing
for a digraph! Whether or not a match is made, student selects enough cards from
the stack so that he is holding a total of five cards. Student two takes a turn.
Continue game until all cards are matched.
*Shake It: Students will have a deck of cards. The first player will pull up a card
and read the word out loud. If it has a short a, all students shake their hands. If the
word has a short e they must shake their leg. If the word has a short i they have to

shake their hips. If the word has a short o they must shake their body. If the word
has a short u they have to shake their thumb.
*Boggle: Students will be given boards with letters on it. They have a specified
amount of time to create as many words as they can using the letters on their
board. The letters must connect on the board.
