Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

Even though they were cousins and grew up together, in todays Gospel, John the
Baptist admits, I dont know him. until the Spirit opened his eyes. Pray that the
Spirit will open your eyes so that you can see and appreciate each other beyond the
surface of daily routines.

308 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament his past week. Behold in the
Blessed Sacrament we can converse with Jesus, we can lay our wants before Him, and we

can ask Him for His graces. In a word, in this sacrament we can meet with the King of Heaven,
in all confidence and without restraint. (Visit to the Blessed Sacrament) Please call Patricia
330-745-1552 or Nancy at 330-825-9515 if you are able to spend just one hour.
St. Vincent De Paul of St. Augustine is collecting new or lightly used coats (adults and
children) for The Ozanam Center. A box is located in the back of church labeled St.
Vincent De Paul Winter Coat Collection. Thanks for your generosity.

Thats the mission Christ gave to St. Francis and its the perennial task of the Church in every age of
its life. But how is the reform and renewal of the Church to be accomplished? The life of St. Francis
demonstrates that Christ intends the foundations of true and lasting reform to be built on the solid
rock that is the radical witness of the saints.

Year-End Giving and Future Planning

In this season of giving, consider making a year-end gift to our parish in gratitude for all the blessings
you have received in life. As you plan to make the most of your charitable donations in 2016, know that
we gratefully accept gifts of cash and appreciated assets such as stocks or bonds. If you are 70 1/2 or
older, contact your IRA administrator to find out if 2016 legislation has been enacted that will allow you
to make an income-tax free gift from your IRA to our parish. Lastly, should this year-end find you
creating or updating your estate plan, please consider helping us grow our parish ministry for future
generation by including our parish as a beneficiary of your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance
policy.
Questions, contact Denise in our parish office at 330-745-0011 or via email at
businessmanager2@rrbiznet.com.

New Year's blessings to everyone who helped with the Christmas Day Dinner. Once again,
Howard and Linda Lansberry and Kevin McCann and Christy spearheaded the food
preparation in such a way that everything was delicious and ready when needed. Many hands
made lighter work ~ approximately 30 people volunteered on Christmas Day! Helping make
the day special was the faithful setup crew, led by Richard and Pat Postek. The decorating volunteers
show up faithfully on December 23 each year to work their magic! A Christmas dinner always needs
baked goods. As always, the need was met by bakers of the parish whose cake and cookies provided a
delicious array. In addition, the ladies of St. Nicholas donated 500 cookies. Special thanks to Hiss Bakery
and the Green Diamond Grille for again donating bread and turkey breasts. Thank you all. Our guests
could not be served without you. May the blessings of the season continue to fill you with our Savior's
love and mercy.
