AKU Raises over Rs.

9000, 000 to Support Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Karachi: Congenital affect 8 out of every 1,000 new-borns. Around 40,000 infants in Pakistan are
born with CHD every year and 15,000 of them are critical. At AKU, 70% of patients come from
families without the financial means to afford the cost of outstanding surgical and medical care.
To support such families of CHD patients, AKU raised Rs.9000,000 via golf tournament.
The tournament was held on 20th March at Karachi Club where 100 golfers teeted with a cause to
contribute in the AKUs patients welfare program which will directly facilitate CHD patients in
surgical care. The sponsors enjoyed course games, delicious buffet breakfast and
lunch while transforming lives of children and families receiving treatment. Gold
Sponsors included Bahria Town, GEO Television and Dolmen Group; Silver Sponsors
included Google & Shan Foods.
