HOW TO TEACH THE SONG
- T tells SS that they are going to learn how to sing a
song: WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS
- T plays the music, SS just listen.
- T sings and acts twice, SS just watch and listen.
- T and SS introduce vocabulary and practice
reading individually and chorally: Merry
Christmas, Happy New Year, figgy pudding, a

- T teaches each sentence: practice reading each
phrase in each sentence chorally and individually
(from right to left). For example:
Merry Christmas
a Merry Christmas
wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas.
- T and SS act and sing together.
- Call some SS to sing individually.
- T divides the class into 2 teams.
- Have a competition between team 1 and team 2.
2. New lesson - Joe
a. New words.
- T shows each flashcard and asks SS Whats
this?, SS guess.
- T writes the new words down on the board and
stamps the flashcards beside the words.
- Practice reading new words many times until they
can read fluently:
+ T reads, the whole class repeats aloud.
+ T reads, each side reads aloud.
+ Each SS reads aloud. T corrects the pronunciation.
Activity 1: Remember vocabulary in order.
- Tell SS in their own language that you are going to
play a game.
- Tell them that you are quickly going to show them
pictures of the toys and they have to remember them
in order.
- Show the flashcards for teddy bear and car. Put
them face down.
- Ask SS to say the names of the things they saw in
English (teddy bear, car).
- Make the game more challenging by adding to the
number of flashcards you show or showing them for
a shorter amount of time.
Activity 2: What is it?
- Tell SS in their own language that they are going to
play a game.
- Stick one of the toy flashcards on the board and
cover it with a large sheet of paper.
- Ask Whats this? As you slowly move the paper to
reveal part of the picture. Continue to reveal the
picture until a child correctly guesses the toy. Say
very good and reveal the flashcard to the class.
- Repeat with flashcards for other toys.
Activity 3: Find the flashcard.
- Tell SS they are going to play a game.
- Put the flashcards in different places in the room.

card. Anyone who collects and gives it to you first,

- T summarizes the main points of the lesson.
