Background and motivation

Efficient probabilistic calculations: the ME-MDRM

Estimation of the PDF
Limited number of simulations, thanks to:
Gaussian interpolation
Multiplicative Dimensional Reduction (Method)
Basic concept developed by Zhang (2013)
Modifications in dissertation:
Estimate stability through Latin Hypercube Sampling
Further reduction of number of simulations (4n +1 vs 5n+1)
Generalized Gaussian interpolation
(vs. Legendre, Chebyshev)

X1 X 2
X3

With X1 : LN (3; 0.3); X2 : LN (4; 0.5); X3 : LN (2; 0.2)

Y: LN (12.48; 0.646)

Roundup / Conclusions
Re-derivation of Direct Stiffness Method, including fire effects

Adaptation of the ME-MDRM: a recently developed method

for an efficient estimation of the PDF of a model output
Combination of the ME-MDRM and the DSM-tool: method
seems promising
ME-MDRM proves its worth especially when the PDF is not
described by a traditional (lognormal) distribution
