Arts and Culture of Malaysian Cuisine

COURSE CONTENT

This course is designed for students to


experience the cultures and traditions of
Malaysia.The cultural diversity of Malaysia
will be discovered through the culinary
heritage. It will start from the farming and
cultivation of local ingredients, up to the
cooking and eating habits that takes place
accross the country. Malaysia combines

Malay, Chinese, Indian, indigenious and mixed


traditions to create a potpourri of Asian
influences. Participants will be given a wide
picture to enable them to fully understand
and appreciate Malaysia's distinct culinary
heritage.

LEARNING OUTCOME

By participating in this course, students will be able to:


Develop an understanding for the process of production and processing of ingredients before
consumed as staple foods after visiting various Malaysian restaurants, fruit farms, markets,
herbs and spice gardens as well as rice fields
Be introduced to Malaysian culinary techniques with practical classes in kitchen laboratories
